Dr West and his PA Katy were nice - spent 3-5 minutes first visit and decided rotator cuff surgery was necessary. Didn’t see the Dr before or after surgery. Have only seen him once since for 2-3 minutes rest of the visits are 2-3 minutes but with the assistant. Did not check my range of motion or look at the incision sites other than to remove the initial bandage from surgery. Dr prescribed an anti inflammatory and muscle relaxer, office staff handed me the prescription, CVS noticed it wasn’t my name on the prescription. Called the office on Friday to get it corrected, their assistant didn’t call back until the following Tuesday to discuss the wrong prescription. She asked “what did he prescribe you” I inquired that it should be in my chart. I was informed “it’s not in your chart and we see 80 plus patients on clinic days so it’s hard to keep up with them” took multiple more phone calls before the prescription ever made it to CVS. They herd patients through like cattle literally, in groups of people from one waiting room to another to another. Support staff is terrible except the billing department, they are always on time.

I have been to many orthopedic doctors over the years and Dr. West is the best. He takes the time to listen to your questions and concerns. He does not tell me that I can't perform an activity. He works with me to help manage my pain (bad knee). I have been seeing him for over two years. I plan on him being my doctor for a long time!

Dr. West has performed both a knee and shoulder surgery for me. He listens and addresses all issues and is concerned about explaining the cause of pain and what he can do to eliminate or minimize not just the pain, but the cause of the pain. He uses all available options rather than immediately suggesting surgery as the first response to a problem. He performed my first surgery over ten years ago. I strongly recommend Dr. West. His bedside manner and technical expertise are both excellent.

I"ve had a lifelong hip condition and after a multitude of childhood and young adult reconstructive surgery, I simply am not ready for a total replacement surgery. I manage with moderate exercise and pain management. My previous lifelong doctors have both retired and I was referred to Dr. West. After three eight minute visits over the space of a year I received a phone call from the nurse advising me that unless I had surgery, they would no longer be refilling my prescriptions. (minimal dosages as needed) No consult the week before during my appointment. I was advised they were not going to be acting as a pain management program and would only assist orthopedic surgical patients. Read: no nuisance patients. I really doubt that my two previous doctors, who were pioneers in the field of orthopedic medicine, would have had anything kind to say about this treatment, and neither do I.

Dr. West is a good surgeon but don't expect to see him except for a quick first visit and your surgery. I had surgery in June 2018 and now something else has broke in the same knee, four months later. Not sure why he wouldn't be able to see that coming in June.

I have been going to Dr. West for 13 years, my pcp sent me to him saying he was an upcoming forward thinking orthopedic doctor. He has since done a meniscus repair on both knees and let me know way back then that I would eventually need replacements. I am in the last week of recovery for the first partial knee replacement. Dr. West does not prescribe lifelong meds in order to mask pain. He does however give you the straight truth, you ask a question, you should be prepared for the answer. I see people in here saying bedside manner and so on. A lot of what you get is what you give. Treat him with respect and be an informed patient and he will be the best doctor you can find.
