We've been happy with American Family Dentistry for more than two years. The team is thorough, yet very efficient. Their office is convenient from anywhere within Franklin or Brentwood and I love that they open early for before school or work appointments. Five stars.

Billing is a huge problem at this place. They can't complete the forms correctly when submitting an insurance claim so the claim is rejected by your insurance. You'll spend more time on the phone with your insurance company and their billing clerk than you will at your appointment.

I have been at this practice for years but am trying to be better at leaving reviews since I personally read them all the time. The main reason I have been here so long quite honestly is that there is no wait time. They are very efficient with their scheduling. If my appointment is for a cleaning at 1pm, it starts at 1 and I'm back in my car by 1:30. I love that I have the same hygienist each time (Katie). She is very sweet and does a great job. I have never ever felt like they are pushing a procedure on me to make money (had that happen at a different practice in the past). I have only had 1 or 2 cavities filled/replaced in my years here but they have always done a great job.

The first and only time I've been openly lied to and given bogus information from a medical practice. First, there was the deliberate overcharging for services that insurance had already paid for. After continually insisting in a very rude manner that I still owed them, they finally reluctantly admitted (after I showed them proof from insurance) that they in fact owed ME a refund! Secondly, they informed me after a checkup that I needed a multitude of fillings. After I switched to another dentist (partially because of the atrocious manner of the front desk when dealing with the insurance issue), they told me (after careful inspection and another full-mouth x-ray) I only needed one filling! My new dentist was quite surprised to see the treatment plan AFD had written up for me. The best thing I did was leaving. Can't imagine all the healthy teeth that would've been drilled into and the money that would've been wasted had I stayed.

Katie does a great job cleaning my kids teeth! They always get a good report and we are in and out in 25 minutes or less. We live in Smyrna, but travel to Brentwood because they provide such good care. I would recommend them to anyone!

Be prepared to call insurance company and AFD office multiple times to deal with the Billing problems. They need to realize and fix the claim process.

The crown I received after a root canal did not fit correctly. There was way too much space between the crown and the gum causing me a lot of discomfort. I expressed my concern only to be told it would "settle in" and feel like a normal tooth. After only a few months the crown came off and I explained to the dentist once again the discomfort I was experiencing. He stated that it was because of the tooth next to it and glued the same crown back in my mouth. I moved and changed my dentist. After a set of x rays showed the defective crown, I immediately called Cool Springs Family Dentistry. I called several times before being able to speak with LouAnn (the manager). She assured me that if my present dentist would send her an email copy of the x rays then she would make sure I was reimbursed for the defective crown. She has refused my calls ever since - having a front desk assistant relay to me that the $200 check has been sent. I paid much more than $200. The check was supposedly sent at the beginning of November and I have still not received the check. I have since been to my other dentist for a replacement crown and she is night and day different to what I experience at Cool Springs. I will never go back there again and my hope is that nobody does.

It took them 10 months and 20+ phone calls to send pre-operative x-rays to my insurance company. On top of it, they are saying that they will take some more of my money because their write-off policy states that if the insurance company overpaid they will write off a lower amount. This dentistry sucks! I have never been to a worse, unorganized, unresponsive dentistry. Only when it comes to taking my money they are quick to react.

My experience with American Family Dentistry to date has been a very positive one. The office staff is courteous, efficient, and most helpful. The dental assistant knows what she's doing and does it well, and Dr. Jeffrey Moore is beyond compare. I'm grateful he's still in the area. The office and the restroom are comfortable and clean.
