This Dr is amazing he went one and one with you what will happen if he do surgery and he tell you exactly what is wrong.I have being going to my doctor for so long in Jamaica and all he did is give me hope how I could conceive but never examine me Dr Shakiba examine and told me what was wrong.I would recommend him to any person out there who are looking for a good Doctor.

Dr. Shakiba and his staff are amazing. I had heavy bleeding for years. I was checked many times and there were no fibroids. I was offered birth control to try to regulate the bleeding, which didn't work. The heavy bleeding led to my iron falling to a 4.9 level at which time I needed a blood transfusion. I visited Dr. Shakiba for the first time in February of 2017. He determined that I had Adenomyosis and he performed a laparoscopic hysterectomy on April 6, 2017. The recovery was a lot easier then I expected. My iron level went up and my energy was back to normal. I wish I would have found Dr. Shakiba years earlier. Dr Shakiba is a caring and compassionate doctor.

I initially saw Dr. Shakiba for an examination for Sterilization clearance. However; Dr. Shakiba immediately noticed and extremely enlarged Fibroid that needed treatment. Surgery and removal was the optimal treatment and Dr. Shakiba provided excellent information, consultation and recommendations throughout the process. The surgery was a great success; both in removal and recovery. I highly and strongly recommend Dr. Shakiba for a thorough exam for any issues one may have and also for ongoing care.

Dr. Shakiba is a magician! For someone who's never has surgery, I can say this was such a wonderful experience from the consultation to post op! I was recommended to Shakiba by my fertility specialist who said he was the best and he certainly didn't disappoint. He removed two fibroids, repaired my umbilical hernia, turning my "outie" into an "innie" and discovered I had endemetriosis which he also took care of! I had minimal scarring, you could barely tell I had an incision, it looks almost like I just scratched it with my nails! He went above and beyond what he had to do! I would trust Dr. Shakiba with my life, in fact, any other surgery I need to get done I'd go to him despite him being out of network. Kelly the office manager was very helpful in getting my FMLA and short disability paperwork in order. There is no hesitation in recommending Dr. Shakiba, again he's a magician!

My experience with Dr. Shakiba, his staff, his systems, and his manner have been outstanding. He approached my surgery with thoroughness and thoughtfulness, doing full pre-op testing, explaining what would happen, and so on. I am on my feet and relatively pain free only a couple of days post-op, to my amazement. My only objection is that I was not fully informed about the post-operative obstacles I might encounter. I can't criticize him for that because in every other aspect of my care, he was generously informative. My objection is more to a system which does not focus on post-op nursing care.

My dont have a scale high enough to rate my experience with Dr Shakiba. I am a 29 year old female that needed a Full hysterectomy leaving my Ovaries. I had a huge fibroid that was effecting other orgens. My OBGYN Referred me to DR Shakiba b/c i was high risk. I am just speachless on what an amazing doctor he is. The operation went smooth. No pain nor complication (the worst part was some gas pain but nothing crazy). I took Ibuprofen for pain. Today 11/14/17 i am just 4 days post opt and i am not even taken pain meds. Thats how great i feel. He is so skilled and amazing that I just dont have words!! God bless him. This is my 1st time ever writing a review for a doctor. He is just too amazing for me to keep to myself.

To Whom It May Concern, I would like to take a few moments to express my sincere thanks to all the staff of the Dr. Shakiba. After four different operations on my bladder, I finally feel that I have the right doctor. I had a mesh sling put in around February, 2010 to alleviate embarrassing bladder leaking. In early 2014 I had pieces of that mesh start to deteriorate. I went to a urologist and he advised me that the only way to fix the problem was to have surgery to remove the pieces that were deteriorating. I had that surgery in November, 2014. The removal surgery caused me to have severe incontinence again and I was very depressed. My urologist told me that I would have to have second mesh sling put in over the first sling that was deteriorating. I had that surgery in February, 2015. I never felt like the sling was doing what it was supposed to do and I felt that I had too much tissue damage for it to work properly. I started to again suffer from leaking and was at my wits end, that was until I found Dr. Shakiba. Before finding him, I went to four other doctors; I visited Yale University in Connecticut and to several urologists’ in New Jersey. I found that after all those consultations, that Dr. Shakiba had the correct path for me when he advised me to have the robotic surgery. May I start by stating that everyone in the office staff is beyond reproach in their professionalism and decication. They are all very kind and compassionate, from the receptionist, to Kelly who takes care of all the appointments for surgery, disability etc., to the all the nurses. Dr. Shakiba is kind and generous with his time and makes you feel like you are the only patient he has when you are with him. He listens intently and answers all of your questions without feeling like you are taking up too much of his time. My husband accompanied me on all my visits and Dr. Shakiba answered all his questions as well. On the day of surgery, he made me feel very comfortable and assured me that everything was going to go exactly as planned during the surgery. Dr. Shakiba is and amazing man and an amazing doctor. I am 58 years old, and I have finally found an Urologist that I am comfortable with and with whom I can place my trust. It has been six weeks since my surgery and I feel so much better. I am not suffering from bladder leaks and the stream of my urine is finally normal. I thank God every day for Dr. Shakiba. I experienced nothing but patience and compassion from him, as well as the entire office staff. Thank you Dr. Shakiba, Tatiana, the staff and the entire surgical team at Hackensack University Hospital for giving me back my life. I had pelvic surgery 2 weeks ago for a prolapsed uterus, bladder sling and hysterectomy. After very little discomfort for 2 days , I felt as if I never had surgery. Dr. Shakiba is a great surgeon. Dr. Khashayer Shakiba is highly recommended for several reasons. If a patient is looking for an attentive, thorough urogynecologist with an impeccable bedside manner you’ve found the right doctor. The presence of uterine fibroids has been a persistent issue for several year. Dr. Shakiba performed robotic laparoscopic surgery; my procedure was extensive due to the size and location of the fibroids. However, my postoperative pain and scars extremely minimal. Additionally, the nurses and office staff were always professional and friendly. From my initial appointment to my most recent post-surgical appointment, I’ve received exemplary concern and care on all ends.

Dr Shakiba is the best dr on the planet, Period! I was 38 with the most excruciatingly painful, heavy periods and had tried everything there is, but nothing helped, I had endometriosis. We decided on surgery to remove the tissue which was growing outside of the uterus, causing me all this pain. He is a leader in his field, answered all my questions, does surgery often, worked with me on my insurance costs, had great bedside manner, etc all the things you wish for when making such a big, scary decision. At 44, I came back to him for a partial hysterectomy as the endometriosis came back, and I was done with any notion of childbearing. He was the same. Surgery was successful, scars were minimal, he uses state of the art equipment and my life is now pain free!! I suffered for so long every month, bent over in pain and soaking my pants despite wearing pads. Dont suffer anymore, go see him if you need a great Dr.

I visited Dr Shakiba for a second opinion regarding my pregnancy which was corneal/ectopic. He is very knowledgable and he understands the patient condition and treats accordingly and he explains the issues in detail. He is available any time(call him anytime) and appointments are very easy if you are in a critical situation or if your visit is important. He is very caring, once I had to go to ER, He visited me in emergency room also and explained the situation to the doctors in ER . I was in a position to lose my fallopian tube but Dr. Shakiba took care of my issue and treated well.I was lucky to find this doctor in time. After doing a tremendous amount of research, I found Dr. Khashayar Shakiba to be the best surgeon suited in his field, for my needs. For four and a half long years I suffered in pain for an issue, I ignored and put on the backburner in my life which wound up being a five lb tumor :( .. In a day everything imploded & the pain was so bad, I could barely walk my body was just shutting down telling me it's time to GO TO THE DR! .. When I telephoned Dr. Kashibas office in tears crying for an appt, his staff went ABOVE & BEYOND to get the message to him even though we had never even met. He was in surgery they said, but I would get a call back.. That night he called me after being in surgery all day he cared that much about my pain. He gave me an appt the next day, when I came into his office , pretty much curled up in a ball crying, his girls were the sweetest, and so kind to me, so patient listening to all my complaints to let the Dr. know.. In he came MY ANGEL! I had been to other surgeons prior to him, each and every one wanted to cut me open like a thanksgiving turkey and gave me no other option.. I was terrified. Dr. Shakiba was so kind, explained everything to me and the best option for me..I did drive him crazy I'm sure because I was scared to death of surgery talking a mile a minute crying from the pain I was in, but his compassion, caring, and explanation of everything put my racing mind at ease .He is the BEST SURGEON you can ever ask for, the very top in his field.. He rearranged his schedule several times to squeeze me in which usually would have taken weeks to get in.. He spent hours on me so I wasn't cut open like a turkey and did robotic surgery on me .. I THANK GOD EVERYDAY I MET HIM, he gave me my life back, I am no longer in pain as I was for so many years. Dr. Shakiba contacted me after a stay in the emergency room, wow, was I ever happy. He was thorough in his explanation of what happened to me and set up my surgery immediately. Not only that ,he kept close contact with my husband to assure us of anything we may have been worried about. I was actually excited to have my arthroscopic surgery, lol, I walked out of the hospital less than 24 hours later! So many women suffer from prolapse uterus and bladder shifts from child births and no one really talks about it. In addition, it was discovered that I was also suffering from a condition call Adenomysosis. Suffice to say I was a bit embarrassed and felt alone. Initially, I took a wait and see approach, but after 2 years I could no longer do it. Dr. Shakiba made me understand that this is a common condition and that there was nothing to be embarrassed about . This made me feel at ease. He also educated me in the laparoscopic procedure of the partial hysterectomy. Today's medical technology is incredible and so is Dr. Shakiba. His professionalism and that of his staff should be commended. I highly recommend Dr. Shakiba for any woman who might be suffering from any of the above conditions mentioned in this review. I’m 1 month post-op from robotic laparoscopic surgery performed by Dr. Shakiba at Hackensack Medical Center. Previously I’ve had two c-sections and after consulting with Dr. Shakiba in his office twice, he came up with an operation option that I felt comfortable with. After an overnight stay I was back home. In the following days I only experienced minor pain and my abdominal scars look minimal. I was very nervous about the procedure at the beginning but now I know I have made right decision to go for it with the RIGHT surgeon. Dr. Shakiba is a very caring and highly skilled doctor!!! Dr. Shakiba is the best! I am so thankful to have found him and his wonderful staff especially Chrissy. Irregular cycles for over 3 months and severe pain for over 3 weeks with 2 ER visits and misdiagnosis of kidney infection, stones, etc as well as a scope of urethra and bladder that came back normal - all from other doctors. What brought me over the line and into the hands of Dr. Shakiba was my "old" and I say old I will never see him again OB/GYN who said I had to deal with the pain for 3 more week and then we could talk birth control - oh no, I knew that was not the issue. I saw Dr. Shakiba and was in his office for 2 hours discussing what was going on and my options, within a week (last Thursday) I had Laparoscopic surgery for Endometriosis, cyst and a lesion and the pain is now gone, just dealing with all the recovery pain now but I know the end is near. I have now found my new GYN and will not be going anywhere, I highly highly recommend him - wonderful dr and great bedside manner, you cannot ask for anything better and he truly shows he cares!

on Behalf of my wife I had a robotic hysterectomy with Dr. Shakeba on May 11 2017 at 3:30 PM as an outpatient at Hackensack Hospital. Before the surgery took place Dr. Laura Rankin came to administer a shot of Heparin. She said it's protocol and I needed it. I have 10 children and 10 C-sections. I took Lovenox which is similar to Heparin which is a blood thinner during my pregnancies but two days before surgery the doctor would say I have to stop. I told her I should not take this. She insisted that I need to take it without even asking Dr. Shakeba. The surgery was successful. I was recovering in the ambulatory outpatient department. I woke up feeling very groggy went back to sleep. Then woke up and felt pain in my lower left abdomen They came and took my vitals. I had very low blood pressure 81/45 they were very concerned. They then drew blood from me it came back that my hemoglobin dropped from 12 to 7. They were very concerned. Dr Shakeba came to check on me and said, “OMG I am so sorry Mrs. Kreitenberg you have developed a hematoma and I just found out that you were given a shot of Heparin. If I would've known that I would've never let her do it!” I was extremely weak and Dr. Shakeba wanted me to stay in the hospital another night as a result of the mishap. I was released from the hospital prematurely. Dr. Shakeba would have liked me to stay as an inpatient to monitor the hematoma. I Informed the nurse that Dr Shakeba wanted me to stay another night however he was in the middle of a surgery and the nurse did not bother to further investigate the matter. She said everything is fine you can leave. The nurse help me down to the main entrance and left me at the exist. It was a good thing that I was leaving to go to a recovery center instead of home because I was shaking like a leaf I had very low blood pressure and very uncomfortable with the judgement of the hospital. As I was arriving at the recovery center. Dr. Shakeba and Dr Rankin phoned me together in a bit of a panic. They said "where are you we really wanted you to stay another night as an inpatient.” They requested that a nurse at this recovery center take my vitals and phone them the following morning. I was slowly getting better. But I'm still very weak and suffered from debilitating pain which was caused by the shot that Dr Rankin mistakenly administered. When I came for a check up after the procedure Dr Shakiba joked that "perhaps I would like another shot of Heparin?! I was cooped up in bed for weeks in excruciating pain and he thought it was funny. Not exactly kind or empathetic

Doctor is really nice and educated but the staff in the front are not nice. Bad attitudes. The girls overbook patients. I've said something months ago and nothing has changed. Even if you do make an appointment, you're going to wait ATLEAST 30 minutes to be seen and then when you are put into the room to change out of your pants, you'll wait again for 15/20 minutes for the doctor to come in to finally see you. This has happen many times. Will be finding a new gynocologist.

I am sooooo glad I found Dr. Shakiba. He is truly a talented surgeon. His intelligence and bed side manner in women's GYN/URO issues is like no other MD's I've consulted with. He is thorough about the issue at hand and how he can help and any pre-surgery testing/procedures if needed. After suffering with severe Pelvic Organ Prolapsed and Bladder problems for many years going from doctor to doctor fortunately I met Dr.Shakiba. My first consultation with Dr.Shakiba amazed me, he spend good 45 min. on explaining every details of my condition and the risks and benefits of the surgery. I left the office feeling special. Visiting his office numerous times I see that each and every one of his patients is special and getting individual attention and care from the doctor and his professional staff. Dr. Shakiba did my first emergency surgery December of 2012 for cyst removal followed by another surgery in July for ovary removal due to atypical cells. Dr. Shakiba is extremely dedicated to his patients. He goes above and beyond and is extremely pro active and very knowledgeable in his field. He has the best bed side manners as well. His staff is very amazing as well. They are also very prompt in returning any request and very kind and professional.. I have been blessed to have found a wonderful doctor and surgeon who is extremely caring towards his patients and knowledgeable. I highly recommend Dr. Shakiba to anyone seeking the best gyno treatment!!

5 stars only goes to Dr. Shakiba and the surgeon team! The day of my surgery he was very soothing and reassuring. I was extremely scared and he actually helped the nurses wheel me in and talked to me the whole time making jokes to comfort me. I felt comfortable and was more at ease. Before I knew it I was waking up in the PACU. The anesthesiologist was also a pleasure to be around. Great surgical team. I would recommend Dr. Shakiba 1 million times!

Dr. Shakiba was recommended to me by my main gyno, Dr. Mazzone (she's great btw). My experience with Shakiba himself is great, but my experience with his staff was...not so great. Let me explain. I called his office and asked the receptionist if my insurance would take him and she said yes, so off I went. I got to his office and waited for my appointment for about an hour, but that's fine because doctors are busy people and he was caught up with a patient. After looking at a few of my files, we set up an appointment to for a Hysteroscopy and possibly shave down an intrauterine septum. The day of the procedure, however, I was told to come in rather early. This resulted in me waiting for 5 hours. This is more of a communication problem between the receptionist rather than Dr. Shakiba himself, though. Later on I'm told that, as a precaution, Dr. Shakiba recommended to do a Laproscopy in the case that he may need to due to any complications. The procedure goes well (and for any of those wondering, we didn't have to do the Laproscopy). Side effects I had after my surgery was bloating and spotting, and that lasted for about 2 days. Overall, it went well. Time passes and I get a bill in the mail from Dr. Shakiba's office saying that, contrary to what the receptionist told me, they are not under my insurance plan. Basically, the letter says there's a recommended lesser amount to pay, and if that amount is not accepted by the doctor, you have to pay the larger amount. Dr. Shakiba accepted the lesser amount. Now, Dr. Shakiba is a great doctor and actually followed up with me about any grievances that I had. It's clear he is knowledgable and is a careful surgeon. My main complaints would be with the staff that told me he was under my insurance plan, and whom caused me to wait for 5 hours for my procedure. Dr. Shakiba does his best to clear up any situation and such, so hats off to him. I read in an earlier review that his staff has the tendency to overbook him and whatnot. But again, the doctor himself is great and quite helpful.

I met with Dr. Shakiba for a second opinion regarding a hysterectomy for fibroid. I was found to have prolapse too. Being a critical care RN it was a real challenge for me to have a robotic surgery and pelvic correction.I was very nervous about having to have this procedure without any complication. He immediately put me at ease with his knowledge and calm demeanor. He had a lengthy discussion with my husband and me. He was so thorough and really took the time to explain all of my options in detail. My mind was very convinced and I knew I was in good hands and the surgery was a success! Dr. Shakiba had wonderful bedside manner and his staff at the Women’s Pelvic Surgery of NJ were very efficient and helpful as well. I am fortunate to have such a wonderful URO GYN doctor!
