Dr. Mehta is a miracle worker. He saved me from a life of isolation. No one wants to talk to someone who can’t hear. I went to lunch with friends, and I may as well have stayed home. He is Harvard trained and confident without being haughty. He is really compassionate in addition to being a marvelous surgeon. He operated on me for a Cochlear Implant Nov. 25, 2014. It was painless, easy and exciting. Recovery was really brief, a couple of days. He activated the CI in December. What a Christmas present! IIMMEDIATELY I could hear! Dr. Sasha Fischang was my audiologist. She has been fabulous. She and the doctor determined a CI was appropriate for me. Sasha has encouraged me, taught me, and it feels like she is a close friend. Every month my hearing has improved, and 6 months later, it has only gotten better and better. If it had never gotten better after the first week, I would have been grateful. I heard that MUCH better-that soon. This ear will probably be my “better ear” shortly! My brain is still learning how to hear from what was a totally deaf ear. A virus killed my hearing in that ear. I miss a word occasionally, but so do people with good hearing in noisy places! I can play bridge, have lunch and date again! In short, he and Sasha gave me back my life. If you have any doubts about getting a CI, ask Dr. Mehta or Sasha for my phone number. I would be happy to talk to you.
Thank you, thank you for giving me my life back!!!
