This place had been great for our family until a really horrible recent visit with our sick child, who was turned away and later diagnosed with acute respiratory infection by a Sisters of Mercy Urgent Care.
We had taken both our children here for the first two years of their lives and had great experiences with the doctors. We were very aware of the new "late policy" and how they would no longer be honoring appointments that arrive ten minutes late. We arrived at their front desk 20 minutes early before the appointment time. Due to a mix-up with our child's insurance status which was completely out of our control, the front office at first claimed a doctor would still see us as we worked out the problem. But after the 10 minute mark passed by the original appointment time, we were told that "time's up" and that we'd have to reschedule. We waited two months to get that appointment.
This, after their front office staff provided the wrong fax number for our insurance company to send over the proper documents to satisfy the insurance needs, which could have been handled in a few minutes had they been more professional and organized. They also lied to our face about how they had initially told us we could skip insurance and just pay the full amount to be seen that day (which we would have because our child was so sick), but this was not true - they never gave us that option and you could see the staff scrambling to cover up their mistake and rather than be professional they just decided to lie about that detail.
Dr. Kohn and some of the other doctors were great, but the staff out front and the administrative decisions they have made in order to take on what must be a giant swell in patient numbers over the past year has led them down a very cold and unsympathetic path. I'm not sure what happened here but it seems like a classic greed/money grab situation. It was like - great practice establishes reputable health care for children, doctors spend lots of time with patients and listen to all questions and concerns, and then all of a sudden they explode their patient numbers, doctors spend less time with patients and are just scurrying from room-to-room to try to get everyone in. Basically a turn-and-burn medical operation.
We will never return here. Our child had a serious health problem and they turned us away due to their own mismanagement, ineptness and dishonesty.
