To say I loved going to the dentist is a stretch, but for a dental office this is extremely well run. From being friendly at appointment time, to reminders of visit, through the visit itself, everyone is very helpful and accommodating. I was most impressed that somewhere along the way they made note of how to pronounce my somewhat complicated name and made notes everywhere so everyone got it right. I don't ever remember receiving customer service like that anywhere. They are completely up on all modern devices and have to be the most thorough of any dentist office. I almost look forward to going back...but who am I kidding, it's the dentist and no one "likes" going to the dentist. Regardless, very impressed with the services offered and the staff. Will definitely being going back and have already recommended their services (same day).

I went to have quite alot of work done all at once. The appointment leading up to the work, they took all kinds of xrays and notes and measurements and all kinds of stuff. They explained to me what to expect, and what to expect when i take the pills for the sedation, and what they do when i get there since i wont remember anything. After the procedure i was pretty sore but my teeth looked wonderful. And although it was pretty painful (bye-bye wisdom teeth!) I felt alot of relief. The after care appointments were good, they gave me a little bag with mouth wash. Other special mouthwash for healing. They checked all the stiches. Overall it was as pleasant as the dentist can get, all the dentists and assistants are so lovely and they really take care of you, especially when your sedated.

Not happy with them today. The staff is very pleasant, and as far as I can tell, my care is adequate. But I was asked to check in and complete an update form online. I have vision problems and could not read the screen or see the cursor. I stumbled thru as best I could, they called me twice to seat me, but I was stuck at the computer, with my husband trying to help me, and also having trouble. My husband said that while he waited for me in the waiting room, at least 25 other people came in and were not asked to check in online. They were merely greeted and asked to have a seat. So I dont know why I was required to check in online. I was told after the fact by the hygienist that next time, i could request a paper and pen check-in. My appointment was for a cleaning. After the cleaning was completed, I waited 28 minutes for a dentist to tell me everything was ok and I could go. I realize they are huge, and run like a factory, and a wait is to be expected to see a Dentist for a cursory, less than a minute look in my mouth, and get a green light to leave, however, nearly half an hour is annoying. Then there was an insurance billing issue, which contributed to my annoyance, but it is too complicated to go into detail here. It had to do with the way they billed an item caused our dental insurance to refuse to pay, so we had to. That should not have been neccessary. It has been billed differently before, and our insurance paid before. But not this time! All in all, unless you have far more patience than I do, I suggest you go elsewhere. I am going to. Life is too short to spend in annoyance. I'm giving 2 stars because the hygienist is nice, caring and gentle.

The wife and I have been with Dr. Westover from the start. We have seen many dentists in our 68+ years but Dr. Westover is by far the best. He tries to understand what you need, your understanding of how he can provide what you need, and also provide what you want to have done. No service is provided you do not want and need. The needs of the patient is of Paramount importance to him and all his staff. I have not hesitated to recommend him in the past and will not in the future. To the Doctor and all that work at Mountain View Dental I have only the highest regards. Thank you for all you me and mine but also what you do for the local community!

I love this place! My 5 year old came in to get a filling and they were amazing with her. She keeps telling me that she loves the dentist and wants to go back. I've had nothing but positive experiences here and have to say this it is the best dentist I have ever been to! They even helped me figure out payments for all the work thay needed to be done and explained everything that they were doing in great detail so I didn't leave confused about anything.

My wife retired from the Air Force on 1 April 2019. Knowing we would need dental insurance, I called Mountain View Dental in March 2019 and asked the young man who answered the phone what dental insurance plan they would recommend for good dental coverage if we enrolled as dental patients at Mountain View. He recommended MetLife High, so that's exactly what we did, effective 1 May 2019. First week of May 2019, we called Mountain View to schedule routine semi-annual dental cleanings under our new MetLife coverage. Mountain View easily verified our dental insurance, but then dropped a very unexpected bomb on us...they had absolutely NO new patient appointments available until mid-September 2019! A 4-month wait for routine x-rays and cleanings. This is how they run a professional medical practice? Of course, we made the appointments they offered in September 2019 because everybody says Mountain View is the best dental show in town, but our first impression from the delay in care is not positive. I suppose we'll see what happens in September 2019 after that initial exam and cleaning.

I have not gone to a dentist in over 27 years so I have a bad mouth of peridontitis. The necessary cleaning is pretty intense and will have to be done in multiple sessions. Mountain View Dental has an amazing staff that is superb in communicating what is needed, how it will be done, and current estimates. I have been treated with respect and kindness each time I go. My hygentist, Damon, was amazing. When I get everything fixed I will be going to Mountain View Dental every six months to avoid further damage.

There are some reviews on here that are very bad-- they are from several years ago when there was a different dentist and different staff there. Since then, a new staff, and 2 new dentists have occupied it. This office is CLEAN and the upbeat, fun, and very friendly atmosphere will ease any anxiety you have going to the dentist. The dentists here are good with people, they love what they do because they love helping to provide individuals with smiles that they are comfortable with. This practice is run by good, honest people. Your dentist will be a lot more than just your dentist- he'll become a friend who takes an interest in your life! I would highly recommend this office to anyone.

My first visit today. Only expected an exam and maybe antibiotics for a abcessed tooth. Nope from the very moment of arrival I received 5 star treatment. Dr. Rob and staff, took every concern I had as serious. Reviewed my health issues which have a direct connection to dental health. Were patience, caring and kind. Even though they were booked full, Dr Rob extracted the tooth and made sure I was put on a Asap list for further care. I was amazed. I highly recommend this clinic for anyone who is nervous or fearful of treatment. For the first time my nerves were taken in consideration and extra steps of gas were used. My two month old daughter had a lip tie fixed and Dr. Westover was just wonderful throughout the process. He explained the benefits of the procedure so well but was not at all pushy. He and his staff were also understanding of how hard it was on me as a mom to listen to my baby cry and I was given the option of staying with her or waiting in another room (my husband stayed with our daughter while I waited elsewhere). The laser procedure took truly only a couple of minutes and immediately my daughter was brought to me to be comforted in a private room. I would highly recommend Dr. Westover and his staff, particularly if needing to get an infant lip or tongue tie fixed. Thank you so much!!

It's sad to me that I have to rate a dentist so low, but I would never recommend this office to anyone. Everyone seems friendly up front, yes, but you'll find it to be just an act. The doctor is standoffish and cold, just does his work with no attempt to be warm or comforting. This scared the crap out of my nephew, who is already a little shy in any medical setting. The doctor said he was being "difficult" when he was being quiet and still, just clearly needed a little encouragement... he's only a kid. The front desk also put on quite the facade. When I timidly brought this, as well as the low quality of cleanliness of the office, to their attention, the receptionist Christina COMPLETELY ignored me, like I wasn't even talking! Instead, she picked up the phone and I believe was pretending to be making a call -- wouldn't even look me in the eye. Very unprofessional and rude to a client just trying to bring something to your attention for the bettering of your business. I would rather bring my business and my mouth elsewhere, where it's treated better and has less chance of contracting a disease just because they're too lazy to wipe down and vaccuum... who knows if they even disinfect their equipment...

Clean and some of the dentists are awesome. But their pricing policy is outrageous. Not only is it one of the more expensive dental clinics in town; they require payment up front as you recieve the services, and will add additional charges and procedures to your bill without notifying you first. If you need a crown or root canal, expect to pay $700+ up front, they will NOT work with you or create a payment plan to make things easier. If your estimate and actual price you pay is $200+ more expensive, don't be surprised. (This is all being estimated WITH insurance. If I didn't have insurance, I'm sure it would be even more outrageous) Don't expect to make payments on this like you would with a normal medical bill, they are not that reasonable. They also create fake problems that they then have to fix to get your money. I was told by them that I would need a second root canal, the dentist insisting that one of my teeth was insanely rotten. I went to another dentist for a second opinion and they said they had no idea what the guy had been talking about, that the tooth in question was fine. I got a root canal at mountian view, and not only did I have to go back for them to fix the bite on the temporary crown, but they messed up the permanent crown and now I have bite issues with it as well. I have visited their office going on 6 times now for this single tooth, because they can't seem to get it right. This is ridiculious. For one of the most expensive dental offices in town, they should be able to do their job correctly the first time. I have had more issues and more pain from going to this dentist than I ever have from anyone else. As soon as this crown is fixed, and done correctly, I am never going to return to this place. Don't give them your money, go somewhere else.

They told me I had cavities on both sides of my mouth, I let them drill on one side. They said the other side was a lot worse and would cost quite a bit more due to the amount of cavities and how bad they were. I ended up going to alsmogordo dental group and found out I have no cavities. I am disgusted with this office....this is malpractice and i wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy.

My daughter needed braces and we had heard only great things about Mountain View Dental so we made an appointment. We went and my daughter was very clear that all she wanted for Christmas was braces. After the consult, I asked if she could get her braces the next day. Dr. Farnsworth's assistant, Alexis, said that there were, unfortunately, not any openings and that my daughter would have to wait until the 3rd week in January. My 13 year old daughter looked away from us and a tear rolled down her face. Alexis saw this and said that she was going to see about the possibility of a 7:00 am appointment the next day . When she left, my daughter bowed her head and prayed that somehow, God would work it out. Alexis came back and said that Vanessa, an employee and also a friend of ours, would stay late, as well as Dr. Farnsworth, and they could do the braces right then and there. This is going the extra mile and I will most definitely refer my friends. The environment is warm and friendly and everyone was amazing. And my daughter got her Christmas wish afterall...Thank You Mountain View Dental, Dr. Farnsworth, Vanessa, and Alexis for your over the top attention and kindness.

A bit in the expensive side. If your well off or military it would be a to go place but be weary as they push higher end procedures when fillings and crowns will simply do. They push most of the work to implants over root canals and basic procedures which the tooth is still good.

Mountain View Dental has had a refreshing year in 2013! As a practice we have welcomed two new dentists and new staff members. Dr. Joseph Westover started as our primary dentist in July of 2012 and Dr. Devin Gneiting joined our practice in January of 2013. Went to Mountain View for a routine cleaning and was overall unimpressed by the office despite the rave reviews. Being affiliated with the military, I have been to a lot of dentists across the US, and this one was mediocre at best. After the cleaning, the dentist came in for the exam and told me that I needed a crown. I have never had a crown done before and went in with no issues with my teeth, so I pressed him with questions since I was unconvinced of this treatment plan. The dentist knew this would be my only visit since I am in Alamogordo short-term and that I have Tricare dental insurance. He spent a good ten minutes trying to explain and (oddly) convince me to make this appointment which would have cost $850 - only half of which would be covered by insurance! I took my x-rays and asked my sister, a dental hygienist, if I should get a second opinion. I promptly went to a different office and was told there are no issues with my teeth and that I only had a small chip in the tooth that could be filled, if I wanted. But, it didn’t actually need anything since there is zero decay. So - please do not fall into the dental trap and reconsider going to Mountain View.

Dr. Westover made my day today! Last night my three-year-old son fell and hit his face on the tile and knocked a tooth out of place. I called Dr. Westover on his after hours cell phone last night and he was very kind and empathetic to my situation. After looking at a couple pictures that I sent him he advised I come in for an x-ray today. I was worried about paying out-of-pocket for my sons appointment as he was not in rolled in our dental insurance yet. When I came in today the staff was amazing and Dr. Westover did a great job working with my son and diagnosing him. He ended up giving us an amazing discount even though my son was not covered by insurance! Thank you Mountain View dental and Dr. Westover!

Dr. Westover and his staff are absolutely stellar. With a lot of experience as a dental patient (and some...not-so-great ones...) I have finally found the best. I was very nervous about being in a dental chair again since my last visit was a bit traumatic. I had some major work to be done and put it off for over 2 years. Dr. Westover made me feel very comfortable. He explained what needed to be done and had a wonderful, cheerful attitude. He loves his work and it really shows. He seated 2 implants and was efficient, professional and kind. There wasn't even any pain. I had no pain in the office, I had no pain when I got home and no pain the next day. The office is spotlessly clean and very high-tech. The staff is friendly and caring. I highly recommend Mountain View Dental.

I am not one to enjoy visits to the dentist because of the fear I tend to have for anyone touching my mouth. And this is not the feelings I want to pass onto my kids (under the age of 5). With every visit I was assured that I would get the best care. I can only thank the staff for their patience with myself and my children. The dental hygienists are friendly, efficient, and thorough, as are the dentists. It seems like they try to give you the same hygienist and dentist for every visit, which is nice because you have continuity and can build a relationship with the people putting their hands in your mouth twice a year. I was never upsold or told that I needed work when I didn't. I always felt that Dr. Westover, Dr. Gneiting and the entire staff had my health and interests in mind, and not just their bottom line, when they made treatment recommendations. After having visited many dentists in the past, this is been one of the best experiences by far and I would recommend them to anyone in the area.

We've been going to Mountain View since we moved here from Boston. The hygienists were awesome and now that Dr. Westover has taken over, we like him so much more than the first dentist we met. Terrible. Orthodontists only come in 2 days out of each month. I have braces and one of my brackets fell off. I went in because i was told if a bracket falls off to come in immediately. So, i did. And they told me i cannot be seen nor have it fixed till the orthodontists come back in which is 2 weeks from today. I am not at all happy. I paid a large amount of money for the down payment just to be told that. I am not at all happy.

Had a crown that needed to be done. The staff were amazing. The temporary was causing me pain and they worked around my work schedule to get it fixed in a timely manner. Everyone was extremely nice and professional. Highly recommended.

I've loved Mountain View Dental even before I had my son but now I love them even more. My 11 month old had his first visit today. They called it a happy visit. It's mainly to get them used to being at the dentist and they introduced him to all of the equipment. They were so patient and gentle with him. It was great! I then had my cleaning after his appointment and he started getting fussy toward the end. One of the hygienists (I think her name was Amber. I know it started with an A) came over and started playing with him and entertained him until I was done. It was fabulous!

I have always avoided going to the dentist every chance I get. I mentioned to Dr. Westover and Mountain View Dental team that I am terrified of going to the dentist. They promised that they would take care of me and make sure my visit was a pleasant one. Dr. Westover explained what they will do and I was just ready to get my root canal over and done with. Dr. Westover and his team definitely meant their word. I am no longer terrified and ready to go back for any future appointments. Yes it is pricey but I would pay the price for being at ease and know that they are doing a great job.

I’m not from this area but came here because of the good reviews I read here on Google and I was not disappointed. Dr. Walker was Awesome when my permanent crown cracked! She did the tooth repair and the replacement permanent crown in a few weeks time as well as going the extra mile and doing some research for a new mouth guard that will work for me and prevent me from cracking and damaging my new crown in the future! I am very pleased with the outcome of my dental work with this dentist and the office staff!
