I have been unable to get someone to return my phone calls from the Urology Dept regarding tests and reports they ordered. I personally dropped off results they claimed they never received from the provider that I was able to obtain on line. After several attempts to get a response I went into my regular Dr. who was able to refer me to the Urology Center where the previous Doctors that left Iowa Clinic have now reestablished their practice and was able to schedule an appointment immediately.

I absolutely LOVE Dr. Reyes!!! But the lady that makes his appointments is a horrible horrible woman! She is mean and will definitely not try to help accommodate schedules at all. I am disappointed in the urology department at the Iowa Clinic in West Des Moines. Me and my pharmacist both reached out to them for a prescription refill Thursday morning. When Friday mid morning rolled around with no response from them I decided to give them call directly. I spoke with a very nice gentleman from the urology department who assured me that the doctor was in and will get my script called in today. I called my pharmacist after work and they said the urologist never called in the refill. Now it’s too late and nothing I can do about it. My prescription needs to be taken Saturday and now I’m screwed until next week. I can’t believe after both me and my pharmacist reached out multiple times that they still ended up blowing me off. Completely unorganized and unprofessional.

I recently had to see a urologist for a serious medical emergency. I was nervous and extremely anxious about the whole procedure. I was appointed to see Dr. Wild. Dr. Wild and The Iowa Clinic in West Des Moines staff in general (from the nurses to the front office) couldn’t have done a better job at making me feel comfortable and at ease. Everyone seemed very concerned but also very professional. There were a myriad of tests and scans I needed to have done and they made sure to get all of it done in a very swift and expedited manner. I was then scheduled for immediate surgery by Dr. Wild who did an absolutely phenomenal job. I would recommend him to anyone and though I hope to never have surgery again, if I were I would hope Dr. Wild would be the man performing it.

However this particular nurse went to the front desk and proceed to talk about how rude and what a "@$$hole" he was and repeated it multiple times. I found this incredibly unprofessional and a little uncomfortable to say the least.

I have several health issues going on at the same time. I have been seen here for knee replacement, arthritis in my shoulder, pulmonary issues, herniated disc issues... NEVER had a bad experience. These doctors are top notch and the staff has ALWAYS been very courteous, Two thumbs up from from this guy.

I had a hydro-facial treatment done at Iowa Clinic Plastic Surgery and I absolutely loved it. The staff was friendly and Jinah, my esthetician, did a great job explaining each step. The hydro-facial is my new favorite facial treatment. My face feels so clean and and moisturized. There was no pain or any drying out issues. My face feels fresh, firm and is glowing! I can’t wait for my next one!

I was given very basic service, sent to x-ray, and told I would be called the same day with the results. The PA never called. I was charged 2 copays, one for seeing the PA and one for the x-rays she ordered. This is after having an ultrasound. I was given a prescription that might be needed depending on the x-ray results but do not know if I should start taking them as I never received the phone call. This was on a Friday so there will be no follow up until Monday. Very disappointed in the care I received.

Went to this clinic on Tuesday March 26 for arm and leg numbness on my right side. Was greeted by a kind lady at desk who said she’d have a nurse take me back to access whether I was in the right place for the symptoms I was experiencing. She asked me a few medical questions then proceeded to scold me thru her mask she was wearing for coming to the clinic, they don’t have my records, they would have to completely start over with my medical history and they r not designed for that! Why didn’t I call my Dr? I told her they were near closing so I thought this is what I should do. Again goes thru the whole “we can’t treat you for this, we have no info on you and she was going to call my Dr office to see what they should do with me! We only treat colds, flu etc. not this kind of problem. My Dr sent me to emergency room. No concern or kindness only that I had come to the wrong place. THIS kind of treatment is why people don’t seek medical help. I understand completely they were not equipped to handle my symptoms, but no need to shame me for taking MAYBE10 mins.of her time. I apologized profusely for making this mistake. Her response was “oh no no problem” REALLY!! Her actions could have fooled me. I would drive the extra distance to be seen at any other clinic. Unsatisfactory and unprofessional.

As with all large companies The Iowa Clinic is starting to loose site of concern for the Patient Each and every patient is different as is their medical issues Therefore all should not be treated with strait forward textbook answers Doctors involved in a patients care really need to take the time to know and understand their patients circumstances. Patients also need to be let known and be made to feel that they can address concerns with the Dr and not the Dr simply relaying messages AGAIN DR PATIENT RELATIONSHIPS ARE VERY IMPORTANT and far to much of the medical industry is getting away from this PATIENTS ASK QUESTIONS SPEAK UP REMEMBER THE DR s. I’ve been a patient with Iowa Clinic for eight years. My PCP Dr. Sean Cunningham is awesome. Dr. Hawk at West Des Moines Urgent Care is a Rockstar. That’s where the compliments stop. I’m diabetic and Iowa Clinic no longer has an Endocronologist. They haven’t had one in at least six years since they got rid of Dr. Guerrero. I also suffer with chronic pain and was a regular at Pain Management. They got rid of that doctor as well. Now it’s a revolving door for doctors in the Pain Management Clinic. Finally, I recently, was scheduled to have a CT Scan with contrast. I was told to check in at 2:30. When I check in, I’m told that I can’t be seen because I was suppose to be there at 1:00 to start drinking the contrast. No one told me that. I have been fasting since midnight. I called the administrator’s office to complain and see if they could have the radiologist stay to complete my scan. I was told that an administrator would call me back. That was Thursday afternoon. It is now Friday evening and no one has called me. I was able to get the CT scan at Mercy West Lakes. Mercy faxed the results to the GI department at 8:00am Friday morning. No one from Iowa Clinic contacted me with the results. I had an abdominal aortic aneurysm scan Thursday morning as well. Again, it’s Friday evening and I still have not received those results.

Why would the Imaging Dept at the West Des Moines Campus tell the check-out receptionist in Urology that they were booked-up for the day at 10:30 in the morning. This forced my wife and I to go home, then drive downtown to Methodist Hospital for a 1:30 appointment and an imaging scan that took a total of five minutes to perform? After driving downtown and finding a parking spot, it took me longer to actually check-in at the downtown imaging department than it did for the entire procedure itself. The staff in the Imaging Dept. at the West Des Moines Campus could not have worked in a five-minute scan during the remainder of their morning? Or... even the early afternoon?

Although I had a wonderful experience in the 3 years I went to the Ankeny clinic, I like the WDM-West Lakes' Drs & staff even more! Dr. Lena Rydberg, Dr. Linda Bratkiewicz, Dr. Thomas Hansen, CNP Karla Stapes, Dr. Joe Hawk & the great UC staff, the Lab Dept., Radiology, PT...ALL of them have been professional & caring! I'm probably one of the worst patients, too! But ICWDMC is an awesome place for caring people and up to date tech. I cannot imagine anyone truly having a problem with this clinic! Thank you all for everything you have done, for the entire community, and your continued support!!!

I had to go to urgent care because my family doctor was out for vacation, and what a terrible and frustrating experience I had. The wait was long, but it was busy. The nurse seemed annoyed and unwelcoming. She did her assessment and wanted to do a test I didn’t feel necessary. The nurse practitioner was in my room for no more than two minutes, did a poor assessment, said here’s a script feel better. I wasn’t able to ask any questions or even ask for at least a lab draw to make sure everything was normal. That’s poor medical practice.

Dr.Mohr - He has been my lung doctor since 2015. He has always been very polite and knowledgeable. I went in for my breathing test today and yearly exam and he was nice as always with no issues. Dr.Snyder - This was my first year having her as my OBGYN. I have to say I really liked her. She explained everything she was doing and also listened to my concerns and looked at the paper since I was a new patient. I was really happy with my experience. Dr.Dakovich - She is a fantastic GI doctor. She is smart and knows what she is doing and talking about. She has done both of my endoscopies and my colonoscopy and she does well when it comes to to treating my other GI issues. I would highly recommend her. Dr.Massop - I saw him a few years back to have an EVLT done on both legs. He was very professional and did a great job. Dr.Barp - He is the best Podiatrist this Clinic has. He is always very welcoming. He always goes back and looks at old X-rays since he did both of my foot surgeries. He also removed a wart. He is a pleasant doctor. I highly recommend any of these doctors!

The worst clinic I have been dealing with. I would rate negative if there is a negative. I started trying to get an appointment with them 2 weeks ago and told them I am expecting triplets. And they asked me to get my clinic (which is an ivf clinic) to fax them the records. And I did. First fax they told me they didn’t receive it. Second one they said they didn’t receive it. I said I don’t understand. They checked again.. they got it. Later on they called me saying they didn’t see the prenatal report?! I said that is all they have. And then someone said they would ask the manager about it. The next day they told me they don’t deal with triplets pregnancy!!!!!!!!! They wasted my time for 2 weeks without any apology! Want an OB who treat you with a little respect? Don’t go to this place!

My wife had an MRI recently and the staff was great. A lady at the desk, Brenda let us in early as the appointment was at 7:00. After she took our information, she told us that things would be running a little late because of the weather and a technician was out sick. My wife got in about 5 minutes late. While we were there a gentlemen came over and was unhappy about having to wait, as he was seeing other people that had arrived after him going back. Brenda handled it very professionally and explained that there are many procedures that occur there and that he would be taken back as soon as possible. Hats off to the selfless folks behind the counter that take the brunt of peoples fears and frustrations and handle them with poise and caring.

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Hawk(e) with Urgent Care at Iowa Clinic Westlakes! I saw him on March 28th, 2018 and I feel very blessed and fortunate that he was working that day. He was on the case from the start and wasn't going to let me leave until he figured out what was going on with me and for that, I'm so glad. If I could give him 10 stars, I most definitely would. He has been a great patient advocate on my behalf and I'll be forever grateful!

I have a neuroma in my right foot that needs to be surgically removed. I saw Dr. Eric Temple and he said he could treat it without surgery. After going on medication and getting several steroid shots with no relief in sight, I asked to see another doctor. Nope. They just wrote me a snotty letter telling me I can never come back to the foot and ankle clinic. They got their wish. I won't go back to The Iowa Clinic to see any doctor for any reason. They don't want to provide cures. They just want long-term customers. I would give them no stars if I could.

Pros: Friendly receptionists, nice nurse and polite doctor, clean facility. Unfortunately that is where the good ends. Saw Dr.Liudahl, an E.N.T doctor for nasal polyps - as diagnosed by one of their doctors at the Johnston clinic. Firstly when they checked my BP it was high - not surprising as I was feeling pretty anxious because I was expecting surgery. Still, on their records on the followmyhealth site it shows my BP was normal...so not the greatest at recording accurate information for patients to look back on. Anyways - the doctor proceeded to do a nasal endoscopy and to my surprise told me that I did NOT have nasal polyps, rather my turbinates were just swollen. OK - good news, but what caused my turbinates to swell and to REMAIN swollen for 5 months now? Well she gave me general answers, like a google search engine could. Zero attempt was made to find out the cause, no questions about my prior health, didn't feel like she actually listened to me at all, like instead of actually hearing me she was preparing in her head what she was going to tell me next to get me out of the exam room quicker. I mentioned my throat has also been unusually red/inflamed something I noticed at the same time - well apparently because it was my 1st time seeing her, she couldn't tell me whether that was unusual for my throat or not...Anyways 5 months and over $700 later I have gotten 1 cold/flu (after zero sicknesses in YEARS) turbinates still swollen, experiencing headaches more than ever before (several times a week), constant runny nose especially when I bend my head, throat still inflamed with flesh/yellow colored raised bumps...thanks for nothing.

I would say that my experiences with the Iowa Clinic are the worst I've ever had when dealing with a medical provider. I really think there is some sort of kickback scheme going on. They identify well off people they think can pay and then deliberately rig the insurance paperwork so it will be denied by the insurance company, they then refuse to fix any errors and pressure the victim into paying. And then as a reward, they get a kickback from the insurance company. Been going on for months and worse experience ever !!! Never would have believed that a complaining customer would be accused of trying to commit insurance fraud because they wanted them to correct a mistake THEY MADE. Its surreal that they actually expected me to pay thousands out of pocket for a procedure fully covered by insurance ... when THEY screwed up the paperwork. Or maybe they did it deliberately ? I am writing this to warn others about the criminals at the Iowa Clinic ... they are out to rip you off. I would recommend just going somewhere else and avoid them ! Not worth the hassle and expense. And, no, I will not be paying these criminals 1 dime. Fix it, resubmit the paperwork and it all goes away. Instead ... they'd rather ruin my life ... why ????

I have been visiting this clinic (pulmonary) since being diagnosed with Sarcoidosis of the lungs in 2008. I live 90 minutes away and have never had any problems with scheduling, nor any internal timing conflicts once checking in. I have came here deliberately because I like the staff, and my specialist(s), couldn't think of any other place I'd rather have looking after my health.

I was seeing Dr Lena Rydberg and without warning or concern I was told at my appointment that she could no longer be my doctor. When I asked why she stammered then gave me a reason if which I questioned and then I was given another reason. She did not take into account any other issues or conditions I had. When a "patient advocate" connected me about being termintated I was told yet another reason why . They can't even get their stories or lies straight!! I have been "black balled" from ALL internal medicine doctors within Iowa Clinic. I thought doctors took an oath to help people not lie and termintate patients. NEVER going to recommend this entire clinic.

I have been going to the Iowa Clinic for over a year now. I have had ups and downs with my acne and decided to take action and see what I could do to help my skin without going on medications. Jinah provides an excellent service for skin care, guidance, tips, maintenance, and allows you to fully relax for 45-1hr while she takes care of your skin. I highly recommend the microdermabrasion, my pores always feel so clean after, as well as the nano laser peel, LOVE how my skin feels after- it peels for 2-3 days and rids of the old skin while repairing and tightening up whats underneath. Get on over and see these girls at the clinic!!

My Wife Came home CRYING after being scolded by the doctor. She rarely has complaints about anything or anyone, but her experience at this Iowa Clinic was nothing less than horrible. Will NOT be going back for sure. This was in the Podiatrists dept and the doctor is a woman. The Iowa Clinic has some great doctors, but this doctor is just plain rude and obnoxious. I seldom write a review, let alone a one star, but people be warned before heading into the podiatry dept at this clinic.

We made an appointment for a Friday it got canceled. I.called and made it for Monday. Saturday I got a text message saying the rescheduled my appointment for Tuesday. When I got to the appointment on Tuesday I checked in did all the paper work and waited for 35 minutes. After waiting for over half an hour they called me up to the desk saying that the doctor doesn't have time to take me now so we need to reschedule again. I was waiting for this appointment for over 2 months.

my mom went there for hearing screen she's always had a severe hearing loss since birth but now she's in her late 50s is getting worse my mom came back crying because she said the doctors were yelling at her telling her that she can hear the words telling her to make up what she believed the words sounded like during her hearing screen and when she said that she couldn't make up the words in that she couldn't hear them they were yelling her and telling her that she's lying trying to force her to say that she heard something. she reported that the nurse was very rude the other doctors were very rude when they came in she said she had the most worst horrible experience ever life. these people need to be stopped with treating people rude and inhumane
