The front desk and check out desk staff were helpful and clear, the dental team was welcoming, professional, and thorough, and the office was clean, bright, and child-friendly. The little one loves this place, and she actually gets a little excited about going to the dentist! They do a great job at making her super comfortable from the beginning (TV and iPad in the waiting lounge), to the end (prize and ballon for doing a great job). I love that they are super organized and efficient for the adults, too.

Both of my kids used to be terrified of going to the dentist. We switched to Alexandria Children's Dentistry from another pediatric practice two years ago and it has made all the difference. The hygienists and dentists are all so patient and understanding with my kids. They have helped my kids work through their anxiety, and now neither of my children are scared when it comes time for their check-ups.

They are so professional and accustomed to working with kids. No matter which hygienist my son gets they all take the time to show my child what they are about to do, showing him instruments,etc. This puts him so at ease. Also the facilities and process (i.e. there is a child sized tv room/cave that my son loves - we actually come early to spend some in there) Also after a cleaning your child gets his choice of two stickers and a toy and after the dentist sees him/her they get a gold coin to place into a machine to get a bouncy ball. My son actually looks forward to going to the dentist. Thanks ACD!

My son has been going to Dr. Angela since his first dental visit.... We absolutely have loved this practice since being referred by another mommy friend whose children are also patients... it's very kid friendly and on this particular visit as a working mom I was able to use the free wifi and get some work done too while my son's teeth were being cleaned literally right beside me! Now that's exceptional customer service without the mommy guilt.... There are tablets with games for the kids....cubby areas for kids to play, read and/or relax while they're in the waiting room....the decor, modern colors, and kid-friendly feel and focus on the children's needs make this dental practice ideal for children....all the staff are great and Dr. Angela has the most pleasant smile and demeanor that is consistent across everyone in the Alexandria Children's Dentistry....I've experienced this same level of customer service at both locations! Even us parents can't help feeling calm and relaxed when we enter the doors of this dental practice....another safe haven for our children...I wish they took adults too...

Dr. Austin and the entire staff have made coming to the dentist a joy for my three children. We are always seen in a timely manner and provided with great instructions for managing their dental health. My 8 yo son's anxiety about an extraction was quickly quelled by Dr. Austin's soothing bedside manner. The office is clean and cheerful and I'd highly recommend the practice for anyone in need of pediatric dentist.

My 6 yr. daughter and I had a bad experience about a year ago at a dentistry in the area, so about 3 weeks ago I began googling pediatric dentistries in Alexandria and found this place I began reading the reviews and decided to go for it. I called, booked the appt. for my daughter and went in feeling a bit nervous. The place was clean, organized and kid friendly they have books for kids, tv, toys, made my daughter feel comfortable and the staff was great, very kind and caring. I waited maybe 10 min before My daughter got called (in my opinion it's reasonable) and her experience was great thanks to the staff who really know how to interact with kids and make them feel less nervous and Dr. Angela was great! I would definitely recommend this place to any parent. I'm happy I found this place!

Man do we miss this practice....my husband is military so unfortunately we had to relocate BUT I still travel and bring the kids to ACD for any restorations or any dental issues they may have..this will always be the best dental office I've ever been too,they actually care. This place is amazing - it really is entirely tailored for children, which automatically makes it easier for parents too. The office staff was incredibly helpful in setting us up as new patients, transitioning our care, and making sure I didn’t have to fill out a ton of paperwork in office. My kids LOVED their visit, learned a lot about dental health, and CAN’T WAIT to go back for their next visit!

I recently took both my children to Alexandria Childrens Dentistry located in Del Ray and had such an amazing experience. My children are not keen on going to see the dentist, but when we left our appointment, they couldn't stop talking about how nice Dr. Angela was and going to the dentist is not so bad after all. The office is very clean and kid friendly and the staff were all amazing and professional! We were seen immediately after checking in and my childrens' treatment went flawlessly. So pleased to finally find a dentistry that fits our needs. Thank you Dr. Angela for your professionalism and we will see you again soon!

I took my son to his first appointment at the Del Ray office because we had heard good things from neighbors. We had our first appointment in March 2018. I didn't have time to finish the paperwork before we were called back for our cleaning, and was told it would be filled in later. The appointment was fine and we went to checkout where I ACCURATELY provide the rest of my contact information. I was told I would receive additional information in the mail, and scheduled another appointment for 6 months later (note: received nothing). Fast forward to 6 months later, we received no confirmation phone call but went in for the appointment as scheduled (Friday October 5). When we arrived, I was told that there is no longer a dentist in the Del Ray office on Mondays and Fridays, and that they had emailed and called me regarding a reschedule, but I never responded. Turns out they did not have my correct phone number, nor did they have my correct email address (if they would have actually compared my email to my name, they probably could have figured it out!). They did, though, have my correct mailing address. I asked why they did not send a notice to the mailing address, and was told that "it is not their policy." Thus, I took time off work and dragged both my 3 year old and my 1 year old to the office instead of daycare as usual, only to get there and be told that they just cancelled my appointment without one last attempt to contact me by mail. Worst of all, I had hyped the visit to my 3 yr old who now thinks that the dentist didn't want to see him because he was bad. (Keeps saying he has to say sorry to the dentist, although I've corrected him and told him it's the other way around.) With all of the kids in the Del Ray neighborhood, it's outrageous that this office does not have a doctor in the office at least 4 days per week. (Yeah, I know... they have a dr in one Saturday a month... big whoop.) I'm glad they work so hard they constantly need three day weekends. Customer service was seriously lacking and we will obviously not be returning. It wouldn't have taken much for these people to go above and beyond. UPDATE: Thanks for your opinion Sara, and next time I will say "your business" instead of "you people." Offering a same day appointment for an hour and a half later at another office out of our way when the children needed to get to school and I back to work was not going above and beyond to rectify the situation. It was the minimum, and would have created even more inconvenience. But I will admit that your office manager was apologetic and did what she could do. It's too bad she and we were put in that situation to begin with. I see from other yelp reviewers that it is not the first time your business has received complaints about poor customer service. Also, if you truly wanted to rectify this you would have called me personally to apologize and ask that maybe I would revise my review. However, I will let your reply speak for itself. I brought my 8 year old son here after our family dentist found three cavities. I was so nervous for him. But the entire staff was so calming (for both of us...lol). The atmosphere was perfect and relaxing. He had zero anxiety through x-Ray's, and a crown placement. He didn't even know he had a needle. They were really good about explaining everything to him and I am really surprised at how stress-free the experience was. He's not even nervous about returning for the other side in a few weeks. Absolutely amazing all around. Thank you!

My daughter absolutely loves Dr. Angela and her staff. They are friendly, efficient, and absolutely caters to the young ones. The Del Ray office is perfect for kids to enjoy a movie, games on an iPad, and read books. Treats are given afterwards which my daughter always looks forward too. Definitely a nice modern office. Parking is on the street but it has never been a problem.

From the moment you enter the door until you check out at the end Alexandria Children's Dentistry delivers!!! My daughter loves going to the dentist there b/c all the staff and doctors are super professional and caring. They go the extra mile to make sure children feel comfortable and have fun! They have iPads in and a Children's theatre in the waiting area. Once you're in the back you are asked what your child wants to watch on ceiling tv as they lay back to get their cleanings and exams. My daughter was so into watching her movie that she didn't even mind. When checking out kids are given a token for the bouncy ball machine, stickers, a toy, a balloon...my daughter was SO excited! They were so open to taking pics with children...yes I'm THAT mom-- and I have posted a few here so you can see her experience:) I'm very picky and I would pick this practice over and over again! DEFINITELY make your appointments! Oh and they have two offices -- one near Landmark area and the other in Del Ray--that's super helpful too!

My 3 year old loved it so much she asked if we could come back again and visit ACD. The staff were super patient and friendly. I'd highly recommend this office to anyone looking for a pediatric dentist.

Typically I am happy with the service and the care that they take of my child's teeth but with the issue that I just had with them as far as scheduling has really deterred me from this office. The employees that I dealt with at that location names were Sarah and Shea and they seemed so nochanlant that they scheduled me wrong and their only answer was reschedule or go to the other office ..... I'm here at the other office ( landmark) and they got me in and out rather quickly and did a great job .... I will be coming to the landmark location from now on. Already hated dealing with the parking at that location

Going to Alexandria Children's Dentistry like going to Disney world! My kids (ages 7,5,&,4) have been going since they turned 18months, and every 6 months, they are excited about going to the dentist and have positive feelings about the dentist in general. The staff is always super and great with the kids. I've recommended multiple families to ACD and all have been extremely satisfied with the experience.

Took my 2 year old for her first dentist appointment. Front desk was super friendly and made my daughter feel welcome. Waiting room had iPads and was showing a movie which my daughter loved. Our hygienist was Vanessa and she was so friendly and patient while my daughter cried through her cleaning. They have TVs on the ceiling to help distract the kids. Didn't work for my 2 year old, but I'm sure they'll distract her more when she's older. Dr. Lara gave her the exam and was also friendly, patient, and thorough. My daughter loved that she got to visit the prize chest, pick out two stickers, and got a balloon and a bouncy ball at check out. My daughter thought it was fun and I felt good about the care they gave her. We will return!

Both locations are awesome! Their two locations offer convenience which parents love. Kids love it because of the fun atmosphere! Who has a movie theater in their dentist office?! The goodies they offer the children is a great touch at the end of a visit. They make going to the dentist fun for kids. The staff is very knowledgeable and are able to explain what is going on in lame terms for anyone who hasn't gone to dentistry school could understand. Highly recommend!

We love going to the Del Ray office! My 5 and 3 year olds love the waiting room and the free goodies they get each time (especially the balloon and bouncy ball!). We always recommend them to friends!

Do not go here if your child has any anxiety with dental procedures. They are terrible communicating with both the parent and child about what they are doing. Our 4 year old child needed a simple cavity taken care of with nitrous oxide and we were immediately alarmed when we were told in the waiting area that the parent should not accompany the child during the procedure. We had to ask 4 times that we be allowed back with our son because we knew he wouldn't handle being without us. After a 30 minute lobby wait and an extra 10 minutes wait after insisting we go back (why the extra time when they were ready to take him alone immediately?) once in the procedure room, they turned on a loud movie and proceeded to put the nitrous oxide mask on our child without first explaining what was going to happen. Further, they did not give our child a choice of "scents" which we verified they did have afterwards, despite his initial complaint that it smelled bad, which led to more anxiety. And our child never had the opportunity to hear from the dentist what the treatment plan was that day. Obviously, our already anxious child did not take to the "sneaky" approach and refused further attempts at the mask. We have never had this issue at our previous dentist because they were kid friendly by explaining exactly what was going to happen and even practicing beforehand with our son. We discussed our concerns with office management and a very disagreeable tech and were promised a callback from the dentist. Of course we never received.

Top Notch Experience & Care. Dr. Angela & her staff make you feel like they care. They were a few minutes late for our appointment and gave me a gift card to Starbucks for my trouble. I had hardly noticed the delay, but this level customer service is rare. I've also previously received a mother's day cookie. So glad Dr. Angela moved closer to DC.

I can't say enough good things about this place. Their ability to make a 2 year old comfortable enough for a teeth cleaning and exam is amazing. And Dr. Arpi is great with kids and just as great explaining things to parents. Our experience here has been like night and day compared to another children's dental practice in the area.
