I have been going to Dr. Rupp for years after Dr. John Horton recommended him. My fair skin spent too much time in the sun and tanning booths. I am paying the price, but regular checkups have really helped. The front desk staff is so friendly and nice. They return calls and always try to help when a change is needed by me or the doctor. Love this place! I am retiring next year and am so glad I don't have to change doctors because of Medicare. It would be a huge loss! I highly recommend the Dermatology Specialists of Kansas City!

They are also normally able to get you in very fast. I called day of and they were able to schedule me in that afternoon. I definitely recommend this office!

Easily among the best dermatology clinics I have ever been to. Dr. Higgins was incredibly thorough, went through my entire history/previous attempts at solving my skin condition, and then offered me multiple options. He was very knowledgeable on everything I asked. A few things about his approach really stood out to me: 1) He sat down and talked to me for 15-20 minutes. As someone who has gone to many, many dermatologists over the years, this is pretty unusual. I was not rushed in the slightest. 2) He was very cost-conscious in his approach. He discussed treatments and consulted my insurance several times throughout the visit to make sure it was something that would be covered, or if an alternative was needed. I have never had a doctor do that for me in my entire life, and it was extremely appreciated. 3) He provided several treatment options, and then told me to call his office if something wasn't working and he would send out different prescriptions to try a new approach. There was zero up-selling on trying to get more appointments out of me in the future. Again, something most doctors do not do in my experience and it was greatly appreciated. Overall, I am very impressed with Dr. Higgins/his clinic and I will continue to get all of my care there in the future. I also found everyone at the clinic to be very kind/welcoming.

Not a good experience. We have switched to another provider for better consultation, communication and follow up. My recommendation is to make sure you do your own research on any medications prescribed- look for FDA warnings and drug manufacturer listed side effects so that you understand clearly and become your own advocate.

However, the woman who answered my call today seemed to be having a bad day! She seemed annoyed with any question I asked. Not very good customer service skills! Either the workplace is not conducive to good morale or she was just having a bad day, which should not be taken out on patients if that's the case! Shape up or you will lose patients!

My visit with the doctor and staff in person were actually good. It’s after the initial visit where things went down hill and frankly unprofessional. My billing detail was never explained, my basic procedure had to be redone, and after the amount billed was triple the amount of previous visits. I will be moving forward with a different dermatologist for all future needs.

I see Krishna Schmidt and I have now for a year and a bit - she came highly recommended to me. I absolutely love seeing Krishna and even though going to the office requires driving down 435, which is possibly the worst highway in the area, I do it because she is fantastic. She listens to everything that you have to say, she is responsive, she has recommendations and definitely takes the approach to dermatology and medicine that I like to see in a doctor. I can't speak to the other PA or the two doctors in the office, but Krishna is amazing and I'd recommend her to anyone looking for a dermatologist!

First negative review ever written for my first visit to this clinic. FIRST visit - I can't say more negative things about DR. ERIKA REID and that's so so sad for this being a Wellness Facility. Read the reviews of Dermatology Specialists, followed by information and reviews specifically for DR. ERIKA REID if you have an appointment scheduled or would like more information. I had an appointment back in June, in which Dr. Reid came into the room for approximately 5 min, & was COMPLETELY pretentious, spoke over me as I asked questions and prescribed medication that WASN'T COVERED BY MY INSURANCE after I specifically asked to make sure it was. It was truly clear that she didn't have regard for anything other than herself, and the money she was making from my appointment - which is even more true now. The prescription? Was ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR ROSACEA CREAM - in which I was offered a "coupon" from Erika, and Walgreens didn't accept it. (The cream was newer to the FDA, regardless this should have been explained in depth) I called immediately after my appointment to discuss with the Office Manager and a Triage nurse regarding my experience in which I was told that the appointment is at NO COST - and Erika Reid was "so sorry." I choose to not leave a review and just continue with my new doctor at another location. 3 MONTHS PASS and I am called by the business office, articulating I owe $100 dollars for my visit. They told me they said on the phone back in June I could get a 2nd appointment for no charge, but needed to pay for the first. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I am now playing back and forth regarding the bill, and the Office Manager is saying that "Dr. Reid is having you pay because technically she wrote a prescription." It is not about the money - its the principle AND TOTAL LACK OF PROFESSIONALISM. Erika's profile on the site reads: What is the best piece of advice you have ever received? In which she states: “The only way to do great work is to love what you do.” Some people become doctors to help people "do great work" and to "love what they do" - while others become doctors to screw people out of money, time, and energy. What a 3 month long joke. DO NOT GO HERE. Edit to Clinics Generic Response: We are currently in contact and a resolution has yet to be met from the Clinics end, which seems to be a reoccurring problem for the clinic.

RIDICULOUS CHARGES! A nurse spent LESS THAN 5 MINUTES COMBINED/TOTAL during 2 appointments, applying a liquid to my son's molloscum (using a bottle that is used by everyone there, it's not like they had to discard the medicine), and I was charged $400. Insurance does not cover treatment of "benign lesions". His condition isn't totally benign - it spreads like wildfire and leaves the skin scarred. He has had it for over 2 years with no improvement, we didn't want his sister to get it! I called to ask about a reduction in the price because, again, literally, the nurse was in the room for 2.5 minutes for each appointment. Nope, nothing. We were very happy with Dr. Creswell, but due to the exhorbitant pricing, we won't be returning to this clinic. FOLLOW UP - WE HAD A PAYMENT SCHEDULE WHICH WE ACTIVELY PAID ON, AND THEY STILL SENT US TO COLLECTIONS. NEVER, EVER RETURNING.

Beware - We brought our 10 year old daughter here to get a skin abnormality biopsied. The doctor only took half of it off leaving the other half. When I called to ask about it, they said that is standard practice for a biopsy. I personally have never had a doctor take half of a mole for a biopsy, nor have I ever known anyone to get half of a mole removed for testing purposes; they have always taken the entire thing. And I quote "It was not medically necessary to take the entire thing." Furthermore, after I called to speak with the nurse, she immediately called my daughter's pediatrician and told them I was irate and was yelling and screaming at her, which I most certainly was not. It was very unprofessional for her to call our pediatrician and speak poorly about me. After our conversation, I simply told her I was going to write this review because that's all I was left with. I would let people know that if they come here with a mole, they will get half of it removed. If you want the other half removed, you'll have to go through the process again and pay for the entire procedure yourself. Dermatology Specialists is not part of the BBB, so if you have an issue don't expect a resolution. I'm not a surgeon or a doctor, but this was my experience.

I met with Jennifer lee for facial redness and associated treatment. Ended up doing a vbeam session and I’m one day post treatment. All went well and her staff is great. I do have an issue with their payment policy though. I was forced to pay for the entire service two weeks in advance. I find this to be unprofessional and adds an air of ‘cheap’ to the services. Also, when does a person pay for a service in advance? Manicures, doctor appts, massages, etc. they really need to revisit this policy and although I was told they collect for ALL cosmetic services in advance, I highly doubt this. I think it reflects poorly on them and it made me question the legitimacy of the service, honestly. I went through with and am happy, but as a first time paitent, rubbed me the wrong way.

you are need a dermatologist, there is nowhere else to look! In winter of 2014 I started to notice a CRAZY looking rash under my arms, and ONLY under my arms. I just blew it off as dry skin and put lotion on, but still these small, round, red sometimes itchy spots just became ME! I would plan my outfits out theses irritable dry spots to hide them when they were bad or to comfort them when they were itchy. I finally went to my PCP about them in June 2015 they were not able to tell me anything because “it looks like eczema but it’s in the area of psoriasis” so I was referred to a dermatologist. Still was not able to get answers there, so at that point I GAVE UP. Until I met a random girl at a Halloween party in 2017 who talked me into going to her office(she is one of the amazing receptionist), I owe her my life at this point! Seriously, I went in for one appointment, Dr. Rupp looked at me and immediately told me what type of eczema it was and provided me with all the ointments and rules I needed! It was GONE within 2 weeks! Of course I have to still baby my skin to prevent the eczema from flaring up, but it was amazing to be able to wear tank tops this year! Since then I have gone back for checkups and I have always had the most friendly , understanding and knowledgable providers, and even the desk staff have the BEST attitudes!!! Honestly, was sad to hear I only need a check up annually.

I came to my appointment at the designated time on my reminder sheet and was told that my appointment had been canceled. This was not done by me and I felt that this was not believed by the office staff. I managed to get in to see the doctor anyway, but it was a very rushed experience that lasted for about 10 minutes with little communication involved. I started going here several years ago for a baseline skin check with Dr. Bussman. I continue to go for regular check ups and have had a few procedures: Mohs to remove a basal cell carcinoma, snipping a skin tag near my armpit, and removal of a mole on my jaw, all of which went off without a hitch and were done in a professional and skillful manner. Fail. No caring...just do you have insurance. That is it. Could not schedule appointment. Have insurance did not know the group ID and did not have on me. The absolutely rude scheduler said not insurance number no appointment...call back later and hung up! I know it is a business and they need to get paid, but to demand the insurance or another option prior to the appointment being set. Sorry but I will take my insurance elsewhere.

When I ask for a sample they said it was only for sale $65. Why do you advertise compliamentry and not have them availble. I have trouble with sun spots and would have love to try it.

First, let me say that the doctor I saw was amazing. Her bedside manner was so kind and she was so gentle. She deserves 10 stars. But, for office staff there, they are atrocious. First, the woman who wrote my time down for my suture removal, wrote the time down wrong on my appointment card. So, when I left work early to drive all the way there on a Friday...they were closed. Then, I had to wait to Monday to call about the mistake ON THEIR PART. The first rude person was Jennifer. When I tried to explain about my missed appointment, she was confused, because she was calling about the $50 co-pay that was not paid. Not paid? I made specific instructions with the woman taking down my information to run the card on 9/29. Today is the 10th of the NEXT MONTH and she wanted to know why the card was declined. Because I am on a very tight budget and thought the money was taken out on the 29th like the notes said in my file. This angered the woman and she became very snippy and rude. So, I mirrored back to her, her own tone. Those kind of people hate when you do that! What kind of people is that? The kind of people when the mistake is on their end...they get defensive and get an attitude with you. You all know that type! So then I was connected to rude woman #2, named Sue. When I attempted to explain again, she got just as rude. She told me that the issue must be that I didn't write in down correctly in my ledger. ARE YOU FRICKEN KIDDING ME?????? LEDGER?????? GET THIS ANCIENT DINOSAUR OUT OF THAT OFFICE AND IN TO RETIREMENT. Then, she made her last error. She called me Mrs. Now, I do not have a problem with marriage. I do not have a problem with divorce. I dont really care one way or the other. What I do have a problem with is that you have your patients spend how much time filling out countless forms for your office and they cannot even get my name correct? I checked the box correctly. That woman is old, outdated, ancient, and is going to offend someone else besides me. So I asked for a manager, or someone higher than her. Sue told me that there is no one higher than her. I said so you own Dermatologist Specialists? This crazy woman said yep I do! Are you kidding me? I have no problem in paying. That is not the issue. The issue is when the office did not run my card on the date we had agreed upon but decided to run it almost 2 weeks later...that is a problem. Then, when I tried to explain to the office why the issue occurred, they did not care. They were rude and did not want to hear about the issue with the mistake in my follow up appointment time, or the mistake in not running my card on a pre-agreed day, or that I still have stiches in me. They would just cut me off and say "when do you want us to run the card?" I give every body a fair try but come on. In order to get to a great doctor I have to go through these idiots who make mistake after mistake and then don't even want to hear anything I have to say? Looks like I will be cutting and removing my own stitches now. Thanks Dermatology Specialists owned by Sue. I will make sure that this review gets spread all over that crazy thing we call the internet.

This place is a puppy mill for patients. This is all about churning patients as fast as they can and getting those billable hours. And while this is not at all uncommon in the derm field these days, it is also disgusting. If you are going for a cosmetic issue (all they care about $$$$) then maybe this is fine but for medical run far and fast. Calling these people doctors is a stretch - the 21st century plastic surgeons. The front office staff is not helpful nor knowledgable. The business office is terrible. Nurses - nope. There are literally hundreds of options for dermatology. Choose another place

Have been here twice now, two different doctors. The second one was friendlier (gave me time to ask a couple of questions), but they both follow the business model many dermatology offices now use, of getting as many patients through here in the shortest amount of time. I imagine they take more time for those who have the costlier cosmetic procedures. No follow up or communication channels like "My Chart." This is a privately owned business.

It feels like a puppy mill for procedures instead of a doctor who cares--back to Dr. Charles Crutchfield I go!! I have been to Dermatology Specialists for mole removal, warts, acne, other skin issues (you name it!), sunscreen recommendations and even ear piercings! They have great doctors and a convenient, easy to find office location.

Went in for canker sores in 2015. Was told by Dr. "B" that "there was nothing he could do for me - I had stress." However, I paid a $90 copay for a prognosis of "stick it [the canker sores] out." Months later, [still with canker sores] I went to see a general practitioner, who prescribed a topical paste for my canker sores - the sores disappeared in just 2 days! I suffered for months based on Dr. B's prognosis of "tough it out." To add insult to injury, most recently, I tried to fill Dr. B's prescription for a different skin ailment. The pharmaceutical company had the ointment on backorder. When the order came in, the prescription refill came in 3 days later than the valid refill expiration date (prescribed by Dr. B in 2015). However, Dr. "B" would not approve the refill - saying "I had to be seen again." Why would one pay another $100+ copay for a doctor who did nothing for me the first time around? Dr. "B" would not trust the pharmacy even when they called asking for a couple more days to refill the prescription.

This place is known as the worst working staff around the area. If people come here to be seen is for them to be treated well and not to be treated rude. For as crappy as you day was, you don't have to take it out on someone else, Specially if you're working as a receptionist. YOU ARE THE ONE THAT REPRESENTS THE HOSPITAL/CLINIC/DERMATOLOGIST, (you name it) YOU NEED TO BE POLITE and KIND! If it was up to me, I would fire all the receptionist and get a new crew. Not happy with this office at all, went in for an appointment with the P.A. and he stated that I had a treatable nail condition and wrote me a prescription for Genadur. I called the office to ask for another option due the script not being covered by my insurance and costing $480 for a few ounces. Long story short his nurse or assistant called and said, “...the Genadur is the only treatment for nail detachment and he has nothing else to recommend...” Really? I’ve called several other dermatology offices and have found that he information I was given was totally false and that these offices get kick back from the pharmaceutical companies to push these types of prescriptions! Not cool!

So disappointing. I was on hold waiting to make an appt for my 2.5 year old whose eczema has flared uncontrollably - I was asked for my insurance card which was in my purse. I told the receptionist that I will grab it quickly and she said she was sorry that she couldn't wait and hung up the phone on me! That has never happened to me before...such customer service.

I have been going to Dermatology Specialists for a few years. I saw one of their doctors based on a recommendation from a friend. I'm in my 50's and had acne at that time. All that doctor did was prescribe a face wash and when that didn't work, didn't offer any other suggestions. Several months later, I found out another friend went to this practice but saw Dr. Cho. I made an appointment with Dr. Cho and have found success with treating my acne, which has gone away, thanks to her suggestions. She took the time to listen to all of my concerns and always spent plenty of time with me. I now go in for cosmetic appointments and am very pleased with the results.

They were in a rush. They ordered a test I didn't need and prescribed expensive medication without discussing it with me. They only want your money and do not care about your long term health. DO NOT USE THEM.

Amazing experience! I had an appointment scheduled for 10:00 I arrived at 9:45 to fill out the new patient paperwork as it was my first time being seen at Dermatologist Specialist with Dr. essica Healy. I was sitting in her office at 10:05 so I had absolutely no wait in the waiting room. She took her time and explained the process that I was being seen for and actually did an additional service that wasn't actually scheduled for so kudos to this office and kudos to Dr. Healy. Thank you so much you guys I would love to come back and have some more work done. The girls at the front desk were very professional and very kind I mean the whole experience was wonderful I don't know what else to say.

I drove 40 minutes out of my way for an appointment I had made a month prior with Dr. Dick. When I arrived the very unhelpful staff informed me my appointment had been cancelled WITHOUT telling me and Dr Dick could not see me. They wasted over an hour of my time as well as a vacation day from work. Don't waste your time going to this place. Every experience I have had with them has been HORRENDOUS! UPDATE: The Executive Director personally called me to discuss my concerns and offered to help remedy the situation. He was very helpful/apologetic and listened to my concerns in order to make sure they didn't happen again for another client. I am willing to give them another try as my friends have had positive experiences here.
