I needed a Hip Surgery Done in 2007 and chose Dr. Soma with following reason : Straight forward answers , and hands down, "on one of the best surgeon for Hip's on Maui" Hawaii. Why fly to Oahu , or to the Mainland when you have Doctor Soma performing ' ACE Surgery's on Maui ' Understand , it is much easier to going to his Surgery Center , Recover , and go Home , than . Fly to other islands or Mainland , Rent Hotels and eat unhealthy food , being away from family and helping friends , Maui is Easy for recovery. I have my hip for 11 Years and must say , I can perform all the actives well. Of course you will not be able to jump like a young child but ,,,,, i can do all the hikes and long walks with my Wife . Thank you DR Soma , you are da best ! FYI ,,,, I was not ask to write this by anyone.

First time patient, was very pleased. Reoccurring visitation learned that he takes on more than he should. Average wait time in the reception is about an hour. When you do see him, not much is explained and when he does discuss details with you it's bare minimum. Better have all your questions written down, if they're not asked in his allotted time frame better jump online

Dr Soma is the very best physician and surgeon I have ever met. I had a mumford procedure done on right shoulder. Excellent work. Minimal scar. Very caring. I am a nurse and have been for over 30 years. I recommend Dr Soma to everyone. Excellent skills

These other reviews are fake and his staff was probably forced to submit them to boost ratings. Notice that these 'consumers' have only submitted one review to Google. Soma is notorious for being a sloppy surgeon, but his arrogance and rudeness is what he's famous for. He's mean to women, especially.

DO NOT USE DR SOMA - I am handicapped because of Dr Soma! The positive reviews on Google are probably faked.. Worst Experience Ever. Please save yourself from getting surgery from the hands of Dr Soma. He overstated his abilities, got in over his head in surgery, and then worried more about a lawsuit than the concerns of his patient. He has a cookie cutter answer about all of the bad reviews he has online. Blames it on everyone but himself. Check Yelp and Web MD. However I can attest first hand. The reviews have truth. This is a horrible surgeon.

Dr. Soma performed a very complex hip operation on my husband. It is due to his fine surgical skills that my husband is walking again. My husband and I cannot than Dr. Soma enough.

Dr Soma thinks fast and acts fast and isn't in the business of feeding someones egotistical demand of self indulged senses of undeserved respect...he's a doctor and does the job with complete precision. Surgery isn't psychiatry.The staff? Way beyond the call of duty and a total no nonsense approach as this is what gets the job done. Streamlined and efficient, very refreshing compared to 90 percent of the offices I've visited in my life. I'm not fake either. I recommend this doctor to anyone concerned about their well being.

Bad experiene overall. Front office is totally ineffective. Nobody calks back. They ask the same questions over and over because of poor communication between staff. For a 20 min consultation it takes 3 hours. Apparently our time isn't valuable. Funny... We pay his bills. Choose someone else. Ps the inside office doors do not accomodate a wheelchair!!!!

Was referred to Dr. Soma for a wrist fracture. Was able to get an appointment immediately and the office staff was very pleasant to work with. Wait time to see doctor was minimal. He was very thorough in explaining my options for recovery and responded to my medical concerns in a very professional manner by opening a dialog for me to ask questions.. His nurse Margaret is awesome!! I Underwent a surgical procedure for my fracture on a Friday and Dr. Soma was available on the weekend to further assist me in the recovery process. Though I’m only a week out of surgery, I have confidence in continuum of care. Highly recommended

I had a very unfortunate injury on the first day of my vacation in Maui which was very frustrating. I was referred to Dr. Soma and the entire staff at North Shore Orthopedics (receptionist, assistant, nurse, and doctor) were incredibly friendly and took a genuine interest in my well being and finding a resolution that worked. They took me on short notice and even filled out my paperwork (injury caused the lack of use in my dominant hand and arm). I am very grateful for the service I received here.

This Doc really knows how to take care of his patient! From start to finish,. dealing with Dr. Soma and his staff is a very pleasant and professional experience. His office staff are most accommodating. His Wailuku medical office facility is very comfortable and clean, both waiting and the exam rooms. You are always greeted by smiling staff. Dr. Soma very much listens to your medicals concerns and then offer alternatives to move forward to correct the problems. In my case it was a very bothersome meniscus tear. He scheduled the surgery promptly and performed it miraculously. I came out of surgery with little to no pain and am so happy I moved forward with the corrective surgical process. The follow-up appointments were professional, uplifting, and very positive. Access to both Dr. Soma and his staff was awesome. I would describe the total experience as being far superior than most medical experiences I have been involved with and in one word "amazing". My future mobility and enjoyment with my grandchildren, biking, and snowboarding is due to Dr. Soma's professionalism. To say the least I am a very very satisfied customer. I am glad I can share my experience to assist others to move forward with Dr. Soma. You cant go wrong!!

My son broke his patella (knee cap) 1 day before our 3 week Maui vacation. It happened on a weekend so he wasn't able to see an orthopedic surgeon before we got to Maui. I found Dr. Charles Soma on a Google search and they got us in the day after I called. I am so thankful and appreciative of the quality of service from Dr. Soma and his staff. They took so much time with us. My son needed a little extra help and they went above and beyond to give it to him. Special thanks to Margaret for being awesome, we really appreciate you! took my son to see him, expressed concerns and he found a extra bit of info via x ray that we weren't even there for, referred us to Shriners. so far the office staff hasn't called me back on any of that info yet, and the wait is about an hour but we are all doing our best here.

Dr. Soma cares and wanted to help me after many years of pain and discomfort. Love my new thumb! I recommend Dr. Soma. I had bad arthritis and bone spurs in my basal thumb joint. I am so pleased and happy he was able to help me pain free. He did a basal joint replacement for my thumb. Fyi: he placed an joint (implant) in the area of defect. If you are having pain .. Go for it! Cuz I love it. Dr So.a also did carpal tunnel surgery on two of my hand, and a trigger finger. I trust his judgment!

Post op care was a joke. Not a hand surgeon. He didn't banage my hand properly, and it got infected. It wasnt covered completely! Rushed me through! When it started going south, he told me my physical therapist, was taking over. I thought you were the doctor? I was having muscle spasms, and he had nothing to say about it, or treatment. So surgery FAILED. I talked to a hand specialist after the infection went away, he said that fingers are very tricky "no man's land" for surgery. Because of infection, scar tissue, risky to get it worked on again. I would be out of work for a long. If you think this is inaccurate give me a call Soma. Don't over book your schedule, and give your patients proper, thoughtful, post-op care.
