Although I did not see Dr. Ortiz, I saw Candice Martinez, PA C. From the moment I entered the office, everyone was friendly and receptive. The whole experience was far better than I expected. Dr. Ortiz was recommended by a friend. Her staff is incredible . Very professional. But very caring.

Dr. Ortiz was very thorough and friendly. I would recommend her to friends and family alike. She could spend a little more time with a patient but you need to realize that she's SO good that it takes 6 months to get in to see her. There are not many dermatologists in Albuquerque but my doctor recommended her highly. I'm sure glad I'm one of her patients now!

If I could give this place an extra 5 stars I would do so in a heartbeat! Not only is the customer service amazing, but the medical staff in this office are incredibly professional and very well educated!! The staff managed to not only make a stressful process quick and painless, but they took the time to ensure that all of my questions were answered. All of the staff, from the amazing front desk ladies, namely Melanie, to the outstanding PA that treated me were all friendly, upbeat, and willing to go above and beyond to ensure that all of my needs and questions were resolved. I just want to say a giant THANK YOU to Melanie and all of the amazing staff at Rio Grande Dermatology for being so amazing!!! 10/5 stars!!!!

Front desk receptionist Melanie was incredibly rude and spoke loudly about my co-pay treating me like I was stupid while the Lobby was crowded. This was my first experience with this office and I’m already put off. Also, getting through to the reception desk via phone is ridiculously difficult. Some people are being seen for something that is potentially scary and being treated this way at the beginning is not conducive of a quality patient experience.

I wanted to have faith in this dermatologist. I’ve seen her for awhile. I have had a history of shin cancers and I see her yearly for that reason, for all over skin checks. For the past three years, at least, I have been pointing out two raised and discolored areas on my face, and expressing my concern. Both locales were areas of prior skin cancers. And every year, she has just looked and said “Hmm.” Today, (after a PA finally biopsied these two areas) I received results indicating that the two spots are both squamous cell carcinoma. Ortiz had at least six opportunities to intercept just one of these two cancers over the years and blew it. I am beyond enraged. One miss I can rationalize; science isn’t always exact. I too am a trained scientist with an advanced degree. But six misses is 100% unacceptable. I don’t know what is up with her; burn out? Tired? Needs to just throw in the towel and work at Starbucks? If scan cancer is a concern for you, I would steer clear of her. Too much risk.
