I just had my six month checkup and cleaning at Dental Essence on 03/28 and I couldn't be happier. It is interesting how much I look forward to going to the dentist. It all starts as soon as I open the door and I am welcomed by Mika. She immediately knows who I am and welcomes me with a smile, but she has known my name since my very first visit, which was at least 5 years ago. Next, Sara, comes and gets me from the waiting room, where I tell her I've been sitting forever, but it has actuallly only been about two minutes. I love giving Sara a hard time because she can dish it back when she gets me in the chair! All through my cleaning, Sara and I discuss all kinds of topics and we are both interested in what each of us have been doing over the past six months since my previous visit. She usually asks questions and knows just when to pull out the suction so I can respond. After my cleaning, Meaghan, who is just as pleasant to speak with as everyone at Dental Essence, will come in and check my teeth to make sure that I do not have any problems. Luckily I don't and haven't for years, but this is to their great credit! They always ask each time if I have been brushing at least twice a day and flossing once a day. Before going to Dental Essence, I brushed my teeth, but I did not floss very often. Ever since I have started going there, I find myself striving to make them proud of my oral health. I think this is all thanks to the team at Dental Essence for making me feel like a member of their family. I would highly recommend for anyone looking for a dentist to make an appointment at Dental Essence. I am sure you will begin to look forward to going to the dentist as I now do! My 2 daughters and I have been going here for a few years now. I just love the whole group. From the receptionists to the dentists and everyone in between. They do their best to make you comfortable. I have a terrible gag reflex so when I needed dentures I knew it was going to be awful. The Dr. Megan was amazing. As well as her nurse. They were very patient and helped me learn techniques to combat the gag reflex. I highly recommend them for adults and children alike.

I had a front tooth that was continually breaking. Dr. Meghan crowned it 3 years ago and it’s been perfect ever since! If you have dental insurance, this place provides basic, adequate care, although some of the staff could learn some professional manners (the older, blond dental technician, and the desk assistant that checks you out.) If you don’t have insurance, you’ll pay much, much higher than average (about $200.00 - $275.00 more) for Sioux Falls for a routine cleaning, exam and x-rays. They try to excuse it by saying they charge you the same as insured patients (which may be technically true), but what they don’t mention is how much is actually paid on that charge. Health insurance companies pay a deeply, deeply discounted amount (the Maximum Contract Allowance), and the dentist/doctor/provider accepts it as payment in full if they want to be in the companies’ networks. Dental Essence has a “discount” of 15%, but you have to pay $39.00 a year to get it, and that does not bring you down to the Maximum Contract Allowance level. A basic exam x-rays and cleaning can still cost around $400.00 with this discount. If you want basic adequate care at a reasonable price, you can try the two practices on South Phillips behind Hy-Vee, South Western Dental, or Dental Comfort. If you wonder why Dental Essence has so many flattering reviews, maybe it has something to do with the signs in the exam rooms that promise a chance to win Beats headphones if you post a Google review. Perhaps patients assume the odds of winning increase with each star. UPDATE: Well, names change over time for different reasons. I don't know what make right means, but refund wasn't mentioned. I think my review is an accurate assessment of my experience, especially considering I worked for insurance companies for over ten years. Reviews help people find the best services at the best prices, and that was what I wanted to do.

Terrible experience! I would not recommend! First off the hygienist was rude and put the wrap for the dental scan directly in my hair. They also told me I had two cavities, so before spending $600 I decided to go back to my regular dentist in my hometown. He said I had none! I also did not like the atmosphere of the room. There is no misunderstanding, I have had no cavities for years and my teeth are perfectly fine needing no treatment done to them.

I love Dental Essence because Dr. Meaghan and her team go above and beyond to take care of you. As a patient with lots of dental phobia before Dental Essence, Dr. Meaghan took lots of time to make sure I was comfortable and explain procedures and what would happen. She also used more pain relief techniques than any previous dentist, which was appreciated. You can tell she keeps up with what's new and best, and it shows in her care. Another thing I really appreciate is that everyone in the office, the Dr. included, goes above and beyond. Any time I've had a little thing that needed some attention, they've squeezed me in and made sure it was taken care of. I've never had such thorough, attentive, and compassionate dental care. I can't recommend Dental Essence highly enough.
