Apparently if this dentist finds extra plaque they will call CPS and say you were neglecting your children. Rumor has it they also push unnecessary services and try to overbill medicaid. This seems to be a business built to coerce money by intimidating parents. Take your child to the dentist, but never this one. This company needs to close.

Horrible place they drag your child back screaming and kicking will not let adults go back with their child. Also said the first time we were here a different amount of cavities then when we are now here on our third visit. Very disrespectful towards the father of the child always just speaks to mom or when they need and answer they come out and just say the mother of so and so never the parents of very idiotic place to go but then again no place even the dr office ever addresses dad pathetic.

My daughter loves her dentist but today was it, let's start by saying twice in the last 2 weeks her appt was rescheduled theough a voicemail but after today's events she most definitely will not be returning. After her exam a nurse not the dentist called me in to talk to me about the appt. She told me my daughter had a fractured molar and a cavity on her front k9 baby tooth. I spent 15 minutes trying to explain that her k9 tooth was a grown up tooth and that i had a video of it coming out but she insisted due to a 2015 xray that it was not and that i was wrong. Then trying to make an appt for the procedure was nothing but a hassel they wanted her to wait u til ththe w end of august amoung things. Due to this i ask for the dentist to call me. Instead her office manager called. She was very rude. She would not make my daughter an appt because "its not her job" she had none of the answers to any of my questions and was in a rush to get off the phone. Then she informed me that my daughter has 2 not 1 fractured molars right next to eachother. I have never been this upset with this office until today. The whole thing was ridicolous and unprofessional. I do not recommend this office. Again Dr Poeperling herself is amazing but the office staff are rude and incompetent

Rude and unprofessional. When you would speak to them they would cut you off or interrupt you. Make sure you call back when they leave you a voicemail or they cancel your appointment you made 2 months prior. Will never recommend anyone to this place. They tell you their main concern if your child. The main concern is money.

Very accommodating when I had to reschedule. Not once, but twice - due to family visiting for the holidays. Waiting room is okay - I usually find a table wherever I can to write in my planner while I wait. Took my daughter back within 10 mins of checking in. She always praises how nice the assistants and hygienists are when she’s back there getting work done. Provided detailed instructions for after care for tooth extraction. Let her take her tooth home in a container - along with small goodies from the treasure chest, a toothbrush, and a tooth fairy sign for her door. I wish I had a little more of an explanation when they bring me back after her appointment to summarize, etc. Clean overall, nice staff, good location. Plenty of parking and seating.

The work the dentist does is half a&@ just so the can get more money. They took my son back for his appointment and when they called us back to get him he was crying . When we got half way home he told us the tied his arms down. Is that normal? I don't think so. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR KIDS THERE!!!

Do NOT take your child here!!! They won't let you go back with your child which is ridiculous. My son who is 5 told me that they strapped him down to the chair to keep him from moving. That was the last straw for me. He originally came in for a crown replacement but since he wouldn't stop moving, they rescheduled his appointment to go under anesthesia and to fill "multiple cavities". I was not having it. I now take my son to where I go (Dr Steve Miller on Carey Ave in Wilkes Barre) and he said my son had no cavities and didn't need to get a crown replacement since the tooth will fall out anyway. I would never recommend Smiles For Keeps to anyone. They were my only choice since they accepted the insurance I had at the time. Worse place ever. Extremely unprofessional. I would give it 0 stars if I could.

By far the worst experience I’ve ever had with a dentist. There were so many things wrong with my visit to start waiting l 3 hours for my son’s fillings to be filled!! The icing on the cake was being told he had work done that I specifically told to 2 different people not to do !!!!!!!! If I could rather this place a zero I would.

When I was 15 I went there and the 1st appointment went well but my 2nd appointment I thought I was sent to hell. I was in so much pain because the dentist refused to give me novacaine. Unless you want your kids to be in pain don't send your children to him. He's the Dentist from Hell

I recently had to switch dentists due to an insurance change and I thought the experience here was very bazaar. They escorted my son for X-rays and cleaning and then called me back in to tell me he needed cavities extracted without letting me see him before the procedure. They were quick to have me sign paperwork and in the mean time did not allow me back in the room with him and refuse to do it. I've been working in the medical field as a nurse for several years and this is Thebes's only place in this area that does this. I find it unsettling especially since my son is only five years old. Change your policy.

My 1st visit here with my granddaughter , 10 years old. I was impressed by the way we were greeted and felt comfortable with my decision to come here. The Dr. took the time to talk to us privately about what he felt was needed for her , she also says she liked it there. The waiting room was huge and well equipped for the children while there.

Total butchers! My son had to go there several times and each time I was refused to go back with him into the exam room even though he was very scared and wanted me there. After each procedure, he was in pain for several days afterwards. In addition, the staff freely talk about billing issues without any privacy since the check out area is just an open area with 3 assistants taking care of multiple people at once. Totally unprofessional!!

My daughter has been going here for over a year and we have never had anything but a pleasant experience. The staff and dentists keep me well informed at all times and always seem willing to explain and break down procedures. They are great at scheduling, with multiple reminders and accommodations to fit my needs. Overall, this office has helped lessen the nerves my daughter feels about going to the dentist. Good job!

I really enjoyed this place for the most part. The staff is great all round. The exception was when they told me my 5 y.o needed multiple fillings and a few teeth capped (He barely eats sweets/ candy so it was shocking but whatever). I would have let them do it if they allowed me to go back. There's no way in hell I'd let them put my kid under w/o me being there even though on previous general visits I didn't mind. I took him to another dentist (Alex) for a second opinion. I was informed he only had ONE small cavity and no other issues. IDK what that was about but clearly Smiles 4 Keeps lied.. I've stopped taking him there since then. I also would recommend ALWAYS getting a second opinion before you allow them to do any work on your kid. The dentist we use now only uses local anesthesia so had my kid not been able to undergo the filling without being put to sleep, we would have had to go back to Smiles 4 Keeps or to another provider. Luckily, we didn't need to.

Absolutely absurd that as a parent you are not allowed in the dentist room with your 5 year old child... it’s quite difficult for an adult to express themselves less likely a child. I will definitely file a complaint with the department of health for their suspicious medical practices. For all those parents that have gone thru the same experience, please don’t stay quiet. We have a right to be with our children during any type of medical appointment for their emotional mental and physical health. They are our responsibility and we are here to protect them!

This place is awful . No communication . Waited an hour in waiting room before I had to complain . I refuse to let these people sedate my child , if something happen who would resuscitate him? A dentist and a hygienist ? No way !! Waiting room and bathroom was filthy ! And the did unneeded X-rays that were already sent over from his primary Dentis exposing him to more radiation for no reason ! I gave them 1 star because the staff was actually very nice considering they knew I was not happy.

Very rude and racist people! I went to my 1:30 appointment and it was 11:17 . After filing all first time patirnt chart she left me waiting for 30 minutes. I went to the front and I ask if they were running late. Sge replies:" oh I dint put your chart in yet" After that in less than 2 minutes my chart was filled and she said my plan was inactive. I called an my medical plan was active. This is horrible and if you keep doubg this stuff you going to get sued.

Against the warning of other parents, I set up a consult here for my 6 year old. The wait was going to be 6 months but they were able to get us in, in only 2 because someone cancelled. I sort of knew what to expect based on other stories I'd heard. They took my son back on his own (I was a little hesitant but they were just doing x-rays and an exam). The waiting area where all of the parents/adults are made to stay was tense to say the least. At least twice I witnessed parents being advised that their child was worse than originally thought and needed much more extensive work immediately (like teeth pulled) and they weren't permitted to see their child. One of the women said this isn't the first time they'd experienced this. Now, I'm starting to get a little nervous. They finally called me back where the doctor was. They seemed to rush us and quickly explain what needed done, they wanted to put him under anesthesia to do the work. I left with an appointment and a little confused as to why they'd need to do that for work that could be done with novocaine. I needed to move the appointment because of him being in school so they moved us to a couple of months later. The closer we got to the appointment date, the more something was nagging at me that what they wanted to do was, well, excessive. I cancelled the appointment (we're at least 6 months into everything at this point and they treat you like it's a small miracle when they can get you in sooner than that) and called a local dentist that was able to get my son in the next week and take care of all of his dental needs, while I was in the room, and without unnecessary procedures that wouldn't have been covered by my insurance but sure would have benefitted their practice's bottom line!

To hell with them. My son had a appointment a while back and that day I had a death in my family and had to reschedule. My son had another appointment a week ago and on the way up I had someone hit me so I said ide be later. The girl told me they can't reschedule and sense it's my second appointment I had to reschedule they are dropping my son as a patient. God forbid you have a death in the family or have a emergency. On top of it she was the snottiest girl I've ever talked to. She told me that they have enough patients so loosing my business isn't a big thing. Plus they don't allow me to go back with my son. They do that so they can say there's dental issues and schedule a bigger appointment to do more work. But again. I've never been told my business is not needed. But from what I see I'm not the only business they are loosing.. I hope the dentist's read this and know how their staff acts.

My 5 year old son had 4 caps done and had a swollen mouth and was in serious pain!! He told me when he was asking the " dental professional" to stop she would not. She was a small Indian woman. Don't let her operate on your child. The time before this we had no problems and he had teeth pulled.

Please avoid at all costs. This was the absolute worst dentist we have ever been to. We walked right out; there was no way I would let them work on my kids. I was not happy with the lack of communication (they wanted to take my son back BEFORE I was able to speak with a dentist about the cavity he needed filled) and when I spoke out loud that I wasn't happy one of the hygienists brought me into a little back room basically just to bully me and tell me how inappropriate I was. Just for saying I wasn't happy that I couldn't speak with the dentist prior to them working on my son! She sat me down in a chair like a school-aged child and lectured me about how I shouldn't have said how I didn't like how they did things (since other parents were around). Sorry lady, the truth hurts.

Doctor and assistants were very considerate and friendly this time...the receptionists could be a little friendly, considering most children aren't to thrilled to be at the dentist to begin with, let alone the first person they meet when entering is a crabby person.... My son had an dental abscess that was missed by my regular dentist who he sees every 6 months for a cleaning. (6 days after the cleaning this problem occurred). I called Smiles4keeps Monday afternoon and explained the problem He was having (fever swelling pain) after my oral surgeon (who I called first, immediately after the problem occurred)refused to help him unless I agreed to knocking him out (problem he was having was with baby tooth), which I didnt. Smiles4keeps, scheduled me the next day for consult. The staff was amazing, caring and polite. The dr was friendly, explained exactly what the problem was and how he can fix it. He appeared to really like his job and made me feel that he was knowledge. They scheduled him for the next morning to fix the issue.They were so compassionate to both him and I. The establishment is clean, child friendly and made the whole experience so much better then it could have been. They fixed the problem with out general anesthesia stating they rarely ever use it when dealing with baby teeth. (He was awake the whole time)While they were working on him, they kept me updated of how well he was behaving and how smoothly everything was going. I couldn’t have been more please with the staff and dr. These ppl show genuine concern and do all they can to keep the child calm. I have since switched to them making this place my new dentist for both kids for maintence(cleanings). Their pricing was excellent(I have insurance) but even if I didn’t the total price was more then fair for the amount of work they did. This place came through for me when I needed them and I would absolutely recommend them to any one who has children and need dental care.

Absolutely horrified. After over year with this office and the amazingly long waits for appointments (6 months), I finally got wise enough to take my child to a different dentist. Smiles for keeps gave me a hard time about getting his dental records. They gave me nothing other than a record of visits. Not what was done. Not his file. Nothing was given to me other than when we were there. Information I obviously I already have. I take my child to the new dentist. He gives him a fluoride treatment and says we will keep an eye on 2 of his baby teeth with possible tiny cavities that may need work in the future. For now he wants to wait and see, treat with fluoride and check them again in 2 months when he's due for a cleaning. Smiles for keeps was ready to put my child through 4 fillings, a possible root canal, and a crown. Fortunately we never got that far with them. When asking our new dentist about the difference of opinions, he asked where my child was previously being seen. I told him. He said, "Ah, yes. That explains a lot. They are VERY aggressive there. They like to scare parents so they keep coming in for work done to their kids". He explained why my child would not need a crown, a root canal, and 4 fillings. He took the time to explain what problems he saw, showed me the problem areas, and explained what could be done to help. Please, take your children somewhere else. Anywhere else.

Our orthodontist recommended that my child have four teeth pulled. I knew she would need sedation for the procedure because she doesn’t even like to open her mouth for a cleaning but our regular dentist does not administer sedation. Smiles 4 Keeps was in-network so I decided to seek treatment here and I’m so glad I did! I was able to schedule the consultation appointment quickly and they were able to pull her teeth that same day. My child and I felt at ease here and the procedure was over so quickly even though my child is usually not cooperative at the dentist. I was also surprised how quickly my child felt better afterwards. She was just a little sore that evening and back to school the next day. Thank you for such a great experience!

Not only did my 4yo daughter need multiple teeth surgically removed, she also had an extreme fear of dentists, doctors, nurses etc. She wasn't easy-going in the least during initial exam so it was decided that the best course of action would be putting her to sleep while working on her, I agreed. I was able to set up a day for her surgery without much of a wait. They had me sign all paperwork at 1st appt. so I wouldn't have to bother with any of it on the morning of surgery. Oral surgeon among other staff members involved in her care made phone calls to me explaining details etc. Surgery morning came & I had zero complaints! I'd change just ONE thing!...After not being allowed to eat for hours before surgery, kids were made to wait and wait hours past their scheduled surgery time. Other than that, i love the dentist and staff! Theyre absolutely GREAT with little kids!!! No doubt!

My grandson, who is autistic, gets very upset with new things and scared when he is in a strange place with strange people. Everyone at smile for keep does everything in their power to help him thru this difficult time. They have the best staff!

Generally I am very pleased with my daughter's visits, this past one however I was pretty thrown a referral for an oral surgeon and booted out the door. I had a feeling the ongoing issue was going to come to this, but the lack of conversation and explanation at the appointment was very discouraging. My daughter did enjoy the redone waiting room, which help with the anxiety that she has at every visit.

Everyone was very friendly, from the office staff to the hygienists to the dentist. They made my son feel very comfortable, even though he was really nervous about his first visit. The waiting room was kid-friendly and comfortable. I recommend this office highly!

The staff is so friendly and accommodating my son was in so much pain they made him so comfortable and took him in immediately and relieved him of his pain without causing him any pain at all while doing so! They are a friendly helpful and caring group of people and they make any child who is scared of the dentist as comfortable as they possibly can. I have been going to Smile for Keeps for years and will be sad once my youngest reaches the age limit! I LOVE SMILE FOR KEEPS! I'M A GRATEFUL MOM!

Never spoken to an actual dentist, and their attitudes are not respectful nor helpful when trying to understand your child’s care. You’re not allowed back during the appointment either and that is unsettling considering you don’t know these people. Also there was the whole time they set children and youth after a family for no real reason. Find a different place and do yourself the favor.

Wouldn't even give them a star bc i drove over an hour to the appointment and they DO NOT let any parent in the exam room at all with the child. Not for cleaning not for procedures. My son has developmental delays and I've heard too many thgs about dentist offices strapping the children down. Not saying they do bc i left without being seen. I would never let my son go into an exam room without me!

They were really good with my child. The only thing that I didn't like was when it came to telling me what was wrong with my child's teeth. The lady talked so fast I didn't really get what she was saying. Other then that they were really good.
