REVIEWS OF Western Missouri Medical Center IN Missouri

Luis N. Pietanesi

I really appreciate how fast the staff was in delivering the care that I required at the moment. If this were any hospital down at where I live, I would've been in the emergency room waiting to receive care for more than 3 hours, so I highly appreciate how quick the nurses were in tending to my emergency. Plus, they were all very friendly and helpful.

Russell Smithson

First time at Central Family and Sports Medicine. Everyone was very nice. Dr. Drew Glover was very professional and courteous. Answered all my questions.

I have had exceptional experiences the past few weeks at Western Missouri Medical Center. One time it was blood work done at the lab. This past week I had my yearly mammogram. Both times the technicians and office staff were friendly, efficient, respectful, and knew their job very well. I know there have been issues at times with ER and billing at WMMC, but anytime I have been there in the past several years, I have had a wonderful experience. I also know the obstetric wing in the hospital is phenomenal, with wonderful and caring physicians.

Every time one of my kids goes to the hospital weather for ER services or Labor and Delivery we couldn't be more happy with the great care they receive. Both my granddaughter and grandson have been born at this hospital. My daughter had several complications and never was she made to feel like she couldn't go in to be checked. The staff have always been very kind to me as well with taking her in. All of my children are grown and they still talked to me and answered my questions as well as the girls questions. My next grandson will be born in this hospital in January. Thank you to the entire staff for being so kind and caring.

My daughter came in with severe pain due to endometriosis. Was asked ...What do you want me to do about it!By the Dr on call. She left the room and never came back!!!Sent a nurse in with a shot for pain Im guessing....Never said what it was or what it was for.

While I do work for and enjoy working for WMMC I also had a personal experience with the ER. My husband was in a motorcycle accident about a month ago and was transported to WMMC. The doctor and nurses were waiting for him upon his arrival. I couldn't have asked for a more caring and thorough team to take care of him. The doctor came in several times to check on him, as well as the nurses. The employee from Diagnostic Imaging also did an amazing job and was extremely pleasant. I was shown the x-rays by the doctor and he explained everything he had found and it matched up with what the Radiologist had found. The bedside manners and professionalism were top notch. I gained a new respect for these hard-working health care professionals seeing them in action caring for my loved one.

Saw Dr. Phelps today who is the best primary care physician in Missouri, and maybe the entire world. She's very knowledgeable, very professional and very friendly. If she can't cure you she knows who can. I've been seeing her for over five years and I appreciate her pro-active stance on being my healthcare partner.

Amazing womens health clinic and labor and delivery ward. They took great care of us and our newborn.

Shomarri Taylor

Horrible place! Just horrible. I ended up driving 45 minutes to another hospital and I'll do it again before I ever go there.

lynn Birchmier

Jill with diagnostic imaging was very professional and wonderful! She did my mammogram and Dr. Waddell explained my films and answered all my questions! I would highly recommend WMMC Diagnostic Imaging for Mammography. 3-D Mammogram is available!

Yesterday, SundaJuly 15th, I took my 85 year old mother to the ER. I will say that this was an absolutely awful visit! Things were not handled correctly from the get go. They put my mother in a wheelchair to begin with because she was having difficulty walking. So that was ok. But they kept her in that chair for 4 hours. She never got a hospital bracelet, was never put in a gown , etc. My mother started getting sick to her stomach and I had to go out and ask two times for something for her to get sick in. The nurse we had was very unfriendly and other things happened as well like her snapping at my mom and told her to stop wiggling around while she took her blood pressure! Finally my mother had had enough and she wanted to go home. We will not return to the ER!!

I am writing this review for my twin sister who just delivered her baby here as she is busy with a new born now. I am only giving 2 stars for a specific nurse who I would never wish upon any other mom delivering here!! Her name is Kathryn, a travelling nurse from Omaha. She let my sister sit in her blood and after birth for 3 hours after delivery! This is unacceptable! When she finally helped her out of bed and into the bathroom she told my sister to spray herself with the peri bottle and pat dry with the super thin toilet paper. My sister asked "do you have a wash cloth or towel? Just get out! My sister will help me." I proceeded to turn the shower on myself and spray my sisters legs off with the shower head which had absolutely no water pressure at all. Help dry her off and put on pads and gown. My sister is a CNA herself and couldn't believe the lack of hospitality from Kathryn. That nurse was lazy, unhappy and looked like she had better things to do. I would however like to rave about the other nurses who were great. Amelia, and I think the other who was my favorite, Ashley. She was older and her hair is brown and was french braided. She was amazing and really took care of my sister before delivery. The midwife Gail was also very nice. The female Anesthesiologist was absolutely amazing!! But because of our experience with Kathryn, I would never suggest any woman to deliver at this hospital!

I came to the ER on a Friday afternoon with horrible back pain. I knew something was terribly wrong, but the ER doctor was rude. Later that evening I had to go back to the ER this time with flu symptoms and a very tender right side. Pain medication didn’t do any good. Blood test didn’t show anything. I got sent home again. All weekend the pain got worse. On Monday my PC doc got me a CT scan which showed appendicitis. That same evening I had surgery. The ER doctor should have recognized my symptoms and done a CT scan. However, my surgical team was fantastic, and the post surgery nursing staff were great.

Wonderful care, great nurses, and great food! I was quite impressed!

I have always received excellent service at WMMC, from melanoma removal 15 years ago to more recently our child’s need for Physical and Speech Therapy. Our community is very luck to have Western Missouri Medical Center.

Judy Thomas

My daughter was seen there a year ago after passing out randomly and broke her nose from the fall, so she went to the ER because it was closest to ucm. They let her go and said you're slightly dehydrated, just drink more water. A few weeks after, she followed up with her primary Doctor who performed an EKG and immediately sent her to cardiology where she was scheduled to have heart surgery with a specialist a month or two later. Still to this day trying to get the ER bill sorted out because it keeps changing and then no one calls back. I'm happy to pay the real balance, but no one seems to give you the same answer.

Miguel Lara IV

Very nice care. I got 4 stitches here. For my first time getting stitches they made it easy for me. The only problem was the wait in the emergency room. I sat in there for 2 hours with a big cut on my leg.

I feel very fortunate to have such an amazing hospital and clinics in our community. Not every "rural" community can receive care so close to home, including emergency, obstetrics, pediatrics, orthopedics and much more. I have personally received incredible care by so many here, including delivering my first child here. I couldn't have asked for better care. OB focuses on creating an environment that is best for mom and baby by allowing immediate skin-to-skin (even after a c-section), a clear c-section drape, on-site lactation consultant, beautiful rooms and incredibly caring staff. They made me feel at ease during this new experience for me and my husband. We weren't just another number. Furthermore, my friends and family have received life-saving care here. Being able to be close to my loved ones while they were receiving care really eliminated unwanted stress. Thank you to all the providers associated with WMMC! You all have impacted my life for the better. I'm also honored to call WMMC my work family. They treat their employees like family.

D Kathcart

Fantastic place to work and for quality care.

Kristen Campbell

Everyone from the lab techs to nursing staff to midwives and doctors made my birth experience here everything I had hoped for! I will always deliver my babies here!

Ruth Dillingham

Great care. Very short wait. Knowlledgeable. I appreciate all the services provided by the various fields.

Kristina McCullough

I have delivered two babies here and been in the ER quite a few times. I did have one pretty awful experience with a doctor telling me my unborn baby didn’t matter when I was in the ER and thought we might be losing him. Luckily I went somewhere else and found out he was okay. The L&D is fantastic! The ER is good but not great. Overall a good hospital and don’t mind coming here when I need to.

Erick Polaco

Medical staff was amazing helped in every way possible I would leave my baby with them with full confidence that they know what they are doing. Had a clean environment and amazing security.!!!!

Judith Lacy

My mom was brought into the ER last night because she had fallen and could not get up. While I was there noone came in to see if she needed anything including if she needed to use the restroom. When I went to the nurse to tell them she needed to use the restroom she said ok just have her go. A nurse should have come and helped her to the restroom, instead I did, if I wasn't there my mom may have had to go by herself and could have fallen again. So I'm disappointed in the nursing staff.

My daughter had an injury while playing softball in the city so she was taken to ST. Luke's East ER after sitting with her for what seemed like forever and hearing her cry because of the pain we decided to leave and come to our hospital. While checking in to the ER we sat for only a few mins then was immediately called back to the triage after triaging her they gave her a room and began treating her. Everyone from the front desk to the nurse practitioner who saw her was extremely kind and let us know what was happening at all times. Everyone was professional and I'm so glad I choose to bring her here!! Thanks so much for all you guys do!

Ace Bro's

My experience was horrible it took an 3 hours to get a strep throat and flu test done like what are you doing jacking around? The nurses were ok but the doctors when you first get their horrible they suck I wish I could give it better but it deserves a zero

cassie ackerman

The staff at WMMC is amazing and very caring. I had my son here and everyone was very helpful and caring. If I had to do it do it again I would definitely deliver here! Everyone that I met was very friendly!

Shannon Glover

My family’s experience at Western Missouri Medical Center has been superior. We feel so fortunate to have such excellent healthcare right here in Warrensburg!

David Harper

What do you have to do to get the doctors office at Central Family to reply to you email or call you back. I have been waiting for four week now and no call or email. I have sent four emails and left three call on the nurse's message line. I am really thinking of looking for a different doctor. I know what they want is to get you to make an appointment so they can charge for another office call. It would take them five minutes to call me and tell me what I need to know. If the person in change of the hospital was not running it into the ground they would not need to being trying to find ways to rip people off by getting more money out of them for nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kayleen Thomas

Everyone is so friendly! When trying to get an outpatient test done, the order got messed up, and instead of being told it couldn't be done that day, or I would have to call my doctor and do it another time, they made the effort right then and there to fix the issue and get my tests done. Great teamwork and customer service!!

Cynthia Davis

This is SPECIFICALLY for labor and deliver nurses. A HUGE shout out to nurse Amy, Sarah, and Stacie they made our experience easy and made us feel valued the entire stay. They really go above and beyond for each of their patients. Thank you to all nurses that came and checked on us and helped during our stay.

steven Baum

Had surgery on 16TH January 2018 and everyone from admission to discharge were great. I hope your blessed like me to get Marilyn Sutton a CNT on nights or Amy Myles from the cafeteria on days both went above and beyond to help me during my recovery. I would chose this hospital again thanks for the great job.

Within the first month of working here I couldn't ask for a better environment to be in. If I had one word to describe WMMC it would be devoted. Devoted to their community and devoted to providing the best possible care.

Heather Patrick

Worst hospital ever. My family has had to experiences with WMMC and they have both been terrible. Doctors are rude, don't listen to their patients. Seem to just seem to want to see you and get you out of their hair. Will never go here again for any reason. In both experiences we have had to go elsewhere to get proper medical attention.

Nov. 2011: After hearing bad things about this hospital (especially the emergency room), I was unsure about having my baby here. However, I live like 2 minutes away from it, but was going to another hospital that was HORRIBLE. After soem really bad experiences at the other hospital, I decided to just bite the bullet and go here. Best decision of my life. The midwives are amazing! Connie delivered my little munchkin and it was probably the best experience it could have been. Without her, a doctor probably would have made me have a c-section. I wasn't progressing very fast but the pains were horrendous because I was having back labor so she stuck me in the Jacuzzi and I proceeded to fall asleep and think that I was not in labor anymore. The water relaxed me enough to finally progress and after an hour, I had dilated so much more. THANK YOU for your amazing care! Now for the bad part...the nurses didn't want to listen to me and had to ask the midwife for all of my requests. I went drug free and wanted NOTHING. After the birth, a nurse was prepping a needle and getting it ready to stick into me when I asked what it was. Pitocin, she says, to keep me from bleeding too much. I told her a firm NO. My birth was perfect (well, maybe not perfect), why did I need an unnatural drug? Turns out, I was fine like I thought. They DO overcharge for EVERYTHING, but welcome to a hospital. I took 1 ibuprofen while there. One. I got charged over $300 for it. I also got charged for drugs I did not use and asked not to have. That made me pretty mad. I could not fault the care otherwise though. ETA Sept. 2013: I purposely drove 50 minutes during transition to give birth to my second child because I feel like my experience with this hospital could not have been beaten. Once again, they delivered top notch care and since I knew the standard procedures, it was easier to voice my wishes. The nurses, staff, and midwives here are amazing. Wow! Upped from 4 star to 5. :)

Excellent service. Fast and friendly.

MISTER ROWENTREE

Western Missouri Medical- My best endorsement is - it's all that is available in Warrensburg. - I have caught Doctors, Nurses, and Administration staff lying about communicating with other health professionals, why something was missed during ER, why they gave and charged for a test that could not be conclusive because their equipment was not capable, instead of informing the doctor and/or my wife and I. Making us go elsewhere to get a valid test and be billed for both. - We've had very rude treatment by various staff that essentially seemed like: They felt being overweight was our fault and was something we should just go home and handle, then come back if the symptoms that brought us there hadn't gone away; They saw that we were regular customers (with an unpaid balance), so were probably just there wasting important people's time and keeping those really needing it away from care; we gave too many details, until something goes wrong and then we didn't mention that at all or at least emphatically enough for them to take notice/us seriously. - Despite having documentation for nearly 20 years from our visits there and to partner doctors and facilities - they've told us they didn't have all the information necessary to make a good decision... or that WE were not forthcoming enough with information! ANYONE WHO KNOWS ME KNOWS TOO LITTLE INFO IS SELDOM AN ISSUE...sorry for shouting. - Make their bills so confusing even insurance filing professionals can't make sense of it. -Half the time my wife goes in to have blood drawn or an IV (like iron treatments) they aignore us the first 3 times we say, "She's a hard stick. Her veins roll and hide. You usually have to call in the reinforcements..." So she ends up with a world map of bruises that often takes months to go away. The ringer almost always says - "Why wasn't I called immediately?" - They insist you see their staff doctors and don't keep your primary care physician informed in a timely manner. [When asked about a prescription for an NSAID our primary doctor had said "never take again" because of stomach bleeding and iron deficiency history my wife has.... We were told the doctor had been informed. I specifically asked, "This is the weekend. Has he been called and conferred with, or did they simply put the information in her chart and give him digital access to those notes?" With an eye shift, the nurse said the attending doctor had made the appropriate contact and consultation before prescribing meds. When she left the room, I called Dr. Hasan and he said, "No one has contacted me, why is she in the hospital?" -On numerous occasions my wife and I have gone to this hospital for outpatient testing or procedures or the ER, after an appointment/preapproval was set up by our doctor's office, only to find that they could not accommodate our size - despite records showing we are obese... several weight recordings at both the hospital and the doctor's office should have been readily available. So we were charged for an outpatient visit to say - "We didn't preapprove with the necessary facts and documents required for this procedur to be successful. Now, we have met some dedicated, competent, caring and efficient professionals there... and they are always such a welcome surprise. So if rudeness, dishonesty, negligence, incompetence, lack of attention to detail and all around poor service are what you are after - WMMC won't dissappoint.

I am honored to work for such a wonderful, caring Hospital. I personally work for our Orthopedic clinic (Western Missouri Bone and Joint). I am proud to say we have the best Orthopedic surgeons and staff. Our primary goal is for our patients and family to experience to best care they have ever experienced. Our hospital, specialty clinics, Internal Medicine and Family Practice are all equally amazing. We have a lot to offer our community and our awesome Administration is always pushing to stay ahead of the curve. Please give us the opportunity to care for you and prove ourselves to you and your family.

I wanted to give a shout out to WMMC Emergency Room. I had to take my 3 year old daughter to the ER last night (little sweet pea stuck a bead WAY up her nose at school and I discovered it at bedtime). We were in and out in under an hour with the bead successfully and painlessly removed! Both the receptionist and triage were super sweet and comforting and the Nurse Practitioner was very gentle and personable as well! We never waited more than 5 minutes and it was overall a great experience. It was an experience I would have only hoped for from a hospital in Kansas City. I left with a smiling little girl who never cried and was happy about her stickers she received for being so brave!

Samantha

All the staff were unbelievably caring and kind. I felt so comforted and taken care of.

I have always been treated excellent. Have had the best care at this Hospital. Would recommend it to anyone.

I've had several different types of surgeries over the last 10-15 years in and around KC/Liberty/St. Joseph area. My experience here at WMMC was by far the best experience I've had at any inpatient or outpatient surgery center. It was the most informed I've ever been and that's important to me. I appreciated them telling me what they were doing and why, and then what to expect. The staff just felt more genuine with me. I know they were busy, but WMMC staff wasn't in such a hurry that I felt like I was being herded through the assembly line. The aneth doctor was the same way. Deliberate and yet not hurried. One of the nurses in prep accompanied me into the OR which I thought was nice too. She had spent an hour or so with me already and I didn't have anyone with me that day so that familiarity was nice. There were two nurses in the OR room that also stood out. One was absolutely a nut! She was so up beat and funny! Another one stood beside the table with her hand on my forearm reassuring me that they would take good care of me. I've heard that before, but the touch on my arm made it that much more assuring. They were being so meticulous and serious about me that I felt like making sure they knew I was just getting a somewhat minor surgery on my knee and not a heart bypass. LOL. They called a few hours later to check on me and then again the next day. I'm glad I have a good hospital that is local. I believe people can be professionals and yet still be genuine and courteous. I guess health professionals don't have to "care" for the person in order to treat the body, but it sure makes a difference when they do. Thank you WMMC.

Tony Dean

They're ER has very poor service. Also used tissue on table. Disgusting.

Allison Fields

Sitting in the hospital now with something I think is pretty major. Not a long wait in the waiting room at all but I’ve been sitting in this room a little out of the way waiting for the doctor to actually take tests or come talk to me. If the community actually cared about it’s people wouldn’t they care about their health and how fast? The lady who comes to update information left and came back faster than a nurse or doctor has come to check up on me. Sitting here is more excruciating than it felt at home.

Kerri Lewis

Every visit to WMMC has been nice. The employees I come in contact with are pleasant and extremely helpful. I am impressed to see how much the hospital has grown over the years, from the facilities to the services offered.

Danielle Schroeder

Took a friend of mine to have surgery there today by Dr Mizara. She was very impress that he prayed for us before surgery very nice to have your doctor do that.

Deanna Clark

I had an accident in my barn late one evening this past summer. I knew right away that I would need stitches in my left forearm. Dreading a long night in the ER I made the decision to drive to Warrensburg to WMMC from north of Sedalia in hopes that I would be seen quickly. I was SO impressed! It was not only fast but the emergency staff were knowledgeable and friendly. It was **hands down ** the smoothest emergency room visit I have ever experienced. From triage and admitting, to examination, treatment and discharge, WMMC ER exceeded my expectations!!

Michael Pierce

Probably the most incompetent hospital I have ever been to. Be prepared for a six hour wait time, extremely slow service and horrible decision making. Do yourself a favor and drive to Lee's summit.

Worst ER in the world!!!!. Heather at the front desk will talk down to you and demean you for being disabled and having medicaid. Dr Schultz accused me of being a drug addict without saying it, his exact words were "I'm not here to prescribe you narcotics: and he turned his back on me and walked out without ever looking at my leg. I went to bothwell had a leg infection needed a shot, antibiotics, and pain pills. Just had and mri performed this morning at bothwell and was called by the dr and told I have a fracture in my knee as well as multiple tears and should not be walking or putting any weight on my leg period, and need a specialist to review extent of damage on my mri asap. They sent me from the er in warrensburg without so much as a bandaid or an aspirin. Didn't even weigh me, just asked my weight. When I came back and talked to Heather the next day to get names of her and Dr's and nurses involved, I told her she discriminated against a disabled person, never raised my voice or anything, had my nieces 4 and 8 years old with me, apparently the leg immobilizer and crutches were intimidating enough she called the security guard up on me...WORST HOPITAL EVER, speaking with a renounced attorney he told me wmmc is the worst of the worst and avoid it like the plague. For every 15-20 people there there is one good one, the rest can't find better jobs elseware, or have been fired elseware and this is the only place desperate enough to take them.

My daughter has had 1 child there and a hernia surgery. Both times the staff has been excellent with her care.

The Obstetrics Department is phenomenal! I just had my little one 2 days ago, and wouldn't have wanted to do it any place else. This is my first baby and I had no idea what to expect going into labor and delivery. The nurses all made me feel comfortable and lifted my spirits when I started feeling scared or that I couldn't do it. They never encouraged me to do something I didn't want and took excellent care of me, my baby, and significant other during our stay. ❤

David Rodriguez

If I could give this hopsital a 0 I would do it in a heartbeat! I went in for a chest scan for chest pains, and I got all the work done and they said they were going to get the results to the clinic that had sent me there in a few days. I waited a week and I finally decided to call the clinic and they said they have not recieved anything and that they were going to call the clinic and find out what happened. The clinic called me back saying that the results werent done. I repeated this for a whole month and never got results. By then I had gone home on spring break and seen my doctor and got the results for the scans THE SAME DAY! They still want me to pay them for an unfinished job!!!

Makayla Dulaney

1 star is being way too generous. Very rude staff and ditzy nurses. I would rather die in an ambulance on the way to St. Luke's than go to WMMC

Cindy Schroer

Patient, caring people who really listen.

Hailey Mabry-Martin

In December we came to the hospital to deliver our son. Despite many complications, the nursing staff, Anethesiologist, midwives and Dr. Alumbaugh were all so amazing. Made us feel comfortable and answered all of our questions. The only suggestion I have is be sure to keep on top of when you need your pain meds, a couple of nurses forgot to bring mine but when we called and asked for them, they were brought in immediately.

Katherine Ream

I had my son at WMMC 6 months ago and finally ready to sit down and write a recommendation! I originally started my care at Bothwell in Sedalia, however, I had a poor experience and I am so thankful I made the switch to WMMC! The staff was incredible; everyone from the Midwifes, the nurses, housekeeping to the dietary staff were terrific! Everyone was so welcoming and sincerely seemed to enjoy their job! I personally saw the midwives and they had a way of making you feel like a friend when you came in for prenatal visits. They truly made me feel welcome and made my pregnancy and delivery a wonderful experience. Compared to my previous experience with my local hospital, I never felt as if I was rushed through my appointments, I never felt like just another patient and I never felt like an inconvenience. The midwives and staff were always very informative, provided classes and additional resources to get you ready for baby and breastfeeding! They always kept you up to date with what your body was going through, what to expect and how to ease any pain or discomfort you may have. Lastly a special Thank You to Midwives Tracey and Amanda for your compassion, patience, hospitality, knowledge, and warm welcoming presence at any interaction. I cannot say thank you enough to all of WMMC!!

Horrible. Too much to explain. All I can say is that every time we have came here, it is an exercise in futility. Useless! Revision, just came back a second time to get my X-ray's that I paid thousands of dollars for only to be told that the daytime staff didn't know what they were talking about. I can't pick them up anytime. Pfffff, what a joke! Trained monkeys could manage a hospital better. Go to the city where real care happens!

Shelly Cantwell

I injured my wrist in a fall, after several hours of trying to talk myself out of going to the ER I went in to be seen, I had excellent service, both by the front desk, nurses and the doctor that I saw! I was very impressed with the care and attention that I received. It was amazing I was in and out in less than 1 hour!!! Great job!

Tyler Diibon

Was told my insurance was accepted, when I received the bill I found out my insurance was not accepted. The stitches that were installed would “dissolve in 5-7 days” and 27 days later the stitches still haven’t dissolve and the area is becoming irritated/infected and they refuse to take them out. They also did not numb my lip before installing the stitches. ONCE I was brought back I still had to wait for 4 hours. Very poor experience here.

Al Simons

I will try to keep this as short as possible.Went to my doctor for a follow up visit due to pain i have been experiencing for the past week and and a half due to a bad injury that is expected to recover in 6 weeks. My doctor didnt accommodate for the pain i have been experiencing and asserted that all she could do was give me motrin.Frustrated with the lack of care provided i went to the er of western mo medical center and was actually given x rays and given the courtesy of relieving the pain and discomfort. The staff are very nice and understanding people who actually care about their patients, this is a great example how a hospital should conduct themselves and i am very grateful.

The Emergency room at this place is terrible, My daughters primary physician sent her here for treatment and she was refused treatment that was recommended by her doctor . "Doctor Norris" should be cleaning urinals not treating patients. The poor ratings for this E.R. are well deserved.

Very unprofessional! Have been there numerous times everything about this hospital is terrible. The billing department is the most unorganized part of a completely unorganized place. Will not ever be back

While visiting the WMMC while on summer break from college, I went for a physical and vaccines for nursing school. The wait time is slightly ridiculous, and I feel as if the staff is overworked or easily annoyed. The Patient Access Rep at the clinic was probably the nicest person I encountered. After a 15-20 minute wait, I finally got in. My nurse was awesome, slightly grumpy, but answered all my questions regarding my vaccines. However, when I finally saw Dr. Brockhaus, I felt rushed. She did less than 5 minute physical, and the way she washed her hands was not state standard (I'm a CNA, and state would of tagged me if I washed my hands that abrupt). I felt she was impersonal, and did not take time to answer some of my concerns. After a 10 minute wait, for my nurse to come back with vaccinations, a new nurse came in and gave me my TB test, but NOT my vaccines. Okay, that is what I asked for, but what about the vaccines? They were out of every kind I needed. I pay a $40 copay for this? Then I was supposed to get a chickenpox titer. They forgot about it, and I waited twenty minutes in the lobby for that. The phlebotomist, Tammy, was extremely rude to me for no reason. Yes, I'm sorry I'm interrupting your lunch break, but I've been here for hours with minimal help. She was very RUDE. I was a phlebotomist before so I am very familiar with the steps. Tammy did not wear gloves (ew!), Tammy did not identify who I was before drawing my blood or label the tube in front of me. When I told her about my left vein not working as well as the right, she almost refused to listen to me. THIS IS MY PATIENT RIGHT. I know which vein works, I asked you to draw this vein, do not give me attitude. Then she yelled at me for not knowing where to send it to (Quest or Labcorp). Um, when I was a phlebotomist billing did that, and she antagonized me and said I should know. From then on, I returned the attitude which shut her up quick because you should NEVER talk to a patient like that. Overall, I did not get what I paid for. $40 to be forgotten and ignored and disrespected and waited on forever..... yep, I'll find a new place to go get medical care.

I had my son here at the OB dept back in 2014 and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. The nurses were attentive, nice, and accommodating. The facility was clean and they offered a lot for laboring mothers. We have also been to the ER several times. For the most part it has been good, just at times really slow. Perhaps understaffed? Which, I am not sure if that's normal for a small town or not. My son has also received Speech Therapy services here and I wouldn't recommend his therapist. We eventually left and got services through First Steps which was amazing. We currently have been getting services at Occupational Therapy and that has been good. Billing department- nightmare. Good luck with that.

Great quick flight physical, but the chairs in the main waiting room are uncomfortable. 5/5.

A sublime confluence of outrageous expense and marginal competence. Do yourself a favor and pass on them if you have a choice. Edit 12/07/16. The above review was posted a few weeks ago to express my mild irritation with what I considered to be an exorbitant charge in the face of intransigence from WMMC. I would like to apologize for the above review, it was too charitable by several orders of magnitude. Today we got a bill for two relatively minor outpatient procedures for my bride last summer. The bill for the room for the first procedure, that lasted around an hour was...drum roll...$7,720. The bill for the room for the second procedure, again lasting about an hour, was, you guessed it, $7,720. That is $15,440 for the room for two outpatient procedures. Words literally fail me in this case. Perfidy? Avarice? Alas, they will not serve. They are weak broth in the face of the monumental unconscionability of this institution. WMMC can justly pride itself on being the archetype, symbol and avatar of a terminally dysfunctional medical system. If I ever wind up there again I fully expect them to meet me in the emergency room with a black mask and pistol uttering the words "Stand and deliver!" Total charges of $18,597 do not include the services of the doctor whom we like. I am at this point prepared to have my last words in life be: "Get me to St. Lukes."

I hate I even have to give it a 1. Was in the waiting room over and hour and then sat in a room over an hour with NO doctor to even come in. Worst place to go unless you are dying. But maybe even then you shouldn't. The doctors are rude, no customer service, and make you feel like a whiner for coming to them for help and they do not take you seriously about issues that could potentionally be serious to your health. I have a failing gullbladder and was in for that reason and still waited over 2 hours for medical attention before my fiance and I walked out.

We have been waiting in the ER since 9:45!!!! Staff is very unfriendly!!!! Terrible experience so far!!!! We finally left at like 12:45. Worst hospital I have ever been in. Nurse was extremely rude that took him back and did his weight and asked what was wrong with him. Didnt care at all!!! Wrote it down on scrap paper and said ok, then went back and sat at her desk....didnt tell us what to do or thank you....nothing. they did an EKG and a chest xray and sat us in the waiting room for over three hours. We left.

One star really is too nice but again there is no Zero star option. This hospital is absolutely horrible. Something has gone wrong with every single experience I've had there. Either paperwork/orders lost, given wrong information (such as being sent to Radiology for a test to be done that day, then told by Radiology that this particular test must be scheduled and not just a walk-in even though I was sent by the E.R.), extremely long wait times in the ER, reports being filed with the wrong information by the nurse so that the hospital can't get in trouble for screwing up and not being properly and fully informed of our options and rights. And even worse having to make multiple trips to the ER (less than 24hrs apart) before they would finally admit even though they should have done so on the first visit (pretty sure they just wanted the extra money). We can't go anywhere else either without fighting with our insurance because this is the closest hospital to us. Just an awful place.

Kathleen Selig

ER is awful but PT staff is amazing.

Kelsy Perkins

Wonderfully people and very caring Dr's

Kayla Ryun

Facility was clean. About adverage emergency room wait time. Below adverage patient care. Nurses are helpful. Doctors on call speak in a disrespectful and demeaning tone both times I have needed to visit. An ER visit is generally last place you want to be. And even more so when medical professionals speak to you in such manner. I can say that I don't ever plan to use this facility in the future.

I am here currently, with my nine month old son. We've been waiting well over an hour just to see a doctor.

Mindi Jenkins

In July I delivered my son at WMMC. Dr. Gregory, Dr. Alumbaugh, and Dr. Birchmeier at the women's health clinic are amazing. They answered all my questions and took great care of us from the beginning of my pregnancy through the delivery and hospital stay. I would highly recommend these doctors. The nurses and staff in the obstetrics department are also great. Lisa and Gina were really amazing during our visit. We had Lisa before and during the delivery and we had Gina after the delivery. I won't go into details but their help during this time when I was so vulnerable and exhausted meant so much to me. We'll definitely be back for our next delivery.

1 star is too nice, but there's no option for 0 stars. My father unexpectedly passed away today so my mother's doctor suggested we bring my mother into the hospital due to her poor health. The doctor was concerned how my mother would hold up with the news of my father's sudden death. After 2 1/2 hours of treating my mother for a headache we finally paged the doctor again. The nurses were supposed to be monitoring her blood pressure and oxygen levels. They never reported any of this to the doctor. They told us they didn't have any beds to admit her, but suddenly within 5 minutes of speaking to the doctor 4 beds opened up. After finally telling us my mother is going to have a bed it's 3 hours later and she's still sitting in a wheelchair in the ER. This is the worst experience I've ever been a part of.

I don't know how this place could be called a hospital. After many experiences with their Express Care I now refuse to return to their "medical center." At one of my first experience with WMMC was more than poor. I went in to Express Care due symptoms of a strep throat. I went into this building that looked to be like an afterthought. Visited a receptionist who seemed to be fed up with my presence. This was followed by what seemed to be an abnomally long wait for an empty waiting room. I was seen by their nurse practitioner who also seemed to be annoyed. Although the staff had terrible customer service, I continued to visit Express Care due to the lack of another location. THIS IS WHAT COMPLETELY RUINED THEM During a visit with my fiance, who was experiencing some abnormal vaginal bleeding, the nurse went half way through with the pelvic exam with the door open. After other patients began to walk down the hall the two nurses in the our exam room giggled and one said "well I guess we should close this," as she closed the door. Later that week we called customer service and complained about the service. We got the run around and kept being told that we would receive a call to resolve this. Eventually we received a letter saying that they felt their services were adequate and if we wanted to do anything more we should contact Jefferson City. (Which we did) After a mess of billing we received threats of going to collections multiple times, even after paying. Two-three months ago we went to their billing department in the basement of another building to sort everything out. The receptionist gave us a total and told us that's all we owed and we should be good. We paid it while we were there. But before leaving she said there was something weird with our account and made a few calls while we were there. After not solving anything she told us someone would call us. And of course nobody ever called. This past week we received another bill from WMMC. Unless I am dying I will NOT go to Western Missouri again. They may have everything they need to treat you but they have the worst customer service I have ever seen at a care facility. Avoid WMMC at all cost! ______________________________ UPDATE!!! 10/08/18 Today we received a call telling us that we owe $1300+. "According to their records" my wife was seen by NP Patricia Garcia and had labs run. However, we have not been back to Express Care since our last issue, where NP Garcia works. My wife did go in to Labor and Delivery to be monitored in September but never saw a doctor or NP, only nurses. At the time we were covered by Missouri Medicare for Pregnant Women, which should have covered everything. Fast forward to today.... We got a call aledging that we owe this money and we haven't had any contact with their office since this visit. We spoke with Wendy from the Extended Business Office for Patient Finacial Service. She attempted to transfer us to Customer Service who didn't answer. We were then transferred back to Wendy who inadvertently answered the phone early and said "Oh my God, are you serious. No one is available in customer service." Then she realized we were on the line and said "Oh are you still there." Wendy told us that they tried to contact us multiple times, however, we never received a bill, email, or call. We moved from Warrensburg in February and had our mail forwarded with the post office. It took over a year for them to contact us about this balance for a NP we didn't see and Labs that didn't get done. We didnt get anything resolved today but we were told someone would call us back, which in the past has never happened. We also recieved the Patient Advocate phone number which we called and left a voicemail. All the stress that WMMC has caused is ridiculous. Once again this not a place I would go if I could help it. I sincerely hope that this can be resolved and that insurance still covers this. Customer service at WMMC is unacceptable.

I just had surgery on my left knee yesterday at WMMC. Everyone from Nancy in reception to Mary Lou who brought me back to Ambulatory care, Susan Malone, Karen Kopp, and the others nurses in Ambulatory care, Susan from Cardiac rehab, and Sue Simpson from PACU. Oh and of course Andria from Lab. They were all wonderful!!! I felt so comfortable around them as I had worked with them for many years. There are all excellent employees!!! Dr. Wittgren was also wonderful. He explained everything to me and my husband. I am so glad that I chose him for me surgeon. I barely have any pain at all!!WMMC is lucky to have him!

Sara Weir

All three of my kiddos were seen in Express Care for strep. The staff there took great care of us, and got us in and out...even on a weekend. Great alternative to the going to the ER.

VB Stars

Were the only ones in the ER @ 4 am, and it took 45 minutes to be seen by a doctor! Receptionist were terrible, and seemed lacking of knowledge. Piss poor experience.

Seth Walz

Terrible ER experience. Staff doesn't care. Slow even though only a few people waiting.

Octavia Copes

Very rude staff!!! I didn’t know how to do the at home care for my treatment and the nurse rushed to everything! She didn’t even make sure I understood what I was doing. Let alone, the doctor wouldn’t listen to what I was saying about how I felt for the course of treatment. I came to the hospital because I needed help with the at home remedies, why send me how with the SAME EXACT STUFF I BOUGHT FROM WALMART

Jennie Snapp

I have experienced both the ER and the Express Care within the last year with my one year old. Both times that I have gone, I have received great care and very knowledgeable information from the doctor and their nurses. Being a new mom, it is very important to me that I understand my child's diagnosis and feel comfortable taking him home and watching for other symptoms that may arise. I live in Sedalia, and while it is a 25-30 minute drive, it is WELL worth it!

Veronika Conaway

Western Missouri Express Care is definitely the place to go if you schedule an appointment and want to wait up to 30 minutes to be seen. We were the only ones in the lobby for a well check, and while the receptionist was nice and friendly, we weren't told that it would be a while wait. We ended up leaving after 30 minutes. We'll find another friendly office where we are worth advising of long wait time

Steve Hadley

The worst hospital in the world. The staff is rude and insensitive and don't care one bit if you're in pain and in fact they seem to love seeing you in pain. Didn't give me enough pills until I can see another doctor and it's Sunday and I'm out and in extreme pain. To top it off they never gave me back my shirt they had to take off because I had broken ribs . It had my work I.D. on it. If in need of another ambulance ride I'll tell the EMT's to take me to the nearest veterinarian clinic as the care would be much better and the staff 100% more concerned with my pain maintenance !!!

Bob Mickey

I recently had my first experience with WM Bone & Joint clinic at WMMC. The facility is brand new and very impressive. The staff was friendly and professional. Dr Rupp quickly diagnosed the cause of my shoulder pain after examining the X-rays and my shoulder. I was given an understandable diagnosis and several options for treatment. I chose to receive a couple injections. Between that and a prescription I was back to 100% within days, all with just one visit! Overall a very successful and satisfactory experience. Great to have such a progressive clinic here in Johnson County!

Krista Ransdell

Have had nothing but great experiences with multiple providers and different offices from WMMC. They have made many recent improvements and updates to improve healthcare for the community. They really care about their patients and the local community, and it shows.

Logan Carlyle

Brought my significant other to the ER to have some pain in her side checked out and it was a very quick and easy process. The doctor and nurses were very thorough in explaining why they were taking certain tests and any possible reasoning causing the pain. We felt very informed and comfortable within the waiting room. The hospital also has a great dining area with a comfortable atmosphere. Their menu changes everyday and includes multiple healthy conscious options. I feel lucky to have this organization available to Warrensburg and the surrounding communities.

Beanna Gonzales

During my pregnancy I have visited the women's health center often. Each of the doctors and midwives are very kind, and give you the best quality visit while also making sure not to keep you in the room waiting for too long. I have also had to have monthly growth ultrasounds and each tech I seen was very nice and answered my questions if I had any.

Elaine Jennings

I visited the lactation consultants office at Western Missouri Medical Center a few days after delivery. Ruthie was incredibly helpful with all my questions and concerns. I felt very comfortable talking to her about the issues I was having and her advice enabled me to continue pumping for the baby.

We just finished delivering our second baby at WMMC. The staff here is incredible. We could not ask for anything more. Two amazing experiences. Thank you!

Elise Elly

If I could give no stars I would,I went there having issues swallowing none of my food I was able to get down stayed in me and they told me it was all in my head, my parents came and got me the next day took me back home and took me to the er where they hospitalized me right away because I was severely dehydrated which the er at warrensburg couldn't tell and they did a colonoscopy and found I had a virus that attacked my digestive system and caused nerve damage. I'm not from Missouri so back home er was in KY.

Pamela Thompson

Dr Bliss is an amazing surgeon. He has excellent bedside manner and is very personable. All of the attending staff, Vanessa,Sue, Kayla, April,Seth, Meena, Johnnie and many others were superb. Thank you so much for the wonderful care and compassion you have shown to myself and my family.

Suzy Latare

Lots of really cute items at the Wishing Well gift store!

This is the worst hospital i've ever had dealing with wouldn't let them touch my service dog can't wait for st Luke hospital to take them over and fire the CEO and all of them they use strong arm tactics to force the good personnel care doctors to tearmanat patients care the er staff and doctors as well need to be fire and told you don't tell parents that if they kill your child they can bring them back

Tom McKinney

I have had several visits to Western Missouri Medical Center over the years and I have always been very satisfied with my care. The nursing staff are second to none. The facility is clean and well kept. I would highly recommend the hospital.

Alexis Carey

Every time I call up there or go to the hospital, everyone on the phone is always so rude. And when I go in there for personal care, they give me some bs diagnosis. Messed up my shoulder almost 3 years ago and they told me it was a pinched nerve, yet i still have problems to this day. You can also tell my shoulder is displaced bc my collar bone sticks out and is lower than my other one. Thanks for the amazing service you guys!

Pam Douglas

Took 2hours to get back to a bed. Never saw a nurse at all. Doctor came in shortly after I got to a room ask his questions decided what he was going to do and said a nurse would be right in! 45 min later while still in pain and never seeing a nurse! I left. When I was leaving nursing staff setting around at the desk.

I've always been happy with my care, as well as work experience, at WMMC. The employees here truly care about their patients and are dedicated to quality care. I'm proud to work with such passionate people!

The lpn in the emergency room walked in the room un anounced took my daughter and restrained to her chest and after i asked form my daughter back she shook her head no at me and moved away my daughter was screaming untell she lost her breath just so the doctor can listen to her heart and scared this is not the first time this lpn has done this and i will never bring my 1 year there agian and will never go there myself.

William Nelson

These people must be overworked or something, rude, no common courtesy and you feel like you're wrong for coming to them for help.

Linda Craven

Excellent service. Staff very respectful ! Dr. Brewington is awesome. Takes time to listen and is very thorough. 110% sarisfied!

I was VERY impressed with how I was treated at this facility. The nurses were always prompt to assist in anything we needed and truly went above and beyond to meet our specific needs. An amazing birthing experience and recovery. Definitely recommend this hospital to all expecting mothers!

Midwest DJ

Pulmonary staff is incompetent and unprofessional. They do not answer the phone. I would leave several messages and not get a call back. Needless to say, I did not have a good experience. The doctor is great, however the staff will not call back for schedule changes and then schedule appointments without a patient knowing the time. Find another pulmonary clinic if you can. Would not recommend this clinic unless you have plenty of time to waste constantly calling and leaving messages to no end.

Brenden Wiley

Good hospital.

Jennifer Pfeifer

Dr. Asif at Building Blocks pediatrics is great! Never a long wait and he takes great care of the kids.
