They called my insurance ahead of time and gave me all the details up front. The hygentist did an awesome job cleaning my teeth. I came in complete fear. She made me feel very relaxed and kept insuring me everything was going to be alright. Hygienist Janet patient and thorough and more informative than my last dentist of over 35 years. Great team! Today I went for my first visit to get set up to get my teeth straightened. The team explained to me the entire game plan, pros and cons of getting the work done there. Very polite, helpful, kept me comfortable -gave me blanket as I was chilled, did photos and imprints. Allquickly with state of art no pain no fuss. Great team and teamwork!!! All-for about 30 pct less than straight orthodontist shop. Much better service as well. I’m staying here!!!!? Still great staffing and state of art equipment. To say you like or love your dentist is something! Love my dental practice!!! Also to mention that this dental practice is rated as the top dental practice ( #1) by WAY3 according to its customers for 2018 and 2019!

I had a great experience from the start! I was called back at my scheduled appointment time. My hygienist was friendly and super thorough.Dr came in during my cleaning and went over my ex rays and discuss with me what we should do first to get things going with a future root canal. Then When I went to check out she was able to pull up my insurance and give me quotes on what it’s going to cost me to have this procedure. Everyone was so efficient. What a joke, just got my last wisdom tooth pulled and they didnt give me anything for the pain. They told me to take tylenol and ibuprofen before the numbing wears off. Needless to say, I wont be back. Thanks for a great night of no sleep. Update: Clearly, I was upset upon leaving the office. I want to say though that there is much more then just the lack of care after my procedure that went into this one star rating. This actually started on Wednesday with my first check up. When I was walked back to the exam chair, the music that was playing was so loud and it went from some kind of rock music to hip hop. It was not relazing or soothing at all. The dentist that saw me actually had walked over to her assistant and even made the comment that the music was too loud, she hadnt heard what the assistant was saying to her. Today, the music was better. Today, I felt during the procedure, the dentist was very in tune to making sure I was comfortable. However, after the procedure the after care was sorely lacking. I had to ask about pain management and was given a slip of paper to tell me to take Tylenol and ibuprofen by the assistant. In my past, I had been given a script for pain. When I asked about this, the assistant just shrugged and told me she would take me up front to check out. The dentist herself completely disappeared after the procedure. She did not check on me before leaving. I felt very dismissed and unsatisfied with the aftercare. I also had to ask about taking care of it afterwards, at the front counter, as I now had a bleeding hole left in my mouth. The assistant so "oh yeah, I'll be right back." She proceeded to run off and came back with a plastic sandwich bag of gauze and said to make sure that I change the gauze every 15 minutes or so and then she was gone again. Sure the building is nice and the inside is nicely decorated but it takes a lot more than a nice location to run a GOOD dentist office.

I have been going to the dental practice for 40+ years. I had a horrible dental experience when I was a child, so when I had to go back to the dentist we were referred to Dr. Biggerstaff and I never had a bad experience again. Since he has retired and his office has had 2 new dentist for me to adjust too, and just going into the office practice helped with the anxiety, because of the pleasant experiences and familiarities of the office. I can thankfully say, I haven’t had a bad experience since and I have been thouroughly pleased with Janet, the hygienist for 35 years and now with Dr. Cortez. She is very accommodating and has such a pleasant demeanor that it relieves tension that one might would have when having to go to the dentist. I highly recommend Cape Fear Smiles.

I've never had a problem getting numb at the dentist. I was a new patient here and experienced it twice. The second time the dentist was very short with me, when I asked to have more time to see if it would kick in she said no that they had spent enough time with me. She was not forthcoming with telling me procedures and when I stopped her to ask her to tell me what she was about to do every step of the way she scolded me and told me to just let her do her job. I left with only half the work done and then she blamed it on me saying I was too nervous and needed a valium. I've never had such a bad experience in any medical practice. I was also very sore for three weeks where she had tried to numb me over 6 times. I would not suggest this practice to anyone.

Dr. Cortez and Dr. Goforth-Moore are so wonderful! I have severe anxiety when it comes to going to the dentist and they made me feel so comfortable during my treatment. I could not be happier with Cape Fear Smiles. I plan on continuing to be a patient there for many years to come.

I've had two deep cleanings and all 4 widsom teeth removed by her and her staff. Literally zero pain, zero frustration. Due to some horrible experiences at prior offices I had developed quite a fear of the dentist. I have been going to Cape Fear Smiles for a few years now and that fear is gone. I trust them 100%. Staff is always friendly and reassuring, and they offer a plan that reduces costs for those of us without dental insurance. Dr. Cortez has done everything from general cleanings, fixing a problem that a different dentist caused, and most recently removing two wisdom teeth - she is wonderful, as are the other dentists and hygienists! I also love that the staff is bilingual! It doesn't apply to me, but I have witnessed them speak with patients in Spanish and I can only imagine the relief it must make those patients feel to completely understand what is being communicated. So glad I found this dental office!
