This review is about one doctor from the Mowery Clinic. The clinic itself was neat and tidy. The nurse and secretary Barb was professional and friendly. So, one star for cleanliness and one for professionalism.
I feel a good clinic gets there patients well and restores their quality of life. So, my review focuses on one doctor they employ, Dr. Jacob Hodges.
I would give him a zero rating. My suggestion is if you’re referred to Dr. Hodges request to go somewhere else. If you’re interested in high quality care, you won’t receive it from him, save your precious time by going to a doctor who will actually show they care.
Doctors are trained to treat the patient not just test results. Yet, he seemed more interested in disproving the positive test results that brought me into his office, in the first place. It seemed like he had an agenda to get another set of test results to match his belief system and his area of training and expertise. I didn’t get the impression he was truly interested in treating my symptoms and bring me relief from them.
My health and well being seemed the farthest thing from his mind. At one point during my visit, he rolled his eyes as I spoke about my illness and how it affected my life negatively. The rolling of the eyes spoke volumes to me. It said: I have little respect and lacked empathy for my patiences. I believe respect and empathy for your patience’s is a prerequisite for a good doctor.
I believe health is the truest form of wealth. He didn’t seem interested in helping me get my wealth/life back to where it was before my illness. I was an active go getter.
In my opinion, I feel his style of patience care is a Medical Doctor with an education in his mind, diploma on the wall and the MD after his name really stands for “Money Driven.” I feel a true MD is one who is “Morally Driven” and wants to honor his oath spoken in medical school.
So, for my own health and well being, I went to get a second opinion. I drove to see a doctor in Missouri. The doctor I saw there was like a breath of fresh air. Someone who truly cares about his patients. When I go to appointments, I bring my medical binder with me. Dr. Hodges didn’t even look at it when I brought it in. Yet, my second opinion doctor read the entire thing. I made a comment on how impressed I was that he would take the time to read the whole thing. I said: “You’re the first doctor who has read my entire binder.” His comment back to me was: “Hopefully, I’m the first doctor to get you well.
He immediately addressed my symptoms. He ran blood work addressing all the symptoms in my binder, no you don’t have a false positive. You tested with more positives than your last test. He ran even more tests to match my symptoms. He found 3 things Dr. Hodges missed, one being the beginning stages of heart disease. Thanks to my Missouri doctor, I’m feeling better already.
In summary, my opinion of Dr. Hodges isn’t very high. I feel he doesn’t match a true MD. I didn’t receive quality care for my symptoms and illnesses rather my time was wasted. When I could have been receiving better care somewhere else. I feel I received an uncaring and disinterested therapy session. In that session, I talked about my illness and it’s negative impact on my life and Dr. Hodges’ listened half-heartedly. He ran a test and took lots of blood but did nothing to help me improve my situation. He had nothing to lose by not helping me because his financial wallet would stay the same. We would receive a payment for my visit from the the insurance company no matter how the visit turn out.
