Ten years ago I was in a traumatic car accident. I was hit while walking and I landed on my face. The impact from the pavement killed my teeth. One tooth was broken off and replaced with a crown of poor quality. Some of my teeth were crooked and stained. I had a calcium deposit on my front tooth. The list goes on. Needless to say, I didn't like smiling and I was very self conscience. I met Dr. Merrill and Natalie by referral of Dr. Wells. They immediately made me feel at home with their warmth and compassion. Without them and their awesome team I would still be embarrassed to smile. I now have a new found confidence and feeling of self worth to go along with my bright, big beautiful smile. Not only due to the excellent dental work but because of their kind words, positivity and encouragement. I will never go to another dentist. I absolutely love the Merrill's and their team!

I have heard a lot of wonderful things about this dental office, so I when I won a free teeth whitening session I was overjoyed. I waited one month before scheduling my session due to a trip I already had planned. When I called to schedule the session I was told that Dr. Dubrinski does not practice at that office anymore and they will have to call me back to see what they can do. I didn't receive my call back so I tried them a couple of day later and was told the same thing. I finally recieved a call back and was told that the only day they had available was the day that did not work with my schedule. They couldn't schedule anything in the future being that Dr. Dubrinski wasn't there (even though my certificate was good for one year). So, I took the one day they had available and tried my best to make it but couldn't it due to work .I wasn't able to reschedule my appointment and I must say that I'm really disappointed. I was in the market for a new dentist and it could have been them but they honestly didn't seem to care.

Dr. Merrill is a true genius when it comes to restorative dentistry. My Mother, who is 90 years old, had tooth decay and two crowns that needed replacing. She had gone to another dentist in Charlotte and after 5 visits, hours of painful time in the chair and three tries at taking impressions, was told that the decay couldn't be removed and only a temporary tooth was possible. So, at her wits end, we decided to make an appointment with Dr. Merrill, who came highly recommended by her Oral Surgeon in Charlotte. So, we drove an hour for the Consult and after x-rays and a thorough examination Dr. Merrill laid out his plan of action to remove decay, build up the core on two teeth, replace existing crowns and make a new partial plate. My Mother was extremely anxious about the plan and thought she was going to experience a lot of pain & discomfort. Nothing could be further away from the actual experience. Although the doctor had set aside 2 hours for this visit, my Mom emerged with a big smile, temporary crowns, decay free, and with impressions finished in just over an hour. I can unequivocally recommend Dr. Merrill, his wife & Dental Assistant, Natalie and the talented & empathetic staff at NORTHSTAR Dentistry!

To begin with I read the bios on the two dentist (and their team members) representing the dentistry practice and was impressed with their education and levels of experience. Upon entering their office I was immediately impressed with the office Manager and Administrators attitudes and professionalism, The dental hygienist was by far the most knowledgeable dental hygienist I have ever met. I actually thought she was a dentist in training. After the initial exam Dr Merrill came in and asked what was I expecting from his team. After discussing the issues I was having with my teeth Dr Merrill did a thorough exam and took the time to explain everything he had found. Together we made a plan to restore my teeth. Today I walked out with a schedule that will have me feeling better and have a great smile as well in the very near future . I highly recommend NorthStar Dentistry to anyone that has put off going to the dentist or that needs someone to keep their teeth healthy and looking good year after year.

All of the staff was wonderful! They offered a parrafin wax hand treatment while I got my teeth cleaned...why not? I accepted and it was a great way to relax! I also received a hot towel at the end of my visit to refresh! Amber was super amazing! She was very friendly and knowledgable and Dr. Merrill was very professional and pleasurable to speak with! My husband and I are new to the Huntersville area and looked online for dentists with good reviews. I chose NorthStar Dentistry because of the amazing reviews and thorough website. Today I had my first cleaning and appointment with Dr Merrill. I was blown away! The staff was the friendliest of any healthcare office I have ever been in (and i work in healthcare). On top of the A-plus treatment the professionalism was also outstanding. The hygienist Amber was so thorough, took her time and my teeth are the cleanest they have ever felt. She was very knowledgeable and shared a lot of info that was helpful to my understanding. Dr Merrill was so thorough in his evaluation for my first visit. Much of the evaluation he performed I had never had before. He explained everything and made sure any and all questions were answered. I highly recommend this practice to anyone looking for a super knowledgeable, professional and friendly practice.

An amazing experience. I could not have asked for a better dentist and staff. Literally some of the nicest and most helpful people I've ever met. I can definitely see why this practice is rated so highly!! I've also recently started using a night guard from Dr. Merrill for my TMJ and clenching issues, which were causing frequent headaches, neck and shoulder pain. This is the best thing I could have done for myself. It's already made a huge difference in decreasing headaches and jaw pain, just in the two shorts weeks I've been using it. If you suffer from teeth/jaw clenching or TMJ, please give their night guards a try. It'll change your life.

We recently moved to Dr. Merrill’s office and THE BEST decision we made! Dr. Merrill’s staff is truly caring and wants to genuinely assure patients that we had a great experience. Dr. Merill took the time to listen to my concerns and gave great advise. The staff and front staff is great, friendly and professional. We got a nice welcome mug as new patients. If you make an afternoon appointment, there is a sweet beverage surprise! Great coffee bar, wi-fi, tv with fish tank screen, beach screen (so calming) clean and pleasant restroom; reminds me of bed bath and beyond. The entire staff is very caring, Ashely, Katey and everybody do an awesome job! So glad we are with Dr. Merrill, genuine and humble! Love his Hawaiian shirts! Not only are the staff some of the most amazing people I have ever met, but the environment feels more like a spa than the dentist. Clean, professional, friendly, and extremely qualified. They are gentle and informative and I honestly look forward to going. They even suggested a night guard for my clenching and it has been amazing! I recently upgraded my night guard to a two piece and it has honestly changed how I sleep. It is super comfortable and has made a world of difference! In my lifetime, I have seen more than 15 dentists (I move a lot for work). Dr. Bunn and the staff of NorthStar are by far the best! They are caring, kind and patient. I recently went to Dr. Bunn for an implant and was extremely nervous since it was my first time ever needing one. I am also usually nervous about going to any new dentist since I feel that they are looking to find issues so they can buy a new fancy car. Dr. Bunn did not only ease my nervousness but I also found he wasn't looking to find unnecessary issues so he could buy a fancy car. He is genuinely concerned for the patient's teeth and well being. I also appreciated how he took the time to explain the implant procedure and explained the process in layman terms so I could understand. He even called me a few hours after getting the tooth extracted just to see if I was feeling ok. I highly recommend him. If you are uncertain, at least going in for a free consultation (other dentists will charge) to discuss any issues you may be experiencing.

I especially love the new night guard I was fitted with after it was determined that I was clenching my jaw and grinding my teeth at night. No dentist had ever told me that before (and I am 38 years old!) and since I have been wearing my night guard (several months now) my life has changed dramatically for the better. When I first came for my visit I was waking up everyday with a headache and neck ache. Sometimes not able to move my neck when I first woke up. Dr. Merrell fit me with a mouth guard, within 2 days ALL of my pain was gone. I tried every pillow I could find, nothing helped. I didn't even know I grinded my teeth, but I guess I do!

I have had a long history of dental work, the vast majority, negative experiences. When I recently broke a tooth, and went to visit Dr Merrill, I explained my poor past experiences, and my anxiety regarding the repair currently needed. Dr Merrill and his staff actually heard my concerns, and took the time to view XRays and talk through treatment plans, before putting any kind of equipment into my mouth. When they determined how my tooth needed to be repaired, they explained it thoroughly, and only proceeded when I was comfortable with it. This was by far the most positive experience I have ever had at a Dental office, and through their focus on my comfort, it was the absolute minimum of pain. They are genuinely enthusiastic about the opportunity they have to improve my smile and dental health, and I am confident they are 100% focused on my comfort and satisfaction. I am just as enthusiastic in my opinion of them and their services.

My experience has been positive to the point of almost life altering. I first visited for the removal of my amalgam fillings. The staff and Dr Merrill took time to answer my question and they were more affordable than other options I looked into. The life change is regarding the custom mouth peice Dr. Merrill created for me after discovering I was grinding my teeth at night and the sculpting he did on a tooth that has finally allowed me to have a more comfortable bite where my rear teeth finally touch! No other dentist I have ever been to had told me I was a grinder or that they could fix my bite so easily. After wearing the mouth guard my constant shoulder ache is GONE! I could not be more appreciative of Dr. Merrill, his wife the caring staff and the little office mascot, Steve. Thank you all

This was the most clean, kind, professional, and caring dentist I have ever been to. The main dentist himself, his wife, and all of his staff that I came in contact with were super sweet and patient and also considerate. This office has many little perks that just make your experience comfortable and wonderful! Everything from the all natural chapstick they gave me when my lips were dry during my procedure, to a salt scrub in the bathroom for your hands and a keurig in the front office, it feels as cozy as a dentist office can. And the procedure itself was as painless and comforting as possible. I am grateful to have discovered this office. You don't have to meet Steve if you don't want to but if you're having any anxiety about your dental cleaning or work he is the sweetest little dachshund to help calm you down with some snuggles. Dr. Merrill and his staff are caring and professional and their office is so warm and inviting. You know you'll be well taken care of the minute you sit in the patient chair. Dr. Merrill and his wife, Natalie, restored my mouth and smile back to health! They are passionate at what they do and take great care at making you feel comfortable with the work being done. I had leaking gold crowns with amalgam fillings underneath from my youth that were decaying and unhealthy; two of those were fractured and one had an abscess that needed attention. It was amazing how my mouth felt so much healthier when the crowns and fillings were removed! I also have three implants that they restructured for a seamless fit where the post meets the gum tissue. Their lab technician worked meticulously building each tooth to be sure everything looked natural. They knew I was a clencher and also built me a heavy duty night guard to protect my new smile. Dr. Merrill is very knowledgeable with years of experience and Is dedicated to giving his patients a confident smile that will last. I am very humbled by the amount of time and care they spent on my case and grateful for my new, healthy smile! This was the best dental experience I have had. First of all, the receptionist was great. When I called to make an appointment I expressed that I would like to try to get in earlier. She said she would call me back if they had a cancellation. She was true to her word. She even called me by name when I walked in without having met me. My hygienist, Amber, was great as well. She really took the time to talk to me, to see if I had any concerns about anything. After my cleaning, I met the dentist, Dr. Merrill. We chatted for a bit and then he looked at my mouth. He checked my bites, my joints, my teeth, my throat, my gums, everything related to my mouth. It was truly great. He was so warm and welcoming, as well as everyone on staff. Close to the end of the visit, I was told that they bake bread everyday in the office. They offered me the loaf of lemon poppyseed bread! One lucky patient will get one daily! I had a pretty rough time with my last dentist that operates in Charlotte North Carolina who took over for my dentist that I had for 25 years. I saw Dr. Bunn and his assistant about a week and a half ago and then a few days ago. I had some emergency needs with my teeth and was very anxious about the whole process. After two days of work, when we were finished I was so impressed with how smooth the process was and second of all no pain while they were working on me it made it seem like they have been working together for years and years. If you have ever had someone rough while working on your teeth , They are exactly the opposite here. I would recommend Nothstar Denistry to everyone. I don't usually give reviews, but I did this time and for a reason. They deserve it.

I actually called and left messages with several offices before finding NorthStar. This was the only one to return my call. I have been to some really good dentist practices, but this place is by far the very best. In fact, being a new resident to NC, my husband and I went to another dentist back in December, and had the worst experience. I called up Northstar to see if they would see us and get our X-rays as we didn't want to give the other place any more of our business. They were happy to. My husband got two fillings done there a couple days ago and I got my cleaning completed today. From the minute you walk in the door, the staff were kind and attentive, the waiting area was cozy and inviting. The hygienist Amber was amazing! Steve the therapy dog is so adorable and comforting (LOVE THAT DOG)! The cleaning was pretty much painless and Dr. Bunn was extremely thorough. I could tell he and Amber both care about the outcome of their patients' teeth. I was told I have no cavities and that my gums were healthy despite pregnancy/nursing hormones. They were prompt in getting a quote for a retainer/guard, and were kind every step of the way. Checking out was just as pleasant! They gave me a goody bag, set my new appointment, and even treated me to some pumpkin bread they had in the office. They definitely deserve 10 stars! I am happy to be a new customer to the Northstar Family!

I had the most positive and unique experience today at Northstar Dentistry. This was my first visit. I was warmly greeted by Haleigh and Peggy. They genuinely took an interest in getting to know me, asking about me and my family. I was escorted to my room by another wonderful lady, Natalie, Co Owner and wife of Dr Merrill. She took the time to get to know me as well. She asked what brought me in today? I told her my teeth are a mess. Truth be told I was a little embarrassed about my teeth. She was very understanding and positive. She then introduced me to her husband, Dr. Merrill. He was wonderful, knowledgeable, professional and down to earth. He gave me hope that with the proper treatment plan we could get my teeth back to looking and feeling good. He was able to repair one of my teeth that had been giving me a lot of problems. Here is what sets this dentist office apart from any office I've ever visited. During my treatment I had the choice of getting a paraffin hand treatment, which I glady chose. It was awesome! I then asked Natalie what that wonderful smell was and she said, "baked bread." Everyday they make a loaf of bread and give it to a patient. Natalie said they wanted to make the office as home felt as possible. They definitely accomplished that! Before leaving, guess who got the loaf of bread? You guessed right, me! I can't wait til my next appointment! When was the last time you were excited about going to the dentist?

I recently began treatment at NorthStar Dentistry for Adults with Dr. Merrill in Huntersville NC. I first off want to express how accommodating the office is. They worked with me to fit around my schedule, and have scheduled online with me since I am unable to access my phone at work. When you enter the office it is quiet and calm with a coffee bar, fireplace and complimentary hot aromatherapy towels, and hand treatments available. Peggy at the desk was amazingly friendly and remembered personal things about me after just one visit! It was very flattering and made me feel much more comfortable about my cavity fillings! Dr. Merrill is very straight forward and takes the time to sit and explain every procedure and the why behind what he is doing. He gives you options as well as recommendations for long term dental health. Today I was seen in his office for an emergency filling of a cavity in my front incisor. I had enamel erosion and a painful cavity. He fit me in and fixed this plus two other cavities. He and Natalie also explained to me about my night clenching/grinding and he fit me for a De-programmer that will inhibit future damage. Because they are out of town next week for a conference, he is doing a rush job and getting it to me by tomorrow! My whole life I have had horrible teeth. I called myself a "jack o Lantern" until I got my braces off at age 18. Even after my braces, my front teeth looked strange due to shifting and enamel erosion. I barely smile in photos due to insecurity. When I saw the work he did today I literally cried I was so amazed to see the difference. I no longer feel like my teeth look like a monster. I cannot thank him and his team enough. They have helped me overcome my fear of dentists, and also feel more confident in my smile. Finally I can show my teeth! I highly recommend this dentist to anyone searching. He is extremely knowledge, honest and skilled. There is such a comfortable, caring feel and you will feel like you are accepted into the family.

I love my new dentist! The ladies at the front are so welcoming and the rest of the staff is amazing! Amber is my hygienist and she is awesome! The atmosphere is very clean and homey. I have had a crown put in, a cleaning, and a mouth guard made there. Each appointment is short and sweet. So far each appointment has been done right and I am so happy with my services. It’s also nice to see the little dog walking around saying hello to all the patients. Dr. Merrill is very friendly and tells it like it is. He will give you information from a less invasive point of view to the most extreme and unnecessary things you would want to do for a procedure. I never write a review but wanted to share my first visit experience. The entire staff, starting with the front desk were so pleasant and very helpful. Doctor took his time examining me and was very pleasant as well. The office is beautiful, very clean and had the utmost friendly staff, not to mention a friendly welcome from Steve the dog. Lol
