Whenever I have a flare-up with TMJ I know exactly where I need to go - that is straight to Dr. Gelb’s office! I was successfully treated a year ago and I have not had any trouble since. Today I had a yearly checkup. I was seen very close to my appointment time and treated with much respect. All in all, it was a very pleasant experience.

This TMJ specialist Doctor in NYC is the real deal. No fluff, no hype.. but beautiful Upper East Side office. The doctor truly is a TMJ specialist. He accurately diagnosed my TMJ and quickly treated it. I can't believe I am TMJ free: no more grinding, no more pain, no more sleep issues. SHYSTER. INCOMPETENT. DISHONEST. Dr. Gelb made me a Mora orthotic appliance. It was debilitating, causing severe facial pain and muscle spasms. The appliance torqued in my mouth and was unstable. He sent me to physical therapy and gave me shots in my face. He made me another unwearable Mora appliance that again rocked and caused pain and spasns. He increased the vertical to a rediculous height. I presented with skeletal discrepancies and occlusal issues. Dr. Gelb's treatment plan with his "patented" Mora appliance was INAPPROPRIATE DENTAL TREATMENT and HARMFUL. I paid him $3,600. I went to his office to pick up promised refund for $1,500. He renegged and refused to come out if his closed door office to discuss. His Mora appliance is NONSENSE DENTISTRY for a case like mine and he is a DENTAL BUFFOON. He relies on referrals from his dental cronies and rides on the coattails of his father's reputation. Gelb is UNTRUSTWORTHY, BAD DENTIST. NOT RECOMMENDED. He has several bad reviews on the internet. He is not reputale.

I spent close to 50 years in search of relief from severe migraines. My lucky day was the day I walked into the offices of Michael Gelb, DDS.. I had to wait for weeks to see him and as the saying goes, good things are worth waiting for. What was diagnosed for 50+ years as a migraine, was in large part a severe case of TMJ. Dr. Gelb has given me extraordinary care, exploring paths that I never knew existed while monitoring each step of the way. For the first time in decades, I am experiencing relief. Dr. Gelb did not give up on me- when one road did not work, he searched for another. How very fortunate I am.

I need to find a real tmj specialist. I haven't been to Michael gelbs but I don't want to keep giving my money to people that are making false advertisements like Brooklyn dental. I made an appointed with Brooklyn dental because they came up when I was looking for a tmj specialist online. I called explained to them I had a tmj problem they said ok and made me an appointment when I went there they charged me the consultation then told me that they will recommend me to someone that's a tmj specialist when I called that number it wasn't even available.

I suffered from TMJ after a bad car accident. I went to numerous TMJ specialists, doctors, and dentists in NYC. I was frustrated because norhing worked and I just kept spending so much money. Finally I went to Dr. Michael Gelb'a "The Gelb Center" on the Upper East Side in Manhattan based on a friend's recommendation. Dr. Michael Gelb is the best if the best. I can't explain how this relief has had such a positive and profound impact on my life. He is the real deal. If you have TMJ and like me have been trying to find the right specialist look no further. Relief is possible! I definitely recommend him.

Caveat Emptor - This doctor markets himself as something for which he is not credentialed or formally educated. He is a dentist. I brought my daughter here because our dentist and orthodontist couldn't help her headaches which we were was a TMJ problem. Dr Gelb examined her, determined it was NOT a TMJ issue, then prescribed his custom $5,200 TMJ device anyway - along with costly rheumatologic blood tests well outside his education or expertise in dentistry. What's more, he didn't wait for test results before recommending his custom mouth piece, so he didn't have any data on her actual issue before zinging us with a $5K recommendation. Profiteering? Short story is the TMJ device did not help b/c my daughter does't have a a common TMJ issue, just as Dr. Gelb diagnosed. Predatory prescription of expensive equipment to vulnerable parents is just the beginning. The doctor's office then over billed me by $2,700 Q4 2014 and I'm still trying to recoup $916.66 after all this time. Dr. Gelb's finance staff refuses to take my calls, or return them. The office won't reply to my email, or to my written letters requesting resolution. Beware. As for the customer experience, Dr. Gelb spends little time with patients, moving from room to room giving cursory feedback and then shuffling in an aide to do the actual work. I found him arrogant.
