Dr. Duke is fabulous. I love this place. Long wait time to see the provider but I don't care because I know the service I get is always great. Very friendly nurses also. The front staff is very nice and makes your experience a good one.

They found in my annual checkup that my left eye had developed wet macular and I had to have an injection in that eye. Dr Blizzard and the girls who prepared me for it were super. They explained each step beforehand. I highly recommend the No. Idaho Eye Institute where I have been seen last 14 years !!!

Completely idiotic billing staff, I offered my information And a payment and they didn't TAKE it!! Now in collections because they didn't update my address from 2 years ago!! No one lives there now!!!! So it's my fault because I got an explanation of benefits?? I didn't because the medical side of my insurance company didn't update my address Either!! Not one phone call when I have the same cell phone as I've had for 2 years!!! Terrible experience with Billing but the doctor and nursing staff are wonderful!!

BE CAREFUL WHEN DEALING WITH THIS BUNCH! Go to another provider. Incompetent administrative staff and billing staff. Be careful they will take your insurance info, assure you that they will submit it to your your insurance. They will not. Then they will bill you. If you don't pay it they will refer you to collections. Very unfriendly, VERY bad customer service.

The Doctor appeared knowledgeable on my first visit for a eye problem, wait time wasn't to bad, but on my follow up visit I sat in the waiting room for over a hour and when my back started hurting from sitting in the uncomfortable chairs I walked out, I won't return there.

I go once a year for my checkup and reorder contacts. I was in and out in half the time I expected. It wasn't really crowded this time and that helps but they see a lot of patients and it's never a hassle. Everyone is helpful and friendly. I never feel I'm getting second rate care. They are always thorough and answer any questions I have. The optical shop is great and the contact fitting side will help you find the right lenses for you. Both sides of this facility will take care of you. One stop for your vision needs.

I will definitely be returning for all of my eye care needs! The staff & Drs were so welcoming and caring, they really made me feel comfortable by educating me on what is going on with my eyes and explaining why they were doing all the tests they were doing! I just got diagnosed with lupus and aps, which was the reason for the visit, and they were so great about that. They were constantly checking on me and making sure I was okay. The best eye care I have ever experienced hands down!

I had a great experience there a few years ago. The wait was quite long, but the staff was quite knowledgeable & efficient When you were finally called. Had some minor billing problems. Dr. Duke is the Greatest. Was quite skeptical when I first spoke with her, as she just looked too Young to be an eye surgeon, but after doing both eyes, I would highly recommend her to anyone who needed cataract surgery. She's the Best!!!

WORST EYE DOCTOR I HAVE EVER BEEN TO! TOTALLY DISORGANIZED, FACILITY DIRTY, 1.5 HOUR LATE GETTING ME IN!!!! I SAT IN CHAIR FOR 1.5 HOURS - I SAW 2 DOCTORS AND ALL THEY SAID WAS I HAD "INFLAMMATION" IN MY EYE AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. THEN PERHAPS THE WORST (AND MOST SHOCKING PART) WAS MY DOCTOR HAD REQUESTED RECORDS AND THE THIS FACILITY STATED I CANCELLED THE APPOINTMENT AND NEVER SHOWED UP!!! ARE YOU KIDDING??? I SAT IN A CHAIR FOR 1.5 HOURS WAITING AND ENDED UP SEEING 2 DOCTORS! I REQUESTED 2 (A SECOND OPINION) BECAUSE THE 1ST ONE SEEMED SO INCOMPETENT! NEVER AGAIN - I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL. WORST SERVICE EVER - BEWARE!

I've always gotten excellent care @ NIEI and greatly appreciate the Optometrists, Ophthalmologists, and Opticians. Lately, however, they've changed their call tree and out of my last eight calls I've not gotten to speak to a live human being even once, and when I've left messages I've gotten calls back only about half the time. Even when staff there calls me and I have to call them back to answer a specific question, I can't reach them. It's frustrating, especially for busy people trying to squeeze calls in during their hectic work day.

Nice staff for the most part but they are obviously severely understaffed. I know with the cutbacks to reimbursement rates it is getting hard for medical companies but make sure to plan on a long wait before you are seen.

This place is WAY over booked! Took me over a month to get it and when I got here there was no joke about 40 people waiting also! People were walking out before they’ve been waiting so long. I waited over 2 hours to see the dr! They need better organization!! Asking my dr for a different referral to a different place.

I have been bringing my son here for the last 17 years (since he was 4) due to a medical condition. Waits are always very long. My son made his appointment and it was with an Optometrist and was supposed to be with the Opthalmologist (due to his medical condition). My insurance denied it. I have spent the last 5 months talking to both my insurance and the billing department at North Idaho Eye Inst. trying to get the billing corrected. The two ladies I have spoken with were very put out that I asked them to resubmit the bill and after getting the majority of the bill paid by my insurance, refuse to help anymore and said they couldn't talk to me anymore and that if I didn't pay the remaining $45, they would send me to collections. It's horrible how they have treated me over a $45 bill that I have been actively trying to get straightened out with my insurance company. They just lost a patient of 17 years but they really don't care. They are not the only choice for an Opthalmologist in CDA. Be very careful and make sure they are making your appointment with the right kind of provider.

Office Support

Approx 6 weeks ago, had 2nd cataract surgery. First went well, This 2nd surgery was harder on me than the first. Since surgery, my vision contains lots of what appear to be pepper flakes. A week ago, I noticed in a photo of me that my eye appears about 1/3 smaller than other eye. called office New Years Day, not knowing it was holiday. spoke with on-call doctor who said eyelids droop with aging. I don't think that 's the case and think it is due to the surgery. Felt like he brushed me off. He said it could be repaired with cosmetic surgery but unlikely insurance would cover. Have appt with Post Falls office on 2.2.17 and will see what they say before I decide how to proceed.

I took my grandma in for cataract surgery and we had a wonderful experience! They got her in early because she was diabetic and they gave her snacks when she needed and they were super helpful with questions and just all around friendly staff, no complaints.

This used to be a great practice. I have been a patient... seen bullying within the staff and some of the staff was so wonderful and it wasn't noticed. I saw flirting to get ahead and I have seen the cleanliness go downhill. I will not be back and I will recommend my friends and family to another doctor.

Where do I begin? My appt. was 8/28/18, wait time was not long, my doctor seemed nice and when done walked me over to the optical dept to get contacts ordered. A trial pair was ordered, said they would be in in 2-3 days. A week went by, then 2 weeks. I called, they couldn't find them. Said they would call me back. Still couldn't find them so they ordered them again. I had to call again to find out if they had come in. They had, so I picked them up and was told to make appt in a week to check vision with the new contracts. At that appt. she decided to order a different pair to see if vision would be better. Said it would take 2 weeks. A month went by and I hadn't heard from them. IT'S NOVEMBER now. So I called today and the gal could not find them, checked on computer and it said they had been ordered and delivered. Looked again, didn't find so she said we can re-order them. The incompetence of this department is UNBELIEVABLE! I said no, I will pick up my prescription and go somewhere else and that's what I did.

From my very first LASIK surgery consultation to my follow up appointments, the team at North Idaho Eye provided me with outstanding care. I never once found my wait times to be excessive, and my personal scheduling needs were accommodated with ease. I felt that the fees were appropriate and I couldn't be happier with the outcome. I first found out about Lasik when I was twelve, and already severely near-sighted. It took me many years to work up the nerve to undergo the surgery, and I had obvious concerns as I started the process. After meeting Sharo and Dr. Smith, I felt so at ease about the whole thing, and was confident my eyes were in the best hands. The warm professionalism and competency of these two is unmatched. 16 years of fiddling with my lenses and searching for my glasses: OVER. I have 20/20 vision now, and all it took was a bit of discomfort and deep breathing. I recently had Lasik surgery with Dr. Smith and I can't explain how amazing my experience was. Dr. Smith was great at explaining everything in detail and answered all my questions. During surgery she explains everything she is doing and makes you feel comfortable and relaxed. I have never been able to pass an eye test without my glasses and the next day after surgery I was able to see the smallest line. Dr. Smith truly changed my life by giving me the freedom to see without contacts or glasses!

Worst experience ever. Wait in a dirty waiting room, no seats available. I'm thinking that I must be waiting for something good. Three fricking hours later I am told nothing and then the billing situation was just another joke. Please, please.... go somewhere else. This place is horrible.
