Just called on 3/12/18 to make an appointment for my 12 year old son and they said "we can not start seeing him because he's 12, if we started seeing him when he was 8, we would be able to see him until he's 18, but since he's 12, we can not see him, you're 4 years too late" ....well since when did they start doing age discrimination against children? Horrible.

Honestly, there is 1 absolutely rude, snobby stuck up assistant there. She needs a reality check and stop treating Medicaid holders like were peasants. Shes rude to everyone, my kid needs alot of dental.work and thanks to this rude person I'm going else where.

I take my daughters and son to Children's Dental Center and I have never had a problem getting all three into appointments around the same time. It's nice to know that I can get all three done at one time and don't have to worry about going back a second and third time.

My son went there a few times and they don't allow a parent back with the child and then in the few words I got told was no cavities but I just toolk him to another dentist and he has a huge cavity so bad it's clay and needs a filling so what is it they really do for the kids and r they really doing their jobs

Dr Damon Thielen took care my daughter's dental issues very well. He fixed it perfectly. She is no more in pain now..My daughter loves to visit the CDC.. They are awesome people.. Thank you very much for everything..

BEWARE Sub-par Malpractice type work being done out of this office! They failed to properly treat my son. There was persistance of bacteria after they performed “work” that cost over $3,000 because they admitted that they failed to properly remove all the bacteria (on ALL the work, I mean one mistake but how do you mess up ALL the work), inadequate filling of the canal (canals that are poorly cleaned), improper coronal seal (leakage), metallic chemical odour and bleeding after first procedure that was dismissed by their office as “normal”. Then after all the work failed due to inadequate dental work, we in good faith took him back after our primary dentist referred us to them since they did not have the ability to go to the specialty hospital. Joe told us what we already knew, that they (dentist at children's dental center) didn't get all the bacteria out and sealed properly so it leaked out and resulted in a very toxic environment in his mouth leading to his roots dissolving from under his gums. The bacteria also resulted in additional problems and gum inflammation and nasal problems. After the second procedure when Joe said they were going to “make it right this time,” they installed a spacer that was pressed into and pinching my son's gums on one side. They also failed to fill a cavity that was on the treatment plan. When we called them and sent pictures, they dismissed it as his gums being swollen, the tooth being crooked (all which are not true) instead of getting us in right away. Since they had already failed us and provided sub-par work the first time we did not trust them. So, we took our son to our primary dentist who immediately fixed the spacer and made an appointment to fix the cavity that can clearly be seen by someone who is not even a dentist. This work was already supposed to be completed while my son was asleep, now he has to sit for over 75 minutes to have an essentially duplicate procedure done. You don't get anything better than a sleeping kid right? Then when we called and told them all this they tried to make it sound like we and our primary dentist were not telling the truth and making it up. They wanted to see for themselves, well there is no way in hell I am bringing him back a 3rd time especially since they like to remove parents eyes by separating parent and child. I mean if a mechanic messed up your car twice would you bring it back to him a third time?? No! Why would I bring my son back? They tried asking well, was it on the treatment plan? YES! YES, the work that was not done and that was done but sub-par quality was on the treatment plan. What a slap in the face, trying to be shady and push the burden of responsibility onto someone else after Joe already excepted responsibility on behalf of his office. Even if it was something initially missed why would they not fix it????? It is like you go in for surgery to have a 2 inch tumor removed and they open you up and realize it is a 4 inch tumor. But instead of removing it all they only remove 2 inches of it sew you up and are like, well it wasn't on the treatment plan so we left 2 inches of the tumor in you, what a joke. I have since done extensive research about what has happened to my son and I am even more concerned with the long term repercussions this can have on my son’s gums and sinuses. The more I dig into it the more holes I am finding in their work. Even with all things considered, they could have made this right but refused to do anything except let them work on him AGAIN!!!! WHAT!?!? Only a crazy person would take their child pack for a third time, how traumatic! This is not the end of the road for us, we will not be silent.

I love that they focus on the kids. You can tell as soon as you walk into the office that it is meant for children. The first time I went with my son the doctor focused right on him and gave him the attention that he deserved.

I have been taking my daughter there since she was born. Setting up an appointment isn't bad and the staff is really friendly towards her and myself. Most visits she is comfortable with them cleaning her teeth, which I am grateful for.

I called to make an appointment for my baby. The woman who answered the phone was snottier than snot! I had to tell her that she was so rude I would make an appointment for my baby elsewhere.! Why would you work with kids with such a bad attitude!!

I just got off the phone with the receptionist who was extremely rude to me and actually hung up the phone on me. I asked some questions which she seem to not wanting to answer then I asked to speak to someone else when she wasn’t being helpful and just hung up. If this is how you handle new patients, especially kids? No thank you!

I like that they are accommodating. They can get a check up done in any way they need to. If my son doesn't want to sit in a chair they don't make him and are still able to get all the work done.

I was nervous to start my daughter with a dentist because of bad experiences... but knowing she needed to go I set all aside and made the appt. They seen her the very next day and she came out with a smile on her face... we got home and she told me all about it.... the next morning she was up getting dressed asking what time she goes To get her teeth cleaned....

I was SO impressed with our visit from the moment we walked in. We were referred to them because my son needed a tooth pulled and I wanted to make sure he was as comfortable as possible. At first, I was surprised that they swooped him up and I was asked to wait in the lobby. It wasn't until a little while later that I realized if I had gone back with my son it would have added so much more anxiety for my son and for myself. There is clearly a system that works for most children and their parents. Before they started ANYTHING I was brought into a room with the Dr. and he showed me & explained in great detail what he saw on the x-rays, why they felt this was the best approach, & what to expect. He answered every single question I had and even took additional x-rays per my request to ensure we were covering everything. One word to describe the dental assistant that walked us through everything - incredible. She was so sweet and genuine! My son left there feeling SO PROUD of himself and extremely confident. I would highly recommend them, especially for a dental procedure outside of the normal exam.

All of my children went here when they were younger. It was never an issue going to the dentist. They were always comfortable and healthy. The doctors at Children's Dental Center also referred me to Parkway Orthodontics for braces for them.

About three years ago my neighbor told me about Children's Dental Center. We were in transition so we decided to give it a try. We have been there ever since. Dr. Olsen makes my children feel very comfortable when they have to get their teeth cleaned. It definitely makes my job easier!

When we relocated from Miami to Sioux Falls my daughters were seen at Children's Dental. While it was not the greatest place it served their needs for check ups. Recently we had to move back to Sioux Falls from Miami. My daughters needed their check ups and I called for an appointment. They were refused service due to their ages 15 and 17. Was informed that if the child has not been seen in three years and is over the age of 13 they can not be seen at Children's Dental. Was told by Karen that this is because they have their adult teeth and they do not want to charge the insurance and then have to refer them some place else for services when they turn 18. I could not believe what I was told! Unbelievable!

This was the only place that accepted my children with the insurance. They capped all my kids teeth even tho I asked them not to. Capps have fallen off two of my kids teeth and for one I called and was told it didn't need to be repaired. We now take them someplace else . They work that is not necessary come to find out.Also my oldest heard one of the nurses talking bad about his father and I because of things we didn't want them to do. I will never use them again.

At first we went to a more local dentist, but switched to Children's Dental Center when we weren't happy with them. We have been with CDC ever since. We live an hour away so some times it is hard to schedule appointments around the school schedules and other stuff. They are always able to help us out and make it work.

I made a dentist appointment for my four year old daughter a few weeks ago and was told I could NOT go back with her because it was your policy. My family left and made an appointment somewhere else! As a parent I find this policy inappropriate! I am my child's parent and advocate! How do I know my child is properly being cared for? That she's not being abused? Or that your not doing procedures without my permission to rack up my bill? Because you say so? There have been plenty of instances on the news in the past and recently of these kinds of policys resulting in abuse of children and that's not a risk I'm willing to take. I would think when it comes to minors your office would encourage parents to over see the visit for the protection of the child and your Dentist's or at least give the option ,but to say it's "not allowed" is unprofessional and concerning!

Our first couple visits with our children were great. The dentist were great and we felt very comfortable. During our last visit, we were told that my young daughter had several cavities, would need a spacer, and the rest of her teeth capped. We were told that this had to be done under anesthesia. Their was little to no discussion with doctor and the office staff was very pushy and made a surgery date (even though it was asked if it could wait). I was very apprehensive and concerned, so I took my daughter for a second recommendation. That dentist only noticed two problems that were able to be done in the office. To be sure, we found another pediatric dentist in another town, who also after x-rays only noticed the two problems. If I did not take my daughter to other dentists for a second opinion, my child would have been put under and had thousands of dollars of work done that was not needed. She has never had the problems that they stated she had and it has now been two years (we are regular with our new dentist and take the needed x-rays). Please know that these are your children and if it doesn't feel right get a 2nd opinion, especially when putting children under for surgery.

Dr. J.B. Skibinski and his assistant (wish I could remember her name) just made my daughter's first trip to their practice such an enjoyable time, that she didn't want to leave! Way to go Children's Dental Center for making MY day too! Because our visit was streamlined with online registration, and the efficiency carried through as we arrived at your practice, and then bing-bang-boom....we were heading out the door. Thanks for having us, and we will see you again in six months!

To clarify from other users, The age limit is 13 if they have not been previously seen there. My personal experience is wonderful!, my kids love it, they are nervous going in but every time after the first they love it!
