Mary Ellen was made my day although in difficult pain

I have been a patient of NM Orthopaedics for over 5 years. I have been seen there for knee and spine problems. I have had 2 spine surgeries. Both of them were done by Dr. Ernesto Otero-Lopez. The first was a Laminectomy, the second was Spinal Fusion at the l4-l5 level. Dr. Otero and his staff are the best. I can highly recommend Dr. Otero, Vicki, his medical assistant as well as Cari his surgical assistant. Every time I go in for my checkup it is like being in a part of one happy family. Now that I have found NM Ortho there is no way I will go anywhere else for Ortho related problems. Nor should you.

My appt was for 1pm- I was not called until almost 3pm- no one bothered to tell me there would be a delay. When I was shown to a room by someone ?- they did not tell me their name or their title- they became irritated when I told them I was i upset that I had been waiting for 2 hrs.The person was going to remove my sutures- but there was no sink in the room not any hand gel to put on before the person put on their gloves. The person wasn't sure she had removed all of the sutures so went out for help. Another person arrived- no introduction -who was already wearing gloves- she proceeded to take out her iphone to use as a flashlight to check for suture removal. Now I know this was not a sterile procedure but what is the point of putting on gloves then handing your iphone which must be fairly dirty ? When I was checking out there was the suture removal instruments sitting on top of the counter- which I presumed was the used set. As a retired nurse it upsets me to see a total lack of regard for cleanliness, and respect for the patient.

I just want to thank New Mexico orthopedics for all the great help and work they have done for me. Starting with Elizabeth Martinez and all the way to Dr. Brock what a class act. Liz has gone above and beyond helping me set up my ultrasound and MRI. Thank you so much. This is true patient service!!!

Matthew Storey

Amazing service, Dr. Hansen took care of my father and my girlfriend and went above and beyond the call of duty for a physicians. We are very thankful to have met him and his CMA Monica Owens!

I have been seeing Dr. Ritchie for awhile now for my knee and shoulder. I am extremely happy with the outcome of my treatment. I love his "bed side manner", and he has managed to keep me moving and living life more comfortably without the need for surgery. I can't thank him enough.

Lenann Gardner

Brant was a Godsend. I had a reverse shoulder replacement on January 19, 2018, and he was assigned to do my PT. From the beginning, he seemed to understand me, and knew how to challenge me to do more. I was doing just great when, 2 days shy of 4 months after the surgery, I was in a big car crash. This happened out of state -- a guy drove right into my car as I was doing 35 MPH in the slow lane with a green light over my head. My car was undriveable, and I experienced a lot of shoulder, neck and back pain immediately after the accident. (I had seen the car coming, and had tensed every muscle in my body as I pushed hard on the brake to try to stop my car before he could hit me. I failed to do so!) I did get physical therapy for my neck and back pain from another therapist after the accident, but I continued with Brant over the next 4 months also (very infrequently). Brant gave me diagrams and instructions for exercises and more exercises, and I faithfully did them all. Brant told me that 150 degrees of rotation is that of a "natural" (not operated-upon) shoulder -- today I have 157 degrees of rotation on my left shoulder despite my reverse shoulder replacement! That's unbelievable. And I attribute it to Brant's great work.

Good team work. Job well done. Very good experience.. Thank you

cavinder29 .

Liz at the front desk was very efficient at getting me in and scheduling my next appointment. Dr McGee was awesome and very knowledgeable about my injury and what I should anticipate for the future. He took the time to answer all my questions and eased my worry! Thanks for making my visit great!

Joe Gomez

Finally we figured out centennial care was the cause of the problems not The doctor but thankfully we got it all taken care of. But if the papers would have been filed right in the first place we would not have had all the problems

I will not give this practice a single star. I had an appointment at 1:20 today and waited 1hour and 10 minutes before walking out not ever seeing Dr.Ritchie. Dr. Ritchie, why do you feel your time is more important than mine? It is extremely rude to make someone wait over an hour for a service when they have an appointment. It is a service you are supposedly providing correct? A waiter in a restaurant also provides a service and I can honestly say no one would wait a over an hour after sitting at a table for a waiter to come take their order, they would leave as I did. The staff in this office is completely unprofessional and incompetent. While sitting in the room waiting for someone to let me know what was going on I could hear them talk about patients, their plans for the weekend and their opinions on patients attitudes (mine in particular because I was starting to be upset about waiting). Isn’t that a HIPPA violation? I will be sure to let everyone I know to NOT go to this practice ! Maybe with a large decrease in patients they will learn to tell time and actually try to see patients within 15-20 minutes of their appointment!

I went in today for knee pain that I've had for around 4 months but has gradually gotten worse. I can't take the pain! I was seen by Dr. Pachelli, he took one look at me as he walked in and right then decided not to help me and just judge my weight! He said I needed to lose weight and that is why my knee hurts!! That is a separate issue and if he had taken more than 2 minutes to examine me and ask a few questions, he'd know that I do exercise regularly and have a health issue that causes me not to lose weight! They took xrays which, hello only shows bones!! I didn't go in for broken bones!!! I need a MRI which would show possible tears in ligaments. This was the worst experience I've had with any doctor! Absolutely disgusted!! The man didn't even shake my hand, he gave me a fist bump! Who the hell does that!! So unprofessional!! Wish I could give less than 1 star!!!

Karen Luna

Fast check-in and visits. Visited this place 4 times and each time the visit was fast and efficient. However, I did feel like I was more of a customer as opposed to a patient.

Stephanie Garza

Post op by about three days now. I had a very serious wrist bone dislocation that needed surgery to correct. This team has been absolutely amazing throughout my entire ordeal. They were able to quickly get me seen and scheduled for surgery. Dr. Refsland visited both before and after surgery, and he was friendly and patient with our questions. Still have another surgery to go, but I'm so glad I've trusted my care to NM Orthopedics. Keep up the great work team!

Excellent care. Friendly, warm staff and providers plus the most well organized medical care in Albuquerque. It is difficult to determine which is more pleasant, the providers expertise and bedside manner or the wonderfully upbeat staff.

Nic Lea

Dr. Otero-Lopez & his team (Vicki) are fantastic! Would & have recommended anyone that needs back or neck surgery to him - very professional & extremely skilled! Thank you for giving me my husband back, Dr. Otero-Lopez!!

I took my daughter here, I even arrived an hour early they got her in right away and was out within 30 mins. The doctors, nurses and staff there was amazing and very friendly.

MR. TACFIT

Staff and doctors are great, the management on the other hand are incompetent baboons. The doctors are amazing at what they do and the rest of the staff are always so friendly

Not so good. Stunning high-tech services might blind you to the fact that once you leave the office they will ignore you. The appearance of the ability to contact the offices by text, patient portal, phone, etc. does not make the possibility of a response any greater. I was seen with a broken arm on Tuesday and by Saturday I still had received no pain medication. Patient surveys give the impression that they care--they do not. Saturday I was referred back to the urgent care clinic for additional pain meds--this required a visit in person. They explained that their license does not allow them to refill pain medication prescriptions, but after calling NM Ortho and getting the "run around" they gave me another

So far the healthcare is good. Administratively it is a DISASTER to get anything done. Office staff needs an overhaul!

Cathleen Wilder

I have gone to two physicians at NM ORTHO for two different issues. Both times I felt like a “thing” to be “fixed” for the purpose of raking in as much dough as possible . I prefer to be treated with respect and compassion and therefore will not be going back.

Molly Roberts

Dr Ritchie and his MA, Maria, were very accommodating to see us on short notice when my daughter injured her knee at soccer practice. They were professional, very thorough with the diagnosis, and exceptionally kind to stay late on a Friday afternoon! Thank you!

Nancy Calloway

Can’t get through to a live person. Between 8 AM and 12 PM on Saturday. I think it’s November 10 and I think my daughter has a dislocated shoulder. Read online and heard about that you have an after hours clinic but should be open today, but there is no way To find out a working phone number for it online. I’ve also spent half an hour with automated system trying to get through to anyone who can tell me if you’re really open. Lots of advertising but no real help.

Shauncey Maver

I would give them a zero if I could. They make their doctors treat by body part. So even though the Orthopedic Doc knows them all, if your wrist and shoulder are hurt on same arm you have to make 2 appointments, with 2 different doctors and pay twice as much! Worst Part they will treat everything on a Child except their SPINE! They don't believe it is profitable our important enough! They DO NOT CARE! They received the referral over a week ago, but never had the decency to notify my child's provider or myself, until I called them. The operator says "it takes 72 hours for processing." Yet had no answer for the days after I had to wait, until I called. Only thing she would help with, was give me my daughter's primary care provider's number to have them refer her to UNM! Shame on Presbyterian! If you love your children keep them away from this CLINIC!!!!

Andrew Garcia

I don't even know where to start, so I'll keep it simple. They mixed up my boys accounts. Tried billing insurance for the wrong child. Mixed up their medical records and one set was deleted and he no longer exists in their system. Took weeks to get a follow up appointment. The people who answer the phones there should be fired and the supervisors should be held accountable for the mess they made. My wife spent hours on the phone trying to get things fixed and still wasn't done correctly. My boy finally got a follow up appointment scheduled on the 31st of this month, for mid September and today we got a call that it was scheduled . Um.. Ya we know that. Scheduling is a joke at this place. I wish we could go somewhere else but this is only place insurance covers.

D R

My experience with this office was terrible. Please read this post for the sake of your health (physical and mental). I am a hard core runner and cyclist with some significant pain that is prohibiting me from exercising and sleeping. NM Ortho Doc ordered MRI and that was scheduled at their office. I got an earlier appointment elsewhere. NM Ortho refused to allow me to schedule an MRI off-site though this would allow for an earlier diagnosis and treatment. NM Ortho cares more about making a buck than the well being of the patient. Instead of calling in the order to allow me to get my MRI elsewhere earlier, they told me it would take 48 hours to cancel the MRI at their own business....yes, 48 hours to take an appointment off their own books and another 48 hours to send in the authorization to the other facility . They refused to cancel the MRI appointment for me and refused to call in the authorization to my insurance company. In other words, they hold their patients hostage so they can make the money off their own MRI machine. So, as a result, I was unable to get an earlier MRI and so the sleepless nights due to pain will continue. My inability to engage in my passion of running will continue. Despicable

How do we access patient reviews on dr. Evan kanaus??

They will absolutely delay care, order (Painful) unneeded tests, leave you in agony for months, make your injury worse, and not respond to grievances. They are a Presbyterian sponsored medical scam. Came here with Spinal Injury, barely able to move. Injury wasn't taken seriously, medical care given was incredibly slow, and it turns out the ONLY procedure they did after 4 months was incorrect. They delayed care unneededly and wanted unneeded tests causing months of waiting. They're grievance process is essentially "Get a lawyer" and there was no responsibility taken by NMO. When I spoke to a lawyer I was told that it "Wasn't enough to chase". They also only accept grievance by physical mail, they do not open anything thats not certified mail but they wont tell you until you send 2-3 letters. After certified mail was sent I got a receipt that said they received it but they claimed to not receive it. When I provided a receipt of delivery they said they would call me back and never did, then claimed to know nothing of the conversation all while a different department threatend sending me to collections and "destroying" my credit. It wasn't until I gave up and found a new doctor, who explained that they were delaying care and wanting unneeded testing that I realized how much money I gave them and they only wanted to prolong the injury for more money. My new doctor proved it by fixing most of my injury within 14 days (2 visits) when I had spent 4 months with NMO with zero progress. Its also worth mentioning they left a bed-bound spinal injury patient sit 3 months without painkillers before providing them.

Was referred to them by the emergency room. At my appointment the doctor who checked me seemed to be in a hurry and said nothing was wrong just to use a brace. She was also reluctant to give me an mri cuz she said nothing was wrong. Decided to get a 2nd opinion turns out i had a ACL tear and needed surgery. I do not recommend there services to no one.

Freda Martinez

This is going to be a long post, but please read. I was seen there on 12/7/2018 for a broken wrist, they put me in a short arm cast. At the time I was having some swelling so the cast felt a little tight but she said as the swelling goes down it should feel better, and that I can have it changed out if need be and that all I had to do was call and schedule an appointment. About a week later the swelling had completely gone down and the cast was extremely loose. I called to see if I could go in for a new one. she said I had to see the doctor and he/she didn't have any openings till February!! The receptionist stated that they could not change the cast unless I see the doctor and get an x-ray. I understand needing the x-ray to make sure the bone is healing, but putting me off till February is crazy. About 6 days later it got so loose that it came off on its own. I called them again and told them the situation and they STILL did not get me in! When I asked them what I should do, she told me my only option if I wanted the cast back on was to go to the emergency room. Unreal!! I made a couple more phone calls and spoke with someone different each time and they all told me the same thing. Then....this week I get a huge bill in the mail! For what?! I have made several attempts for an office manager to call me back and am still waiting. In the meantime I still have a broken wrist with no cast, I guess apparently they don't care about their patients. my suggestion....go somewhere else...

This review is specifically for Dr. Terry Hansen and his assistant, Monica Owens. Both my mother and I are patients of Dr. Hansen. I appreciate that Dr. Hansen spends sufficient time to listen to complaints, to explain what he sees in any imaging and to discuss a course of treatment (thankfully, he does not seem to rush into invasive treatments before trying other treatments first, like PT). He sometimes runs a little late but that is a result of his not rushing from patient to patient. I highly recommend him for back issues. Monica is always most helpful in ensuring that we understand Dr's orders and providing additional assistance when needed, she is an asset to Dr. Hansen and to NMO.

Goggle does not have a no star rating. This group doesn't deserve a star. Read how they make excuses for the bad reviews and you will know just how unethical they are.

John Sandoval

Dr. Otero-Lopez and his team are the best around!!! I had been suffering with lower back issues for awhile, and am grateful to get referred to NM Orthopaedics. Thanks to Dr. Otero-Lopez and his team I am finally able function like a normal person again. Dr. Otero-Lopez and his TEAM are the most professional and caring group that I have been a patient of. I have complete confidence in their group. My surgery and recovery went better than I expected and I know it was due to the care I received from this group!

I am a 72 year old male. In 2010 I had a motorcycle accident and destroyed my left knee. In 2011 I had the knee fully replaced in Kerrville, Texas. In 2014 that replacement failed and caused bone damage in that leg. I had moved back to New Mexico, and I asked my family Physician for a referral to “fix” my knee. My Doctor, without a blink, said Dr. Dan Junick in Albuquerque is the best. Dr. Junick agreed to replace my knee replacement early 2015. Three years have past, and I have lived with an expertly crafted leg. I have the highest degree of confidence in Dr. Junick’s work and knowledge. Gratitude does not begin to describe my faith and appreciation for his gift to me. I highly recommend Dr. Junick for Orthopedic Medicine. Drew Scott-Santa Fe, NM

They are quick to collect co-pays but when it comes to actually taking care of you oh, that's a process. Maybe it's just my process but I can't leave a 5-star review. I have been unable to use my right arm for 3 months and after an MRI,t I've been told I have an angry shoulder??!!! Apparently we can't treat an angry shoulder with anything other than physical therapy, but nobody can even touch the shoulder right now. There's a possibility of a slipping bicep? I'm not sure how this is all going to turn out, but I just can't recommend this group. The first doctor I saw was able to put a cortisone injection into it, but not here. I hope your experience is better than mine. They will happily text you and take huge co-pays over the phone to spend 10 minutes with you and tell you that they can't do anything. Good luck. Maybe my angry shoulder was just unbelievable and wasn't deserving of treatment. The funny part of this review is actually calling it an angry shoulder LOL

Jerry Hazard

Still waiting in the waiting area. Appointment was for 10:10 am, it is now 10:50 am, and two patients have been called before me. The staff in person are hurt and condescending, and refused to answer my question about timeline/current work load. I may change my rating IF I get to see my doctor. He did great work with my spouse's knee. Was hoping for The same experience.

Try to make an appointment with them they scheduled me two weeks out for a fractured foot called to cancel nobody answered the phone finally got through to them and they said it would be a $50 cancellation fee

Jill Merkey

I am burtenshaw is a great foot doctor but his assistant Monique Sandoval is going to be the reason he loses his patience she don't return phone calls she is not very professional you call with grave concerns and you still don't get calls back it's hard to leave the doctor but I'm on the verge of leaving because of Monique she needs to get it together when you're there you can see her busy on the telephone personal telephone she looks at the phone when it rings picks and choose who she wants to answer picks and choose who she wants to call back but doctor burtenshaw is a great doctor so if you can stand unprofessional assistant he's a great doctor to go to

Elaine Montoya

Saw Dr. Wallach for an EMG and he was amazing! Great personality. Highly skilled. Brilliant doctor. A great asset to NM Orthopaedics!

Mac M

This review is for Dr. Knaus and I recommend him highly. I was referred for something that showed up on my x-ray and Dr. Knaus took my concerns seriously and ordered MRI's done. He was professional, listened well and treated my concerns with care and compassion. If you need a good orthopedic doctor, see him.

Dr. Allen repaired a ruptured biceps tendon in my left arm, and the procedure, and experience, could not have turned out better. Full range of motion in my arm almost immediately, and able to return to full activity. The staff at NM Ortho and the surgery center were all courteous and friendly as well.

Diane Steinle

Dr. Chapman seems fine and caring. But his staff, especially his nurse really hates her job and it shows.

Joey Joe Maldonado

Not much to say I agree with another review stating: treatment was delayed my injury got worse. I gave two stars only for the clean offices. that's about it.

prholub .

I am frustrated - I had the appt. with the doctor and received a steroid shot to help with the physical therapy that couldn't be scheduled until 2 weeks later. The day of my physical therapy appt., they cancelled it on me and I can't get in for another 2 weeks! Guess that steroid shot isn't going to do me any good....

Brandi S

I had an amazing experience with my surgery and the respect and care I have received from the facility as well as the care team I had. I thank Dr. Ritchie and his PA for the amazing job they've done and I definitely recommend them! Mine was a really bad sports accident and they were able to get me up and going without pain again!

Pat Berkman

I come from NY and I also come from a family of Doctors ...so I am very very particular about any medical coverage. I was overwhelmed by the excellent care and competence given by the Presbyterian Hospital's staff and the entire staff , nurses PAs etc at NMOSC. My Doctor was Dr. Matthew Patton, don't be thrown by his great looks (I did a double take when I first met him) he is extremely bright and answered all my many questions BEFORE I had a chance to ask them.. My Anesthesiologist was a Dr.Toth, who was so kind and understanding (I'm a chicken when it comes to surgery) and extremely capable. My Nurse before the surgery was Abby, I didn't feel the IV being inserted and she covered me with a warmed blanket.. I tell you everyone was so exceptional it made me proud to have my medical care in New Mexico! The surgery for the Carpel Tunnel Release was just two days ago and I couldn't feel better. Sorry to go on like this but you will not make a mistake going to this Hospital and New mexico Orthopedics.

Dottie Kelley

Of all the doctors I've seen, I can't think of another doctor that deserves praise, accolades (and a raise) more than Terry Hansen, M.D.! He has always given me the time, and medical advice necessary for my health issues. With his "Can -do" attitude, knowledge, humor, and his awesome medical assistant, Monica Owens, he has been a blessing to me! Often the the two of them have been last in the office, working late, but have shared how they enjoy their work and that certainly is evident with the fine service I have always gotten. New Mexico Orthopaedics is fortunate to have such a dedicated doctor as Terry Hansen, ( and CMA: Monica Owens also! ) and we,as his patients, are fortunate as well!

Greg Portman

NMOA was able to get me in very quickly, the same week for a shoulder injury. They provided excellent patient care & worked with my schedule to quickly get the MRI & surgery setup.

Claire Darling

CMA Monica who works with Dr Hansen is so kind and so helpful! She does everything she can to help coordinate your care and makes herself directly available by phone whenever you need! Excellent patient care and so caring!

Erica Nunez

Horrid place to get care! I have a broken shoulder and a rotator cuff injury. I have been hung up on, multiple times. My 1st appt. was cancelled, glitch in the system, my MRI was cancelled, because they didn't get the pre-auth, now my PT was cancelled, while I was on my way there, after waiting 3 weeks for an appt. All because the doctor didn't submit the paperwork. It has caused me stress and pain and suffering and it doesn't seem to get any better. If I were you, I would look for another Orthopaedic Center.

Rachel Carter

Waited 2 hours after my appointment time to finally be seen, the doctor barely spent 5 minutes with me and told me nothing but gave me brooches. If I could give no starts i would. Spent a 40$ copay to read I could've googled for free.

Joan Benvenuti

Sylvia Day

They cancel appointments and never call you to schedule a new appointment

Leonardo Gomez

Long long wait times. Some staff seemed happy to be here some seemed bugged.

Bear Connor

A huge thank you to Nicole and the staff for seeing me, after being late due to a miscommunication about the location. I was in pain and stressed, and Nicole and the rest of the folks (I'm sorry I can't remember your names) made me feel welcome, comfortable, and provided excellent service. I can't say enough about the friendly and professional assistance here - thanks again!

Tony Justiniano

Another injection made comfortable by Dr. Richie! Thank you for listening to my needs and providing me the ability to run, jump and climb again!

Barbara Rose

This is my second go-round with NM Orthopaedics and both times and both doctors were supurb. The first time I had broken my hip and the surgery was the best surgery I have ever had (Dr. Matt). No pain and no post problems. I am up runninng again at 73. The second time was for my husband that had fallen and hurt his hip. Dr. Joshua Caruthers has been very thourough and superb. Everything and everyone I have had to do with NMO has been a 10 star

T Talley

Misc Errata

The care I have received over the last decade at NMO as been pretty good (B+). My rating today of 3 stars is based on the 6 weeks of May/June/July it took to get into see a back specialist (not the doctor :( ). This time window is unacceptable, especially for legacy customers. For whatever patients (or healthcare plans) that have increased an expected 3-5 day window to 6 weeks, those (new) folk should be placed further out, honoring the legacy customers to better and faster care. Yes, the legacy patient does deserve faster care than the 'Johnny-come-latelys'. Healthcare is not a right, it's a privilege.

Renee Chavez

I hate when a doctors office tells you your apt is at a certain time and 45 min later your still waiting to be seen. Not even the nurse comes in to check on you , no one informed you of a delay in the schedule or anything!!! Worst service ever!!!! I bet if I was 45 min late for my apt they wouldn’t of seen me!

Kevin Johnson

Terrible service! Tried calling several times only to get an answering machine and no call back. But they can sure give full attention for billing.the WORST place for caring service. Its a chop shop of orthopedic doctors... No structure. Will be reporting to health insurance agencies and the state board.

Georgia Crespin

Want to thank Dr. Racca and Kira for the awesome care they have provided me the last couple of years. They have been my guardian Angels. I cannot express how greatful I am to have them as my providers. Dr. Otero-Lopez ,Kari and Vicki are also awesome, they jprovided me with the best care today. Thank you Dr. Racca and Dr. Otero-Lopez for the awesome care!!!!! Everyone at New Mexico Orthopaedics have all been so kind and pleasant!!

Jennifer Schlesinger

I highly recommend Dr. Heckl and his amazing staff. I had originally scheduled a surgery for a doctor in Santa Fe that I was uneasy about (short appointment sessions, no instruction, little dialogue or care) and after having my initial meeting with Dr. Heckl, I immediately canceled my surgery in Santa Fe and rescheduled it with him. The care and investment he made in me as a patient gave me great trust in him. He is passionate about what he does, cares deeply about the outcome of his patients, and gives a tough love approach (which works very well for someone like me who needs to hear frankly and sternly what actually needs to be done and how to do it in order to make it happen, as well as seeing it as a life challenge). Siobhan, Dr. Heckle's right hand nurse, is equally amazing - caring, organized, knowledgeable and as diligent as he is. I do believe Dr. Heckl will be retiring sometime this year or so, but regardless, New Mexico Orthopadeics is amazing as well - completely organized, and streamlined. I absolutely give this a facility, this doctor, and his staff a 5 plus star rating.

As a new patient, Marry Ellen was extremely helpful I’m not only making several appointments for me, but giving me directions on where the appointments were as I am new to the area. Every one at New Mexico Orthopedics were very friendly and helpful, they are all awesome!

Randy Repichowski

I went to New Mexico Orthopedics with pain in both knees, I'm 65 and figured that both knees were just worn out. They did x-rays and it showed that there was little to no cartridge left in them. Dr Ritchie was very informative and went over options of getting both knees replaced. I told him at this point and time I really could not be laid up for one month. I asked about Rooster Comb ( Viscosupplementation ) shots, he said that he thought that I would be a good candidate for them! He wanted me to do four weeks of PT first to get my knees and muscles in better shape. I did the PT and called to make an appointment for the first of three injections. On the first appointment Dr. Ritchie explained what he was going to do and went about giving me the injections, I didn't even feel the one in my right knee, felt a little in the left, he said that was it. I asked about doing my right knee, he smiled and said it's already done! I've had two injections so far and it feels like I have new knees, I've had no pain, I've had to learn to walk instead of the shuffle that I've been doing for over five years! Side note, I help a blind friend do a little grocery shopping on Fridays, he follows me with his right hand on my right shoulder, we were coming out of the store two weeks ago, and he said your knees must really be feeling better, he went on saying that was one of the fastest trips through the store ever, he could feel from my shoulder that I wasn't doing my usual walk! Dr. Ritchie repaired my left shoulder about twelve years ago and haven't had any problems with it since. From the Ladies at the very front desk, to the Nurses, everyone of them have gone above and beyond expectation!

Monica Romero

I recently had 2 appointments with Dr. Heckl. The young man who checked me in the first time was more interested in this phone than me. Dr. Heckl took his time to explain what was going on in the x-ray of my knee, but he took too long and got too preachy. (I don't need to know about his religious views.) The second appointment was for the reading of an MRI. I was his first appointment of the day, 7:45. I arrived at 7:35, and wasn't seen until 8:15. No apology, hadn't looked over my records before coming in the room, so he wasted time having to look at notes from the previous appointment, he was more rushed in explaining what the MRI showed, and he made me late for work. I do understand what's going on as this isn't my first rodeo with knee issues, but overall it was just a weird experience. I was fitted for a brace at the MRI reading, and was told it would take a few days for my insurance to contact me, and that within 2 weeks I'd have the brace. Still waiting to hear from them 3 weeks later.

Unimpressive. Dr. Patton must be too important; he didn't bother actually showing me exercises; I was told to go to You Tube to find them. He must think I am very good to know which videos are good exercises to use. He never asked me about what happened, I said pain here, and gave me a brochure. Then they gave me braces but didn't ask me before they cut them up nor did they check on insurance costs, which I incurred. I am hoping to go anywhere else.

Dr's are great I just had problems with administration.

Love my doctor here. He is the best. Took down 2 stars because the billing department is a mess. They were paid by my HRA, I sent proof of a cancelled check, called multiple times without getting a real answer, and no one contacted me before marking my account delinquent. I will now have to pay them twice because I can’t even get an answer or talk to anyone that knows anything.

This review is for Dr. Terry Hanson and CMA Monica Owens to recognize them as the "A-Team" for the medical treatment provided to for my wife, Dottie. They are the Best in the Business! I strongly recommend them as the "Go To" doctor and CMA when it comes to Spine - Physiatry needs. Thank you!!!!!

Dr. Allen and the entire staff were great! The cause of my tremendous knee pain was diagnosed and I was given a course of treatment that has helped my knee feel better and get stronger. Thank you!! Update: They are doing construction in February of 2019. Personal privacy is decreased in this time with my MA (at least) not closing the exam room door while asking personal questions in an abrupt rushed manner and the patients in the waiting room sitting right next to the Check in location where more private matters are discussed. I would wait with seeking treatment here until construction is finished and patient privacy is restored.

I will never go back to this clinic even if I got my bone broken again. Reason #1) A nurse makes a serious mistake and nobody can fix the problem promptly. I wanted a temporary handicapped placard from MVD. Before a visit, I completely filled out the form from MVD's website and brought to the clinic. I asked Dr. Brock to just sign his name and put down the number of the month I would need for the placard. In front of me, he did and asked a nurse just to stamp the clinic's seal on the form. It took long time for her to do this no brain job. When she came back, she said, "I messed up with the form, so I copied the information from the old one." Well, I took it to MVD and found out she missed the number of the month I would need and misspelled my last name. Of course, the form was rejected by the clerk. That clerk kindly called the clinic to verify my information. The receptionist kept saying, "The doctor and his team won't be in by 10:00 am, which is 2 hours later and which was actually noon. I cannot do anything." At that time I couldn't park in handicapped space without the placard. I had to walk from far away only to find out I couldn't get my job done. Reason #2) Business Office is a heartless snake hole. I got my left leg bones broken so bad right after I quit my job. I don't have income though my husband works. It was so hard to pay the bill, but I kept paying little by little. One day I received a threatening letter from the headquarter in AZ, which says, "If you don't pay the bill in full within 90 days, this account will automatically go to the collection." Wait a minute! I have diligently paying even a little! I immediately called the Business Office of Unser Branch, where I see Dr. Brock. The manager, after listening to me explaining the reason I couldn't do that, coldly said, "We cannot make a payment arrangement if you pay that small amount (I offered about $50 a month.). You need to write a letter to the Supervisor with a complicated name in Ceder Branch to ask him to extend the term of payments. You have to do that asap." And he showed me how to spell his name. I wrote a letter to him with a complicated spelling in Ceder Branch (Looks like it is a main office in New Mexico.). I have never heard from him since. I swear to the God that I will never go back to this clinic again once my leg is healed. I will spread the word to everyone so people won't be treated as I have been. One more thing to add - If you use an exam room even for ten minutes, they will charge extra $100 + for a room usage. If you stay in the common treatment room with 4 beds during your entire visit, they won't charge that amount. I have a proof. So snaky and vicious when nurses cannot do the job that even a 1st grader can do.

Dr. Hanson and his nurse Monica are always so nice when I go in and he always makes sure we are doing what we need to fix my problem

I saw Dr Terry Hansen on Friday, 8 Feb 2019. First time an injection in the hip did not really hurt! Dr Hansen was caring, VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE in his field of expertise, with great bedside manner (helped with my getting down the gurney, etc.) I would almost call it an "agreeable" visit, thanks to him. Francoise M. K.

Always prompt, knowledgeable, and friendly. Dr. Ritchie is a superb surgeon who follows up to make sure his patients do well and progress as far as possible following a replacement. I will certainly recommend him to my friends. He and his staff take the stress out of a visit to the doctor.

Dr. Berlin my primary care provider, to Dr. Nipuraneni, my surgeon, to Ladia office staff. Absolutely fabulous. What a fantastic team I experienced. Highly recommended. Again, Thank y’all. Sincerely Kay Robberson

Everyone at New Mexico Orthopedics has been great. From the physical therapy staff to the doctors and staff at the main clinic. Dr. Hanson did a 5-star job helping with my hip problem, but I also want to give a shout out to Monica! She worked with me to get in, and get relief as soon as possible. She fulfills the mission posted on the walls of all of the treatment rooms. Thanks!

My son is a patient of Dr. Hansen & I have to say, he is one of the best physicians there. He took the time to explain to us what was going on with my son as no one else could do this. All other doctors kept sending us off to someone else. This was so stressful and so sitting down with Dr. Hansen yesterday was worth every minute as he shows how much he cares and OH MY GOODNESS the knowledge this man has is AMAZING! Great Job Dr. Hansen keep up the great work & thank you for all you did for my son!

This is the worst place to try and get into. I have tried scheduling through their online portal, no one ever calls back. When you call to schedule through the phone system it is always over 30 mins on hold. The 3 times I have called in the last 2 weeks i received conflicting info. Just got off the phone with someone again and she refused to help me. They really need to get it together and get on the same page. I am in pain and wasting tons of time trying to jump through unnecessary hoops.

Horrible service. I was seen by Dr. Babinski he rushed me and said he has no other recommendations for me. Well I then had to show him my extremely elevated CRP levels and then he said well I guess I can refer you to Rhuematology if you like? Um okay? Yes that's exactly why I was seen! I was seen 5/2/19 and it is now 5/21/19. I have asked them to fax my referral 3 times. The first time they didn't even fax it. The second time they didn't send any proper diagnosis and reports to why I'm being referred. The 3rd time Barbara called me back and said OKAY YOU CAN PICK UP YOUR REFERRAL? I said I was told you were going to fax it? She said WELL I DON'T HAVE A FAX NUMBER! I gave her the fax number and she hung up on me. I don't understand what is their deal. I have been waiting 3 weeks now for an appointment because of their mistakes. I've left messages for managers to call me back and no one ever does. I'm at my whits end because my knee issues are continuing to get worse and this clinic obviously doesn't care!

Warning! If you have a lawyer these people will not treat you. My lawyer advised I was not in litigation but a tort claim was filed. I called back as advised by the response and was told that because I had a lawyer that I could not be treated for the unhealed finger. They told me my hand was healed when it wasn't. Only the fracture was healed. The doc spent 20 seconds with me. 20 seconds! My primary care doc referred me on 3/12 for the unhealed finger. I finally called on 3/25 and was told they would Not treat me as I was in litigation. They did not tell this to my doctor nor myself until I called. I feel it is good to tell people not to go here if you have a lawyer so they won't waste their time. There are other Orthopedists in town who would gladly treat you.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Otero-Lopez and his assistant, Kari (Thomas?) Levigne. They were very compassionate towards the severe pain I was experiencing. I had a herniated, bulging disc at L4-5 plus a list of problematic spine issues.Their mercy on me was amazing. I was able to go to surgery within the week of my consult. Dr. Otero-Lopez knew there could be paralysis if my spine was not corrected urgently. These two were on top of things every step of the way. Their expertise is amazing and should be showcased in all the medical journals and reviews. I had come to the point of not being able to take more than a couple of steps because the disc would press on the nerve and it felt like a sharp knife. I had been mostly bed-ridden for the last 3 months. When I came out of surgery I was stunned that there was no pain, no dizziness, no numbness and tingling in my leg. It felt like a miracle had occurred. Dr. Otero-Lopez's work was a miraculous healing for me. The anesthesia has worn off. I have stopped taking the pain meds and I still feel no pain whatsoever. I am forever grateful for the care, compassion, and highly qualified skill of Dr. Otero-Lopez and his assistant Kari Levigne, who checked in on me regularly after my recovery. I hope they both get the highest recognition throughout the orthopaedic community. Thank you Dr. Otero-Lopez and Kari Levigne.

I had a complete knee replacement with Dr. Carrouthers. I was very satisfied with my surgery as well as the treatment I have received at NM Orthopedics. 3 months in and no more knee pain. I would recommend Dr. Carrouthers and NM Orthopedic without reservation.

They treated my little girl great especially the man that put her cast on. She had a great experience and as a mother i really appreciate that!

I'm 46 yrs old. I've been a patient at NMOA for 8 yrs on and off. But understand that once you become an established patient with a doctor, you're their patient for 3 years...so choose wisely. And that is why I'm writing a review about my 2 excellent doctors and their staff. I needed a total hip replacement but because I was so young Dr. C. Patton was able to put off that procedure with injections for 2 yrs until the inevitable come, I medically needed the new hip. Dr. Tripraneni (my surgeon) and Dr. Patton worked together to discover I had a bacterial infection in my R hip. Dr. Tripraneni gave me my new hip 01/2017. I recovered quickly, no complications. It's a little over 1yr out from my surgery and I'm having a new medical issues on the R side in the muscles. I've gone to the ER 2x. After being released, I called NMOA to make an appt w/ Dr. Tripraneni. His Assistant Lydia called me back right away. She already knew about my condition, had already made me an appt. and even though Dr. Tripraneni was in surgery the day she called, she was able to reach him before she called me so she was able to answer all my questions. She showed true concern and empathy. I'm lucky she works for NMOA and Dr. Tripraneni. Lydia is really a hard worker too. Dr. Tripraneni and Dr. Patton have order a few more tests i.e. bloodwork, MRI, CT, etc... Lydia has taken care of everything for me and called me with every update and result. Dr. C. Patton, Dr. K. Tripraneni and Lydia are the reason NMOA is receiving 5 stars from me. These 3 really care about their patients and want the best for us. Below is the skeleton Dr. C. Patton was using during my office visit. Visual aids! Awesome!

Not only is the wait ridiculous but Dr Lujan barely gave us the time of day. We wanted to explain our sons injury and he literally waved us off and said he’d seen it before. Then told us to come back in a week for new stitches. We did not see the dr 5 minutes. Upon return for new stitches again we didn’t see Dr Lujan more than 5 minutes and he barely allowed us time for questions. Highly disappointed!

I'm a Combat Wounded Veteran that has had nine (9) surgeries to repair the combat injuries. Ms. Vicki Crespin has bent over backwards to assist me and make sure all my pre and post operation appointments were taken care of. She went above and beyond to help me. Vicki is a Customer Focused and Quality Driven individual. After 22+ years in the military Ms. Crespin has been the patient advocate I've ever had. She never stops and is an amazing asset to your organization. Definitely a 5 star service and a 10 star personality. Major Andrew J. Green

I have been here quite a bit both for myself and my mother. Everyone that I have encountered is friendly and professional. As care providers, they are excellent with explanations and consults. I also like how organized it is--getting imaging on site and not having to wait long in waiting areas.
