Don't let them fool you: they are a research hospital and patients come third. First: the MD's--who are "inventing the future," an actual quote, and thus too busy to see a patient in less than 8 weeks who is facing open heart surgery or death (my situation). Second: the "nurse ratchets" and other apparatchiks with whom mere mortals actually communicate. And third: you... or your mother with Alzheimer's... or your daughter with a fever and diarrhea--that might be potentially fatal C-Diff. If you beg and scrape, they will lecture about how they are doing you a favor, how wonderful and important they are, and how they personally will go beyond the regular procedures procedures to try to help, but they "want you to remember it."

My daughter, a Stanford student, went to the ER because she cut her finger. They put a band-aid on and sent us a bill for $2,786.86. The State of CA is suing Sutter Health due to price gouging, and they cite an example where a Sutter ER charged a man who cut his finger $1,555 for a band-aid and a tetanus shot. We got charged almost twice as much and Stanford didn't even give her a shot! CRIMINALS. I have donated to their foundation for 15 years but will never give another dime, and will never use their services if I can possibly help it. If you're a billionaire like so many in our area, then Stanford Hospital is for you. If you're a regular person, don't touch them.

Stanford Hospital lost my friend's wallet and van keys during his stay, during a scrambled room change, in which it was carelessly dropped on the floor. The wallet was allegedly placed in a safe, with a tracking number, but could not be located when my friend was discharged. The wallet contained everything, including his birth certificate, SS card, bank card, ID, etc. It also contained his address book with all his contacts. As a homeless individual, the loss of his van keys is the equivalent to the keys to his home. Also on this key ring were 3 small antique keys, which are the only things that my friend owned that had formerly belonged to his mother, and which can never be replaced. Stanford offered no help in finding these items, no compensation, no apology, and no concern. I cannot help but believe that if this had happened to myself or my husband, it would have been handled differently. But since it happened to someone who was homeless, no attempt was made to right this mistake. It has taken months of work and support to replace the wallet contents, but the antique keys and address book can never be recovered, which has caused my friend significant heartbreak. I was shocked and appalled at the lack of concern for this devastating incident.

I was diagnosed with 3 types of cancer, 2 different breast cancers and thyroid cancer which created cancerous tumors in my lungs. I moved her to go to Stanford as my daughter lives an hour away. I was from the east coast. I truly cannot say enough positive things about Dr. Colevas and his team After 15 months my thyroid was removed, hormones balanced and two lumpectomies removed those cancers with clear margins. The cancerous tumors in my lungs are terminal. I am treated with oral chemo which shrunk the tumors but was told it will lose it's effectiveness and I will be switched to a different 'trial' med. These trials come with heavy side effects that are often quite nasty and dangerous. Care and follow is excellent. I have so many other doctors there, but do nor have all their names handy. Stanford gets an A+ from me. By the way...I never smoked and was an organic chef all my career. Where do these cancers come from?

I've never had a worse experience. Every time a new Dr came on shift they make it important to check up with you. I think they do it to be soothing and let you know they care, but when every Dr has a different opinion it becomes frightening the worst part was Michelle in case management. She clearly didn't have my wellbeing in mind. She was misleading and deceitful she told me not to worry I would be in surgery by the end of the week. Likely tomorrow or the next day. That was completely false nobody had checked the refered Dr's schedule. I'm worried about who's case she gets next.

Although Stanford Hospital has many topnotch physicians, dealing with the bureaucracy there has become a nightmare. To begin with, it is no longer possible to call any clinic or doctor directly. All calls go to a central phone bank where operators take messages which they forward to the doctor or clinic in question who, they say, will get back to you within 24 hours. Often they do not. When you do manage to get an appointment, the follow-up is sub-par. On one occasion, I had a procedure after which it took five weeks for them to communicate to me the results. Since the tests came back within the week, I am at a loss to explain the delay after delay after delay until I was finally able to talk to the physician. On a Monday, I phoned in a formal complaint and the administrator said that he would have the doctor call me that afternoon. He did not. Instead, the administrator called back on Tuesday morning to tell me that the doctor had called him and said that either he or his nurse would call me on Wednesday. I asked why, if the doctor could pick up the phone and call the complaints office, he couldn't have called me as well. The administrator had no idea. On Wednesday, the nurse did call me and told me that the doctor would be calling me on Thursday between 9:30 and 11:00 AM. I asked her why he couldn't call me that day, but she had no idea either. Finally, at 11:15 on Thursday, the doctor did call, saying that he had tried calling me twice before--which is true--but I never called back. I explained that he did not leave his number and that the call center would not give it to me. He said, "Oh". So, in effect, it took four days of consistent pressure to get the news that the tests were all negative and that he would have to repeat the procedure. I said fine, but asked whether it would take another four to five weeks to get the results again. He said that hopefully things would go more swiftly this time. I find this kind of treatment unacceptable. Since I also use medical care in New York and Berlin, where I have always been able to reach my physician and gotten test results in a timely manner, I have some point of comparison. Fifteen years ago, Stanford Hospital was user-friendly. Today it is a labyrinthine institution which does not serve the interests of its patients well.

Our family, and our mother has been very grateful for the excellent medical teams at Stanford. Quite simply put, the doctors and support teams are the best in the world with the hospital among the top 5 hospitals on the US. We are thankful and grateful for the support we received from every nurse, aid, and medical professional. Thank you, Thank you!

This is a review about Stanford Health Care in general. Basically, stay the hell away as it has extremely shady billing practices. I made an appointment over the phone, citing my annual free preventive check-up as the reason for my visit. I did the same thing at the office the day of my appointment and to the doctor. I was shocked to receive a bill about two weeks later for over $500. Because I was a first time patient, I was hit with a $441 'new patient' fee that my insurance barely covered. Stanford Health had ample opportunities to tell me I would be charged this fee: I could have been told when making the appointment on the phone or when I showed up to the appointment. Or they could put it on its website. But they kept it a secret and because I have never previously been charged such a fee (I'm 38 - this wasn't my first time visiting a doctor), I never thought to ask. On top of this fee, I was charged $200 for the five minutes it took to remove wax from one ear. Mind you, I was charged for both ears despite the fact the doctor said only one needed to be cleaned because the other was "only 25% blocked". I chalk this up to me not asking if it was covered but the 'new patient' fee is ridiculous. I appealed the 'new patient' fee to Stanford Health billing department but the woman there was incredibly rude and basically stated the charge will not change. Worse, this person stated that if I came in next year and got the same services, I wouldn't be charged meaning it's all semantics and has absolutely nothing to do with the services rendered. I appealed to my insurance (Blue Cross Blue Shield) to fight the fee but they also couldn't care less about patients. My last hope is the California Department of Managed Healthcare. Worse part...I told my wife to go here before the bill came so now we owe nearly $900 for two basic preventative visits. The care from the Stanford doctors is fine but it's not special in any way. Proceed with caution if you decide to go here and make sure you ask what you will be charged. I don't recommend this place at all.

Attentive, caring and attention to little details. Friendly. The whole staff in every dept was friendly and helpful

Visited here for an extremely mundane strep throat test. Doctor suggested that I also have a mono test performed, and I agreed. A few weeks later, I was billed nearly THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS. For a strep test!!! After arguing with the billing center ("these are accurate charges that are agreed upon with insurers" etc), basically I have no recourse but to pay an obscene amount for what should have been an at most $300 or $400 test. Do NOT go to Stanford health center. Stay away!!

Great experience, modern facilities.

Great directions gave it 4 stars because the app is slow to update routes.

Their transplant center harvested our daughter's kidney despite our begging and pleading for them not to do so. They robbed her of health, and family; they robbed us of our daughter.

Great hospital. Visiting from Canada, they are building a new building to expand the hospital currently.

I went to Stanford for an annual health exam and discussing some personal concerns. The service was high but I cannot say the same for the billing. My visit was charged as an Office visit which didn't meet my insurance's criteria to offer assistance. When I called their support and asked for guidance they said that they're charging all of the new patients an Office Visit even if it is preventative! On top they suggested that there is no way to file 2 separate claims for the preventative part of the service and that I should have known to have booked a separate appointment. I thought that I would go again but I'm not sure anymore. The cost of the service was pretty high and after being treated so poorly I would expect even worse billing cases in the future.

Love this hospital. It’s so clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful and doctors are top notch. I’ve had my little cousin come here because of arthritis and the team here is so amazing. This is the only hospital carries the medication she needs to relieve the aches and pain of her joints. I also had my aunt come here for knee replacement surgery and her recovery was great. The food is also amazing too!!

My daughter, Monica was having a kidney transplant since October 2007 and the Type 1 diabetes 2008 at Stanford healthcare. All friendly healthstaff team are the perfect medical health experiences for nephrology and diabetes-endocrinology department. She met Dr. Steven Alexander MD from LPCH and Colin Lenihan MD from Stanford Adult Hospital. And also; she met Dr. Marina Basina MD from the endocrine clinic. We appreciate for thanks to all of you doctors and nurses! We love you and thank you for supporting my daughter, Monica. That's and they are really brilliant!!!

Dana Tierney

head and shoulders above other hospitals.

Stanford overcharges grossly for routine work. I recently had a standard ECG which a year previously had been done at a Sutter facility for $388 (all in). Stanford wants $2068 for the exact same 100 year old test. Most of this was 'facility charge'. really? That's usury rates. They hide behind being a 'teaching' instutution, as if that justifies gross overcharging. Maybe they're good for unusual illnesses but stay away for anything routine unless you like being ripped off. At the very least shop around before you let Stanford do anything.

I have to give praise to Kaiser. They took care of me when I was completely paralyzed and without the ability to speak. I was completely aware of everything and still felt pain. I remember the ambulance and the helicopter ride to Stanford and remember being in a weird room, my head, surrounded by these articulating panels, and nurses in full garb telling me to be still. Stanford pulled the clots out of my brain in that window of opportunity that doctors scream about. We need more of these systems around the US. They save lives and give you back most of what you were, pre-stroke. My experience has taught me alot.....God Bless

Not very pleased so far. Being able to communicate with Stanford by phone is very challenging. I have three medical problems that I am told two are urgent, yet Interventional Radiology can’t seem to schedule an appointment for a procedure, and I’ve been waiting four days now and not one word from them. I can’t even get them to answer the phone or return a message, it’s like they’re closed. Maybe Stanford isn’t a good choice.

Felipe

Well efficient and great help. A lot of great sights. If you have a certain health insurance, the cost of parking will be free or there will be a price reduction. Be sure to ask the office you're in.

Id give Stanford 5 Stars but they don't have a clinic in Gilroy, Morgan Hill area. An area that is sorely laking in medical services for their patients. In general, care is very good. They have finally gotten Walk in clinics as sell as Express Care services. It makes it a bit easier, but they still need a full clinic in Coyote Valley.

Jen Gray

Been here for a few emergencies, don't really want to go back but they were good to me.

My daughter was admitted to this hospital 3x since last year. Nurses at Standford hospital were excellent but doctors (GI) were uncompassionate, unfriendly, arrogant, judegemental and and rude. They totally ignored my daughter's pain and complaints of GI problems. Because of history of eating disorder, they judged her condition as "controlling anorexic" and blamed her for illness especially by one of nurse practioners. Doctors at John Muir hospital in Conconrd did not judged her with this history but cared for her current illness. It is very disasapointg to be referred to hospital like Stanford which is known for its modern technology of medical care. If they cannot find what's wrong with my daughter , they should admit that they cannot find her treatment and refer her to Mayo Clinic like John Muir doctors did. It's a shame, shame.

Johnathon Langford

I work at Stanford. I love it. Everyone is extremely helpful to each other as co workers and especially the patients, their friends and family. Go Cardinal!

Varun Pradhan

Lethargic nurses and staff. Extremely rude and unprofessional. Please get the staff retrained as they have no idea on how to handle deliveries. Being treated/ handled by Resident assistants here is a big risk!

Great experience at Stanford Hospital this month. Excellent doctors and nurses and staff in neurosurgery and neurology. The neurosurgeon, anethesiologist, MRI staff were amazing.

Great Hospital! My uncle has to travel there every few months to be seen by the Doctors there and I believe he is in great hands!!! They are currently building the new hospital and from the looks of it, it is going to be georgous. Looks like it will be open around November of 2019. So there is construction going on to be aware of. There is also a Free Tram to take your around the hospital so that you don't have to walk. Everyone that we came into contact with who worked there was extreamly nice and helpful. I would recomment this place for sure!

No doctor anywhere from San Jose, CA to Merced, CA could diagnose and treat my raspy voice. Lost out on several job interviews with top technology employers because of my terrible voice. Endured years of lost wages, lost confidence and depression because everyone struggled to understand me over the telephone and in person. Stanford Medical Center in Stanford, CA transformed my life. Vocal cord surgery was on March 15 and for several weeks afterwards my voice went from bad to very bad. Feared the operation damaged my vocal cords and I would have scars. Then about 2 months after operation one morning my excess mucus and raspy voice disappeared. My voice was near radio quality. Different voice but way better than ever before. Reminds me of the homeless 'Man with the Golden Voice'.

Lety Ruiz

These are highway robbers. Try getting treated anywhere else in the area. My girlfriend's visit ended up with two different kinds of overcharging. The more egregious overcharging is that they performed a surgery that she did not need. The staff presented some information and said she had 10 minutes to make a decision, and the nurses essentially pressured her into accepting the doctor's recommendation. After the fact, she took some time to read, learned that the operation was completely unnecessary, and has regretted it ever since. The less egregious overcharging is that she had an appointment with a specific doctor and, when she showed up, the doctor was "unavailable". Instead, someone else saw her, told her she had nothing to worry about, and made her another appointment with the doctor she was supposed to see. This was charged as a "hospital visit", for over $13k. Insurance cuts that down by a lot, but this is still pure bait and switch.

Aya Seit

Beautiful place, great service...I had excellent surgery there, with excellent surgeon and his team at Stanford hospital. I'm Cochlear Implanted patient, and Dr. Blevins was awesome!

On YouTube look up "Do no harm: some hospitals let a preventable infection kill their patients" from Vox. Directly talks about this hospital and their hygiene.

Lauren Spagnola

When I came in the nurses & Drs where great. Over night surgery. I asked if I would be staying in t that area, the nurses said no. If so I would not go t through with surgery. I am P.T.SD ,OCD& other problems To sum it up I having pain don't understand why the drs & nurses. Argued, won't help the pain. I'm eating a turkey sandwich that has been sitting here all night. This place is a nightmare! Never been treated so badly my entire life.

Justin Lambert

Absolutely awful. I gave them 2 stars because there are a handful of nurses who are amazing but I had to spend a week there after a major surgery. Hopefully surgery will heal okay. Regarding ortho drs, awful they rather teach then take care of patients. Maybe saw and heard from them once or twice. Trauma wanted to take a chest tube out bc they weren’t sure if it should or should they just wanted to try. A dr should make decisions with confidence. I made them one wait one more day. Most Olof nurses forgot to bring me medicine I had to call and remind them. And the communication between Drs was the worse. Trauma came in one morning And said they we’re waiting to discharge me because they wanted to see my final CT scans and XRays. I had to tell them that both were done the night before. They had no idea. Don’t go here!

Patricia Prestwood

Thank you Dr Steven Chang for doing an excellent job with my daughter..hospital and staff..amazing..just angels!! I will be forever greatful!! .

My experiences at Stanford Hospital have been excellent. I went to Stanford since it is a world famed hospital. Doctors and nurses and staff appear to be polite, knowledgeable, and very good based on my observations. It is definitely world class based on my good experiences. Thanks to Stanford for the quality health care and please continue to work hard to maintain the high standards. It gives patients confidence.

I’m both a patient and a provider. Stanford offers compassionate, unique treatment. Good with rare disorders and specialties. Responsive to feedback. Overall Stanford is patient centric: always striving to improve, innovate, and inspire hope, health, and happiness.

Best hospital! Extremely caring and warm staff that is constantly checking on patients, as well as patients family. I was there for a week every day to visit a close family member admitted at the hospital and was highly impressed by the professionalism, and high level of competence, that I've witnessed in no other hospital EVEr!

Recently had a 12 night stay at this hospital following a pelvic fracture and surgery. Hands down the worst medical experience of my life. None of the staff were ever on time with medications despite me screaming and crying in agony. Also to top it off, some of my pain meds were completely left out of my discharge prescription which caused large lapses in pain relief. Sent wheelchair to my home in Texas despite that I couldn’t walk. Even after we told them to do whatever necessary to make sure it arrived to the hospital on time so that I could get to the hotel and airport.

KID LIFE with SOPHIE AND PAYTON

Well they have more than once saved my dads life. Hes been through some crazy extensive surgerical procedures taking up to 14 hours. His staff was always soft and friendly and kept up update about every hour. And helped us get into a private room which we were more than thankful to have for my mom. Amazingly talented people who run this hospital

Kyle .

Vox did a mini-documentary about a girl who got 4 Central Line Infections while at this hospital. Do not go here. They do not treat Central Line Infections seriously. They treat them like inevitable accidents rather than being unacceptable.

Kirsten Ingram

my daughter was recently a patient at Stanford Medical Center for an extended amount of time..I believe these drs..some obviously better then others..they tirelessly searched for an answer and how to help her..In there words she is a zebra in a herd of horses..even at Stanford they had a terrible time trying to diagnose and cure my daughter..she is I believe on the road to recovery due to the efforts of many..especially want to say Dr Lance (Norman) Downey went outside of the box to find different answers to help her..Not to downplay anyone else at all..they were all amazing. Thanks to you all from the bottom of our hearts..

Toured this hospital while it is under expansion and was impressed by its promise of being the most modern by the time it is fully finished by 2018. It will have almost 400 rooms by then with 2x emergency care capacity and 3x intensive care capacity. Awesome!

The hospital has really deteriorated as far as the personnel goes They give a half an attitude of I don’t care especially the RNs the LVN’s and below where the only ones that were helpful to us I definitely will be looking for a new hospital for any other procedures

I took my dad to emergency room for a stomach pain. He end up having a surgery to remove his gallstone. After the surgery he had a bile leak. They waited for three days to do a procedure to fix his bile leak.it’s been ten days now and He is still in the hospital with more complications. I thought standford Hospital was the best.

Emmanuel Gonzalez

There's been a report on this hospital by Vox and this hospital only cares about the money... They even sent a letter to a mother saying "We are sorry you weren't satisfied with your experience" DUDE HER CHILD DIED... Her child died due to a perventable disease while other hospitals take it more seriously and actually have a totally safe solution.

Maniza Johnson

Excellent health care in all aspects, outstanding and most progressive physicians, skillful and caring nurses and staff. I had a successful Cyber knife surgery by Dr. Adler, the world famous Neurosurgeon. For my recurrent facial paralysis/bells palsy Dr . Jacklar, Dr. Lopez, Dr. Most, Dr. Lee have all provided treatments, surgery and care on a continuous basis. I no longer have to live with a crooked face for years at a time. I could not speak or eat among other disabilities. As an university professor I had to stay unemployed suddenly when I had these episodes. Dr. Zei, Dr. Marilyn Tan, Dr. Kahn, Dr. Garcia Rodriguez continue to provide excellent care. My regret not getting my pacemaker installed here. I had a hole in my heart in m my heart and 2 surgery in 3 days at OHSUand

Staff was very friendly, but the rooms were very uncomfortable. There was a single chair with no kind of accomodations for staying with my dad over night. Any guests that came to visit were constantly shifting in and out of the room due to size. No seating area for guests anywhere near our room and any area we chose to relax in was cramped and uncomfortable.

Megan Cole

Such a disappointment. Not living up to their name. Incompetent doctors and nurses. Horrible communication. No results, just more prescriptions and no interest on my doctor to try to find a solution.

Consistently the best our Area has, until you drive all the way there and then get I d k from your supposed expert on uti (that was expensively bilking ) Consistently the best on phone. Consistently the promised best. Let's hope that the British expert pediatric psychiatrist for care of by proxy of Munchausen syndrome is found. He disappeared patient abandonment, and the administration say they cannot locate his past records employed there! The UTI dr referring recurrent drug resistant mysteries over to the psychiatry division, ?!lol, ( because the fiscal mysteries are not hypochondriac indeed they are causal affected neurological disorder which is sending signal to the body to create illnesses- at rapid pace- in synchopation with the Alarmist, panic blood pressure spikes, .This keeps in play wide circles of medical Personell- All hopping- satisfying the craving urges for $ick attention . Hmph, so yeah, having to be the dr when we bring her to the drs kinda sucks-- but I rate Stanford as my brightest in our area HOPE If they locate a not evasive committed to be expert MSBP resident who won't disappear and do Patient abandonment Clearly the weak link in the entire labyrinth, the syndrome illnesses- evade typically true diagnoses, and erstwhile are real examples of self- induced anomalies. Could the reason why God has Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy ( attempted homicides, homicidal serial killers with self- harming life long) be.... For the medical folk to communicate clearly with the neurological disorder folks and be ready to try lobotomy or electrotherapy on these maladroits plus as Germany instructs, tie their tubes. The narcissist megalomaniac must not be able to murder children and families inside hidden homes, vehicles. It's an essay. I'm studying it. This scourge MSBP goes tiptoed around by medical places they encounter it alot and abet the homicides by handing the Munch's more drugs and tools to feed the urges which equip the msbp to make murder on family, visiting friends kids, the stray kids, the crying scraped knee kid at the park who gets " treated" by the saccharine cooing mom or dad who has the first aid kit, only what was that practice technique of torture on his knee? The parents can never erase the trauma nor the scarring. What was in that aerosol? Hmm. It just spreads- msbp was supposed to be eradicated when Germany discovered it. Hitler's mother was MSBP. It's an anti . Stanford has evasive disappearing staff with perplexing dearth of accountability when a disease if you will, is dire. Thus far, Stanford rests And I mean goes on vacation xx On it's laurels. We need diligence. Not evasive tactics for tough but treatable complex conditions.

Dr. Kimberly Stone - Stanford Breast Surgeon Dr. Stone preformed a bilateral mastectomy in Nov. 2018. She has been nothing but exceptional in all aspects of the pre and post surgery consultations. Very patient and understanding of the difficulties that go along with this type of surgery.

In early September 2014. I was flown in from the island of Kauai. In critical condition. With heart and renal failure. The Staff at this wonderful Hospital came to my rescue . Quickly working to qualify me to become a candidate to receive a heart and kidney transplant. While there. The physicians, surgeons, nurses, therapist and the entire staff. We're the greatest. The kindness shown to their patients. Is truly heart felt. On September 27, 2014 I was blessed to receive the gift of life. I am now recovered, retired and healthy. Thanks to our lord Jesus Christ, Stanford University Medical Center. And the loving, caring, gift from a very special Family. Best wishes Patrick Contrades P.S. I was so touched to find. Stephen Ragain

Wildly overpriced for grad students. Even with their own insurance, referrals within their system can cost several hundred dollars just for office visits (no tests or operations). Insurance staff are unhelpful and disorganized, waiting weeks to respond to inquiries. Given the tight budget many grad students have, it's rather embarrsing how little Stanford's vaunted health care system seems to care about it's students.

Alejandro Lara

This is the type of hospital that lets little kids die and treats it as an unpreventable accident rather than learning from their mistakes.

My husband has been a patient at Stanford for the last 11 years. I have found the staff and doctors to be the most knowledgeable, and caring professionals. The nurses are super stars. Most recently my husband has been hospitalized since 12/12/16 and he is still a patient as of 1/18/17. He was set to be sent to a Subacute Nursing Rehabilation Facility when an organ became available for transplant on 1/11/17. He has exceeded the surgical team's expectations. He was transfered from the ICU to a step-down unit. He is thriving an within days he will be transfered to a rehab facility due to his de-conditioned state. The nursing staff continually change his position in bed to avoid bedsores. The nurses are so caring. Without the world class treatment my husband has received I am sure I might of lost my husband. I will be forever indebted to Stanford's surgeons, CNA's, and the nurses. I highly recommend Stanford.

Keeping it short and simple... This year I was evaluated by the Marfan Clinic at Stanford. Dr. Liang and his coordinator Sunny, started this my experience. Dr. Liang is an expert in Marfan, Loeys-Dietz and other related syndromes. Less than a week later, I was having open heart surgery with Dr. Michael Fischbein and Dr. Craig Miller. These gentlemen are the best in their fields. I was not an easy case. It was only 3 weeks later when I returned to Dr. Fischbein for open heart surgery #2. Dr. Liang waited until after hours to greet me by ambulance. He stood next to me and guided the team waiting for me as they worked hard to stabilize me. These men are special.

Just got my bill for a follow-up appointment. Since they won't take my insurance, I pay out of pocket to see a specialist here. The office visit price more than doubled since the last visit. I was NEVER informed of this, either when making the appointment or on check-in, when I tried to pay the bill in person. If they are this dishonest and unethical with their biliing, what else are they dishonest and unethical about?

Dr. Alex Clarke from Psychiatry saved me from debilitating anxiety and major depressive disorder.

My husband had surgery here. They have knowledgeable staff, great bedside manner (almost nonexistent in today's society), and positive vibrations. Their cafeteria and gift shop are the best!!!

Care was great. Was mislead by the receptionist prior to my MRI treatment and received a very high bill several weeks later. The facility did not care about the misquote. Additionally the MRI treatment was 3x the market value for no reason that they could explain aside from "it is the market cost in the area" even though a quick google search can establish this as false. I will not go back.

They've always given our whole family awesome treatment there.

Amazing. . .simply amazing work. In October my husband was diagnosed with Stage IV Giant Cell Glioblastoma. We were seen by a neurosurgeon (Dr. Steven Chang) the very next day, placed on steroids for a week to shrink the tumor/inflammation. One week later they removed as much of the tumor as they could (it was wrapped around several structures in his brain so they couldn't get it all). After removing 25% of his brain he still had all of his faculties and was (with the exception of the loss of ability to read and write) his own self. Our on-going joke was that they took his brain but left his mind intact. Because Glioblastoma is a terminal disease my husband, ultimately, chose to go on hospice. For the next 5 months we (he) did great; again no loss of cognitive ability/facility except the expected expressive aphasia and some minor memory issues. Up until 5 days before he died on March 19th we had the most wonderful times together and were able to reaffirm our love and build memories to tide me through the rest of my life without him :*( YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST!!!! Thank you!

The ekg techs do not regularly clean the 12 lead wires from the ekg machine after every patient use. I know because I was trained that way when I worked there. Huge OSHA violation and Health Hazard.

I have the most respect and admiration for this company. I signed up and was hired for a volunteer position. I've heard so many bad comments about them, and I have to say they have 'class'. May forever they live! Hip Hip Hurray!

This is by far the worst experience with a hospital I've ever dealt with. My pregnant wife and I have been sitting in this exact spot for literally SIX hours, and that's not overreacting. They staff has come once every hour to talk some bs then leave again for another hour with little to no information given. We finally got tired of the runaround and asked to just be discharged with no medicine or anything done! The communication is beyond terrible. For as much as they charge to live here you would think it would be filled with class, and expertise which it lacks all the above!!!!

Devon DeMontigny

They really do there best to save lives research. My son 5 year reboot making him 20 years old .

The staff, communication, cleanliness, food, and everything else about this hospital are great. My wife and I spent 7 full days here after her total elbow replacement. Each and every single nurse that helped were so patient and helpful. The pain management team was very knowledgeable and creative to help my wife get her pain under control. The surgeon was a super hero. I can't say enough about this hospital. Even the maintenance crew had an attitude of excellence.

Dr. Amanatula (orthopedics) gave me injections without consulting with or allowing me to participate in my care, did not know for 4 months He appears to have a God complex and does not believe non-doctors can understand. However, I attended the University of Michigan, and can understand everything coming out of his mouth with the caveat that for some medical terms or medications with Latin names I might need a short definition. Also, Dr. Amanatula would make some snide remarks & make false interpretations of the documentation in my medical file by the Veterans Administration; some of which are false and fraudulent statements for the attribution of responsibility for the use of pain medication. 22 years ago there was widespread use of high levels of narcotics in the VA, it still exists, but to a lesser extent today. The VA did not and does not want to spend adequate resources for service connected injuries, so they silence and in some cases, murder veterans through the use of opioids. To avoid criminal prosecution and expensive civil litigation and settlements, VA doctors use false and fraudulent documentation of official medical records to justify their use of opioids to silence veterans. Dr. Amanatula has bought into a variation of this sick and pathetic practice. Amanatula, several times suggested that instead of surgery he could inject me with steroids so that I would not need surgery; that I did not need to worry because I would not harm my leg bones (I do not have any cartilage in either knee for almost 8 years). He said he'd just give me an injection every few months. A large piece of bone broke off the side of my knee, causing tremendous pain, sensitive to touch, resulting in a height differential between legs and the loss of an inch-and-a-half off my overall height. Additionally, I drag that leg behind me to go up and down steps and now walk bowlegged. I now have been developing grooves in the bones of my legs, causing the bones to get stuck and lock in place when I stand for more than a minute. I have to physically manipulate my leg bones to move them out of these grooves. It is extremely painful to do this. I don't want to lose any more height, I do not want any more bones breaking off. I want to walk normal. AMANATULA lied to me or he does not understand basic anatomy and bone density. Amanatula intentionally sent my appointment authorizations to the wrong address to prevent payment authorization by Tri-Care West. When I arrived I had to wait several hours before he would see me due to "no authorization", hoping to prevent me from being seen. The 3d time Amanatula had 3 months to send and process the correct forms for my surgery and pre-op clearances, but when it came time for pre-op appointments Dr. Amanatula claimed to have sent them to the wrong address, again. I guess God does not have the intelligence to learn from his mistakes. My appointments had to be cancelled, as did the surgery, because I could not trust a doctor who lies and tries to harm me. Amanatula made snide remarks about my service dog, claimed not to know that an orthopedic surgeon had documented my need for reconstructive surgery (both shoulders), or that my cervical spine needed to be restructured by a neurosurgeon. He also was unaware of osteoporosis in the hips or lumbar spine or a curvature of the spine that I believe was caused by my knees needing surgery for 8 years. His remarks suggested that a 3 month injection of steroids in the knees completely obviated my need for service dog or surgery. Amanatula gave me a placebo injection in my knees to test my pain level and further delayed my surgery another 4 months. It took a year for Amanatula to get me to surgery, other surgeons reached that conclusion within 3 months. He wasted my time, caused harm and further injury to me. He furthered the VA fraud & false documentation. I was scheduled for surgery on June 26, 2017, surgery I had been waiting more than 8 years to receive. I do not trust Stanford. More - no space left...

Absolutely deplorable conditions for the patients making them wear their same clothes for 4 days at a time and then coming up with the excuse that housekeeping doesn't work that day or not providing their clothes for laundry then making patients wear somebody else's unknown clothing deplorable conditions at this facility do not recommend it to anybody

(For context, see the vox youtube video called: "Do no harm: Some hospitals let a preventable infection kill their patients")If you want an infection for your kid and/or death, this is the place to go! They don't care about hygiene or care, but you'll still have to pay through the nose for it! Now, I'll admit that the story of Nora might be because of just a few nurses and doctors, but the way this hospital treated the problem is disgusting. Do something about the problem instead of sitting back!

Stanford Health Care is a most Excellent health care in all world,I think. It has outstanding and most progressive physicians, skillful and caring nurses and staff.

Bianca Mulaney

Frustrated by Stanford's opaque billing practices. Care is very expensive and it is difficult to estimate how much it will cost beforehand (I was given an estimate for an office visit of "$150-800, but could be more or less" - not helpful at all!)
