Dr. McDaniels is amazing, he sees children and adults. He really manages your health, puts in a lot of effort to figure out what's going on if it's something hard to pin down, but isn't afraid to send you to a specialist if needed. He is also the only doctor I've ever had that took the time to get to know each of his patients AND is more than willing to explain what's going on with you. He will tell you if you need to change your habits to improve your health, he puts your health first. I've seen other doctors at Wake Internal Medicine and they were also very nice and helpful.

After nearly 15 years of going to physicians for the same set of symptoms, Matt Schwanke listened, told me that accepted ranges aren't always the whole story (which validated my previous research), ran tests, and wrote me a Rx as soon as results came back the same day. I nearly cried. After all this time, I felt heard. He heard me. He didn't automatically tell me to try getting more sleep, or to find a therapist because it's all in my head, or say "there's nothing wrong with you, your tests are fine." I never waited for anyone longer than 5 minutes. The nurse very thoroughly went over my health history. Dr. Vu came in promptly and was very thorough. The phlebotomist was the best I've ever seen. The issue is even after they confirmed specifically which drug needed to be refilled, my pharmacy never got the prescription and now I’ve got to wait for the pharmacy to contact the doctor and start that whole process. We went to Lakeview Dental on Saturday for the first time and were very impressed with the office. The front desk staff were friendly and very helpful when it came to out of pocket expense. My PCP relocated to WIMC a couple of years ago. At this practice he is able to spend more time with me during visits and the support staff are polite and correspondence with the office over their portal is pretty painless with replies usually coming back within a day during the week. The convenience of an onsite lab and x-ray is nice. I have been to the Rx Urgent Care a couple of times and wish the two practices were more integrated where they could see a shared medical record and update accordingly.

My PC moved to this practice a few years ago, so we followed. All physicans I’ve seen here are 5-star. However, the office staff needs to get their stuff together. They seem to be confused about how to process some of the paperwork; the people I’ve spoken to are clearly confused about instructions for various procedures. I had fasting bloodwork done the other day. My instructions were no food/drink after midnight. I’m allowed a sip of water with morning meds. “You’re supposed to drink water so you can fill the cup” scolded the less than friendly woman who did the blood draw.

I’m really happy I found Wake Internal Medicine. When I first walked in I immediately felt so welcomed and comfortable. The building is very beautiful inside and bright. Everything is very easy to find and navigate. So far I’ve been seen by Dr. Bhat and Dr. McElroy and both Doctors are wonderful and take the time to listen to all your concerns. I felt like I was in really good hands and wasn’t rushed or not taken seriously. I’ve also been to the women’s health area for an ultrasound and labs and every single person I’ve spoken to and had an interaction with has been so friendly, kind and welcoming. On top of that, I have been taken back immediately at every appointment even with a room full of people, I have never had to wait long. I was so surprised how quickly the doctors come in to see you as well. Even one time when the nurses were running short and working with several doctors they were still very kind and saw me quickly. I’m really blown away by the care here and also what a warm and welcoming environment this place is. I’ve been to so many practices and it is really rare to feel welcomed, have almost no wait and speak to so many kind people. I feel very thankful and fortunate to be a patient here.

I have been going to wake internal medicine for quite a few years now and once I get to the office my experience with Dr/ Meier and the nurses is always absolutely wonderful. Getting to that point has always been somewhat of a struggle. Last week I called for a preop clearance for rotator cuff surgery that I need as soon as possible, Dr/ Meier didn’t have anything and I asked if I could see his nurse practitioner to get the clearance the scheduling person told me no I had to see him only which meant that my surgery was going to be delayed for a month. After a day of considering calling another doctor and seeing somebody else at another practice I decided to call wake internal medicine back hoping that I would get a different scheduler I did get a different scheduler who said absolutely I could see the nurse practitioner for clearance made me an appointment within less than a week so I was able to move my surgery date up and now having surgery in one week. If I hadn’t called her back then I probably would’ve ended up switching doctors. The second scheduler was really helpful and knew what she was doing. She spent plenty of time with me and I’m sorry I don’t know her name if you look up who made my appointment for the 12th at 11:30 with the nurse practitioner then you’ll know who she was. Thanks to her I’m still a patient there!

We (my husband and I) chose Wake Internal Medical Consultants mostly because they were in our network and were relatively close to our home. Our first visits with a doctor for him and one for me were pleasant enough. Everyone was friendly and efficient. It would have been nice, though, to have been given more information along the way. For example, both doctors ordered blood work. If we had been told when we made the first-visit appointments, that this would be the case, we could have fasted before the appointment and then been ready for the blood draw. Instead we had to come back a second day.
