Dr. Clay Shearer is awesome! He's been my husband's and my Dr. for years!

They do not take Aetna insurance, I'm a previous patient here, had a mole removed but they still turned me away

jessica rogers

This place is terrible. They aren’t knowledgeable at all ,and very cocky and ignorant. The worst doctors office I’ve ever been to.

Brian Wylie

What a shame that the office staff is so terrible and lacking in any kind of empathy. Customer service is non-existent. Dr. Clay Shearer is decent, although he never measures or fully examines moles before frequently removing them, but his staff could care less if you're a patient and they never get back to you with test results. I have to call them after waiting for a month almost every time. I've been a patient for years. Never again.

2004 till today will find another doctor your staff wants to argue about billing my insurance checks to see if deductible is met wants me to pay hole amount for visit I have excellent insurance which I pay for now I’ll have to wait for a refund after they bill my insurance Theft is what it is insurance fraud

Horrible horrible horrible! I had a nasal cell removed which required stitches. It abscessed. I had no way of contacting the practice after hours or on the weekend. When I got in to see him his response was “I didn’t do this to you, you’re not getting more paid meds from me.” I wound up in the ER 2 times and having to see a different doctor to pack and unpack the wound that had to heal from the inside out due to the severe abscess.

Allison Hasenstab

The people who work with you are terrible terrible people. Purposely unhelpful

Kelli Patton

JUST NO.

During my recent visit I felt well taken care of and comfortable. The NP, Andrea took the time to answer all of my questions and concerns thoroughly.

Andrea and Lindsay are okay to see. The only time I've seen the doctor was on the initial visit, I'm sure the nurse practitioners aren't getting compensated very well for doing the doctor's job. As far as the front office staff, the blonde checkout clerk needs to go back to learn FIRST GRADE math. She takes the papers and says that I owe ninety seven fifty, but then said wait there is a balance of two fifty, so it's one twenty three. I proceed to write a check writing it out as $123.00. I said wait, what was the balance? She said two fifty. I said two DOLLARS and fifty cents? She said yeah. I asked, so how is the balance now one hundred twenty three dollars if it started out at Ninety seven dollars and fifty cents? She said no, it's one hundred twenty three, when you add it, it comes to one hundred twenty three cents. ?????? I asked, do you mean one hundred DOLLARS and twenty three cents? She looks at me and said yeah. I said when you say one hundred twenty three cents, that is one DOLLAR and twenty three cents, you are saying it incorrectly, you need to say one hundred DOLLARS and twenty three cents. She just looked at me like I was nuts. I should have just given her $1.23 and called it even.

Awful experience. I went in for an itcy skin rash. My appt. was with the nurse practitioner. I had to undress so she could see everywhere the rash was. My chest was covered. After she had me dis-robe and saw me completely naked she said she had no idea what it was because it was in random places. So she brings in Dr. Clay who does the same thing also seeing me naked. He trys to tell me it's either scabies or eczema even though it is not in the spots that scabies usually is. I tell him it's not eczema because it came on so suddenly and I have never had eczema. So he tells me to hold on. Then he comes back with Dr. Dad. Now all 3 of them are looking at me completely naked. I have never felt so violated in my entire life. For a place that says they specialize in skin rashes they don't know there ass from a hole in the ground! I will never go back there after the way they made me feel. And then to top it off I received 3 different phone calls in one day all giving me a different diagnosis. I am 35 years old and I have never felt so violated in my life. I was in tears by the time I got home. I also never received a proper diagnosis. However I did receive a call in regards to my bill which I am refusing to pay after how they made me feel and because I never received a diagnosis. When I explained to the women on the phone how I felt all she said was so r u paying or not? She didn't even care. I will never go back there again.

I have a skin issue that's not so common. After talking to literally 5 family doctors who said more or less that "it wasn't a big deal" and getting written off as whatever, I finally found a good family doctor who referred me to Dr. Clay Shearer. In contrast to the "don't worry about it attitude" I got from the other incompetent doctors, Dr. Shearer diagnosed my condition in literally 2 minutes if that. I had went through seven years of absolute misery and horrible pain before I could afford and find competent care. Since then, I have had zero issues with Dr. Shearer's office. The suggestions and medications prescribed by Dr. Shearer have almost totally changed my life. He has done a *FANTASTIC* job with helping me manage this incurable disease. I can't thank him enough, if my insurance wouldn't cover his office, I might well pay cash. It's not just about pain management, the 'regimen' I am on actually alleviates the biggest issues with my disease so that pain meds aren't needed most of the time. I would *HIGHLY* recommend Dr. Shearer as both a quite competent dermatologist, understanding, non-judgmental, and very personable fellow. But I agree with 'rsdata' - he is good, but also quick - don't expect a ton of happy chit-chat on the side, but a busy doctor is a good thing in my opinion.

Like Dr Clay. Fast efficient. Book an early appointment. The waiting room fills up fast.

Left me with large scars on both legs cut me 9 times was scheduled for 4more surgery cancelled because I went to UC derm UC told me no more surgery there are outher options pinpoint radiation or creams Then his office said i didn’t cancel apt. So charged me 50dollars fot each visit missed i paid because they tried to ruin my credit thinking it’s all about the money cancelled all appointments last times i was there leg surgery put me on crutches skin was so tight not good

Missy Sutton

I love that I can get in with in a few weeks or sooner! The front office and insurance department are always very helpful. The doctors have always taken great care of me and my family. If Dr. Shearer hadn't taken care of the skin cancer as early as he did, I would have a huge hole in my face! I feel more comfortable with a female, so I see Lindsay House now and she listens to my concerns and still is quick and thorough!

Worst most rude office ever

Kellee Miller

Staff and Dr. Shearer were thorough and friendly. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

You can have a full body check for $40 if covered by your insurer and the doctor will quickly identify any freckles or moles that are cancer or need to be removed - Even with removals it only takes a few minutes. Great staff, fast, skilled and professional. The team is kind and caring but know their business and move quickly so don't be put off by their fast pace. My husband simply doesn't go to doctors .. NEVER.. but I got him into this doctor and he goes ever 3 months to have "pre-cancerous" moles/spots removed and thank goodness we got him in there in the first place. I am sure his life was saved and we continue to get about 5 removed each visit until they stop finding what are called Squamous Cells - Highly recommended - Location right off of US 25 on Mt. Zion and right next to off/onramp to I75. Don't wait another day!

Jake Burns

Andrea is good but 1000 dollars for mine and my wife's exam... 140 for each mole (4x) 560.... Our insurance covers one preventative a year... Bill (which I had to ask for) had zero information on it... Just billing codes and a total number... When I asked for a copy the receptionist made it seem like it was uncommon to give patients bills... Run for the hills y'all

Demi Scales

If you have a sensitive matter, don't go here. You will be dismissed even though you have a ten (10) year diagnosis and they will bill you with hidden charges.

Jessica Kriger

I absolutely love Dr Clay. He is very knowledgeable about a lot of conditions. He and his staff have treated my whole family for a wide range of things.

Office staff is like being in an assembly line. Not friendly except for one. Very impersonal.

Don't see the Dad. He's a hack. I was seeing the NP and developed discoloration on my leg and ankles from medication. When she asked him in for an opinion regarding the spots on my leg he said the place on my leg needed to come off. I could tell she didn't agree but did it anyway. They sent me on my way with no instructions on how to care for the wound which was fairly deep. It has left a large, ugly, brown, discolored spot on my leg which always feels like a bruise and is tender to the touch. I wish I had never gone there.

A Thompson

Would give zero stars if I could.

I recently had 3 skin cancers removed from my back by Dr. Shearer. I cannot speak for his work only time will tell. His service was quick and efficient. My only complaint would be a comment he made. When I ask and showed concern about the cost of the procedure he said "maybe you should get a job". After 44 years of working based on advice from my doctors I recently filed for and received disability. I thought his comment was rude, unnecessary, underinformed, untimely, and unprofessional. So this is an update to my earlier review... I was told by Dr Shearer the procedure would run about 400 for each place for a total of $1200. So far my insurance has been billed over $3000. The first office call was $435. He billed $635 for each place and the biopsies totaled $1050. For a total of $3380. He may be a doctor but he is definitely not a mathematician.

Jessica Zski

My family has been seeing Dr Shearer for 3 generations. He's great. He has a great bedside manner and sense of humor. He's treated acne, skin tags, cancer, warts - really anything we've thought to bring to his attention. He's fantastic. His staff is an entirely different situation since they don't bother to answer the phones half the time and when they do pick up the phone they seem to forget they left you on hold.

Gary A. Fowler

It's really busy, I guess people are vain? I'm not sure why someone would go there, maybe to have possible skin cancer checked out.

Sarah Haupt

The nurse practitioner, Andrea, was professional and down-to-earth. She explained everything to me and made me feel comfortable. I was also in and out quickly!

I have seen Dr. Shearer for yearly skin checks for many years. Have had a few pre- cancer moles removed. Office staff was always pleasant during my appointments. In my opinion Dr. Clay Shearer is one of the best Dermatologists in Northern Ky.
