In the past my experiences at Open Bright have been nothing short of amazing. My last experience unfortunately was not. My 5 year old was given laughing gas to receive fill ins. Along with the nitrous, he was given numbing gel and a local on one side of his mouth. The first side she did, where the local was injected, my son was completely calm and the process was great, he barely moved. When it came time for the other side the doctor decided to only use topical gel for numbing and NOT use the local while giving him a fill-in. This is even hard for adults why she thought this was okay for a 5 year old is beyond me. Immediately my son began to scream, cry and squirm in the chair. Totally taking his calm and bearable experience to horrendous. It took me a half an hour to calm him down. I’m not 100% confident on the doctors name so I won’t mention it. As I mentioned out of my 5 visits in the past with both my children this was the worst. I will more than likely go back but my options are open if I find another pediatric dentist before my children’s next follow up.

The facility is great, the dentists are great. My kids experiences every-time they come to the office is great.The administration and/or management of the office is horrible. In my experience, I’ve always have t wait 30 mins to 1an hour for my appointments, which can cause problem if you are a working parent. My last visit they couldn’t figure out the insurance information, it took them forever. I’ve moved out of manhattan over 2 years now, and was still taking my kids to the office despite the horrible wait time, because my kids were happy. But today I weigh my options and decided to keep my up coming appointment with Open Bright and find an office close to my home, only to be told that I have an open balance for a visit that happened 2 years ago, when I’ve visited the office almost 6-8 times since that visit. I was never told about a balance, but was always told to pay deductible/co-pay when I came to my visit. The manager was very a matter of fact about the news, and didn’t seem to care and understand that this could be a problem on their end, but rather felt it was my issue and since I wasn’t planning on coming back that I needed to figure out why I have a balance. No one ever contacted me to about the balance, not an email, a phone call, or a letter. Which confirms why I needed to walk away from this place in the first place.

Be prepared for costly extras and it's your fault. Open Bright billed me $53 per child out-of-pocket for unnecessarily using Fluoride at a routine six-month follow-up appointment. I was not told at any point that Fluoride is not covered twice-a-year by some insurers. I was not told at any point that Fluoride is extra. I was not told that Fluoride would cost me. If I were told this, I would not have put my young boys through the procedure. My one son is a sensitive patient, and he cried through the Fluoride process. Open Bright should have known that my insurance does not cover this. When I called Open Bright over the bill, the manager, Sean, told me their clinic cannot keep track of every patient’s insurance. He told me that when Open Bright called Delta Dental, Delta Dental said “Nay” when asked if my family had visited the dentist within the 2018 calendar year. When I told Sean that Open Bright should have known we were there six months prior upon their recommendation, he said some patients slip through the cracks. He said his office cannot keep track of all patients’ appointments. He blamed me as a parent for not knowing Fluoride is sometimes not covered twice-a-year.

This is the worse dentist for anyonE to take their child, had an appt about 6 months ago with my 4 years, he had a hard time to stay for the whole cleaning process, then i went back for his 6 months follow up, Davis Sean was very rude, he had me waiting there for 30 minutes then he told me I need to pay $365 for PAPOOSE TO HOLD MY CHILD DOWN , i DISAGREE HE THREATENING ME TO LEAVE THE OFFICE OR HE WAS GOING TO CALL THE COPS WHICH I HAD NO PROBLEM WITH BECAUSE I KNOW I WASN'T WRONG SO I TOLD HIM HE NEED TO GIVE THAT IN WRITING HE REFUSE TO DO SO, BUT I ONLY LEFT BECAUSE Y 8YEARS YEARS STARTED TO PANICS ABOUT HIM CALLING THE COPS, WORST PLACE TO GO, HES VERY RUDE. SEAN DAVIS STATED HIS THE MANAGER HE MADE ALL THE DECISION IN THAT OFFICE.

Finding a dentist for children can be a headache. About two years ago I came across open bright through Zoc doc. After an intense search and reading the reviews through zoc doc and yelp etc, I felt comfortable enough to check the place out and make the transition. I am so glad that I did! Dr Hyacinthe and her crew AWESOME are awesome! The place is so clean, nice furniture, they provide headsets for Netflix while the kids are getting work done or some cool shades with a stuff animal to hold! Too bad my kids are getting older bc I’m afraid we will have to leave for an adult dentistry! If only, there is another dental office like this one in Harlem for adults!!

They were really great they were my second opinion. I was told by another dentist that there was no hope for saving her 4 front teeth and that she would need fake teeth put in so she won't have speech problems come to find out they can probably be saved and she won't need fake teeth... they were great they really do a great job showing they care. My experience was horrible even before it began. The doctor was great but just the entire process to get my child's information correct was a mess. The staff were having personal conversations while i was waiting on the line to confirm insurance and they could never find my child even though i received a bunch of confirmation texts and emails.. Not sure if I would want to deal with this again.

Had an ok experience the first time. But the second time they recommended laughing gas for my son, I was told it would be $100 and insurance doesn’t cover it, so I called around to different dentists asking the price for laughing gas and they all were btwn $25-35 dollars!!!!! This place is highly overpriced

Their staff is very courteous and friendly! (I admit to being a bit frazzled when I showed up but they were incredibly nice and patient.). Their office is inviting for children - small chairs and books/toys in the wait area and video screens in each of the examining rooms to distract little ones. Even though my toddler was squirmy and not-so-compliant I never felt rushed and we were given adequate attention. All of my questions were answered. Another plus - I was able to fill out all of my child’s new patient forms online before the visit! I highly recommend them!

We've been going to this practice for a couple years, we now have 2 children there, yearly visits + 1 cavity, and it's been a great experience. I'm amazed at how they're able to get a 1.5 year to open their mouth! Miracles. Scheduling and communication is easy, though best to schedule your visits far in advances when you can, as sometimes they don't have openings for a couple months. The kids love getting their balloons / stickers / new toothbrush, and visits are usually a quick in and out.

The staff at open bright were super friendly and Sean went above and beyond the call of duty to help me. Additionally, the facility is very child friendly- my daughter was super comfortable. The dentist who worked on my daughter (I don't remember her name but, she has beautiful brown curly hair) was patient and handled my daughter with care. I give Open Bright 5 stars.

What a wonderful place! We went for my daughters 1st dental appt and it was a great experience. The office is very clean and bright! My son loves the play area set up for children of all ages....though there's very little wait time. The staff and doctors Morel & Laurie were pleasant and thorough with my child. We had an emergency the night before and was able to be seen early the next morning, very accommodating!! They took very good care of my 3yr old who knocked his tooth out! We always leave the office with either a balloon or toy and now my son asks to go back often. The location is very convenient. I highly recommend, hope this helps!

My soon to be three-year old had his first tumble off the bed and what we thought might be a fractured/loose tooth. Open Bright was able to see him the same day, the staff were warm, understanding, and professional. The facility is child friendly, which helps to calm the nerves of both the parent and child. As this was his first visit to the dentist I feared he would be resistant - he was the complete opposite. Everyone was patient, explained what they were doing to both of us, and allowed the child to be an active participant in their dental care. I could go on and on but will stop here. I highly recommend Open Bright to parents looking for a pediatric dental home for their child(ren). Thanks!

We WONT ever to be coming back to this office, we had an AWFUL experience the first time we were there, the MANAGER called Sean was very DISRESPECTFUL, he threatened us because my kid was distressed and crying while seating because the dentist have NO PATIENCE nor idea how to provide services to a kid, she even make him more frightened and screamed at my son- this Sean told my kid to shut up and even told me a fee is charged when kids are "misbehaving" just like mine. In addition he told me I was not able to control my child, and not to talk to him while on the chair so he could stop being loud. I complained and no one, meaning no one from their office got back to us. And just to let you know Providing pediatric services are more than just painting the place in soft colors and giving stickers.

I don't usually write reviews but I appreciate others, especially about doctors for my kids, so I thought I would write this one. My two girls just saw Dr. Laurie for some cavities and sealants. It was our first time having anything other than a cleaning at Open Bright. Truth be told, we waited a LONG time, but there was no school today. I was a bit worried about the actual work being done, after reading some reviews, however, Dr. Laurie was professional and met my kids needs, as well as mine (patiently answering my questions). Her assistant was amazing. She gently held and stroked my 5 year old's hands during part of the procedure and was attentive to their needs. I am happy with the service we received and feel comfortable with my children in Dr. Laurie's care. The front desk attendant was also friendly and welcoming. Thank you Dr. Laurie and Open Bright!

I took my 3.5 year old son and my 2 year old daughter here for a cleaning and had a really wonderful experience. My son had been to a different dentist last year and was terrified and cried so much they couldn't even do a cleaning. My favorite thing was that when the hygienist brought us back she talked to my kids for about 5 minutes before she even put them in the chair. She shows them each tool she would use on their teeth and demonstrated it on their hand (this is a little toothbrush it vibrates, see the noise it makes? Do you feel it on your hand? This little hook is how I will count your teeth, lets practice counting your fingers...etc) My daughter went first and got to pick a pair of sunglasses and then laid back. I held her hand and the hygienist went quickly and was so kind and explained everything. Then my son took a turn a didn't cry at all. Dr Laurie came to check out their teeth and talked to me about dental hygiene. Both kids got a coin and got to put it in a little machine in the lobby and get a prize. I really couldn't have asked for a better experience. Considering how difficult it was to find someone who took my insurance I didn't expect great quality but my expectations were exceeded.

The place is clean. But I will not be going back . My son has been going here since he was 2 twice the had him mixed up with a kid with the same name . Then they told me he had 2 cavities and they filled them in , in April . Now my son has a infection in his mouth and it is July & they are telling me he has a cavity & the tooth can’t be saved , he has a infection in his mouth and they did not prescribe him any antibiotics or drain the bump he has in his mouth . I don’t see a cavity in the tooth , the tooth is not broken or black and they are quick to want to remove the tooth and he’s only 8 years old .

Horrible experience. The receptionist had very little knowledge of insurance procedures and gave misinformation repeatedly. I had to reschedule my two kids appointments twice due to their error. Surprised at the level of incompetency given so many great reviews. Looks like the dentist may be terrific but the front office staff is terrible. We will never return.

I originally chose this dentists office because of all the amazing reviews that I saw here on yelp. On Friday I called and to make my 16 month old daughters first dentist appointment. They scheduled the appointment for 11:30 am on 3/12/2018 which is today. They asked for my daughters insurance information I gave them everything. So today at 9:00 am on 3/12/2018 the morning of my daughters appointment they called me and asked me to put my daughters dentist name on her insurance. The woman who called me said if I wouldn’t be able to make it in time I could re-schedule. First We’ve never been here before and I didn’t know which dentist she would be seeing. How exactly was I supposed to give the insurance this information? Secondly why didn’t anyone give me the dentist name on Friday and tell me I had to call before the appointment on Monday morning? I tried calling my insurance and was on hold for a very long time around 20 minutes and still haven’t gotten a representative on the line. I hung up and called the dentist office back to reschedule the appointment like I was told I could do. The woman I spoke to was very rude and told me i can’t reschedule because she’s a first time patient so if I didn’t come they would never schedule another appointment for her again. I asked her to speak to the office manager and was transferred to a man. I explained the situation to him and how I was on hold with the insurance and he said to me it literally takes 5 minutes to give the information even though I just told him how long I waited and still couldn’t get a representative on the line. They expected me to be able to call the insurance shower me and my daughter also have breakfast and get dressed do our hair then drive 30 minutes not including any unforeseen issues such as traffic and finding parking which isn’t easy in the city. My daughter is only 16 months old getting out the house in a timely fashion isn’t such any easy task. I explained all this and the “office manager” still didn’t care to rectify the situation. This office is very unprofessional and it looks like I dodged a bullet.

They give you an appointment a month later and the day before ur appt ,they want to verify insurance information. When they get the information, they dont verify and decide to reschedule your appt for another month. Horriable horriable ! Wouldnt bring my dog here! Oh dnt get fustradated with there lack of service over the phone, because a manager will tell you: i will just put you on hold n not pick back up.

I’ve taken my twin boys a couple of times and almost all the receptionist are great (with the exception of one) but what is most important is how amazing the doctors are! They take their time, are patient with the kids, their energy is exceptional and I appreciate how concise they are about informing me everything they are about to do. My children actually enjoy going to the dentist. I will definitely recommend to anyone looking for a good place to take their children!

I used to like this place until after waiting 2.5 months for an appt, taking off work early, racing from Brooklyn and while on the phone giving them my insurance info an hour beforehand I was told I would need to reschedule because they have other patients. Not only did it only take me 5 mins to call the insurance company but I also arrived to my appt on time. You have better luck going to Upper West or East side. These people don't like private insurance and the front desk is obviously overworked.

The dentists there seem to be good but the front desk staff is absolutely incompetent. They cancelled my appointment the day before, even though I confirmed it over the phone 3 times. The explanation for the last minute cancellation was very unclear and I’m still unsure what happened. I had to insist for them to reschedule me in a timely manner. Also, each different staff I talked to gave me a different price for my daughter’s treatment, which was very confusing. And the receptionist seems to have an attitude depending on the client’s background.

My first appointment was wonderful. The lady took care of my daughter gave her a monkey to brush the teeth I would recommend. However administration is extremely horrible and it could have just been my luck. As a new mom and even an employee I didn’t know there was a difference between dentist insurance and health insurance. Now when both parents are separate and have different insurance I didn’t know you had to give up both and not really have the choice. I wanted my daughters father insurance. The manager of this location decided to say I was trying to do fraud. Instead of him just explaining to me he band my daughter name in the system because at the time I didn’t give both insurance. I had to call my job by the way I teach. In which I had them explain and vouch for me throughly. For him to say I was trying to commit fraud and not try to help was disgusting. Only to know when I called back he tried to lie and say he didn’t say it like that. I end up giving all the insurances however he is a terrible representation for the comapany. However. Once again my experience was great but the administration was horrible. By the way the magnet name is Sean horrible horrible manager. He. Needs to be fired.

My 4 year old had a bad experience at a previous dentist and we found Open Bright. What a difference! My daughter was not once afraid or intimidated. She was so upbeat about the experience that she got her xrays and started her cleaning without me even being by her side. Everyone's bedside manor there was so friendly and accommodating. Your receptionists Sean Davidson is not only rude and arrogant, he did not provide any form of courteous care to me and my son who has special needs, even while seeing us in distress, he also violate my child's privacy when I asked to speak to the Dr. in a more private setting yet would not let me speak to her, continually stating to ask him my personal question openly instead, I stated I did not feel comfortable asking him personal questions (as he is not the dentist, and it was in front of another patient in the waiting area), he in turned kept boasting his position of some type of manager and wouldn't assist me getting the Dr. till I had to walk off very upset. He also did not greet us well, as we were late for the appt. and I was trying to explain that, he quickly responds "I didnt ask you any of that, whats the child's name?" (Rude) My son simply needed a cleaning yet the experience left him shaken and me in tears, I was given the option to put straps on him to restrain him to keep still yet I was not fully explained the parts (as I've never had him in straps, I was explained it was something that goes over his arms) yet felt overwhelmed when I seen it was a full body cast of strapping and felt it was extremely invassive, when I seen my son screaming and crying I also started to cry. I was told he was fine, and I was given water cause I was having a slight panic attack cause he was clearly in distress, yet when I brung it up, that well "I signed the consent form" (abit uncompassionate) the dentist did clean very quickly, sang to try to ease him and did seem to care and the nurse did try to ensure that this is standard procedure when a child with special needs can not sit still yet I feel they were desensitized to his level of stress. My son was clearly upset and afraid the entire time and this was his first time doing a cleaning, I am fearful of any other cleanings after a visit to the dentist. If a place is going to claim, "special needs" friendly, that should be the exact experience all around with all staff toward their patient and parents that need that extra support, patience, care, right to privacy, and compassion. Lastly awarness of a special needs child's feeling, sensory issues and pain tolerance levels. Their needs should be accommodated and their emotions and comfort level should be regarded very importantly. I hope the staff ask more questions and try and assest every case specifically unique. 1 star for the Dentist and nurse care.

My first visit went great! I was skeptical at first reading some of the reviews but they were quick and efficient. The place was very clean. Got to the bottom of my daughters problem and even sent me a referral for outside help. Everyone was friendly and most importantly my daughter felt safe. We will be back for her regular 6 months check ups. I even referred them to friends.

Very Courtesy and Warm Welcoming. My son Brandon was there and they gave me a consent call to make sure I(the parent) was cool about it getting his crowned replaced. The Only thing is the web application can get glitchy if not doubled checked with a different computer. Other than that 5 stars.
