We love Cook Children's on Heritage Trace, in particular Dr Shelby Jacob! When our first daughter was born, she ended up in the NICU because she was unable to nurse and became dehydrated. No one could figure out why. We were discharged home with me having to pump & bottle feed. Upon exam, Dr Jacob was immediately able to identify a physical abnormality that prevented my daughter from latching. Since then, we have been hooked on Dr Jacob! She takes the time to listen to our concerns and allows us to ask any & all questions! She never makes you feel rushed. She is prompt with returning calls/messages. She is one of our favorite doctors! The staff there are very professional and kind. We can't say enough good things about Dr Jacob & her staff!

This is not a place that supports single mothers or the abuse and/or hardships they endure. I will leave it at that.

First, let me say that the one star is strictly because the mishap that happening right at this moment is just not forgivable to me. My mother took my two daughters in to see their doctor for a 13:00 appointment. They’re out by 14:30. Not bad for two kids I don’t suppose. So why is it when we are told at 14:00 that medication is being called in to the pharmacy that I am here after work at nearly 20:00 and the pharmacy is telling me that nothing has been called in at all. My first call to the answering service requesting a call from a nurse was around 18:30 when I left work. Still nothing and I have called back twice since the first call. The only suggestion anyone at the answering service has is that I should continue to wait into the night until someone calls me and then go to a 24hour pharmacy. Let me tell you how easy that is since the closest 24 hour pharmacy is nearly 40minutes from me. I had no reason to believe that I should use a pharmacy that far away when my kids were seen WELL within normal hours. Now, let us turn the attention to the fact that my daughter that needs this medication is 18 months old with strep and double ear infections. She - is - miserable. I have been at work since 6 this morning after a night of fever/fought, vomit, shower, change sheets, repeat. Last thing I want to do after after 12 hours of work is sit around and be completely unsure about any of this. It is 20:00 and I just received a call with the excuse that they have a new medical record system and everyone is getting used to it and it wasn’t done on purpose. Full on defense, ZERO apology, though she was polite about telling me why I shouldn’t be angry. If you know there is a new system and you know there may be a higher than normal amount of human/computer input error, someone should be responsible for ensuring everything is checked over. I think the medical field has forgotten due to the general public’s inability to afford the astronomical costs associated with even sick visits these days, that they provide a SERVICE. Just like any other service, no mater how vital to the public, we have choices in where we take our kids. Sadly, I may have to make a change. If my family had to go through this again I’m sure I would immediately.

Was billed for sick visit at a well exam after being asked if I had any questions for our Dr. The front office said we were billed for a sick visit because she *wrote a prescription* there was no prescription written. There was no suggestion given either, I asked if I could give my daughter miralax or if she was too young, Dr said yes. After speaking to a supervisor they will not change it. We will be paying our bill and never going back to a Cook Children's. Bad business practices, very disappointed.

We moved from MS in 2015, and for my family has been a blessing to find doctor Shelby Jacob! She is AMAZING!! My daughters love her!! Claudia her nurse is very kind also! The staff at front desk are very kind and nice! I have to call once during weekend and the nurse that took my call was very nice and helpful!! I never had a bad experience in this office no one has been rude and I never have to wait too long to be call from the waiting room either! Overral my total experience with doctor Jacob and team, has been THE BEST!! Thank you so much Dr Jacob for being the best and for care so much about your patients.

Dr. Amy Phillips is GREAT, and her nurse practitioner. However her front office is the rudest I have ever encountered.

Not sure 5 stars is enough! I’m so grateful for Dr. Jabob and the entire staff at this location. If my babies are sick, they always find a way to get us into the office. They take our concerns seriously and get us in promptly. I wish I could properly express how exceptional Dr. Jacob is with my little ones. She puts them at ease, makes them comfortable, and I can always count on a few giggles - they love her. She is also an incredible educator and resource - this is especially important for me as a mama with younger kids. I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the amazing nurses - Claudia has been a part of our lives since our son was born almost five years ago! She is an angel on Earth - we wouldn’t have survived all those breathing treatments early on with our son had it not been for her! I can confidently say this place is where you and your family need to be!

Went to Dr Davis's office for second opinion regarding our 5 yr old's possible pneumonia. Doctor care was okay, the problem was the front office office manager Kim. We have to pay the first 5,000.00 dollars of medical expenses on our HSA so we call before every visit to verify office visit costs. I was told 80-85 dollars twice, once on the phone and once upon arriving. Went to pay the bill when leaving and was told I couldn't because the printer was down so they would have to bill us. When asked about the cost one more time upon leaving I was told 80-85 dollars. When I got the bill, it totaled 205.00 dollars. When I called to speak with Kim the office manager, she told me it was due to the new patient fee "that everyone knows they have to pay" when visiting a doctor for the first time. When asked why they don't tell patients about it or post it in the office she says "because everyone knows you have to pay this fee". This was news to me since I've never had to pay one at any doctor or dentist we've used and upon challenging her I was called stupid and a liar because EVERY doctor in this area charges it. Not true and she knows it. When escalated to Cook's Children Ft Worth, Kim the office manager told them that she personally remembers telling me about the new patient fee and that the receptionist specifically remembered telling me on the phone and in person and upon leaving about the new patient fee. How can that be if they don't tell anyone in the first place? Why would I or anyone knowingly agree to pay 205.00 dollars for the exact same office visit that only ever costs us 73-75 dollars at any other doctor's office. I was okay with 80-85 dollars due to it being Cook's Childrens. Kim then finally admitted lying to me but told me I had to pay it or else it would be reported to the credit bureau. I paid the 85.00 dollars I was told and will never pay the other amount due to the deceptive and deceitful practice at this location of trying to pad the bill. This is not a money issue but rather an honesty and integrity issue of which I will not be threatened by Kim the office manager. We've used Cook's in Southlake for three of our kid's and trusted them but can only have pity and sadness for this office on Heritage Trace where Kim believes that lying to hide their mistakes is better for the health of this particular practice than owning up to your mistakes. Watch out for the office manager Kim. We love Cook's and what they've done for our kids, but we will never reccommend this office due to the outright deceit of the office manager Kim.

If your new to the area or just looking for a new pediatrician, Dr Davis is awesome! We have been seeing him for 13 years and the kids and I think he's just the best!

Diana

I just recently moved to this location andI couldn’t be happier! The staff is so helpful and welcoming I truly love it but the most important thing to me is how fast they will take my kid in when sick I really appreciate that thank you.

Lauren Richards

ABSOLUTELY LOVE DR. JACOB AND THE NURSE PRACTITIONER STACY :) our baby boy is 1 month and we have been so happy with this office. The ease of scheduling and attention we receive when there have been absolutely perfect and put this new momma at ease. Highly recommend!

Love this office! The staff and providers are so kind and knowledgeable.

My kids have been patients here since the practice was located on Heritage Trace. We love Dr. Souers & her staff. We also love the nurse practitioner, Staci Dickard. But the new doctors and new staff that replaced Dr. Souers and her staff are terrible! They have terrible bedside manners & they don't get the basics of their jobs right. My youngest son caught a stomach bug last week. We were worried that it might have been more serious & mentioned that to his new doctor, Dr. Davis, he rudely said that we needed to stop reading the news and that he was tired of parents coming in worried that their children might be sicker than they really were. My daughter and I caught the stomach bug too & I called the office & the receptionists were very nice and helpful as always. They tried to transfer me to a nurse, but they weren't available. She said that she would take a message and pass it along. I told her that my daughter had the same symptoms as her brother had last week and asked if they could call in some anti-nausea medicine. She repeated what I said and said the nurse would get back to me asap. 2.5 hours later the nurse returned the call & asked what was going on. I repeated what I told the receptionist & the nurse ok she just read the notes. She stated that she would ask Dr. Parikh and get back to me asap. 5 hours later I called again because she never called back. She said Dr. Parikh just let her know that I would have to bring my daughter in for a visit. I made the soonest appointment available and we showed up 20 min early for it. It took an additional 30 min after the scheduled appointment time for us to be called back. The nurse was very matter of fact and not soothing to my 10 year old daughter. Dr. Parikh was very nice when she finally came to check on my daughter. She conducted the exam and stated that she had what her brother had. She would order the prescription and we could go pick it up right after the appointment. We arrived to our normal pharmacy, but it wasn't ordered yet. We went home so my daughter could lay down. 3 hours later I went back to the pharmacy and they said it still wasn't ordered. I had to call the on call nurse and she had to contact the doctor so she could call it in. She was very nice and responsive, so we finally got her medication. I don't know if the new staff and doctors have a learning curve, but I will never subject them to that again. We will definitely miss Nurse Dickard, but we have to find a better healthcare provider than what we experienced over the last week.

I would give zero stars if possible. I moved to the Alliance area and thought this Cook Children’s would be as great as the one we went to where I had previously lived. I was so WRONG! I called to move their wellness appointments and was told that they don’t book that far out and that I should call back closer to their appointment times. Now I need to see a doctor for a sick visit but was told that since they still have appointments at the other office that they are unable to see them at this office. I explain the situation and now they say that I can make their wellness appointments but that the pediatrician I want to see is booked, and I am still unable to get the sick visit scheduled. The office staff is extremely rude and so is the office manager (I think she is the rudest of them all). I cannot express how frustrated and angry I am right now. I am really disappointed in the customer care that this Cook Children’s provides.

Rachel Morris

We use Dr. Davis! We have used him since our 4 year old was a newborn. He sat us down at our first appointment and talked us through all our concerns and reassured us that we were good parents. He doesn't prescribe medication unnecessarily and I feel like he actually knows my children and cares about us! Love this clinic and love this doctor!

Kim M.

We visited Cook’s Children’s Urgent Care on Christmas Day and we were greeted with the most kind staff and that continued until we left. They helped eliminate anything we were concerned about with our child and we were very thankful for their concerns and helpfulness while working on a holiday!

Dr. Jacob is my kid's doctor. She is very good. Very informative, great with our kids. Staff is nice.

June 19, 2018 I called at 4:42pm with a sick 3 yr old that I had JUST picked up from preschool. Not only was the lady that answered the phone empathetic and kind, but a large part of the staff and STACY stayed well past 5pm to accommodate us. This office has gone above and beyond for us! I’m such a happy mom that had meds in hand by 6pm for my little boy. MUCH THANKS TO SUCH AN EFFICIENT FRONT OFFICE STAFF AND STACY FOR STAYING LATE! Me and my 4 children are so grateful for y’all

I just met Dr. Philipp and she is amazing. Not only did she answer my questions, but she also answered my 6 year old daughter's questions. She spoke directly to my 6 year old when she asked routine questions. I felt she was patient with me and my daughter and she really cared. The center was clean and we were in the waiting area less than 5 minutes.

By Friday the best Peditrician we love Dr souers! She is so good with both my girls. The nurses and front desk are so nice. I drive 30 minutes to just see them instead of a clinic 5 miles up the road.

Dr. Davis has been my three boys’ pediatrician for over 7 years. He is great with the kids and thorough in his checkups (which is appreciated by mom). One of my sons was having an unknown physical challenges making it hard for him to play sports due to lethargy. Dr Davis and I agreed on an approach to try and figure out the cause- which we did. We were then sent to a specialist to quickly address. Son is now playing sports again! He has personally talked to me on the phone to check in and his nursing staff is always quick to respond and provide assistance. Highly recommend Dr Davis!

I am the proud grandmother of a premie baby boy and my daughter through word of mouth found this pediatric office. We have had several visits already and have had amazing and awesome experiences!!!! We are sooo happy that we found this place because we are new to this area. The front office, the nurses, and the doctor are phenomenal! Dr. Parikh was sooo wonderful in her treatment of my grand baby and had sooo much patience with all of my daughter and my questions. Thank you all for being there for us! Sincerely, Ruth B.

This has been the best pediatric office by far. We previously were with another office for about a year before we switched to this one and the difference has been amazing. Dr Shelby Jacobs is amazing with my daughter. so much so when I tell my daughter we have an appointment, it is all she talks about all day. She runs to give the nurses and Dr a hug when she sees them.(which should speak millions about this office if a kid is excited to see the Dr) Dr Jacobs has always listened to my concerns and takes my daughters history into account when she plans any treatments. We could not have asked for a better Dr for our daughter.

I wholeheartedly give Dr. Jacob, her nurse Claudia, and the team at Cook Children's five stars! I'm a first time mom to a one month old, and I've had questions about everything and worried about so many things...Dr. Jacob is practical, reassuring, and so loving to my daughter! I love how relaxed our appointments are and how she takes her time to make sure I feel confident about my daughter's growth and health. I've never waited more than 15 minutes or so in the waiting room, and I don't mind waiting a few minutes back in the patient room because I know she's providing quality care to all of her kiddos - just like she does with us. Would highly recommend!

Dr. Sours is great!

Very friendly staff and we love Dr Jacobs! Aside from the shots and tears, great visit today!

Doctors don't seem to stay very long. Been through a couple.

The medical staff are excellent at dealing with child patients, but their billing department is a nightmare to deal with.

Rebecca Lorek

Dr Davis didn’t want to ask questions or even help with the questions I had about how to help my son. Same run around while I’m stuck having to figure out how to help him all alone. Thanks a whole lot. Pushed along like another #. On the search for another doctor that will listen.

We were REFUSED needed vaccinations because we would not consent to my 12 yr old undressing and having her breasts and genitals checked. I can't even begin to explain how appalled I am by this. I asked my daughter if she would be comfortable with such an exam and she said NO. I also said that I was not comfortable with my 12 yr olds breasts and genitals being looked at when there were no concerns on either area and we were only there for a well visit in order to get vaccinations. Dr Phillips had no regard for my concerns and discomfort or my daughter's (the patient). When did it become okay to refuse vaccinations because a parent declines for you to look at her 12 yr olds breasts? As a parent, I should be able to decline services that I feel are not necessary or, most importantly, APPROPRIATE for my child without being retaliated against. And as a patient, my daughter shouldn't be made to do anything that she's not comfortable with. Period. I truly feel Dr Phillips was completely out of line and on a power trip by refusing to give us the vaccinations that are needed by law. This is not the first time I've been unimpressed with her response to my concerns or unwillingness to listen to me as a parent. We are definitely done with this doctor. *Update* I just spoke with the Office Manager and this is Cook's Children's policy in general, not just the one Doctor. So, as a parent, or patient, if you do not feel comfortable with any part of an exam, they will refuse all other service to you. Completely shocked and horrified that an institution thinks they have that much power.

Dr. Jacob's and nurse Claudia are the most wonderful care providers I have ever met. We are always greeted with a smile and feel that they truly care about my children. We rarely have a wait longer than 10 to 15 minutes which is amazing. I have used Cooks Children Heritage location since my first child birth 5 years ago and I have yet to be disappointed. They have always been able to fit my appointments in well or sick as soon as I need them and they always are caring, kind, and welcoming.

I would give 0 stars! If I could and I have children who see excellent specialists with Cooks. However totally opposite experiences with this office, Doctor Shelby Jacobs and the Office Manager in particular. My family has experienced a lot of stress and heartache with this office. Here are a list of just a few personal issues my family experienced with doctor Jacobs office: o We had horrible experience getting Dr. Jacobs to contact us regarding a bump in my daughter’s throat. There is a lot more to this issue, but to sum it up my daughter was seen by Dr Jacobs for this bump and nothing was provided in her release except an order, can’t recall if it was x-ray/blood work. I felt a bit concerned as there was not explanation to why my daughter needed this work done. With my daughter being a type 1 diabetic, I grew overly concerned tried to communicate w Dr. Jacobs via a phone call. After several unsuccessful attempts to get clarification from doctor Jacobs, I ended up taking my daughter to CareNow Urgent Care. In which, I was glad I did because it turned out she had developed another autoimmune disease. o Several times I had to remind the staff what the doctor instructed me to do, specifically with our medication management appointments. . o Not sure if this is common, but all of our previous pediatricians provided us documented care instructions when it concerns continues at home care for illness/medication management o One of my biggest issues was with the prescription refill requests. There were times I would call and submit my verbal request for a prescription refill and when I call back, a few days later, to check on status I was told the request was never entered. I would have to wait another 2 days for the refill o The weight/med check visit process are never the same with my appointments. I had several issues with appointment processes here, booking and overall the entire appointment process flow inconsistencies. It really saddens me to have to write such a negative review, but if my experiences can help identify the need to improve service and processes and help other families then it was worth my time.

My children adore Dr. Davis. In fact, my 5 year old counts down days to well visits and often wears his own Dr coat and stethoscope to visits. Dr Davis has always been wonderful about having conversations with my children to the point that they call him their friend. He always answers all my questions thoroughly and gets us in quickly when we have an issue. My youngest hit his head at daycare last fall and I was very alarmed at the size of the bump. Cooks got us in immediately. I am thrilled with the level of care we receive at cooks heritage.

Amanda Swiatowy

I LOVE Dr. Jacob! She is such a professional! I have two kiddos and she has done a remarkable job with both of them. She took her time getting to know my kids by talking to them and was very thorough when it came to figuring out various problems by looking at their history. The new office is very nice as well. This is a great place to take your kid!

Madden Dickerson

I have a knee issue and they make u walk around the building with multiple children. This is silly. Nobody is there and we pass 10 empty rooms before we reach the room on the opposite side of the building. It wasn't like this last year.

McKensie Montgomery

Dr Davis sees all 3 of my kids and I really have enjoyed having him as their pediatrician. He’s great with the kids and takes time to make sure they are doing well in all aspects of their life. I can ask any questions without feeling rushed or that my opinions are unimportant. I also love the nurses who are very understanding and compassionate when I call with any of my concerns. Thank you Dr Davis, nursing staff and Cook Children’s for taking such great care of our family.

Rachel Howard

I love Cook Children's at Heritage Trace and LOVE Dr Wineriter. We saw her for years but moved outside of DFW so left to go to another pediatrician. After horrible experience after horrible experience we are making the 40 minute drive to see Dr Wineriter again.

With 4 kids we have seen our fair share of different pediatricians. But when we met Dr Shelby Jacob's for the first time we were blown away by her welcoming personality. She is one of the few doctors that takes time and actually listens to the parents thoughts and concerns. We have now been with her for 3 years and even drove back and forth from Tyler TX for a 2 year period we had moved. Her staff has been fantastic with getting us scheduled on short notices. We have even missed appointments by mistake due to our busy life's and not once has anyone been rude about it. The most impressive part for me is when we call with a question or concern Dr Jacob's does her best to be the one to call us back so there is no middle man. I can't speak for every doctor in that office (since we have never been passed off by our Dr) but Shelby Jacob's makes us feel like she is apart of our family.

Brad Griffith

Good luck trying to get any help from the lady that answers the phone. Absolutely horrible cusetomer service.

Becky Williams

As first time parents, we have felt so fortunate to have landed with the Keller office. I cannot speak highly enough of Dr. Jacob, Claudia, Staci and all staff we’ve encountered! It is beyond evident that children’s health and wellbeing (as well as the parents) are tailored to the individual. Grateful and pleased with the patient focus service.

Carmen Fisher

Kimber Campbell

We absolutely LOVE Dr. Jacob and Claudia. It’s a pretty neat thing when they remember patients and their families, because I’m sure they see quite a few in this area. My kids love them, and always feel so comfortable. They take the time to listen to our concerns, whether crazy or not, and never make me silly! We’ve never had a crazy wait time, though we do understand that sometimes that happens and know that they are taking great care of other families as well. The front office staff is always amazing to top it all off! We love y’all!

Erica Norwood

If there were a zero star option, I'd have picked it. The staff is so incredibly and appallingly rude that I actually cried after dealing with them! I have never in my Life seen anyone at a pediatric office treat children with such disregard. These people see dollar signs & Not people. Whatever you do, stay far FAR away from this place! I will certainly NEVER go back! Your establishment disgusts me, & my husband and I will definitely be telling everyone we know.

I’ve been to several pediatric offices with my kiddos and this is by far the best. From the front office staff to every physician, nurse and MA, they have been absolutely wonderful. Courteous, timely, and the office itself is very nice. My kiddos see Dr Davis,he is an exceptional physician. He is a very experienced and kind physician, I trust him with my children’s life. My children have also seen his partners Dr. Jacob, Dr. Phillips, and Stacey, NP and they are exceptional physicians and nurse practitioner as well. His MA Letty is professional courteous and lovely along with the other girls: Claudia, Letty, Dolly, Josie and everyone else we’ve encountered. You can’t beat experience, good care, professionalism, and kindness in healthcare and they’ve got it. I work in healthcare so I recognize when people are doing a great job and they are. I’d recommend them every time.
