I've went to Southend Medical since before I was born. Mom's obstetrician practiced there, back when they were still in the old building. I went there for every booster shot, every bout of tonsillitis, every sniffle and every sprain for my entire childhood and quite a while after.
Somewhere along the way, it got difficult to get an appointment. Waiting a week to be seen for strep throat didn't really work for me. And then, instead of being able to see any available doctor, I had to start seeing a specific doctor, and if they were booked, or on vacation or just unavailable, I was even more out of luck.
Since I wasn't having luck getting appointments during their normal business hours, I started using the 'after hours' services. (Where oddly, I could see whatever doctor was available.)
The last time I tried that, I went into the building, and found a sign that said they weren't open that day because a doctor wasn't available. (Isn't that something to plan for?) Then, to add to the annoyance, the automatic doors in the airlock wouldn't let me out.
Turns out there's an unlighted button in their crypt-dark airlock that you have to push for the outer door to open.
edit:
I found out part of the reason there was no doctor there. From what I was told each doctor there for 'after hours' was expected by management to see 30 patients per 3hr shift. That's 6 minutes per patient, before subtracting time moving between rooms, filling out all that paperwork, and general workplace stuff. That must be exhausting. I wouldn't want to do that either.
