I saw the 2 star rating on Google before visiting Dr. LaKimberly but I did not heed as I should have. I really wanted to like her, and have a doctor that understood skin pigments from a personal perspective. I'll mention the good first, there is minimal wait time when you arrive for appointments, and she is very professional in the initial appointment. However, I believe after your first visit they must store your number as "do not answer". I called 4x in 1 day and left 3 messages in a 2 week period to reschedule my appointment, and never received a return phone call. You pretty much have to go into the office for scheduling. Then, for follow-up visits you see an assistant, but are billed as if you've seen the doctor. Regular patients also seem to get low priority in scheduling. When I was sitting in the waiting room, I overheard reception rescheduling an appointment and she said the first available date was 2 months out. Then 5 minutes later when a new patient came in the office to schedule a 1st time visit they scheduled her for the following week. How bizarre. If you only need to see the dermatologist once, this will work, but for long-term care seek elsewhere.

I am a long time patient of Dr. Coates. She is friendly with a positive disposition. Always explains info and makes me feel comfortable while asking questions. I have had several moles, warts, and tags removed through the years and never had an unpleasant experience. I tend to keloid scar and she has been able to control that as well. The only negative I have ever experienced is the long wait time. But, with her new office location and updated staff, I hope to see it improve.

On my visit Doctor Coates said to me a rule “One thing at a time” that applies to treatments and tests as the rule dictated to them by insurance companies. I have verified it with my insurance (United Health Care) as received the answer that there is not such a rule in their policy. I followed up on it with Doctor Coates office. The reception person responded (after putting me on hold and verifying what she supposed to say) that this is “Their office rule”. So, why was it presented by Doctor Coates as insurance rule at my office visit? When you visit a dermatologist it makes a huge difference in dollars if you take care of multiple spots or just one spot during the visit. I have cancelled my next appointment and I am not returning to this office. Just a bad experience. They should be upfront with the patients about their office policies.

I have had a great experience with Dr Coates. Even while traveling, she was able to send me a prescription. Her care and concern for not my needs and that of my daughter were appreciated. She is honest and clear with her instructions and expectations. I would highly recommend her.

I came in to Lakimerly Coates for acne and she gave me a prescription for Accutane. I went to the pharmacy to find out my insurance did not cover this. I called the office to explain this to the doctor and ask for a different treatment. Dr. Coates refused to speak with me on the phone and had her receptionist tell me to come in to the office for an appointment. I scheduled the appointment, waited 45 minutes, got to the examination room, where after Dr. Coates came in she said "Oh, I've never heard of insurance not covering Accutane; just go back and try again." She then left the room and they charged me for a visit; which I tried to call about and work something out. They declined my call and I let them know that I would not be paying for a medical examination that didn't occur. At the end of the day, they sent this to collections and it has been a headache for me ever since. BEWARE of this woman and her practices; I received the worst service and was treated like scum by Dr. Coates and her office. I recommend you find 1 of the other 500 dermatologists in the area - they cannot be as bad as her.

I had an appointment and waited an hour just to see her and by then they still wanted me to wait to see her, I won't be going back. They have poor business practices!!!

Booked an apointment a month a head of time which was their first opening. Got there early, filled out paperwork and still was waiting one hour past my apointment time with a relatively empty waiting room and no reasoning was given for the wait. Did not even get seen, had to leave for other commitments. Would not recommend with that kind of service.

Avoid this place. My daughter had 4 appointments here for a procedure. I got off work and took her out of school for each one. 2 of the appointments we waited 20 minutes in the lobby and another 20 in the room. The other 2 times over an hour in the lobby! The doctor is nice and friendly but a horribly ran office. Never received a bill from them until 8 months later, which was marked 10 day notice till collections. Called the office over and over, a week later I finally heard from them. Would only offer me to pay the bill over 4 months! I'm a single mom and this would be a huge 4 month payment. Guess it will go to collections and ruin my perfect credit. Also called my insurance company because the charges on the bill did not match what they billed my insurance. Save yourself time and go somewhere else.

Definitely recommend. Very professional

callMe Kika

She's very friendly and professional and makes us feel value every time we go there BUT she has very bad staffing and schedule. It is practically IMPOSSIBLE to get then over the phone and whether or not you leave two of three or four voicemails with Urgent status, NO ONE will give you a call back. That's INSANE. also when you finally reach them after hours and hours and easy of calling and you make an appointment, wetter you come early or right on time you will still have to wait an extra hour or two before they see you. I can wait to find another Dermatologist for my daughter. Smh when you go there the receptionist is always at the desk but when you call no one answers. Bad customer service.
