I chose Dr. Raviv to perform my premium cataract surgeries (Symphony Lens) because of his skill both as a surgeon and as a doctor. Dr. Raviv is an incredible surgeon and a very thorough, kind and patient doctor. I was highly myopic and extremely nervous about cataract surgery, researching every aspect to understand the process. I wore both soft and hard contacts at the same time to obtain visual acuity. I made the absolute right choice in Dr Tal Raviv out of my excel list of 20 highly regarded cataract surgeons, I've been compiling for the past 1.5 years. Dr Raviv answered all of of my questions during the consult & emails prior to the surgery. Had the completely painless surgery 4 days ago . My cataract was dense/brunescent & had a Symfony lens put in "So Far So Good", Left hospital wearing provided sunglasses & my IOL eye was able to see better than my a non cataract eye on drive home, clarity, colors reading road signs etc. It is seeing even better as days go by.Rest assured you can not find a better cataract surgeon in the world... Dr Raviv is up there among very the best!

Doctor Raviv is an excellent surgeon. NY EYE and EAR needs to improve their processing and scheduling. The day of my surgery there were extraordinary delays in scheduling which delayed my procedure 5 hours, and I was misinformed by staff what to expect post op. It was a distressing experience which EVERYONE encountered that day, not just I. Dr. Raviv took the time to come talk to me and explain that 1) his office did not reschedule me, as I had been told by hospital staff, and 2) the post op instructions I was given were wrong. If you can avoid NY EYE and EAR, do. If you need eye care, see Dr Raviv.

I found Dr. Raviv to be both very professional and friendly. I am very happy with my cataract surgery in how it was carried out and the results. Every step was explained to me with the purpose of putting me at ease. A few hours after surgery late on Friday afternoon, when I was concerned about a fast change in vision (from corneal swelling) Dr. Raviv stayed at his office after it was closed and examined my eye and let me know that this was a natural consequence soon after surgery and there was no real cause for concern. I was referred to Dr Raviv by my optometrist as he detected a cataract. When I went to see Dr Raviv, he was extremely personable, friendly and just plain nice. The staff was fantastic. I had the full battery of tests to look inside my eye (after being dilated) and then met with Dr Raviv. I am a fairly complicated case as I have keratoconus in both eyes and wear hard contacts. I had to come back for a second visit after having my contacts out for at least 2 weeks. After redoing the tests, Dr Raviv gave me my options. Unfortunately due to the keratoconus I wasn't a candidate for the multi-focal lenses, which basically give you fully corrected vision for both reading and distance. However, I was a candidate for the mono vision solution - one eye for distance and one for reading. I had the first done last week on a Thursday. By the end of the day, I could see perfectly out of the eye for distance- at my post-op checkup the next day, I was measured at 20/25! It is absolutely life-changing to not wear corrective lenses after 40 years of needing glasses/contacts. I can't wait to have my other eye done next week - there is a very good chance I'll be completely free of corrective lenses. Worst case, I may need some very thin glasses for extreme distance and for close up reading (progressives), but I think it is unlikely. If you have to get cataract surgery, go see Dr Raviv. He is amazing and did an incredible job with my vision and cataract surgery.

I visited Dr. Raviv’s office today and came away, completely confident the medical direction he provided is 100% sound, understandable and something I look forward to handling. He did a lens replacement a year ago, the experience and the results are far better than promised! Also, I noticed that within the year, the equiptment in the office changed and is more sophisticated. The way they test for ocular pressure uses a mechanism that is colorful vs. the annoying blasts of air I’ve tolerated for years. The office is quiet, effiecent, responsive. I was a challenging case for cataract surgery. I had previous procedures performed on my eyes to correct severe near-sightedness (ALK and RK) in the early days of this technology. I went for a general checkup because it had been over a decade since I saw one last. I had a 12:30 pm appointment and was not seen by anyone until 1:10. There was a nurse who realized this at 1:05 and I heard her telling everyone that I had been waiting for 30+ minutes. I didn't make a scene, I just waited...I was finally seen at 1:10 initially by the technician who checked my vision. Then I saw a doctor (I assume an optometrist) and she was very nice and pleasant. She dilated my eyes so that Dr. Raviv could examine the back of my eyes. Then I was rushed to see Dr. Raviv and the appt was all but 5 minutes since I had no problems ;) . Had the wait not been so long (I was there for over an hour for maybe 5-10 min encounter. However, all the staff were pleasant and I appreciated that they noticed that I had been there forever and did what they could. I would go back.

Dr. Raviv has been a godsend for me. I am a “difficult” case with multiple all conditions in the eye that needed cataract surgery. Because of the difficulty of doing the surgery I was told that there were only a few surgeons in the city qualified to perform the operation. Dr. Raviv was one of those doctors! Prior to the cataract surgery I had two vitrecomies with silicone oil used to help heal my macular hole with detached retina. This surgery was performed by another FYI. So I came to Dr. Raviv with the silicone oil in my eye. The tricky part- performing the cataract surgery with the oil still in my eye. Most people reading this will have no idea what I’m talking about. Suffice it to say it was a difficult surgery. Dr. Raviv did a fabulous job and all went well. For those who know what I’m talking about in terms of vitrectomies and silicone oil Dr. Raviv should be your doctor if you find yourself in my situation and need cataract surgery. I admire Dr. Raviv’s interaction with his patients. He answered every single question I had fully and pleasantly. Very importantly to me is Dr. Raviv manages my expectations. I always knew what would happen and what I would have to work with so I could move ahead with my life. I have also found all the colleagues and employees in the office to be pleasant, courteous and efficient. IMHO if you need cataract surgery your best move is to go to Dr. Raviv especially if your case is diffuse like mine. Good luck!

Dr. Raviv took over the practice of retiring Dr. Steven Keonig. My first and only visit to Dr. Raviv was a stark contrast to the way Dr. Keonig conducted his practice. As soon as I walked into Dr. Raviv’s office s very young girl wanted to put eye drops in to my eyes to dialate my pupils. Now why do this first? How then can my eyes be checked for my vision in order to provide an eyeglasses prescription because it takes quite a while for the dialation of my pupils to return to normal which is when to check your eyes for vision. When one pays for an opthomologost I expect the doctor to perform putting drops in my eyes, not a very young girl (or boy). Dr. Keonig did everything himself and was a very curtious and professional man. Dr. Raviv is the total opposite. Needless to say I refused to have my eye pupils dialated until after my vision was checked and that was my last visit to Dr. Raviv. I then went to an optometrist at Costco who gave me a stronger and better prescription using computerized state of the art equipment which Dr. Raviv did not have. I miss the personal care that Dr. Keonig provided for decades, but it seems that no “modern” doctors of any field gives their patients the kind of personal service that doctors of “yesterday” did for their patients.

Dr. Raviv did cataract surgery on both of my eyes and the results were spectacular. No pain or discomfort and an almost miraculous, immediate improvement in my vision. What's more, I have never experienced a doctor's office run more efficiently. You are seen at the scheduled time of your appointment if not before! I was referred to Dr. Raviv by my ophthalmologist who retired. I chose laser surgery because my first cataract was so brittle that it left 34 bits of debris that looked like floaters and required removal during a second surgery by a retinologist. Dr. Raviv and his staff are friendly and professional. The E. 80th St. surgery center I chose was excellent. The entire procedure seemed simple and efficient--amazing, really. I'm grateful to everyone who participated and recommend Dr. Raviv highly.
