Rude staff, will gossip and talk behind your back. But, let's call it like it is. The better word is harassment. They don't have manners, and carry a chip on their shoulders. Additionally, will not respond to complaints. I left a call on their mailbox, and they would not reach out to me. So, here goes a bad google review.. Also, the doctor laughed about my concern for acne scaring. I had a significant cystic acne lump on my face, and she thought my worries were funny.... I have several prominent scars from skin damage already. Not cool, and very rude. All I wanted was a cortisone shot to fix my skin. I mean, I guess they want me to go to the Maryland Attorney General or the medical board? We shall see.

People handling the front desk are very unprofessional. They have such nasty attitudes, no matter what time of the day. My family and I will never be coming back.

Be CAREFUL and AWARE of the charges that you need to pay out of the pocket. They said they charge upfront and asked me pay 71$ for the visit. They had already taken my insurance details. When asked if they charged the insurance and got the approval. They said yes and asked me to pay the co-pay which was 20% coming to 71$ after paying the amount I asked for a detailed bill, looking at that I could clearly see I was CHEATED, bill was for 125$ and some discount of 50$ and rest is on me. They didn’t even charge the insurance. I have the bill as a proof for their cheating...

Great experience. Office was easy to get in and out of, people were attentive.

I had an appointment scheduled at 10:50 and I was advised to show up at around 10:30 since it was my first visit. that's what I did. but unfortunately, they kept me waiting for longer than an hour even though I was under a tremendous amount of pain and could not even sit! no bothered to apologize or try to give me a reason. when I complained, I kept hearing things like "I think you will be called next" another thing I found troublesome (this is very important to me, at least). I could clearly feel I was a customer not a patient. their stuff was super diligent on letting me know that if my insurance refuses to pay or if the "service" offered was not covered, I will have to pay that out of pocket.... I was told that over the phone, and then verbally when I got to the office, and again I had to sign in a document in this context. on a good note, the nurse that tool care of me was nice and tried to manage the stress I was under

I found that a Rockville location front desk staff was too lazy to check if a fax was received, for a request, from my prescription company. She said she didn’t know if it arrived and if it did, it will be taken care of. The next day, I learned the information was not returned and so I had to call the office manager, Leslie, to make sure it was done, and she took care of it. My provider, Lauren P.A., does an excellent job. I would’ve given this location 5 stars, but that lazy lady at the front desk, who wouldn’t get off her seat, lowered my rating. The front desk is fully staffed at this location so I’m sure it wasn’t a matter of whether being being able to complete the task.

I had a scary experience with a staph infection and bumps all over my face after a medical procedure from a doctor at another medical practice. I was so fortunate for Lauren Pollicino who diagnosed me and treated me with antibiotics and a topical medication that started to heal me within 24 hours.

The MA that my son saw was rude and unprofessional. She didn’t bother to read his chart and then asked me why we were there. I tried to explain, but she kept cutting me off. We have had good experiences with one of the PA’s here before, but this woman was horrible.

They over charged me for months. I had a letter from my insurance company saying my copay was reduced by 10$ and a new card was being issued in the mail. When I showed them the letter, they said they were going to charge me the old co-pay regardless until I got the New card. Then, they would issue me a refund check. When I got the new card, they said they didn't owe me any money even though the new co-pay had been in effect for months. So I had my insurance call them and was the third party on the phone call. They were rude and argued with my insurance company. GDOW finally agreed to issue me a refund check, they never did.

Dr. Colonna is excellent. He is highly knowledgeable, thorough and friendly. He also clearly and concisely answers questions. Additionally, Dr. Colonna looks at the patient as an individual. He doesn’t have a cookie-cutter / one-size-fits-all approach. Equally, if not more important, Dr. Colonna is true to his word. (See his statement about his dermatology practice.) He has only prescribed what I needed and wanted. What also stands out in my mind about Dr. Colonna — particularly from my second appointment with him — is his high level of expertise and ability to put a patient at ease. I was there for a skin biopsy. Dr. Colonna took only minutes to collect the skin sample and I didn’t feel a thing — no stinging or pinching. In fact, he collected the skin sample before I knew it. Afterwards, he clearly outlined the next steps. In addition, Dr. Colonna took the time to get to know and to address my individual wishes, needs and worries. He explained that the skin sample he took for the biopsy would not prevent me from engaging in my athletic activities. I have already recommended Dr. Colonna to family and friends. Ultimately, I would have given Dr. Colonna a 5 star plus (“+”) rating had the option been available. Give him a try...

If it wasn't for the front office staff it would have been a one star and our experience with them was great and the rating would have been higher but meeting the doctor is what lost this office any higher rating it would have gotten. To start this location is terrible, the parking is bad, the building is old and not handicap friendly apart from required by law handicap spaces. The waiting room was large with plenty of chairs and getting my wife's wheelchair through the door wasn't an issue. The staff was really friendly and welcoming to my wife and I and since I had forgotten her insurance cards at home the staff was accommodating and made it simple to send them electronically. The intake paperwork wasn't difficult for my wife to complete either. The hallways and patient rooms are a bit cramped but that is expected with an old building like this one. We waited for the doctor and my wife didn't have the strength or felt up to moving to the exam bed and soon Dr. Todd Colonna arrived, we explained the situation and he didn't really comment much and barely looked at the drained blisters on my wife's calves that have been developing while at the nursing home the past couple of weeks, he glanced at at them for a moment then prescribed some creams and just didn't seem to care and was barely in the room five minuets. He left and my wife was upset, she never wanted to back there and was mad that she asked a family member on a suggestion of who to see and going to this place. We never will be back to this office because of the Doctor's terrible indifferent bedside manner despite the lovely office staff we experienced.

Philip Neese

I had a very pleasant visit with the Doctor at this location. My only recommendation would be to not push a particular pharmacy on your patients even if you do not benefit from the relationship. I went to the one they recommended with assurances that my insurance would be accepted and it was not. Ultimately not a big deal. Just a tiny hassle ;). Everyone in the staff was friendly and very polite. I recommend going here!!!!

Johnny Bravo

Asked the receptionist over the phone if they accepted my insurance. She said yes. I filled out paperwork scheduled an office visit. I came in with the paperwork and my drivers license and insurance card. When I got there to give them the information the person at the desk apologized and said they do not take my insurance and (half heartedly apologized). I left and will never go back there. Morons.

A skin cancer diagnosis is scary, Dr. Redbord is in touch with her patients feelings and shows genuine concern. Mohs surgery was very stressful and it was clear that she knew how I was feeling, she was very supportive and even followed up that evening. I could not ask for better care.

Suzy T.

I was hesitant to use GWD after reading all the bad reviews, but I had a good experience here. The staff at the front desk was friendly and my wait time was minimal. I saw Lauren Pollicino, she answered all my questions and did not make me feel rushed in any way. I had a biopsy done and was given instructions on after-procedure care. I got a phone call , as promised with my results. I would definitely go back to Lauren again.

Dr Colletta is great! I have some ups and downs with some of the technicians, but once you find one that is good, ask to have them on going and they will allow that. I have also had some difficulties getting insurance to approve some procedures, but I can always count on the office taking care of those issues. I have yet to need to call my insurance company on behalf of them, they take care of it all for me which reduces a lot of stress for me. I would definitely recommend this practice. The front desk staff is always nice to me as well.

Eric Slud

My once-in-two-years body scan to check for skin cancers was reasonably thorough (I hope) but consisted of less than 10 minutes of the doctor's time after which I got a minimal (very standard and undetailed) verbal summary of what he was looking for. My request for his opinion about what kind of external medicine would help me with my psoriasis got me a prescription for a brand-new and unreasonably expensive medication (I found out at the pharmacy) rather than a recommendation of which of the many existing (and reasonably effective) medications might be most effective.

I went well. I did have trouble getting them to see me since I was 17, but I did have a note from my parent. In the end they did see me! It was fast getting in and the doctor was really nice.

If you’re a person of color I ABSOLUTELY do NOT recommend greater Washington dermatology. The front desk receptionist named Anna or Ana is the most rude, disrespectful, arrogant, obnoxious, vile human I have ever had the misfortune of meeting. Ana must be racist. Ana spoke to all the people of color with a disparaging and condescending tone, but treated all the white people very well. If you’re white you’ll be fine, but if you are a person of color you will NOT get quality care at Greater Washington Dermatology. I did not and will NEVER spend any money at this horrible institution and recommend you do not as well. At least until they fire Anna and get a new receptionist that actually cares about patients and is hospitable. 0/10 rating. -10/10 actually.

Alireza Saboori

Worst doctor's office experience I've ever had. I've seen both Dr. Barnett and Dr. Colonna and both have given poor advice and have shown signs of incompetence. And the staff there is rude and incompetent. I would definitely not recommend going here. In fact, I was forced to find a good dermatologist and made a list of the best in the area. Please reply to this review and I will send over the list!

I was able to get an appointment quickly and the doctor I saw efficiently diagnosed my problem. My family doctor was not able to do so and it was Friday so it helped to get in quickly. All was professional and the experience was excellent.

As an old farm boy who worked under the Oklahoma sun hundreds of hours when younger I have many skin lesions and have seen at least 6 dermatologists over my life. Some have been more professional and more efficient than others. But compared to others Dr. Barnett and his staff have been outstanding... The best of all. This has involved many appointments removing lesions and surgically excising cancers. I trust my life with this clinic. Having worked in health for 45 years now I know what I am talking about. I was extremely happy to find this practice. I had been very disappointed by the first dermatology group I found when I relocated here. The doctor was abrasive and the staff, while nice, didn't follow up on my health care needs without many reminders. My experience at GWD was great! Kelli, the PA that saw me was wonderful ,as was the staff. They told me things that I would need to do, and what they would do, and they did it. I highly recommend this practice!

Jim Allison

Short waiting time and pleasant service.

Not very happy with Dr. Colonna, but very happy with NP/PA Kelly Claire. Dr. Colonna didn’t listen to our child’s history and nearly gave her a medicine she could not take. Made several other mistakes that show a lack of attention to detail. A friend’s two children had similar experiences, including after explaining the biopsy experience and giving a choice of numbing agents, then doing the procedure without warning or numbing or cauterizing the site.

Heidi van der Walde

Before the office opened in the morning I was able to use the online system to make a same day appointment. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful and I was seen on time. Dr. Lauren Pollicino was amazing. She made a quick but thorough diagnosis for two different issues as well as a full body check. I never felt rushed and had all of my questions answered. I even convicned my husband to make an appointment the next month for his checkup.

After experiencing some discomfort on my legs which one Nurse Practitioner dismissed as insect bites and a full, seasoned MD attributed to dry skin treatable with a non-medicated cream, GWD determined in one session the root of the problem. With a prescription and a different over the counter cream, the itchiness and pimples all disappeared . The front desk people were most professional and there were no follow up bills.
