Everyone at Wolfe Eye Clinic was totally professional and took care of me in a timely manner from check -in to check-out. We were kept informed of each step in the process and the wait time was minimal. The laser surgery took only a couple of minutes and was totally successful. My vision is MUCH clearer.

My husband has been referred to the Wolfe Eye Clinic due to an escalated condition with his eye. We absolutely loved the staff and doctors we interacted with... HOWEVER, we are extremely frustrated by the amount of wait time for each appointment. It's an hour drive for us, we arrive at least 5-10 minutes before each scheduled appointment time, and have waited a minimum of 90 minutes at each appointment (and we've been seen 4 times in the last week) before being seen. This means we're required to take a half day off of work to primarily sit in the waiting room of the center. Extremely frustrating and disappointing.

Dr Steven Johnson is "the best of the best" IMO. After decades of check ups every 2 years, Dr Johnson finally said my cataracts were ready to remove. March/April 2018 = cataract surgery. Now I see so clearly that I don't need glasses >> not even reading glasses. And it's not just me >> it's several of my customers that Dr Johnson treated. Wolfe Clinic is the very best. I had 2 cataract surgeries. My doctor did one eye, then 2 weeks later did the other eye. I never had pain or discomfort and my eyes or both so much better after the surgeries. I have been ug Wolfe Clinic over twelve and in many of the Clinic's sites throughout Iowa. My appointment was in a newer location in Pleasant Hills with Dr Nelsen . The staff was helpful in making the time short . They were all pleasant and helpful. I saw my doctor after testing and photos. It was a short wait in Pleasant Hill location. He was comparing previous pictures to the new ones. He provided information and continued treatment. All of this being friendly and professional.

Got my LASIK surgery at Wolfe. I'm a designer by trade, so my eyes are very important to my livelihood. I won't pretend it wasn't a very intense 15 minute procedure, but it was handled professionally and adeptly by the staff and surgeon. Then it was about 3-4 hours of discomfort, and then I could see well enough to go to work if I really needed to (very strongly discouraged). I can throw my glasses and contacts in the trash. It's incredible. The clinic was very attentive and helpful in the preliminary appointments and even checked in a few times leading up to surgery day. I can only assume the negative reviews are from people who missed the multiple times the clinic tells you what to do, who to talk to, how to prep, etc... Mine was the first surgery performed in their new surgical center, so I don't really know what the old facility looked like, but this one was brand new, shiny and clean. I'd trust these people with my eyes again if I needed to.

The surgery is invasive and I was hoping I would be out during surgery. I remained awake during the procedure and found l was quite comfortable during the procedure. The surgery itself was fast, quick and painless. Only real uncomfortableness was after the numbing drops wear off. It’s really uncomfortable for a couple hours but the goal is to sleep it off. Woke up seeing and then next morning had 20/20 at my follow up appointment. I’m almost 30 days out and no complaints. Things are lots brighter and it’s the best investment I’ve made. Highly recommend!

The whole process of cataract surgery, from initial examination to post-surgery, was very efficient, and all of the various nurses and the anesthetist were really friendly, upbeat, and skilled. The doctor is quite brisk, and if you're a slow decision-maker or process things slowly, it can be a little overwhelming. So it's good to have a second person to listen and take notes and ask questions.

Very professional, performed several tests. Appointment was scheduled to take 3 hours and they were correct. You do have to do a lot of waiting. Wait for 30 to 40 minutes then, go back for an exam, then wait in another waiting room then another test, then wait, then another test, then wait, then another test, then wait, then you get to visit with the doctor and he explains what they have determined and your best options. I will return to Wolfe Eye Clinic when I require eye surgery.

I will return to Wolfe Eye Clinic when I require eye surgery.

Visit went ok except the wait time was ridiculously long. I was there for three hours to get the same results my regular might have gotten in one. Additionally, they had dialated me and hadn’t told me to bring a driver (I had thankfully) and didn’t offer sunglasses for the blinding sun outside. And then afterward I read my records which were sent back to my eye doctor and discovered that they documented conversations which hadn’t happened including telling me about two eye conditions which I apparently have but they didn’t even mention. They claimed in the file that they had discussed this with me at length. When I complained someone called me, she actually suggested that maybe I had forgotten what was said. I hadn’t. Neither had my optician spouse who was with me. They said someone was going to call me back to discuss the conditions. This never happened. You won’t know that they do this routinely until you actually see what was written and realize that they falsified your records.

Dr. Davison suggested an adjustment, so I went in for a repeat about a year after my initial procedure. This was included in the price of my first procedure. Nothing extra. The vision test and photo were good. The staff was friendly and considerate but the assistant that put a numbing shot in the eye made 2 attempts and then called another person in to try a third time. As usual the disinfectant drops of betadyne were painfull and even though this was rinsed out my eye watered and hurt until the next day. The technique used by one doctor of using a que tip with this disinfectant is not as painful and is resolved quickly. I will continue with this doctor as much as possible.

I am giving my experience two stars because of the surgeon, not because of the nurses. After my cataract surgery, I had an anomaly in my eye. I told the surgeon. He told me to hold off and he would take a look at it after I had my other cataract surgery. While in the recovery room, I ask him to look at it. He said that he didn't know what it was. I was a bit befuddled. He's a surgeon right? Then he blurted out that it must be "herpes." I was like herpes? He repeated it again. How embarrassing, I thought. (Later, I did research and found out that it's a different strain. How the heck was I to know? He didn't explain that to me.) Then he said he wasn't sure. I said, "Well, I can see it." He replied and then literally lunged at me, "No you can't. It's in the white of your eye!" So, I decided to ask him whether I should come back. He said give it a couple of weeks. The doctor is Dr. Johnson, by the way. Also, as I talk with others who have had cataract surgery, I wonder why I wasn't given the option of choosing my lens. I am satisfied with the results, but I wonder whether I should have been informed better.

Make sure to have 2 to 3 hours free for an appointment. (The doctor let me know that the front desk was supposed to tell me this when I scheduled. They did not.) Make sure you ASK the front desk for shades after they dilate your eyes, because the tec will not give them to you, or tell you where they're at. No, they will instead send you out to their window filled waitingroom to absorb the light for over an hour. You might get a huge headache from this. Make sure you ask tons and tons of questions, because they are bad at communication. First you might see an unnamed doctor that you were unaware you would see. If you choose to complain to this doctor, he will leave you in the room for 15 minutes, alone. I suggest you take this opportunity to read your records left open, because the paragraph about me was the opposite of what I had said. When the actual doctor comes in, he may be upset that you're upset-- because he has emergencies. When you explain to the doctor that all you are asking for is communication he will agree that's not too much to ask, BUT then let you know that because of your emotional state he won't be doing the surgery on you today. Here's the kicker-- You're there alone, you drove there, because NO ONE TOLD YOU YOU WERE COMING IN FOR SURGERY. Then, when you go to reschedule at the front desk, the receptionist will give you a pair of shades and explain how to place them behind your glasses, like you're four. You MIGHT leave frustrated and feeling extremely disrespected. I would recommend them to no one.

My most recent visit at the West DM office was excellent in all aspects except with the final meeting with the scheduling associate. This person went through the schedule and patient requirements very quickly. To the extent that when my husband and I left, we expressed our mutual concern to each other and hoped when we read the information, we would have a better understanding of what was required of us. This person was not personal at all and left us with a feeling that we quickly dropped to a numbers rather than a patient. Too bad one person in this capacity can sour an otherwise satisfying experience.
