As you know, we don't usually stop to put tatings when they are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Doctor is included in the category of Pediatrician.
Definetly pleased! I have 3 kids all see Dr Hensley and i couldnt be happier. She tells it like it is; can be strict but is very loving in the same moment.
Not a nice place, especially for kids. No books, no toys, no fish, not that clean, nothing on walls thats interesting to kids. Plus, we asked about a diaper rash, and after saying we didn't want the prescription (over the counter is fine), the doctor continued to write it. Turns out that the prescription cost 100$ to write (100$/1min = 6000$/hr!!!). Plus, the insurance doesn't cover it as preventative, and we hadn't met our deductible yet... we got screwed by this price gouging doctor. Beware!
Great Dr! Thorough and understanding as to your wants for your child. Never difficult to get my 3 kiddos in for an appointment and the staff is all wonderful ☺
Dr Hensley always addresses any problems thoroughly and you can tell she cares about her patients. They play Disney movies on a tv for the kids to watch, but I haven't had to wait that long for my kids to be seen. We have been going here since 2008 with no problems and they have a friendly staff.
We have had one bad experience after another with Dr. Cox. The first problem was when our four year old son had a fever, dry cough, and fatigue for 5 days. Our concern was pneumonia, but the Dr. said it was just a virus and sent us home. We of course ended up in the ER because it was in fact, pneumonia. Even still, we gave him the benefit of the doubt, thinking it could've developed after he saw him. Shortly after our 5 month old daughter got extremely ill and we brought her to him again concerned it was the same thing, and again told it was a virus. She was getting worse by the day with no improvement, having trouble breathing and he showed no concern and gave us no answers. We again ended up in the ER where we were finally told she had RSV. Although he wasn't wrong about it being a virus, it would've been helpful to know it was RSV so that we would've known what to expect. And then most recently, our now five year old son once again had a fever and dry cough, we waited a few days to take him in and by that time our one year old daughter was sick as well. We were worried about it being the flu or pneumonia. Once again, said it was just a virus and to wait it out. No flu swab. No x-rays. I was unable to make it to that appointment so later I had called to ask why they didn't test for the flu, considering it was flu season and my husband had informed them they had both been recently exposed to it. The nurse told me that even if they had the flu, they wouldn't give them tamiflu anyway because it only helps by a day. I took my son to immediate care the next morning because his cough was so bad he could barely breathe and guess what? Pneumonia. I had to schedule a follow up appointment with Dr. Cox and brought my daughter in also because she still wasn't any better (4 days later) and THEN he swabs her, which immediately showed positive for the flu and THEN prescribed tamiflu (which works best in the first 24-48 hours of symptoms), rather than having done it the first time I brought them in, four days earlier. To top it off, while he was examining her ears he said he couldn't see in one of her ears due to wax build up so he tried to scrape some out (unsuccessfully) and hurting my baby girl the whole time and cutting her before he gave up. I should note that aside from these mistakes, what is most disturbing to me is his total lack of concern, enthusiasm, and care. Each time we had brought our children to him with a serious illness (that he did not diagnose) he told us that symptoms could last several weeks and to just wait it out. While I'm not naive to a lingering cough from a cold; a fever, loss of appetite, and fatigue for a month in young healthy children is NOT normal! Most doctors ask that you follow up in a few days if they haven't shown improvement. Not to wait a month! It felt as if he barely examined them, was eager to diagnose it as a virus, get us out of there and not have us bother him with our children's health again. We previously saw Dr. Venturini and absolutely loved her, but unfortunately she left the practice so we tried to give Dr. Cox a chance and after this last experience, I honestly think children are not safe under his care. I am not an overly paranoid parent that takes my kids to the doctor every time they get a fever, only when it's accompanied by other concerning symptoms or has lasted a long time, but other than that I am pretty laid back. So for me to be this disturbed and angry over a pediatrician, should be taken seriously. PLEASE do not take your children to see him. I truly believe he is not fit to be a pediatrician and children are not safe under his medical care.
Dr. Hensley has been our tween son's physician since since he was born, and now she is our toddlers doctor. Always looks out for the well being of her patient first and the staff always tries to get the kids in to be seen ASAP (and is understanding when I freak out, as a parent).
I can not say enough about Dr Hensley and her staff. Charlotte ,vickie ,carol are all great. Dr Hensley is a wonderful dr. She address each of my concerns head on. When my two toddlers were sick her and her staff stayed late to keep us in the office with IVs just to keep us from a hospital stay. She's always available. Her staff has taken my toddlers up front and colored pictures with them so dr Hensley my teen and myself could talk . I drive from camby just to keep my kids in her care!
Not kid friendly.
We just moved here and my son has been seeing a pediatrician here for almost a year. Recently he was in the emergency room twice and then diagnosed with asthma. Shortly after he was back in the emergency room and diagnosed with pneumonia. He is 4. The emergency room gave him antibiotics and sent us home. He was fine for a few days and then all of a sudden he got worse again. He had a follow up appointment the next day and for some reason his insurance had an issue. They refused to see my son without money. We had even called the insurance and they reassured us that they would ba CV k date it and it was an error and we just needed some paperwork. We had no money in our bank account at the time as my husbands job has been sending people home due to lack of work. My son was sick with pneumonia and has asthma and they absolutely refused to even see him. I dont know what kind of place they are trying to run but it is not one that cares about your children. Because if god forbid something terrible happens then they wont do a single thing for you. I'm so very disappointed in our experience here. Luckily my son is doing much better and we found a pediatrician who took him in right away regardless of our other circumstances. If it was any other circumstance I would have understood. But my 4 year old with pneumonia was turned away. What a scary experience.
Dr. Eric Cox didn't try to connect with my children or even smile. He was more worried about billing than the reason for out visit. Find someone that loves children. I wont be returning.
We have been with Dr Hensley for 12 years now. She sees all 3 of my children. We love how up front she is and the staff is very friendly. Never have a complaint.
My sister takes my nephews here and they are horrible. My sister was concerned about one of her sons and ask his Doctor for a referral to see a specialist and her Doc told her they don’t like to send unnecessary referrals. Then the Doctor himself seems a little slow or off. She thought about just switching Doctors still in the same facility, but didn’t have a good feeling about the others.Since then we have been looking for her boys a different place and a more concerned/ caring Doctor and we just found a new one today. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this office especially if your child has health issues. Don’t stop here keep looking you’ll thank me later.
There was a balance due and they refused to see my Granddaughter until it was paid. My Granddaughter wasn't breathing well....had to eventually be rushed to the ER. Will NEVER return or recommend. Staff is rude and very uncaring.
