I can only comment on the labor and delivery department of the hospital but it get fairly busy which isn't very surprising since it is located in nyc. expect to wait awhile if you have to come in for an emergency and even if you are in labor. Arrived to have one of the doctors check how dilated I am and was put in bed setup in the middle hallway with temporary partitions because there was no available rooms at the time. fortunately, last minute a room freed up so i can be checked in there rather than the hallway I also delivered my baby here so my experience was mediocre considering this is nyu I expected more. The food was okay but the salads are not the most freshest. The newborn will be checked by an in house pediatrician so make sure you request a copy of your newborn medical records to be sent to your pediatrician because they tell you they will fax it pediatrician (even take down your pediatrician's info) but it never get faxed) before you get discharged. the nice thing about this hospital is they allow you partner to stay overnight with you after the birth which certain hospitals like beth israel doesn't allow if you have a roommate. do keep in mind the room you will be staying after delivering your baby (recovery room) will be a shared one unless not a lot of people are delivering the same time you are. your partner will have a reclineable chair to sleep in. which is a plus. your partner will be expected to buy their own food (which is normal) during your stay at hospital and there are a few decent places to eat across the street. after i got discharged from hospital i got a follow-up call about how i and my baby was doing, which is standard procedure and i appreciate.

One of the best hospital on the planet the staff are amazing and the doctors and nurses well informed and ready to tackle whatever is laid out in front of them. I've been here multiple times and never ever fail to meet expectations if not exceed them!

Was sent there for blood and lab work, the place was dirty and smelled, the bathroom they sent me to use for a urine sample was the same bathroom that was used as a public bathroom, the tech's lab vest was dirty and the room where they drew blood was so small and had dry blood on the walls, I was forced to use this faculty because of the VCF

Guadalupe Ramirez

Great staff

SHARON PANG

The doctor we have for my grandfather is great, and cares about us. However, I have had a horrible experience with the rest of the staff. There was one very disrespectful security guard who thought it would be fun to play a game on my cousin and I. It was very unprofessional and extremely disrespectful. I am horrified that HE is one of the unqualified staff to protect the hospital. What a joke, I am extremely upset.

I honestly think that Tisch Hospital has one of the worst emergency rooms in NYC. I've been to several. I don't write reviews but I think it is important to share when it concerns people's health especially in emergency situation. Yes, the stuff was nice, but that was it. I spent there all night sitting on a bed in a hallway with many other people and left in the same condition as I came in. Had to return because of unbearable pain, waited again, sent back crying with no additional care, AND billed twice. Haha...

Don't. Hate the hospital. The er well it's a whole different story. The nurse are mean & stupid. By that i mean no bed manners when it comes to a patient. They should take a training on how to treat a human being better.

The quality of staff at this hospital varies greatly. Some will take their time and explain things well, while others give misinformation. Some staff did not even seem to understand how the epidural machine works. Several times during the night the machine started beeping due to occlusion (aka the tube being pinched). When we asked why that was happening, the nurse gave different explanations each time, none of which had anything to do with the actual problem, hence it kept happening, causing my wife and I, as well as our neighbors, to have a couple of very sleepless nights. The next day we asked a different nurse and she told us about the tube being pinched. All too often it was very difficult to get a straight answer throughout our time there. Another thing that was apparent there was the lack of synchronicity between the staff. Some told us that my wife should not eat until after delivery. Others said to eat a hearty meal. One administered more pitocin than the doctor ordered, causing the baby's bpm to spike during contractions. When the doctor returned she mentioned it was a critical error and to drop the pitocin. One nurse said that the dilation balloon was not ready to be removed yet, while the other nurse easily removed it after giving it a firm tug. After delivery, we were handed the sheet with the baby's footprints and they wrote the sex wrong... seriously? Also, after dark, you would think you could get some sleep since it's quiet hours right? WRONG! The cleaning staff doesn't respect this and makes a ton of noise, tossing things around with no regard for anyone. Lastly, I did not feel I was treated as my wife's partner while I stayed there by some of the staff. For example, had they communicated to me what to do if the baby's bpm dropped under a certain level, I would have told my wife to change her position rather than have all the nurses alarmed and swarm over her causing unnecessary stress. The doctor barely ever made eye contact with me and the hospital, in general, is not set up to be very friendly to partners. If you want to use the bathroom, you have to walk all the way down the hall, through locked doors and possibly wait in line for the single-person bathroom. Otherwise you have to take the elevator all the way down to the lobby to have a more decent bathroom. The space of the rooms is a joke as well. We felt like we were in a cage for 4 days. It is also insanely cold in the hospital. We both caught colds during our stay there. I realize this review sounds very negative, but at the end of the day, they helped us deliver a healthy baby so we are very grateful. Some of the staff was amazing and went out of their way to ensure we knew everything that was going on and what to expect. Everyone's experience will be different there and hopefully yours, if you choose to deliver there, will be positive and a bit more organized. From what I hear NYU Langone is one of the best in the area so it doesn't sound like there are many better options.

Had my first ever surgery here. I was scared as heck, but they were compassionate and staff was amazing. It was world class care all the way at this hospital.

Will Bordelon

Very poor experience. Arrived for SCHEDULED induction at midnight. No room available. They put my very pregnant wife in a lobby to wait uncomfortably without any feedback on how long we woukd be here. Random people sleeping around us. No doctor or admitting. I regret choosing this hospital for our delivery. I hope you dont make the same mistake.

AWFUL, DISRESPECTFUL AND INCOMPETENT STAFF. I was not given an estimate for how long I would have to wait to be treated. When I asked to get some water and know how much longer it would take, the nurse simply walked away and ignored me. I wouldn't trust this hospital even with a splinter.

Never got treated so quickly in an emergency room before. I've been to that ER four times and I was in and out very quickly on three occasions. The other time they actually forgot about me and I ended up just walking out after a few hours without seeing a doctor. Not only that, but I came in all four times for randomly losing consciousness, and I felt like the diagnosis was rushed just to get me out of there. They have me discharged after an hour for something most other hospitals want to admit me for a full work up. That's why I deducted three stars from the rating. Anything less than best effort is unacceptable when health is concerned. Especially if the primary function is to address medical emergencies. Luckily Bellvue is only two blocks south of here, on 1st avenue.

Mary Enquist

Amazing care! I had two babies here.

I go to NYU for my MS and Brain Anuerysm. I wS admitted for a MS relapse 3 weeks ago and I must say, i was blown away by the care I received from Doctors, Nurses, PCT even housekeeping. The kimmel building is beautiful. And food was superb. Was treated as any patient should be treated, with dignity and respect, needless to say, i said goodbye to bronx hospitals and transferred all of my care to NYU

I will never go back to this hospitals' ER. I have no complaints with the nurses, dr's and staff. They were good and NOT reflective of my 1 star. My MAJOR COMPLAINT is with the environment. Sick people are packed like sardines. The next bed was inches from mine. It wasnt even a bed it was a mini bed. 3 of us were crammed inches apart. You can hear all the questions, diagnosis, and lab readings of patients around you. The ER resembles a 3rd world, war torn triage. Beds everywhere. In the halls, against the walls, inches apart. Everytime the nurse for the patient next to me needed to move him or his bed or his IV my bed would get incessantly bumped. I waited like 40 mins for discharge papers and something for pain. It was getting more crowded, more beds. I walked out. I have great insurance that my husband pays a lot of money for through his job. I dont need to go to a place where the environment is subpar.

A family member of mine passed away at this hospital earlier this year,in between the change of multiple rooms during their stay it seems they misplaced their belongings. I made this known to them and they said they don't know where his belongings are. This alone made the whole experience even worst then it already was.

Mr XP

Attentive staff, spacious lobby, but with cramped service facility and very uncoordinated communnitions.

Devorah Sklar

Good for medical appointments Has a kosher room Nice place

Hydration Education

Ok in the beginning then, after being left for hours for someone to read the test results. If condition a problem, really slow to advise. If not a problem, maybe a nurse or pa would look in on patient taking up space who could be discharged and permit a place for those sitting on the hallway floors to be given a seat. Just sayin, can feel that the facilitywants to do a good job. One person with a watch set to real time, not hospital shift time, could perhaps quickly improve this classic botched management snafoo. Can't get it done, call me and I'll get your patients out the door in a timely fashion vs. Sit for hours and hours, like on a subway or plane with no updates.

The hospital is very clean and well kept. Service is amongst the best in New York City. The staff is very knowledgeable and attentive. They're onsite cafeteria is also great. They're are plenty of healthy options for it's customers. There's valet parking at the main entrance and concierge service to assist with passenger pickup and drop off. The information desk at the entrance will assist with navigating through the NYU campus.

I had a mix experience . The nurses in delivery were the best thing ever . I couldn’t ask for more . After having the baby in recovery I had some nice nurses and some that simply were slower... it seams that some need some extra motivations , like donuts or cookies . So I guess it depends if you are luck ! I had an uncomplicated delivery . the pediatrician on duty was horrible . Super insensitive... try to get your own pediatrician . this woman was from hell ... breastfeeding support was great, as the classes given , that I recommend that you attend . Is also good that hubby attends the one of go home . They go by several things that are importante to take care our baby home . As to be showed how to work with the breast pump if you are are 1st time mother. Food is good and is order in advance . Salmon was great, I had it every day. Also the package they give you with necessities is great , I didn’t really miss anything. Ah but I took flip flops shower. If not in a private room try to be in the window side the door side is horrible ! Really ...

Great hospital overall. Just dont read any of the hospital information on the walls in the lab. Your told not to stand there, so they keep the aisle clear. How do you read things like the hosipital mission statement etc. If your told you can't stand where they have hung them. These need to be moved and available for patient's to read.

On 11/22/2015 i delivered my son at this facility. My stay there was great and all the doctor's and nurses were wonderful. The care i revived from this hospital was exceptional, i got all my needs attended to and in a timely manner. If i was to have another baby i would definitely give birth here again. My nurses on the delivery floor, Anna was the greatest. .. the only thing is no parking..i think there should have parking for the dads.

The nursing staff is arrogant and disrespectful to immediate family members. The hospital willfully violates the demand in the HIPAA law and regulations, that require hospitals to establish verification methods to speak with family members over the phone. The so called "Compliance Officer" at the hospital stated that the Tisch Hospital has decided to violate federal law, by creating an illegal internal policy of not only to refuse families over the phone from obtaining medical conditions of their loved ones, but also they have decided to ignore federal law by not establishing any telephone verification systems whatsoever. My father entered the hospital on October 22nd, 2015, for routine heart valve transplant through catherization. Although, all my my fathers vitals were weak, and did not appear to be recovering, he was ummarily discharged from the hospital, only to suffer a near complete organ failure do the the defective implanation of the new heart valve. Did the hospital discharge my father so that he would not die at their hospital, thus adversely effecting their heart valve survival statistics? Fortunately, St. Francis Hospital on Long Island aggressively treated my father until he regained most of his strength, and all of his organs recovered significantly, especially his heart. Later, he was transferred back to the Langone Heart Center, at the Tisch Hospital, where his doctor repaired the heart valve leak. However, now both the ''patient relations" department, and the compliance officer, who are knowingly violating federal law, have instructed my father's nursing team to not only act arrogant, insulting and disrespectful to his son, but they often ask him questions about his medical care when they know that his mental capacity is not able to make informed decision. One of the doctors, actually complained to my father, while he was tired and without his mental faculties.

I am very pleased with my delivery experience at NYU Tisch hospital. Nurses and doctors were very nice and attentive to my needs. The delivery room was very comfortable and there was a place for my husband to sleep. Special thanks to Dr Mahino Talib and anesthesiologists. Rooms where I stayed with the newborn were less comfy (shared rooms for two on 13 floor). The nurses there were very caring and always available when I needed them. Nurses showed me how to latch and gave me other valuable advice. Special thanks to nurse Michelle.

I was there in emergency room at last night for chest pain. I was waiting for 1 hour to see the doctor but she never show up since I had a lot of pain. Her assistant came to me and then they said I have to take Advil and I will be OK. So they charged me $2590 for just 2 hours and I didn't even see any real doctor. Well I will never ever back to the most expensive & annoying emergency room in NYC. The other thing which really annoyed me it's about how they take care of elderly patients. They definitely have an attitude for elderly people who come there alone. Well hope someone can fix that mess and plz don't go there cause you won't see any real doctor.
