No one likes to go to the dentist - in many ways it's a thankless job. But I have to give my thanks to the crew here because they've consistently made sure my anxiety was as controlled as possible during visits. During my last visit, I expected the work to be much more invasive than necessary and had preemptively requested laughing gas to help. Tia, the assistant who has helped me on multiple visits, proved to be an advocate for the patient by letting me know that the procedure was far more minor than I was thinking and I should reconsider the relatively expensive gas. I'm glad I did - she saved me a good deal of money and helped to assuage my fears as we moved forward with the visit. I really appreciate the honesty and concern shown, and the entire staff has always been friendly and caring to me.

I've always had bad and painful dental experiences that I would do anything to avoid the dentist. That is, until I found No Fear Dentistry. They are so accomodating and comforting. They offer so many options for comfort. I even had an opportunity to enjoy a hand massage during a cleaning. I really enjoy how they weren't judgemental and lecturing me about my oral care prior to using this office. I love my dentist and dental hygienist. It's nice to have casual conversations. I feel they are there for me. It's enjoyable to discuss my dental plan without feeling forced or guilt tripped into an option. Dr. Kudlata has helped with my teeth sensitivity, and i couldnt be happier! I would recommend this place over, and over again. I even received a homemade loaf of bread during a visit, which tasted amazing might I add! I now don't fear going to the dentist.

Yes stay away from Mercury.... and the dental association should be sued for all of their lies they to this day hide! Your not Holistic Mercury free is not holistic... ...Snakes! LOVE Madison No Fear Dentistry! My children and I have been going for years but my husband (who hates the dentist) just switched in the last six months really likes them too! His previous dentist was still using old-school techniques (silver fillings and cleaning with tools, instead of composite or pressurized water). One visit with Dr. Ducommun and we set up an action plan to fix his unresolved issues. Quotes for work are given well in advance and are accurate too. They are willing to work with your insurance as to limit your out of pocket expenses (so instead of completing all work this year, we're waiting until after the new year to allow our insurance to reset). My kids enjoy going too - they can watch TV while getting their cleaning done and receive a token for the toy machine at the end. I personally love the warm neck wraps and blankets too! Hands-down, my favorite dentist (and staff)!

I saw Dr. Ducommun who told me I had 8 cavities. Made a big deal that it must have been from my cappuccino habit. I knew there was absolutely no way I had 8 because I had literally 2 my entire life before that and had regular dental care. Got a second opinion and I needed *one* filling for *one* cavity. This was the best dentist experience I’ve ever had! Jasmine and the rest of the staff I interacted with were so genuinely friendly and welcoming, from the moment I walked in the door to the moment I walked out. If there were ever an experiential dental practice, this would be it - I got to watch Friends, with a warm neck wrap on, while my cleaning was happening, and was offered a fresh cookie on the way out. And I was talked OUT of a procedure my last dentist told me I’d definitely have to get done. So if you’re keeping score, I got to watch TV, chill out, and save money (and time....and pain!) while at the dentist. You won’t regret making an appointment!

I have a lot of anxiety at the dentist due to some poor experiences I've had at other dentist offices. My friend recommended Dr. Ducommun because of her positive experiences. I was very apprehensive, but I found they were very accommodating and calming, especially for patients with anxiety like me. Warm neck wraps (with calming oils), a blanket, noise canceling headphones and Netflix, along with laughing gas are how I can deal with the anxiety and no one bats an eye. They are all very helpful and understanding, and I leave feeling great. They even call after each visit to follow up. Oh, and they have fresh cookies! I will always have some anxiety with the dentist, but it's definitely gotten better since I started going there 2 years ago.

I love this place! I have an immune system disorder and was not getting answers or care from my health care provider as to what was going on with my mouth. I couldn't eat food anymore my gums hurt so bad. I saw Dr. Logan and his caring, warm, very professional, knowledgeable, smart staff gave me my answer and all the stress and fear melted away. I just can't say enough about how thoroughly I was cared for and how much I would recommend this place to others. Dr. Ducommun is the best there is in dentistry. He took my unruly, gnarly, stained mess of teeth and recreated a beautiful smile. Traditional dentistry is barbaric, but not with Dr. Ducommun. I've been going to Madison No Fear Dentistry (MNFD) for six years, and have had a variety of dental procedures done as well as routine preventative care. They always do everything possible to make me feel comfortable during every procedure. I trust the dentists to know what to do and how to do it. The dental technicians are great, and the administrative staff friendly and helpful. MNFD has state of the art equipment in a comfortable setting that changes how you will feel about "going to the dentist". If that phrase brings up a feelings of dread and fear for you, try Madison No Fear Dentistry for a more comfortable dental experience that will stop those negative feelings. They know you are a person with teeth vs teeth with a person attached. It makes a difference!

I selected this practice because of the name "No Fear" and all the great reviews. It's been sometime since I've been to a dentist due to bad experiences, so I was prepared to be preached at how bad my teeth were AND I was. Saw Dr. Caitlyn and right away I knew it was not going to be a good visit. She is very judgmental, sarcastic and not gentle, even though I expressed my anxiety. Recommend she take a course in kindness to others. I changed my dentist to Dr. Holsen and he is fantastic! Very kind, gentle and not harsh at all. Very happy with my decision to give the practice another try because overall, everyone is very nice.

Upon entering the dentist office (scared like a little girl) I noticed the amazing smell of something baking! Great idea. Hate the medicine and burning metal smell of a dentist! I was greeted by the friendliest staff and then it was my time to go “the chair”.(EARLY unheard of at anyplace else I’ve been) The hygienist was so sweet and explained everything. They had a great above head video screen where I got to know everyone on staffs favorite hobbies or fun facts. Kept my mind off what was going on! Best experience I’ve ever had at (biting my nails) THE DENTIST!! At checkout I was given a piping hot just out of the oven loaf of bread! This was no scentsy(one of the staff sells Scentsy which I learned on the big screen). This place is the real deal!

I hate the dentist. I haven’t been to the dentist for 12-13 years because I am a chicken. My hygienist was great, I just wish I could remember her name. My gums didn’t hurt at all when done. I asked for nitrous oxide to help me relax, it wasn’t quite enough for me. The hygienist and dentist were trying to get me to relax, but... I couldn’t let myself. Ain't nothing like a little fear to make a paper man crumble.

I do not like going to the dentist, but who does? It gives me major anxiety just thinking about having to go in for a cleaning. I decided to try No Fear Dentistry because of the name, of course, and a good friend's referral. My first experience was okay, but it was just a cleaning. So, to be honest, the jury was still out on if this was the place for me. My second visit, however, involved more intrusive work. . . I had to have four, yes, four cavities filled- thanks to my fear and anxiety that caused a three year dental hiatus. Dr. DeGroot was taking care of my fillings and made me feel comfortable. I was even able to watch an episode of my favorite show on Netflix and as he said, "Check out until the procedure was done." His work was done perfectly, making sure my bite was just right, and even calling me later than evening to check in on me. I couldn't be happier and now I vow not to procrastinate on my dental health needs. Thank you for your great work and dedication to your patients' needs, Dr. DeGroot!

I have not gone to see a dentist for three years mostly because I have always had poor experiences. These included limited doctor interaction, limited explanation on conditions/procedures, and feeling like I was just another "mouth". At No Fear Dentistry, I had none of these negative experiences. I was referred by my mom and her partner who have also received excellent service. I will continue this word of mouth for the practice. The doctor told us that my daughter could eat lunch after filling a cavity. She also got two sealants filled. Before we got to the restaurant, part of one of the sealants came out of her mouth. We needed to come back for a second visit to verify that everything was ok with her dental work. Fortunately they did not charge us for the second visit.

The entire team at No Fear Dentistry is outstanding. From the minute you walk through the door, they are friendly and professional. They take great strides to explain their procedures to you and ensure you're comfortable with the services. Their facilities are state-of-the-art with TVs, noise cancelling headphones, and other devices to take your mind off the work being done in your mouth. After neglecting my oral care for many years in college and afterwards, I decided it was time to go get my teeth looked at once I developed a sensitivity on one of my rear molars and feared it meant my imminent demise. I chose Madison No Fear Dentistry after the recommendation of a coworker, and scheduling the appointment was incredibly quick and easy; I got an appointment within a week. The staff was very professional and courteous, and they were able to determine in the initial visit that the sensitivity was not life-threatening, and it was a bite occlusion that they remedied on the same visit. The office has a welcoming atmosphere, the staff is amazing, and you never feel as if you are being scolded or lectured when you visit. All the dentists there care immensely about your health and well-being, so you always know that they have your best interests in mind. I have no reservations recommending them to anyone looking for a dentist in the Madison area.

I've had work done with Dr. Kevin and it was wonderful. He removed all the old metal fillings I've had since I was a teenager and that's great. No more temperature sensitivity, the silver/mercury fillings are gone and my teeth look all natural. I also had a cap fall off and they squeezed me in the same day. If you are at all nervous about going to the dentist, you should definitely check out Madison No Fear Dentistry. The staff are so friendly and genuinely get to know you and your preferences. Making sure you're comfortable and informed is their priority. I was anxious about having a wisdom tooth taken out and they never made me feel dumb for being nervous as an adult. With fantastic staff, warm neck wraps and Netflix to watch on the ceiling (plus a little laughing gas) I made it through no problem! I came in for an initial consultation and cleaning and this was by far my most pleasant experience at a dental office I’ve ever had! The whole staff was super friendly and helpful, the atmosphere was modern with a positive vibe. The whole process was explained in detail and I felt completely comfortable the whole time (the warm neck pillow and option to listen to music or watch Netflix was a nice touch ) My hygienist and dentist took the time to get to know me and we even joked around a bit. I was asked questions about my dental/smile goals that my past dentist never asked and we went over a step by step plan to reach my goals. First thing: I hate dentists. Well, going to the dentist anyway. Given that, it means something when I say that Dr Ducommun is amazing. He is personable, competent, kind, and has many connections to the community, if you need referrals for anything. We have three kids now in their early twenties, and have been coming to Dr Dave since he was still in Middleton: only positive experiences, even with the kids from age three or so on up to twenty-two. Great staff, beautiful facilities; they bake bread and cookies, and often give us the freshest loaf to come out; the place doesn't even have that "dentist smell". The Only negative is the parking lot at this newer location. The spaces are quite tight, even with a tiny Kia Soul. They obviously needed to get an extra spot or two in. You have to be careful both in parking, and in pulling out. Seriously though, it's nothing compared to the positives of a dentist you can actually look forward to seeing. Kudos specifically also to Mike, the hygienist. Wow.

No one likes getting the bill but getting it 5 months after having already paid over 1k is ridiculous. The billing agent was kind enough to let me know that the insurance money I paid was just a quote and "as a courtesy they process the insurance for me but can't be sure how much the insurance will approve." I'm not pleased getting an even worse bill months later and hearing that excuse. The dentist was good however, the reason why they get so many stars. HAVE NO FEAR - they will get their money! (months later and after having attempted to make themselves look better by basically saying "well we could of burned you better by making you pay up front.")

Easily the best dental experience I've ever had. I've had nothing but negative dental visits at other dentists throughout my life, and believe it our not, this one was pain free and beyond expected professional. Dr. Caitlin Kudlata was attentive to my fears about the procedure, and removed my lower molar with near zero pain. She was informative, and easy to communicate with, and though younger, seemed wise beyond her years as a dentist and person in general. I will definitely return, and can honestly say this is the only positive dental experience I've ever had. I will not have any anxiety what so ever over return to the care of Dr. Kudlata and her professional and personable staff. Speaking of staff, the staff has been excellent in both my initial visit and my visit for my extraction. The hygenists are very personable and listen well. They also explain things thoroughly to help you feel at ease. They offer you headphones, and various relaxation methods, though I just wanted the basic straight forward extraction. I was treated like an an individual patient and not a series of numbers, which goes a long way. I'll definitely return to have future work done by this dentist and her team. If you are anxious, I advised voicing openly and honestly all your concerns to the team and dentist before hand, and you'll likely be made at ease. These people are top of the line!

Came to Madison No Fear Dentistry to have a broken crown repaired because my current dentist couldn't find the time to get it done. In the end I was very glad it worked out that way, as this is the best dental practice I've ever encountered. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating, and were able to schedule a SAME DAY consultation and temporary crown to get things underway without delay. Dr. DeGroot in particular is an absolute pro. Super thorough in his examination, and outstanding procedural skills. I seriously never felt a thing, and love the new crown. I will be shifting care for my whole family to this practice.

Today I had my first appointment at Madison No Fear Dentistry and I had a great experience. My hygienist, Mallory, did a fantastic job introducing me to the place and made me very comfortable for my cleaning. I was able to kick back and watch Netflix while she cleaned my teeth. I could not be more disappointed with Madison No Fear Dentistry. The hygienist and the Dentist were very nice and my first exam was done thoroughly. Everything after that has been a case study in poor customer service. I need to have my wisdom teeth pulled so they referred me to an oral surgeon in Janesville that was part of my insurance. After I discovered my insurance was not going to cover any of the extractions I asked for a referral to a dental surgeon closer. Apparently that is not a task the people in the front desk can handle. I communicated with them over 10 times via email and phone calls. Each time I was told that they would do the referral or that they already did, each time the referral was not done, now they will not respond to my emails at all. So I wasted the $200 for the exam because now I need to get a first exam at another dentist to get the referral. Total waste of my time and money.

My first experience was in regards to a chipped tooth. My dentist prior to Dr. David would try to sell me veneers every time I was there. I got sick of the sales pitch and the financing offers. After my first consultation with Dr. David, he stated that if I'm still playing hockey I will probably chip that tooth again. He saw no point in spending the extra cash on veneers. Madison no fear dentistry was great. Very clean and big and all the staff was wonderful.. the reason for 3 stars is i was charged 120 for a look at my tooth which is severely cracked and infected and i get surgery on it in a week but i was offered no type of pain medicine to help with the sharp pain in my jaw all the way up to my ear. Other than that tho, the dentist was great and so was her staff.

Dr. Ducommun utilized a small amount of laughing gas as the analgesic and it worked like a charm. My 4 year old had no pain, she never even made a peep and it was all over before her show! Not only do I always get great service here, but more importantly they know what they are doing with insurance. Dental insurance can be so confusing, and they called me prior to my appointment and pointed out things with my insurance provider that I had no idea about and really saved me some time and money. Best dentist around! I have so many wonderful things to say! I hadn't been to a dentist in 20 years and these guys made it possible for me to get back to good oral health. I now take my children here also! My daughter says, if you come home from the dentist and you're smiling, you need to always go to that dentist! They are so kind and they actually care! I was extremely nervous to have a debridement done because it had been so long since I'd had my teeth cleaned. My husband had this done at a different dental office and had a lot of pain for this same procedure. Madison no fear dentistry used numbing mouth rinse that is locally made just for them along with nitrous and the debridement didn't bother me at all. My next appointment was a culotte up regular cleaning and then a couple appointments to take care of cavities and even need a crown which freaked me out, BUT they treated me so well and I felt NOTHING! I've had some very negative experiences with dentists and starting with a new dentist frequently makes me very anxious. I agree with previous review, I was not interested in a tour of the office, nor did I want to discuss my personal life. I had one tech that was amazing and one that was less than helpful. I was able to clearly express my anxiety and preferences. I made it through extensive amalgam replacement, crown replacement and cavity repair with a few bumps. My initial replacement crown broke in pieces the first time I tried to chew and the 2nd temp had a sharp edge. There was a valiant attempt to repair, but to no avail. Final product is great, however, and my bite feels wonderful. Teeth are still sensitive to temperatures, but that was always the case.

I’ve been going to MNFD for a while now and normally have a good experience. Dr. Kevin and Dr. Caitlyn have been really good. Unfortunately the last couple visits haven’t been the greatest. Dr. Bob put in fillings and one of the fillings broke off right away, one tooth throbbed for months and eventually had to get an emergency root canal out of network. A week ago I called in a lot of pain ( couldn’t eat or drink anything on one side of my mouth). I was told they couldn’t get me in for week. I informed them I also needed a crown. They made the appointment for today. I get there and they diagnose what they think is causing the pain, but then they tell me they don’t have time to put on the crown. The pain and crown were the entire reason for today’s appointment (that I took off of work for). I still have pain in the tooth and nothing was done to correct the problem. I’m extremely angry about this time wasted and miscommunication and it will still be several weeks of pain until this tooth can be fixed.
