This place is awful. I really wanted to like it because of the other positive reviews, and the fact that it is so close to my house. But it makes me cringe every time I go here, and for the following reasons:
- BILLING: my #1 disappointment with this place. Every time I check in for an appointment with the front desk, they would ask "Oh, you have a balance. Would you like to pay?" And my naive answer in the beginning was always "I have a balance? Have you sent the bill?" But now I am so fed up with this, that I tell the front desk, "And no, I don't want to pay my balance" before she even says anything. Why? Because I'm not going to entertain this stupid and CONDESCENDING process.
Here's a perfect example. I had a couple of sick visits in Sept/Oct, but never received the bills until end of Dec (2-3 months later!!!). So when I went in for a normal checkup in Nov, front desk asked me this question if I wanted to pay my balance. First, why would I pay for something if I've never seen the bill before, to ensure its accuracy, etc.? It is also super expensive - this place charges ~$130 per 5-min sick visit. Second, this question is disrespectful in itself because I have always paid my bills on time. So why can't you send your bills short after an appointment, and not penalize people who pay theirs on time by asking this question prior to their check-ins?
- SCHEDULING: at my previous pediatrician, I got an appointment slip at the end of my appointment to let me know when is the next checkup (is it 12 month, then 15 month or 18 month), and I could schedule an exact date/time for that next checkup. Here at Hillsboro Peds, they never tell me when the next checkup is, nor do they have the pediatrician schedule more than 2-3 weeks in advance. So I would have to call myself every single time and closer to the date. Why??
- LONG WAIT TIME: I would arrive 10 min early to my appointment, get checked in with the nurse on time. But then have to wait with my son in that tiny patient room for 20 min+. Not only is it suffocating to have to wait in that small room with the door closed, but why isn't our time respected, especially if we had the appointment long in advance (I can understand if it's a same-day sick appointment)?
- ORENCO STATION DIRTY ROOMS: it seems that the staff here does not like being at this location. When I go there, the room is never fully cleaned from the previous patients. Staff is always barely minimum friendly, and does not go above and beyond.
