I will no longer take my daughter to this pediatrician since Dr. Baldwin is no longer there. Dr. D'Avanzo should not be a children’s doctor as he is very nonchalant and is too rough.

I am beyond displeased with Blue Ridge Pediatrics specifically with Dr. Baldwin. I would have never thought a day like this would come where CPS would be involved due to declining a recommendation for my son. I learned today that because someone has credentials and provides a recommendation not a requirement that you must follow what they say, or they will contact CPS. There is no requirement by law that states Parents have to abide by there pediatrician recommendation, in fact it is proven per statement from Office Manager Tina that parents have a right to decline but the doctors have a right to report, however they don't report a parent who declines vaccinations for their children. All they do is drop them from the facility and CPS is not called, even though the child not vaccinated can harm other children, I guess that is not on the doctors conscience either. Although you may know your child and may feel you are doing what is best for your child because you declined certain treatments to take another route it may be viewed as neglect. For future and current patients and parents I urge you to be aware that you have a right to obtain other opinions from other physicians/pediatricians including treatments, and to decline certain recommendations that you do not see fit for your child. Yes, I am bless and thankful my child is doing much better after moving forward with my own recommendation, however I am now stuck with proving there was no neglect especially when my first option was going to Blue Ridge Peds to obtain a prescription for my child. I hope no other parent has to experience this and just a heads up just go with what the doctor recommend since you do have rights but don't. Thank you!

My three-month-old has been welcomed at Briar creek pediatrics. All the staff has been great we couldn't ask for any better. Three days ago my son went in to see if there was a possible ear infection. We paid our five dollar co-pay as usual and was on her way after knowing that it was not an ear infection. Through the weekend a fever started. We were told by the doctor to come in the next day to see what was going on. We found that this could be a possible foot and mouth virus and were told to come back if the fever got any higher in two days. As I thought this would only be a co-pay as this time. A new policy had started to pay the co-pay and the payment of service towards deductible each sick visit. My payment of $160 was paid today. With this new policy it's hard to believe each sick visit would be $160 out-of-pocket. If my sons fever persists I feel I should go elsewhere due to immediate out of pocket expense that could total to $480 in just seven days. Since you emailed to do a survey about the service I thought I would let you know how absurd this new policy is.

Minimal wait for appointments and always willing to work in sick visits the same day. Both of our children go here and the staff is great with them!

Molly Bonis

I think they're great. It's the only place I've ever taken my child so I don't have anything to compare it to... but over all we are satisfied and confident in their care.

I have been waiting them for five days to send a note to the doctor who is going to do circumcision for my son. I called them more than 5 times, but still didn't send it. The doctor office said they can not make an appointment unless they get notes from my son's doctor. Always they put me on hold, when I call them. I left them voice mails, they never called me back. It's horrible customer service

We selected Blue Ridge Pediatrics when I was pregnant with our first child in 2009. In that time, we've seen all the doctors including one who recently left. In full honesty, that was the only doctor that I did not care for after he made offensive comments to me during an appointment in late 2009. I made sure we never had an appointment with him again. The remaining 4 doctors are all excellent but each with different mannerisms and I have never regretted our decision to stay with BRP. I trust and feel comfortable with the care each of these doctors and their staff provide to my children. I have been fortunate to not need their weekend hours until last month and was so grateful then to be seen the same day so my son could get immediate diagnosis and begin treatment versus waiting until the following day. We also had a last minute sick visit just this past week and, not only were seen that day when I called shortly after 3pm asking, but the pediatrician kindly took the time to check my infant's ears as well after her brother was diagnosed with a double ear infection. I was very appreciative to that simple extra step which gave me some reassurance as a parent. I am grateful we discovered BRP 6 years ago and highly recommend them any time another parent asks.

I've been using Blue Ridge Peds since my daughter was born. The providers are awesome. Over the years there administrative staff has been ok, sometimes great other times with much to be desired.

We have seen the doctors at Blue Ridge Pediatrics sine my oldest son was 1 month old, almost 13 years now. We now have 5 children and they are all patients at Blue Ridge Peds. We have always been extremely pleased with the care we receive from the nurses and doctors. They are timely and pleasant and patient, on top of the fact that they are providing quality care. I very much appreciate the fact that I can call the nurse advice line during the day and get a response always within the hour, and usually much quicker than that. I also appreciate that I don't feel rushed when I am asking questions. I feel like they have the time to help me and my child. Also, I am grateful that I can call the on call doctor if my question arises after hours. I have always felt that the doctors take my concerns seriously, and I have never been made to feel like I had annoyed or bothered them. Again, I feel like the doctors truly take the time for my children. The walk-in clinic that is offered every morning is very helpful. When a child wakes sick, you know you can be seen first thing in the morning. You don't have to call and make an appointment for later that day, you can just walk-in and have your child seen. I also am so grateful for the number of urgent care or emergency room visits I've been saved because they see sick patients on Saturday and Sunday mornings. You do have to call those mornings and get an appointment, but it is so nice to go to the office and not the ER. I have been to both the Blue Ridge and the Brier Creek offices. The front desk staff at both has always been friendly and helpful. I cannot say enough about how confident I am in the care that my children receive from the doctors and nurses at Blue Ridge Pediatrics. I feel that they are thorough and careful. I feel that they explain things well. I feel that they genuinely care about my children and their health and well-being.

I will recommend this practice to everyone, they were very friendly, I called because I need a doctor to see my 7 months daughter, since the doctor she had refused to see her because she didn't have appointment and they don't accept walk ins (I will not recommend WakeMed Physician Practices Pediatrics to anybody, I have a very bad experience with them), and the scheduler of Blue Ridge Pediatrics understood the urgent of my sick baby and she find me an appointment for the same day, she understood the worry I was , I'm very thankful that they took my baby and a doctor assisted her with the roseola virus she got. I transferred my daughter with no doubt to this practice, plus you can talk with someone for questions all year long.

The building is old and run down I overheard the front desk talking about how it has black mold in the air, which they failed to tell me when I asked about all the areas that were blocked off. I was told they are remodeling. My child is extremely allergic to mold and has asthma. We are never returning. I cannot trust anyone in there. Aside from that the physicians are always contradicting each other regarding the asthma plan for my child. The manager is by far the rudest person I have ever met. My advice is to stay away.

My children have been patients at Blue Ridge Pediatrics for almost seven years. The doctors are excellent diagnosticians and do a great job interacting with children. I really appreciate that they are available seven days a week and they respond quickly to off-hour calls.

Jacquelyn Rotella

I love my sons Pediatric office! They only have maybe a 15 minute wait, at the longest! All of the staff seem highly educated and the Doctors are very thorough and caring! I’d recommend them to anyone!

Amazing doctors! Gave my son special attention as he was very sick and we had been unable to get there due to hurricane weather. Stayed after normal business hours to make sure he got the help he needed

My children have been patients at Blue Ridge Pediatrics for almost 17 years. The office staff is friendly. The nursing and medical staff are professional and knowledgeable. More importantly, they trust parent's instincts and listen to you and your child, They give quality care with a human touch.

Dr. D’Avanzo discovered a new heart murmur during a routine physical several months ago on my son before he went to college. He was obviously very thorough to have found this during a checkup. After discovering the murmur he was very informative, kind and understanding to us. After referring us to an amazing cardiologist, it was thankfully determined that his heart murmur was benign. He called us at home several times, during the extensive radiological tests the cardiologist ordered, to update us with the results. My kids have been seeing Dr. D’Avanzo since birth. As a Mom (and a nurse) he is by far one of the best Pediatricians around!

Love love love this pediatrician!! The next day after he was born they came and continued to check on him constantly, especially Dr. Vijay which is why is AMAZING!! All the doctors are great. My favorite doctors would have to be Dr.Vijay and Dr.Baldwin. They are great with my son and inform me on certain topics above and beyond. This doctor is so good, we relocated to Gastonia, NC and drive three hours just to have him come here and have an emergency pediatrician back home just in case. They are worth it! Just a big thank you from the Grisby family to all the nurses, doctors, and staff. They are ALL nice as well.

The physicians and staff at Blue Ridge Pediatrics have the utmost respect for Dr. Louis Allen. We were deeply saddened by his decision to retire at the end of April 2014, and we wish him and his family well. The physicians of Blue Ridge Pediatrics and all reputable pediatricians follow the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the CDC recommendations for vaccinating children. Keeping our staff, patients, and the community safe from preventable diseases is extremely important, and our parents appreciate that we take this seriously. Blue Ridge Pediatrics has been proud to serve our community for over 60 years. We strive to provide the best level of care possible for our patients. We encourage our parents to come to us with their concerns, as the practice takes every opportunity to improve processes and care when necessary.

Great doctors that show genuine concern for my son! Dr. Baldwin is awesome!!

It feels so good to know your kids are in good hands. The doctors im Blue Rudge Pediatrucs follow up in case your child has a problem. You don't even need to call , they call to ensure your child is okey or to advice in case you can't go to The clinic .

We've taken our son to Blue Ridge Pediatrics since he was born for his check-ups and inevitable childhood colds and coughs. The doctors have no bedside manner, make rude assumptions, and offensive cliches. They are not supportive of breastfeeding and tried to push formula during multiple visits even though mom and baby weren't having any problems whatsoever. They throw prescriptions at infants for symptoms without actually trying to diagnose the cause. The front office staff is inept and impossible to deal with. Avoid at all costs. A recent visit was the last straw. If you truly care about your child's health, this isn't the place to go.

My son saw 4 of the doctors during his time there, 2 were nice enough, the other 2 had terrible bedside manner/very rough with my infant son and would cause him to scream and cry (which is very unlike my son). They also sends all kinds of text/emails/phone calls telling you that if you aren't there 15 minutes early then your appointment will be cancelled and you will be charged and on and on. Well, we made sure we were there 15 minutes early every time. It would have been nice if the doctor's were the same. We had an appointment where the doctor was an hour late. When we asked what was going on it wasn't that he was busy with another child - the doctor wasn't even in the office!! Totally unacceptable. When I brought this up to the practice manager she (very rudely) told me that the doctor was in a weekly meeting at another location and that's why he was late. If you know your doctor has a meeting don't schedule an appointment for the same time. My time is just as important as your time. Lastly, my son was seen twice in the hospital by the doctors at Blue Ridge when he was born yet when I saw the EOB from my insurance I noticed that they claimed that they saw him 3 times when in fact they only saw him twice. The practice manager tried to lie and make up an excuse for what the 3rd visit was I had the hospital pull all the records on my son and once I informed the practice manager that I had the paperwork and knew for a fact she was lying she finally refunded my money (my insurance only covers 2 visits in the hospital which is why I even noticed they claimed 3 visits). I am fully convinced that the office reported this claim fraudulently and they probably do this for all their patients that are born after working hours thinking that the new and busy parents will never notice. I strongly discourage anyone from going to this practice. We switched to Raleigh Children's and Adolescent Medicine and have been extremely satisfied with all the care our son has received there.

Don't go here unless you are desperate, even then try to find somewhere else

This place is a joke! My son previously had diarrhea which occurred for about a week. When booking an appointment for him to be seen, the front desk made me aware that our insurance was currently inactive and that they would not be able to assist my son. A few minutes after the call I received a text message stating that the appointment had been cancelled, which we NEVER booked an appointment to begin with. Once I had gotten the insurance situated they made him another appointment. Well, when we arrived Dr. Diavonzo was NOT friendly at all. He stated that my son had a stomach virus and to give him "cool aid". He just seemed like he was completely over his job that day. He walked out of the room and never initiated that he wasn't coming back.. so My fiance and I sat around thinking he was coming back into the room and he never did. A few days later I received a letter in the mail stating that my son could no longer be seen at this practice due to a "missed appointment". When I called to clarify this information they stated that this was due to the "no call no show" which I was completely confused about because I NEVER even booked an appointment to begin with, due to them saying that my insurance was inactive. All in all I don't recommend this place especially since Dr. Baldwin is no longer there that was the only Dr. that I would deal with there. All the others are pretty crappy.

I'm not sure why I see so many negative comments. Let's face it, taking our kids to the pediatrician is rarely a fun experience. Screaming kids, germs! But, the care my children are given has always been positive. I prefer the Blue Ridge location over the Brier Creek location. Yes, the office is a little old and outdated, but I am not paying for a pretty office. I am paying for great doctors who listen to me and my kids. I have no complaints. As far as the staff goes, I think they have always been nice. They work hard and have to juggle a ton of things, all at once. A smile could go a long way. I'm sure they'd appreciate that.

My child has been a patient of Blue Ridge Pediatrics for 5 years and I absolutely love it. When my daughter was born 5 years ago she had a broken collar bone from birth Dr. Allen came to my bed side and assured me and my husband that everything was going to be alright and that if I had any questions or concerns to call and he would be available. This was a man of his word because 2 weeks later the office was closing and I had an emergency that I needed to have my daughter seen at the ER and when I called Dr. Allen and told him what was going on he came to the ER and saw my daughter. How many can say that there child's pediatrician will come to the ER to make sure that there patient is receiving the best care? I say that this is over and beyond pt care. In the event that I had to make an appointment with another provider I have received nothing but the best care from everyone there, and now that I have a little boy 5 years later I still receive the same kind and tender care from each staff member. I travel all the way from Chapel Hill to only this location and I absolutely love it. I have visited other practices where they don't remember your name and do not smile but here is where I get the best treatment for my children. This is what quality care is and should be. Thank you soo much to the staff and Doctors at Blue Ridge Pediatrics.

My children have been patients at Blue Ridge Pediatrics since they were born, and I couldn't be more thankful. I hear my friends talk about how their practices can't see their sick kids until tomorrow, and I just don't have that problem. Between sick kid clinic hours every day, and the nice appointment people, I always get in when I need to. Also, when you call after hours, one of the Pediatricians, not a gatekeeper, calls you right back. Every time. Even in the middle of the night. They tell you that if you need to talk to them and don't get a return call in 15 minutes, to call again. They are very attentive, and I've never been made to feel like a pest for asking questions and checking on something. They also do a new parent orientation that is very helpful for new moms and dads, and by the way, my kids love them too.

I use to love this office UNTIL. Dr Allen retired then the Office manager and one of the physicians had the nerve to say to a patient (ME and another patients mother) that Dr Allen was the cause of all the problems in that office ........Really. Let me begin since he has been gone. My son had labs for Rocky MT spotted fever ,guess what I had to keep calling for 3 weeks and it took getting ugly before I could get the results. Really Dr Allen would normally call me within days personally and tell the results. i also watched and heard the manager threaten a mother that if she didn't get all her sons shots in one visit v/s breaking up in several visit they would dismiss her from the practice. (REALLY this is not PATIENT CARE) . So DON'T BLAME ALL YOUR PROBLEMS ON SOMEONE WHO HAS LEFT WHO CAN'T DEFEND HIMSELF NOW. YOU SHOULD BE ASHAME.

Thank you for the kind service this morning with my daughter. Also, thanks for the reminder that kids need physicals too, not just us adults falling apart. My daughter was much happier after the visit this morning.

Always helpful and fast services. My daughter actually likes going to the doctor.

This office became a nightmare once Dr. Allen retired. They mixed my child up twice with another child and even made notes in his permanent medical records that were supposed to go into a different child's records and then said they could not remove it. They deactivate my online portal when I said I would transfer practice so I could not print out my records myself and insisted that I pay $46.00 to obtain the records. They should be ashamed of the way they run their practice no.
