the whole crew @ dr. melton's place is superb! i was pretty scared to get my gums worked on because i'm tough to get numb, so my BP and anxiety level was pretty high. but it was all for naught...mellisa and dr melton took all that into consideration, and honestly, i didn't feel anything...OK, a little pinch from the anesthetic needles but soon thereafter, i was, as pink floyd would say, comfortably numb. dr melton explained everything that he was doing in simple english and was a real pro! also, the pre and post op instructions were perfect, and the truth is the motrin is sufficient to relieve any pain afterwards. today is the day after and i haven't had any issues, pain or otherwise. i highly recommend SF Periodontics and everyone that serves patients there!!!

My first appointment was a 10:30, but I was told to get there at 10:20 to fill out new patient paperwork, so I did. I finished the new patient paperwork and was promptly called back at 10:30. They explained the entire implant process to me very clearly and made sure that I understood everything that was going to happen. They even recommended the best toothbrush and tooth picks. The location was easy to find and has plenty of parking. I am very happy that I was recommended to Dr. Melton and I would definitely recommend his office.

It was made very clear in the beginning I was paying 100 % out of pocket, no insurance and I did pay 100% the day service was provided (twice). When I called to question the bill, I was told "it was only an estimate" (standard canned response). What was an estimate? What charge did Dr. Melton or the admin miss? Dr. Melton checked off each procedure performed, presented paperwork to administrative person, numbers tabulated, tax added, I was informed of charges and paid bill in full. One star for billing dept. and explanation.

I arrived this morning at 11:20 for an appointment that had been set up by my primary dentist. When I arrived, I was required to fill out the appropriate paperwork, then ushered into a consultation room. Dr. Melton came in and we discussed my condition of needing my lower left most rear molar (#18) extracted. I had come to Dr. Jeffery Melton as an alternative to the experience I had last May with my primary dentist (who also extracts teeth). That experience was complicated as the tooth just in front of #18 had to be extracted due to a vertical crack going into the root. However, that tooth (#19) had roots that splayed apart rather than aligning themselves together in more of a cone shape like #18. I spent over an hour in the chair under local anesthesia having that tooth taken out in pieces. It was my first and what I decided later to be my last tooth extraction via local anesthetic. Upon initial discussions with Dr Melton, it became clear that he didn't understand that I wanted the tooth extracted while I was "under". He proposed an alternative approach whereas he would write me a prescription for a pill that could relax me enough to have the tooth extracted with only local anesthesia. So we rescheduled the extraction for 3:00 this afternoon. I took my pill 20min before arrival and was ushered into the operating room. Initial deadening shots were administered and Dr. Melton went away to allow the shots to take affect. While he was gone, his assistant scanned my teeth to prepare for future implants I plan to have Dr. Melton do. It was nice that this effort was completed giving them 4 months lead time on the info while we wait for #18 to heal. Dr. Melton came back and finished adding more shots to the areas around the tooth to be extracted. He performed some narrowing of the tooth between the gum and the tooth and then he grasped the tooth to see if it would move back and forth and then said he was going to twist it. I think it was less than one minute and he said the tooth was out! I thought he was kidding! This experience was only my second experience in tooth extraction, and I was skeptical going in with only a sleeping pill relaxation technique, but it was such a stark contrast to my first experience that I just started laughing when he said the tooth was out! Next the bone graft was placed and gum sutured up! I was out of there in a quarter of the time it took for that more complicated tooth. I had told Dr. Jeffery that I wanted the gold crown off of my extracted tooth, so when it was done, I asked where it was. The whole tooth was in a bottle with the crown still intact! I know the shape of the roots helped make this extraction so much easier than #19. The professionalism, consideration and commitment to help me be comfortable throughout he experience was over the top! Dr Jeffery Melton is highly recommended, but you really need to understand how complicated the tooth extraction will be before you decide how much "help" you need in coping with the fear & mental challenges of having it done with local anesthesia. All in all, I'd have this kind of tooth pulled again with minor induced grogginess, but I don't think I could handle a complex extraction that way. So far I'm extremely pleased with Dr. Jeffery Melton and look forward to receiving the implants and restoration of my bite about 4 months from now.

Dr. Melton performed an extraction, osseous procedure, and bone graft on me 2 months ago. I had my last post-op check up a week ago and everything looks and feels great; I am very pleased with the outcome. He is a gifted and highly skilled practirioner; this being pretty extensive work I had NO pain during the procedure very little after the procedure. In addition he is a genuinely nice guy who has wonderful chair side manner. He really listens to his patient and spends lots of time even though he is extremely busy. The worst part was the shot, and actually that wasn't even bad (and I am terrified of needles).
