My appointment was at 530. I got there at 520, and was completely finished by 540. Dr. Azfar was fantastic. I expected to only have a consultation since I was a new patient, but she went to work right away removing my Milia (bumps of buildup on my eyelid, different than pimples or blackheads). She took great care to minimalize my discomfort (when you're getting mini cysts removed from your eyelid, it's not going to be pain free). She also discussed with me what to use around my eyes to prevent future Milia, and she gave me some free samples to try. She also noticed all my freckles and strongly advised me to come back for a skin screening, which I will absolutely do. Overall, she was thorough, quick, and had a great demeanor. Highly recommend her.

Dr. Arash Akhavan is a miracle worker. I went to see him for cosmetic reasons and he is by far the best. I used to go to the Park Ave cosmetic dermatology offices that have been recommended by NY Magazine, but I decided to give The Dermatology and Laser group a try as it is closer to where I live. After seeing Dr Akhavan, my past experiences all pale in comparison. I highly recommend him and his office.

Giving this rating for Poor customer service and not giving any value to customer's time. I'm a breastfeeding mom with a 4 months old baby and I wanted quality, relaxed and safe treatment. Upon arrival, I learned that they (Ashley) had never booked my appointment even though we had communicated via email and I had it in writing. The tried to give me another appointment next week. This was extra difficult for me because I had done lots of arrangements (preparing baby, arranging babysitter, etc) to make this time work. When I finally told them I want my deposit back and not come back again, they took me in after 30 mins. All this time I didn't get a single apology from any of the staff including Ashley who completely ignored me when I was standing next to her at the reception. This was not a cheap treatment (650$ for one session) and I totally expected a better customer service.

I have been to the office for both medical skin and cosmetic reasons, and I find the office and setting very professional and the staff friendly and accommodating. I've never had to wait very long, compared to most doctor's offices and I can get in and out pretty quickly, making it easy to make an appointment over lunch. What I like most about the office though, is having moved here a couple of years ago, is that I found a doctor I feel comfortable with on both a medical and cosmetic basis. I've found in the past, that while many doctors do both, they focus on one more than the other and it shows when you talk to them. I've found more cosmetic doctors not really as competent/educated in my medical concerns, and more medically-focused doctors who tend to be dismissive of my cosmetic concerns because that aren't as "serious." Both are important to me. Dr Akhavan has been very helpful on both ends and I feel very comfortable that he can speak to me about both concerns equally. I would recommend this office for both medical and cosmetic issues.

I really cannot recommend Dr. Akhavan highly enough. I started going to a former colleague of his and when she left I switched to Dr. Akhavan and have never looked back. Dr. Akhavan is very thoughtful in his recommendations and they have made a real impact on my skin. I love that he has so many non surgical methods to improve skincare and I am impressed that he consistently is upgrading his machines and technology in order for his patients to have the best results. I really would like to give this place 4 1/2 stars. The facilities is clean and there is plenty of room for you to sit. My appointment was for 2pm, and I didn't wait more than 15 before I was taken in to see the doctor. The doctor was knowledgeable and told me things that my other dermatologist failed to mention to me. I have a follow with him next month. For my first visit I was not impressed by my greeting or the way I was being taken care of. The two young girls in the front had no personality. Would it hurt to smile and look at the person your talking to. These two are the reason why I gave this review a 4 1/2 rating.

They have very good communication medium, they send out doctor notes as text on mobile in encrypted format. They also do a regular follow up and also helped me cut down with prescription prices. I was so excited for my consultation due to the amazing reviews, only to be disappointed. When I made my first inquiry via email, Alyssa was very kind so I scheduled the consult, but had to reschedule due to work. When I sent my new date, I was accused of no-showing and told of the consult fee. After sending Alyssa our email correspondence, she noticed I did not no -show. This did not sit well, but I still decided to move forward with the consult as I’m suffering from melasma. The day of the consult, I arrived about 20-30 mins early, the receptionists did not seem genuine, approachable or welcoming. After filling out the paper work and paying for the consult, I met Dr. Akhavan whom is very knowledgeable, but unfortunately I felt rushed and like I did not matter. There also ended up being a misunderstanding between me and Alyssa (via email) about the prices and packages. I was told to make a follow up appointment at the desk for my first session, but at this point the receptionist did not even acknowledge me so I walked out left feeling really down and unvalued.

Lovely office, Amazing patient and knowledgeable Doctor. The front desk annoyed me a bit but I'll give them a pass. I was 15 minutes late to my appt. due to a rain storm. I was told it was okay but that I may have to wait a few minutes. I waited over an hour and 15 patiently and then when inquired was then told that I could not get an ETA on when I'd be seen because I was late and others after me where on time. Granted ...I was late but give me an option, that answer did not sit well with me. I would have totally rescheduled to avoid spending an entire afternoon waiting. In any case, after pushing a bit - I was seen in the next 10 min and all was forgiven after meeting with Dr. Azfar. She is patient and thorough.

Dr. Akhavan was extremely good. My family has a history of skin cancer and I believed I needed some moles removed. Dr. Akhavan examined them and she was extremely detailed what she thought about each one, showing me some examples - and was able to remove both of them right there at that moment. They have healed well. She was a great doctor and made sure to give me all the details I needed to take care after at home - and her office followed up to tell me whether they were melanoma and if I needed to return. I have three teenagers, all with their own unique issues with their skin (acne, psoriasis, etc.). They all see Dr. Aleleh Akovan- she is our family's dermatologist, who always seems to have tools at her disposal to aid my kids. I remember feeling powerless over my acne as a teen, while my kids are made to feel anything but, in her office. Oh, and the office is super chic and clean - like you visiting a special place, which makes my kids (and me) feel special too. She explains treatments plans thoroughly, explaining why she is utilizing a particular medication or product. There is also an email system set up where the kids can ask questions (though I haven't personally used that yet). I have been pleased with the availability of appointments, time spent with us during those appointments and expectation of time waiting.

Terrible experience! they told me that the wart on my foot would be easily taken off, all it would cost would be my $70 office visit cost. (this was after taking my insurance card and looking up my benefits) 6 weeks go by and still no follow up on if my skin growth (changed to a skin growth now) was benign or not. (also i got two more bills in the meantime one from them for an additional $112 more!) I called the office and they said that they would call me back with my results shortly. Morale of the story is that they don't follow up with their patients and also bill the heck out of the insurance on things that they KNOW aren't needed. When Dr Arash Akhavan called me back, he said that this is something that they know is not treated in one visit and that i would have to continually come back for visits and pay $70 + insurance billings of their discretion. If they would of told me all of this information from the beginning, I would of never made that decision to cut my foot open and to have to do that every couple weeks. NOT FUN! Was completely misguided and the owner/Dr completely supports it! WOULD STAY CLEAR OF THIS PRACTICE.

I have been seeing Dr. Porter for approximately a 9 months to a year now. Every visit I had was pleasant. For one they accept my insurance. The front desk staff and the doctor are pleasant and professional. I never waited for more than 20 minutes to be seen, talk about efficiency. The office has a relaxing decor and comfortable chairs. I had a very active outburst of acne and the doctor provided me with a care regimen tailored to my life and my skin type that worked over the course of my visits. I went to this office for a consultation for plastic surgery and was instantly impressed. The office is beautiful and modern. The staff were super friendly and efficient as I did not have to wait at all. I met with Dr Scarpidis who was very nice and thorough, he took the time to properly explain all my options and answer my many questions. Although I felt super nervous prior to arriving, he put my mind at ease about the procedure and I now feel comfortable returning there for treatment!
