They are the worst! First, they make you wait in the waiting room for about 1 or 1 1/2 hours then you finish about 1 1/2 or 2 hours later. And plus the break your teeth and make you get fillings every time you go. They don't tell you about some and don't fix them and you might just end up having a root canal and the thing is I'm not the only one that happen to some of my friends too. I wouldn't be writing this if it was my first time. First time it happen to me I thought It was my fault second and third and a few more but this is like my 8th or something but whose keeping track but thing is ITS EVERY! TIME I GO! DONOT GO! If your planning on going find another dentist. If you have an appointment cancel it and you won't regret it not even a bit.

BEWARE! I went here last May and had a good initial experience with the dentist. He was thorough and answered all my questions, but I was surprised when he told me I had 8 cavities. I do a regular cleaning every year and haven't had cavities since I was a kid, and I'm very on top of my oral hygiene. I wasn't able to afford the fillings at the time and waited. I recently moved to another area and saw another dentist for my routine cleaning and to fill the cavities, but I was told I had ZERO cavities. The dentist double checked each of my teeth and went over the X-ray to show me there were no signs of any cavities. Looking through the other reviews on here and Yelp I see that this is not the first time this has happened. If something seems odd about your exam get a second opinion. Better yet, go somewhere else.

7/3/2015 I scheduled an 11:00 appointment for my three year old twins. I was told to arrive early to fill out paper work, which I did. We arrived at 10:45am. The front desk receptionists were very professional and friendly. We were called back an hour in a half later which the hygienist took care of us right away. She was very hand zone and informative. After she completed cleaning their teeth, we sat for almost another hour, which different staff members were coming in the room getting different things. When the dentist finally came to see us, I was more than irritated. He sat down and started working not even introducing himself. I didn’t like the fact that it’s open for everyone to see what’s taking place and I also didn’t like the fact that they kept talking to one another for different reasons. They also talked about another individual case while they were working on my child. He was not informative but he did do well as far as making my children comfortable. I did not leave the dentist office until 1:35. It was a very long day.

I brought two of my children to Smiley Dental last week. My youngest was just turning three and this was her first appt. We have some difficulty just brushing her teeth at home so I was nervous about potential problems. We were brought back quickly and they started cleaning my son's teeth first (he is a pro) then they brought my daughter over. She was very resistant at first but Dihn was an amazing hygienist. He was patient, flexible (she sat on my lap), and gentle. He bribed her with stickers and promises of rewards. By the time Dr. Smiley arrived, my daughter was smiling, talking and the perfect patient for having her teeth checked for cavities and getting a fluoride treatment. I wish I could give five stars but I have had times I have waited for over an hour to have my children cared for and have mixed results from other dentists in the practice. However, this visit was wonderful. Thank you.

Filled out the paperwork 3 weeks ago. Called and emailed a few times to see if they got it and put it in the system. Got there today, lost paperwork, not in the system. Paperwork was found finally, but was asked to fill it out again for some reason. 3 weeks is more than enough time to complete a task as a business.

My son has Autism and is not fond of anything in this world mouth other than food and straws. They communicate greatly and are very sweet. Dr Smiley is awesome she checks his teetch very good to make sure he has no cavitites. Ovaerall great clinic.

I haven't had a bad experience with Smiley Dental... The staff has been nice and there is one hygenist I absolutely love and she is the only one I will allow to touch my teeth. The only thing I did not like is an additional filling that was given I did not want and was double the money I wasn't going to spend.. I was supposed to spend 70 dollars for 1 white filling and they did two and it came out to 140 dollars... I have yet to pay this amount because I am disabled. I do not have a problem with this clinic. I will go again in the future if I need dental

This is the worst dental office I have ever had the misfortune of visiting. There is no sense of organization or professionalism to be found there. I had two visits, and both times I had to deal with completely unhelpful and hasty hygienists. I spend 90% of both visits (2-3 hours) waiting for the dentist to become available to work on my mouth. He carried on multiple personal conversations with employees for the duration of working on me. HE EVEN HAD A PERSONAL CELL PHONE CONVERSATION WHILE EXTRACTING TWO OF MY TEETH. He did all of this shamelessly and without any apology. When I returned to the office to complain, they kept me waiting for at least 15 minutes. During this wait, I saw multiple customers lied to by the staff. The customers were asking to speak to the dentist, who was in his office, but the customers were told that he was on vacation, out of the office. Finally when Dr. Smiley came out to talk to me, he avoided almost all responsibility for my bad experience, admitting only that he had been "very busy" that day. He even made up silly excuses for why he needed to leave the room, during my complaint, in order to talk privately with another employee about my complaints. This office is extremely scatter-brained and unprofessional, with family members working together who are only interested in watching out for each other and making excuses for the mistakes they make. The customer is the one who pays for their incompetency. My jaw permanently cracks with discomfort as a result of Dr. Smiley's hasty and shoddy work. Contact me and I will personally convince you of why to NEVER VISIT SMILEY DENTAL ASSOCIATES.

I just love my all black and beautiful dentist atmosphere..my kids get treated so well and the African decor is to die for..we always get seen at a timely fashion so being on time helps you get taking care of in a timely fashion I also live in lavergne and dont mind the drive for my kids to feel comfortable and stable

I had an end of the day appointment with two preschoolers. The business is set up to handle pediatric patients in a special section and give the kids nice incentives for taking care of their teeth and having a cooperative appointment. The hygienist was receptive to my child's needs and even allowed him to keep watching my smartphone during his cleaning to make the appointment a breeze. I will happily return to this practice.

I can excuse any one of the listed faults - but this place had all of the following in just one visit: was 20 minutes early to do new patient paperwork and still was not brought back until 1.5 hours after my appointment time; worst hygenist I've ever been too, rude and incompetent, dug her inch long nails into my skin and was hit in the face several times with instruments; Dentist started giving me information about my jaw that was incorrect reguarding TMJ (i know it's wrong becuase I treat TMJ patients in my field). Now I'm desperately trying to find another dentist so my husband doesn't have to suffer through this experience !!

Every time I bring my children for their routine cleaning they do NOT have an exam done, but they want to schedule them for a return visit to have work done. How is that if you don't exam their teeth? There's always an excuse as to why they didn't get to do the exam! This visit the doctor didn't have time. Really!!! Needless to say I'm looking for a new dentist.

Dr. Eric Oates is not the worst dentist I have ever used, but the experience I've had at Smiley was lukewarm. Once I got a filling and it required a follow up visit because it wasn't done correctly the first time. Second, Dr. Oates is not good to treat a patient with implants. I recently had a loose abutment screw which results in a loose crown on the implant. Dr. Oates told me the implant itself was moving (untrue). Further, Dr. Oates refused to work on it. He suggest I go to a specialist (oral surgeon) to have the crown cut off the abutment, and the specialist said this is something a dentist needs to perform (I agree with the specialist). Finally, I consulted another dentist, and he repaired the abutment/crown without removing it! My new dentist simply tightened down my abutment/crown and now the implant is restored for only $50. Dr. Oates was suggesting a procedure that would have cost approximately $1000. Dr. Oates must be trained to work with implants in order to be a successful dentist in the 21st century.

I hardly ever write reviews about anything, but I felt moved to do so after my recent experience at Smiley. We had scheduled an appointment for my 3 year old daughter to have 2 cavities filled. We called over and over the day before to confirm the appointment, and were never able to reach anyone - just the generic voicemail. When we showed up at 8:45 AM for our 9:00 AM appointment (our daughter hadn't eaten since the night before, as we followed the pre-procedure instructions..), we signed in and sat down. 10 minutes later, they called me to the front desk to tell me that her Dentist wasn't there, and was actually off all week, but that another non-pediatric Dentist could perform the work. They were also going to change the numbing medication to something other than what had previously been discussed. My whole point in writing this is that the lack of communication on this whole ordeal is baffling to me. Very unprofessional. It seems they would have called first thing in the morning to let us know about the primary dentist being gone, or better yet, maybe even the week before? To top it off, they had a very nonchalant attitude about the whole situation. Anyone who has a kid (and both parents work) can understand our frustration. Sorry Smiley, but based on our experience, you get 2 thumbs down.

Smiley Dental Office was GREAT!!! The staff here is awesome. Everyone is friendly from the front desk woman Laura was very beautiful and nice and very helpful , the assistants, hygienists were amazing . They made my kids feel comfortable and they were able to do what they needed to do. I was worried about their initial visit because it was the first time they've been to the dentist. But they did a great job interacting and letting my kids know what they were doing each step of the way, assuring them that everything is going to be OK. A very organized office with great staff. My kids actually enjoyed going to the dentist. All the rooms are decorated with a nice fish tank and looks amazing

I visited this dentist four years ago. At the time, they told me I had 5 cavities to be filled. Now mind you, I had two filled two months prior, so I thought this was odd. So I never went back. Fast forward to two days ago, I saw a new dentist for the first time since I visited them. I had ONE cavity to be filled and a couple of areas to watch. ONE...FOUR YEARS LATER. So just be careful. Get a second opinion if something sounds off.

I have been a patient of this office since I was a Lil girl. My 2 oldest kids have been going here since they were younger. They are now getting ready to be 12 & 9. Never had a issue until last year. As a single mother of multiple kids I now have 4 kids. I myself work in a doctors office and for my kids to receive dental work, I have to take off work to bring them. The dental work takes all day. Today I took off like I normally do to take my oldest and 3rd child in. I was told when I got there I needed another adult that both could not have the medicine that makes them sleepy. It’s for there safety is what they said. Never have I ever needed another adult present while my kids get work done. I either took them to the car myself or they help. It’s already a inconvenience i have to take off a whole day but tell me I have to bring 1 child at a time is ridiculous. Dr. Smiley was not present at the time, I was told she will be in, in a few mins never showed. Previously I was asked by Dr. Smiley why it’s taking so long over the last few years to get my kids work done on their mouth. I replied because I am a single mother and I can’t keep taking off to bring each child. She replied, we can make it work for you and you bring 2 at a time. Today I go it’s a problem. I asked to have Dr. Smiley to call me as soon as she got in, called several times she still wasn’t there. It is now after 1pm they are closed. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND INCONSIDERATE AND WILL NOT ACCOMMODATE SINGLE PARENTS‼️

I can't hardly bring myself to give them even one star. By far the worst dental experiences I've ever had. Be prepared to wait at minimum an hour each time and at least an hour to have your x-rays, teeth cleaned, and assessment by the dentist. I get conflicting reports from the different dentist I see each time, one says I have no cavities, the other says I have 12 (and no that is not an exaggeration). Terrible customer service, terribly run practice, terrible all the way around.

Horrible front desk staff. Told they had no appts for weeks. Called back & spoke to another staff member & got in the next Monday. However, they Told me to arrive at 815 for my 830 appt. Unfortunately, the 2 front desk women wouldn’t open the door for me at 830! Called twice & they wouldn’t answer the phone either. As I stood outside freezing, I could see both of them at the front desk. I wouldn’t waste your time like I did.
