I have been with Dr. Samlaska for 13 years. For convenience, I tried a different dermatologist closer to my house, but returned to Dr. Samlaska. I see him every 6 months. He has the most beautifully appointed office I have ever been in, (and I was raised in a family of physicians) — and an expert staff. Dr. Samlaska ensures that any sub K’s get treated. He prescribes appropriately for any issues, and he is extremely competent and knowledgeable. I trust him. I have recommended him to my friends and colleagues, several of whom are now his patients. Absolutely an excellent practice. Highly recommend.

Academic Dermatology of Nevada in Henderson is a well-oiled operation . The staff is efficient and knowledgeable and you rarely have to wait for any of the treatments or for scheduling future appointments. The office gives you a relaxed feeling with plenty of comfortable chairs and is one of the best decorated medical offices in the area. Dr Samlaska is a PRO in treating your skin ,etc issues. I have complete confidence in his treatment plans; and I have been a patient of his for over 10 years.

So, I have been visiting here for over a year. The whole process from checking in until the doctor finally sees you in super slow. Even after making appointments, you have to wait at least 20-30 minutes. First you check in and then they call you inside and then you sit in a room waiting on a doctor who comes usually like in 15 minutes. Overall, I would like it to speed up it's process so you don't waste a lot of time just waiting after being there on time of the appointment.

I am extremely disappointed. Went to this place because i got referred to by my primary doctor. The nurse/doctor came in the room. It was not doctor Samlaska. It was a random doctor who had come in and told me I had "dry skin". Sat with me for about five minutes and then I was done. Extremely disappointed in the experience I received especially since I am not sure what "doctor" I even saw.

Horrible service. I requested to be attended by the Specialist/Doctor not the assistance since I've been dealing with a skin problem for over 8 months. The Doctor came in to the room eating/chewing in front of my face. He barely saw my face (without a lamp, light, etc) and he recommended the same thing that I've been using (hydrocortisone) and that I mentioned on my paperwork , to him and to his assistance. (No atte at all to info the client provide) After I left, I called back letting them know that they were prescribing the same thing I've tried for months and that I mentioned to them ( I didn't mention at the doctor's office because I wanted to make sure it was the same thing). I asked her to please review the symptoms etc I mentioned on my paperwork and consider them to give a diagnose. The assistance stated she will discuss it with doctor and will call me back. After 5 days no one has return my call. Very unprofessional. I would NOT recommend to no one.

Dr. Samlaska is precise, quick and clear. I was very concerned about PAIN. Tiny bit for 2-3 seconds. He and his staff are so kind, helpful and VERY VERY GOOD at what they do. At 65 I am now seeing doctors for a variety of "Senior" problems. He is easily the BEST of the physicians I have to see and I must not forget his staff. They are polite and efficient. They WANT to help you and don't make you feel they are performing a "favor". I do not dread going to my appointment. Happy I found Dr. Samlaska his entire group.

I received an extremely rude phone call from Debbie in their Billing Department and I don't even owe them any money. She called because I had to reschedule some appointments due to mandatory overtime and she was practically a monster to me. I will NEVER deal with this place again and will advise any other person to stay far away. If they don't get rid of her, she will only continue to drive other people who cannot help they have to reschedule, away from that place. She left a putrid taste in my mouth. Regardless of the situation, there is NO reason I should have been spoken to in that manner.

Made an appointment and informed them it was for a ganglian cyst. Came in and Doc tells me they don't deal with them. Then they still charged me copay. There quote was "well you did see the Doc" Instead of informing me when I made the appointment that it wasn't something there office does. What a joke. Waisted my time and $

Is good that a lot of people have an excellent experience,but this was not my case, i had an appointment on october 17 2012, unfortunately i have a bad experience from the moment i arrive to the clinic,it was my first time in there so i ask the lady on the front desk (Karen) that what papers i have to fill, and she just do not respond to me and give priority to the person behind me, she just completely ignore me,after 15-20 minutes waiting to they call me in, she turn on this disrespectful position asking me why i don't filled the paper work, i was so angry because i ask even if she say other way, well i get in side and unfortunately i don't see Doctor Curt ,(i know he have a good reputation),if not his assistant and she just barely check on my problem and every time i say( this is happening to me) she respond ( i have that too) (so you have nothing) i went there because i have a problem, i don't felt that she help me with my problem at all,that is a real shame, my husband is Military and works in the Air force ,is a shame that Nellis Base is way far from my house,i know we take care of each other there.

The Dr. was apparently very nice to my husband and helpful with his concerns. However, when booking my husbands appointment I had horrible customer service from the front desk...specifically Vanessa. When I first called to make the appointment I asked if I should schedule it for after our vacation because we were planning to go to the beach and if he had the procedure done that same day, he didn't want to worry about it getting wet. Vanessa put me on hold and then when she came back she informed me that my husband would not be able to get that area wet after the procedure if done the same day, BUT that it didn't matter because he could do the consultation before and then come back and do the procedure after our vacation...AND that it would be billed under the same day for an office visit. I confirmed this once again because I told her I didn't want to be billed for two visits when we could just reschedule the appointment. She reassured me and said it would be billed under the same visit. HOWEVER, when my husband went to his appointment they gave him so much attitude and told him that they can't do that and that he would be charged twice. He told them I called previously to confirm this and they gave him attitude when he didn't know what the receptionists name was who I spoke to. When I called back and got the same girl...VANESSA...she had remembered our conversation and told me it was a miscommunication. I informed her there was no miscommunication on my part and due to her error we would have to pay for another visit and that I wanted her to fix it. She yelled and said she couldn't do anything and that if I wanted to fix my husbands problem that I would have to pay and that there was no way around it. She was very rude, not helpful, a liar, she kept talking around herself and stumbling all over her words when I caught her in a lie. I told her that I COULD do something. Not go back... I called a week later and cancelled my husbands appointment. He didn't want to go anywhere that treats their clients with such disrespect and that has a front office with such little regard for customer service and can't do their jobs correctly. Too bad they can't hire anyone tat can take an appointment be pleasant on the phone. IF I could do a half star I would...

Appointments are easy to get and you’re in and out fast. The staff is super friendly and I’ve received excellent care. The atmosphere is like a 5 star hotel. They take Atena and I have been here several time over the past few years

Dr. Samlaska is amazing! I originally began seeing him for treatment when my previous dermatologist told me that there was nothing more that he could do for me. Well, Dr. Samlaska took care of my problem in a matter of months! My skin has never looked better. I recently visited him again due to a minor skin issue. He took care of that as well! He is always a pleasure to see and makes sure that all of my needs are always addressed and met! I've seen quite a few dermatologists and Dr. Samlaska is by far THE BEST!

The dermatologist has No “bedside manner” To the extent of being sadistic when he decided to freeze A lot of pre cancerous marks from both my hands and arms. I was left with very painful hands for over a week. Do not trust this man. He then proceeds to sell a product he created to help prevent cancer. All hipe. He is not caring.

Very happy with my visit! Brings back the memories of the good health care we all had before Obamacare. Waiting room = 2 minutes. Waiting for the provider inside the exam room = 1 minute. Andrew = 5 stars. This man took care of a couple of lesions in no time, with a smile. Didn't try to sell me anything. Nice and skilled. Honestly, I can't believe that such a "normal" place exists in LV. They actually do what they say they do on their website ... take care of their patients, on time, with insurance. That said, the clerical staff do seem a bit "sedated:" they exhibit little personality/smile/engagement. But ... they perform their jobs fine, so I am not complaining. Thank you all!!

Dr. Samlaska and his entire staff are probably the best I have ever experienced in my 59 years!! Not only were they able to get me in to see Dr. Sam on short notice, but I didn't even wait more than 5 minutes before I went to the back and not more than 10 minutes until I saw Dr. Sam!! He treated me promptly, and professionally with extreme courtesy!! If all Doctors offices were like this...it would be a great world we live in!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this Dermatologist to everybody!! I am very impressed with the Academic Dermatology practice. My first visit as a new patient was memorable! The reception area is like a beautiful room in an art museum. The artwork is beautiful, classic, and well chosen. The music being played is also carefully chosen for the mood it creates. From the first moment, I was treated to polite, kind conversation. The whole office gave me a feeling of calmness...no hustle or bustle. I see Kristina for my check ups. She is friendly, professional and thorough. I am very pleased with the whole experience at Academic Dermatology.

Meeting Dr Sam @ a health faire over over 20 years ago was my skin's good fortune ! Having been hopitalized with a fungal infection as a child alerted me as to how serious warts and moles and other strange appearances truly may be. Years later in life as a Marine in Vietnam - jungle rot or fungus began growing on my feet. Serious for me and more so than having warts surgically removed from my feet and boils from my back -again earlier in life. But I digress ! The bottom line as you look around and hear the stories - I challenge you to line up the patients of Dr Samlaska and his staff - and you be the judge of who has the healthiest skin ! Whereas Dr Sam willing extends his knowledge to younger medical professionals - and has authored articles in medical journals - the focus of Academic Dermatology remains on the patient ! Tell it to the Marines is an old saying as it relates to the truth! Thus some long time first hand experience from years in the Sun

I really cannot say enough about Dr. Samlaska and his office staff. This office runs like clockwork. I had a follow up appointment today at 2:15 PM. I showed up at 1:55. After seeing the doctor, who by the way had diagnosed my problem perfectly, and cured it with prescribed ointments, and checking out, I was back in my car at 2:22 PM. Amazing! I wish I could give more than 5 stars to this doctor and his staff.

It is refreshing to know my care is in good hands regardless if it is with the providers or MAs. Dr. Samlaska is the smartest, most professional, and most honest and caring doctor in his field. My husband and I have both been patients of his over the years. I like that he is so candid, talks to you like you are an adult. Eight years ago he got me to give up the sun bathing. Best advice I ever got . I would recommend him to everyone with any kind of skin problem . His office also offers all the latest in skin rejuvenstion and fillers. He is, undoubtedly, the best dermatologist in Las Vegas/ Henderson.

Visited Dr. Samlaska yesterday for Dysport and Latisse. I was nervous, but he handled me with gentle hands. The injections in my forehead were quick and not as painful as I anticipated. $300 for forehead. Latisse was on special at $85 for 1 bottle, which I am told lasts anywhere from 4-6 weeks. Woke up this morning and no evidence of injections - no marks or bruising - that alone is worthy of 5 stars. I had a cherry angioma on my chin and Dr. Samlaska used the electric needle AKA "the poor mans laser" to zap it off - no charge, mind you. He also prescribed me a topical solution for my rosacea. Looking forward to a smooth forehead in the coming weeks! Thanks Doc! :)

I have had the worst experience with this office. When I initially went over 6 months ago I had a few warts on my foot that needed treating. I had also recently recovered from surgery on one wart that I had on my foot. I had a scar that had formed on that area. The assistant was very nice when I told her this, but when the main doctor came it, it was a whole different story. He never even introduced himself. He just walked straight towards me with the liquid nitrogen and was going to freeze the scar (that was still pretty sensitive on my foot). When I objected, he told me that I was wrong and it was a wart. He never even examined it! Needless to say, over 6 months later it is still not a wart. I also asked them if I had fungus on my big toenail. They told me that I had bruising because my shoes were too small. I thought that was pretty strange, but I went out and bought new shoes to give it a try. They were wrong again. It was a fungus and I wasted a bunch of money on new shoes. So, 2 months ago I get a bill from them. I call to see what it is for and never get a return phone call. I called again and the message stated that the person that deals with billing is really overwhelmed and that she will call me back eventually. It is pretty rare that I write a bad review because I know that one bad review can really hurt a business. But, this is getting ridiculous. I am actually writing this review in hopes that someone over there does something about this.

Dr, Samlaska was extremely friendly and explained everything in complete detail for me to understand. I was extremely dissappointed in the way I was treated by Dr. Samlaska. I have been suffering with a skin problem for over 4 months which he swore was eczema (even though I have never had in my 30 years of life). He barley looked at it, refused to do a biopsy, gave me some steriod options and pushed me on my way. Let me also note he also made me come back every month for a check up, which I am guilty for even agreeing to go back, in hopes a test or new treatment would be done. I did this 3 times and spent over a $100 of my own hard earned money on top of the thousands my insurance must have wasted. When the sores started spreading all over my body I finally went to urgent care and they diagnosed me with a severe fungal infection. All the treatments Dr. Samlaska had done only made it worse. Finally after a few week of anti/fungal treatment with no additional moustourizers it is starting to heal!! I had suggested this the first time I saw Samlaska and he said no. I know skin can appear different at different times and many times things are misdiagnosed, people make mistakes, but this was completely unacceptable for a professional practice.

Starting with arriving and until leaving the entire experience is very satisfying. The office and waiting rooms have very tasteful renderings of art and the staff are both courteous friendly. Dr Sam, well we keep coming back...for 10 years or so, I guess we sort if love him, certainly think he does an excellent job!

I had such a good experience with this office and Dr. that I felt that I NEEDED to send kudos to them and let everyone know about it. I have been there a few times for a more serious issue. When I saw that huge building, I fully expected totally impersonal and sped up service, etc., but it was nothing like I had expected. Staff is excellent and courteous. The Dr. (Samlaska) was top-notch. I HATE hospitals and medical and etc. But this doctor was awesome, and his staff top-notch. They all gave personal attention and made everything comfortable and such a great experience. Courteous, fast and really focused on the things I needed and questions I asked. I personally would not go anywhere else.

The assistant to Kristine Herlevi is super rude, not kind what so ever! The PA Kristine Herlevi...even ruder! If you are looking for a good dermatologist who will simply listen to your concerns and seem "some what understanding and helpful" --DO NOT SEE KRISTINE HERLEVI! She has a huge chip on her shoulder for only being a PA and will look at your concerns as if they're pity and dumb! People who go out of their way to see a dermatologist are somewhat insecure and nervous. Be it a weird mole, acne, pigmentation etc. It takes a lot for a person to address their concerns and reveal their problems to a complete stranger. Word of mouth is everything! Kindness doesn't cost a thing!
