I hate this place. My initial appointment wasn't terrible, but I waited about 30 minutes past my start time to see Dr. Miller for a biopsy that took 5 minutes. I'll admit - I was unimpressed by her bedside manner and she sketched me out with her know-it-all attitude, but I decided I was being sensitive and I'd give them another try. A few days later, they left a voicemail with biopsy results and I called back to schedule a removal and a full-body exam. This is where they lost me. I show up for this appointment thinking I'm getting this horrid thing removed from my face. I get into the exam room and the nurse asks me, "So what are we doing for you today?" Seriously? That was a major red flag - they should know what I'm scheduled for. Then Dr. Miller comes in and asks me how I'd like the skin cancer removed. You tell me, Doc. What's going to leave my face less scarred? She proceeds to give me minimal, 'dumbed-down' explanations about each option, talking to me like I'm an idiot and, frankly, without any compassion for my concern over scarring on my 31-year old face. She seemed to appear irritated when I wanted to take a moment to think about which option I wanted to go with (the options being a cream to apply over a few weeks or freezing). We decided on this cream which she recommended for removal. Now - thank god my mother has had skin cancers and told me about the Mohs Surgery which she had back in N.C. My husband called to ask Dr. Miller about the Mohs Surgery (we understood they don't do this at her facility, but we were still curious if it was an option) and she explained my cancer spot wasn't large enough or deep enough or something (whatever - she said I wasn't a candidate). So - time for a 2nd opinion. TRUST YOUR GUT - I DID NOT FEEL RIGHT ABOUT HER. I got an appointment with Dr. E at the Alaska Center for Dermatology and he immediately recommended the Mohs Surgery for the removal of the skin cancer spot. I AM SO IRRITATED that this woman did not communicate to me all of my options. I felt like that was her obligation as my doctor, even if an option was a service her practice doesn't offer. The AK Center for Dermatology was 100x more professional, congenial, efficient, and comfortable. I never once had to second-guess the care I was getting from them. I got the spot removed with the Mohs Surgery today and couldn't be happier. I'm just so glad I went to get a second opinion. I've read other reviews on here alluding to similar situations about Dr. Miller's bedside manner. She comes across as if she's better or smarter than you because she's a doctor and she's pretty. I don't play that game. I'm a scientist too and she can talk to me like one. I don't appreciate doctors who place themselves above others. Let your work ethic and attitude speak for itself, just like her's did. That's why I'm now a patient somewhere else. You have been warned.
