I have been a patient of Dr Blount for over 10 years now. I'm not one to see a doctor often, but plan on doing better on preventative care so I called to schedule a physical. They pulled my records and because I had no previous physicals with Dr Blount, they could not "assign" him as my primary doctor and stated I would have to start seeing someone else. This is the Dr that I have been assigned to and going to for over 10 years and now they tell me that I have to go to the new Dr that just moved in to the area and has no patients. Don't think so. Just found a new practice and will be moving the rest of my family out of this ridiculous practice. Based on the reviews and the way they treat patients, they may not be overly busy too much longer. STAY AWAY.

A little concerned that I have been a patient of Dr. Aaron Leininger for the past few years and have been sending messages through Duke MyChart for appointment requests and refill request only to finally getting in touch with the office today to find out he no longer works there. The care I received while I was at my visits was ok but it's a little troubling to find out the doctor you have been seeing is no longer there and apparently no one has been transitioning his patients to other providers or contacting them to let them knows it's pointless to be sending him messages though DukeMyChart because no one is being help accountable to answer them.

Matt S

Basically the only doctor's office I've ever used, still drive out of my way to come here after moving out of the area. Can't imagine trusting anyone else. You won't be disappointed.

Gary Gouin

My family have been patients at this practice for 10+ years. The practice was filled with excellent MD's and admin staff. Duke acquired the practice about 4 years ago and it quickly went straight down hill. Hold times immediately escalated, the staff is now a revolving door. Big company=better services? Not in this case. My family sees Dr. Gavankar and he is a rock star. If he leaves we have no reason to stay at this practice.

Jay Redman

best primary care ever would recommend Dr.Bloom always a GREAT Dr.

Jessica Merrett

Awesome! Extremely friendly staff. Very professional. Would recommend to anyone. You really feel listened to and cared for.

I am writing this review as I sit in the waiting room. I have been here 3 times and not once have they ran even close to the scheduled appointment. Currently I have been waiting 22 minutes and I am on my lunch break. So, if you have the time to waste and do not need to be anywhere in a hurry, use this place. I will personally be looking for a new doctor as soon as I leave here today.

Pankaj Halder

Very disappointed with this office - both office staff and provider. During a follow up visit where the situation did not improve after recommended physical therapy sessions, the doctor said he would get the report from the therapist and send me message over MyChart about what to do next. Waited over a week for that message; but nothing in MyChart. With no respite from the pain, I called the office (and calling this office is another headache - on multiple occasions needed to wait for at least 10 minutes before someone picked up and when someone did pick up the attitude seemed it was all my fault that nobody answered the phone) and was told that someone would call me back. Never received that call. Very unprofessional - cannot believe a doctor can be so careless for his patients.

Catherine Greene

The doctors here are not just concerned about current symptoms but your overall health. Billing and check-ins are super fast.

They are always courteous. I really like dr Gavankar!

I recommend Dr. Duron Lee. He listens and respects your time. He and his nurse make the visit as enjoyable as possible, most importantly he makes sure your health improves or your issue resolved. He stays on time, and works together with you as a team.

Theresa Anhut

Reading through the reviews left me dumbfounded. I have always had only wonderful experiences at Carolina Family Practice. I saw Nicole (P.A.) for years, but she sadly moved away; now I see Hillary (another P.A.), whom I can highly recommend! The support staff are very nice and helpful and it has always been easy to make an appointment. My husband and daughter use this practice and are also very happy.

Kirsten Lin

Positive review for Dr. Piper Kilpatrick. Very thoughtful and caring.

I've been a patient of Dr Bloom's for years. He's very knowledgeable, thorough, kind, and listens to any and all concerns and addresses each. I Never feel rushed or like just a number. He shows genuine concern for my health needs and makes sure I go for normal routine care as recommended- colonoscopy, pap, mammo. You'd be hard pressed to find a better doctor. I can usually get an appt same or next day if needed. Staff is efficient and friendly. I also like being able to look up my health info on the duke website.

We have been seeing Dr. Bloom at CFPSS for about 13 year now, and have had excellent care. They have always been right on time for appointments--first Drs office where I've experienced that. Have never had a problem getting in to see someone the same day for urgent issues.

I have been going to this practice for a number of years. For most of that time i have been going to Dr Josh Bloom and I am very satisfied with seeing him. He spends all the time I think is needed. I do wish they had a different lab in the building. Quest has always been an issue for me. Every time I have blood drawn, the technician manages to miss the blood vessel the first 2 or 3 times. Never have they found it the first time. I have Medicare Part B and Tricare for Life and rarely have I had any issues with insurance. Since the practice was sold to Duke in 2012, there are a few administrative differences at the front desk. I'm not sure why Duke now requires complete insurance cards every visit. Before it was always - "has anything changed with your insurance?". That seemed to work just fine. Bottom line - the Medical part of the practice is outstanding but the lab & administrative parts need work. Even so I highly recommend them.

I have been to this place before Duke acquired it..very good experience. This year, I had a shoulder pain and went in expecting to be diagnosed and fixed. However it turned out very bothersome disappointing experience. Dr Bloom saw me and diagnosed with scapular dyskinesis. And he referred to physiotherapist ...that was so absurd. In my previous visits all i s taken care in the single visit. Duke sucks your money by splitting the services , which is a volume based service rather than value based. So disappointing...Now I owe them 200 bucks for nothing. On top the diagnosis is wrong, I have rotatory cuff injury, which was diagnosed by same place before Duke acquired it..how I knew, just performed the same exercises that they taught, and the pain is gone. bummer..For this why do I need a Dr and care like this. Shame on them even charging for misdiagnosis . Please avoid this care at any cost. There are better centers and Drs , I will avoid Duke care by all means

Both my wife and I have been patients of Dr. Jennifer Stromberg, at Carolina Family Practice and Sports Medicine in Cary for almost a year. The front office staff has always been courteous and professional and taken the time to actually talk to us as people, not just number on a file. We have neither one had any complications with our appointments (usually in the back within 10 minutes of appt time), prescription refills, my chart, or provider! Keep up the great work CFPSM and Duke Med.

This office is plain awful now, the new MD's (almost a revolving door nowadays- someone new is there every 2months) now are a joke, 0-2 yrs fresh out of college, with no experience in diagnosing anything more than a ingrown toe nail, always trying to give you a x-ray for everything ($$$$), had no choice but to go there couple of times in the last 4 months, completely misdiagnosed what i had, had to go to urgent care to get it treated, another time this MD(fresh) had no idea what to do, sat there just mumbling reading of 'script' from his laptop with generic notes. I would have recommended this place about 4-5 yrs ago, where the MD's were a different breed than what is occupying the office now. The billing & receptionist folks have always been condescending (even with their little 2 yr degree) and sometimes just obnoxious, but in the past I just tolerated them because at least the MD's were good, now its just bad across the board.

I am so grateful for this location and, Dr. Sandeep Gavankar, in particular. He was the first Doctor in several years that actually listened to me before assuming I was chasing opiates. I hurt my back in 1997. It used to be "more" chronic than it is now, but now, i experience issues with it once or twice a year that cause me to seek pain relief that ibuprofen will not provide. My previous pain relief provider the last 3 occasions where my back has gone out suddenly and without warning, that "pain relief provider" refused to give me a prescription without an appointment, and each time, they would have no appointments that day. There recommendation each time was to go to the ER. As I had a "pain relief medication" contract that they were the ONLY place allowed to prescribe me pain medication, AND they were refusing, I was forced to go through what is reportedly one of the worst pains we humans can go through without any relief until an appointment could be made and I could hobble in there grimacing like an idiot. This is a back issue... meaning, there is no way to pre-emptively plan an appointment for it. AND, as it only occurs once or twice per year, I do not need monthly appointments OR a monthly recurring prescription for pain medication. I never went to the ER as that was a waste of money, and their time / resources, but i did try to go to urgent care clinics who each refused me because of the contract. It was horrifically depressing.... i cannot put enough emphasis on that. My most recent episode, one i am currently recovering from, it was the same story at the old place, same story at urgent care, but for the first time in 6 years, I went to Cary Family and Sports. I was clear that I had a contract signed, but I'd told them verbally over the phone I'd never go see them again. Initially, and understandably, they balked at providing me care for the pain. But the doctor actually listened when I said "one or twice a year". His ears perked up and he said, "that's it"? He then had my stuff transferred from Wake Spine and Pain, and gave me a prescription to handle the pain, and I am currently mending without sudden, gasping, and yelp-inducing muscle spasms. I just looked at my online chart to review the last appointment, and he'd added a trifecta of wellness to my personal strategy suggestions... "work on stress management, attention to relationship and spiritual health". Dude... who does that? And it's true / proven to improve overall health. Awesome. Dr. Gavankar... THANK YOU! I hope to never need to see you again, but I'm tickled pink to have a doctor that listens long enough to let new information in, and has compassion. You rock.

Doctors and very diligent and attentive....never had to wait over 10 mins for appointments...love this practice.!!!

The providers are wonderful, but making appointments takes forever. Hold times exceed 20 minutes. This, at times, has me considering another practice.

They have improved their appointment systems greatly! Can always get an appointment scheduled fairly quickly. At the office, they've run from 15min to an hour late but usually only in late afternoon appointments.

John Logan

Over 10 years of great care through all kinds of ups and downs.

T Robinson

Horrible customer service! I went to my insurance company's website to look for providers in the area and this office was listed. I contacted the office to make an appointment and was refused because I use Tri-Care Prime. Based on Tri-Care's website they show this office as a provider and according to Tri-Care the office has an agreement to accept the insurance. I have requested Carolina Family Practice contact Tri-Care and remove their application as a Prime provider. This is extremely inconvenient and causes undo stress for military families in the area.

Anne Johnson

Terrible. Been a client for about 15 years. Before they merged under the Duke umbrella, they were good. Now, worst customer service with rude, angry, disrespectful, incompetent people (I lodge a complaint to the business office, once, hoping they'd improve. They have not, so sadly I'm left having to find a new primary care provider.) Even Dr. Gavankar (the best, who I liked a lot) failed me. Ms. Crump, N.P., who I saw in his place because he had no availability, gave the worst medical consult I've ever had in my life with poor listening skills, dismissive, and lack of knowledge for an podiatry/orthopedic issue. And this is supposed to be a sports medicine office, as well as family? No. I was left to pursue treatment on my own, which I'm still undergoing and may ultimately end up in surgery for this serious problem. Thank goodness, my instincts told me to find help elsewhere. I also saw one of their doctors in the Holly Springs office, paid my co-pay, and then they later said they had no record of it saying I owed it. Not good. Luckily, I had proof. They also have misinformation in my medical chart, so make sure you check your records through DukeMyChart because you will find you have conditions listed you've never had.
