Honestly I was blown away with the procedure Dr. Frye and his assistant did on me. They were good, fast and professional. Don't be fooled by how young many of their employees are because everyone seemed very knowledgeable. Highly recommended and I'm glad I cancelled my other dentist appointment which was more expensive and failed to do the job right the first time . Keep up the good work guys and thanks again!

Highly recommend. Awesome staff & dentist, Dr Pham. Broke a temp crown while in Albuquerque attending a funeral. Saw me 5 mins before closing. In & out in an hour with a new temp crown. Very reasonably priced. So thankful there are still professionals that go that extra mile for people.

Went in for an emergency root canal with no problem and they even stayed after hours to help me. Because of the good experience I already had, I returned for an exam and then was told i needed a laundry list of work. Basically, a couple more root canals and scaling and root planing. They had me believe that this was an absolute emergency and needed to get everything asap. I ended up leaving without any work. This didnt sit right with me so I chose to find a second opinion. When i went to another dentist, was told that i didnt need ANY root canals or scaling and they were absolutely in shock that I was told so. They even said that I had great teeth. Abq Modern Dentists just wanted more money out of me.

I encourage people to be very weary of going to this dentist office. I was a customer for several years, never had a problem until recently. I went in for a routine cleaning, was told that I was at risk of serious gum disease which could lead to other issues (which is funny because I had just seen my orthodontist to make a new retainer for me since it’s been years of having my braces off, and he told me my teeth and gums looked excellent). So they told me I’d have to schedule a deep cleaning, which I was open minded to, thinking no big deal I have insurance. But then I was told they wouldn’t do the routine cleaning that day since I “needed serious work” and was told the deep cleaning and whatever other service they said I “desperately needed” would be about $800. I have never had any issues with my teeth, no cavities, sensitivities, gum issues etc, and now all of a sudden I need serious dental work?!?!?! And reading through the comments it seems that other people have experienced similar scenarios. The dentist office seems like they’re just trying to rake in money by scaring people into thinking there is an issue.

TL/DR version: they charge too much, they charge for unnecessary things, everything needs updating - go elsewhere. There's a really great practice not even a block away (if you want to stay "Uptown" - get it?) that I would recommend highly. When I first moved to Abq post grad school I chose this location after reading the reviews - at the time they were above average. When I moved to the other side of town I switched to their other practice Abq Modern Dentistry off of Coors. Both locations have the same aesthetic - it was clearly modern and upscale when they opened but a lack of maintenance and upkeep means it just always looks a little dingy and lot worn. The one positive is that the dentists I've had - with the exception of one dud - have all been fine. Not amazing, but also not mediocre. Though maybe the high turnover of dentists says something... Actual issues: *I moved back to this side of town and returned to this office - neither location ever shared my records with the other so it looked like I took a several years break between visits. *They do unnecessary things like take your blood pressure for routine semi-annual cleanings - this is so they can charge your insurance. It has no dental purpose, and no other dentist office in this town (or that I've ever been to anywhere and I am a twice-a-year dental cleaning person) does this. (Obviously knowing your blood pressure is necessary before surgery - it is not necessary for applying flouride) *The front office staff was always talking to each other and distracted (or maybe not so competent) - it is not a patient forward feeling or office. *A few years ago when there was a spate of news stories about whether or not flossing was effective (you should still floss!) according to the HHS I asked my dentist at the time (he is no longer with the practice) if this was true. He had no idea what the medical journal article was about, or what the news coverage was saying - and this is for something so crucial to dentistry - flossing! *Pricing was always more than what my colleagues were paying at their similarly "modern" dentist offices. Certainly more than what I pay at the higher quality, more aesthetically pleasing, better trained, technologically advanced dental office I switched to about half a block away.

Told me i needed a deep cleaning. Paid $130 and received a painful REGULAR cleaning that I could have got for free anywhere else. Boo, never going back and will tell all to stay as far away as they can. Additionally, the doctor did not wear a mouth cover and his breath was foul.

Worst office ever. Not so modern at all. Dentist numbed my nose and not my gums. While root canal was happening I was told to just stay still and handle it. Office advertises same day crowns and no waiting, not the case. You have to wait for them to be sent a lab. Asked for painkillers without acetaminophen because it gives me a headache and reception tried to insist I was trying to get more drugs. Office was not wanting to provide me with a doctors excuse for work after a 4 hour procedure. DO NOT EVER COME HERE!!!

I moved to New Mexico from North Carolina and I looked online for a highly rated dentist before selecting this one. I went in for a teeth cleaning and in my 24 years I had never had a cavity when this dentist proclaimed that I had THREE. So I am used to trusting my dentist and I let her do work on my teeth. She filled my 'cavities' but I had immense amounts of pain in the one she filled so I went back and she filled it down. During the filling, I had tears streaming down my checks and I could tell the dentist felt guilty. My mom happens to work as a receptionist at a dentist and she was skeptical that I would all the sudden have three cavities after having perfect teeth my entire life so she asked to have the x-rays sent over to her office to have the dentist she works for look at them. As it turns out, I had no cavities and this dentist was scamming me. In addition, she dug so deep into my one molar tooth that now I require a root canal. I would not recommend this dentist to anyone and if they tell you something, I highly suggest getting a second opinion. I am still dealing with the pain of fixing this tooth almost a year and a half later simply because this dentist wanted to make an extra buck off my insure company.

Day Break

So I went in for a routine cleaning, after a year without one and being new to Albuquerque. They were offering a special deal on X Rays plus cleaning, so I figured it'd be worth checking out. I had already read a negative review on Yelp about this dental office shamelessly trying to upsell you multiple thousands of dollars in needless services, but I'd thought, maybe that was only one person's perspective. I won't bore you with details, but within 30 minutes of x-ray they called in a "Benefits Specialist" with a clipboard who wanted to explain a payment plan for a "deep cleaning" running over $1500. Wait, I thought I was getting a regular cleaning? "Oh but take a look at these x-rays there's a bump here you probably have advanced gum disease". WTF? At my last dentist visit nothing close to this diagnosis was given. So here we have the upsell! Then they rush me through a regular cleaning, in under 30 minutes, probably because I didn't want the "deep clean" (of my bank account). THEN these folks have the audacity to send a bill in the mail for an extra $60 on the regular clean "deal" I'd already paid $90 for. Moral of the story, trust the Yelp reviews... Don't trust these shady businesspeople

I was in a pinch, and against my better judgement, I scheduled my appointment at this location for a Friday afternoon at 1 pm. I arrived a few minutes late, but when I walked in I was greeted by staff performing and a receiving a haircut at the reception desk. Now, I've cut a few stray split ends with my scissors while on the clock before, but this was not the same at all. The young lady was in the receptionists chair, wearing a salon cape, and getting her tresses trimmed and straightened while patients were scheduled to arrive for appointments, in a DENTISTS OFFICE. Other staff were returning from lunch with laughs asking "you're still at that?", which leads me to believe it was going on for quite a while or perhaps this wasn't the first time. I've been a patient here for years and I've never been unsatisfied with the care I've received from Dr. Frye, I just wish I could have avoided his staff surrounding him.

After going to this dentist for years I went in today for a routine cleaning. After doing some general measurements, in which they dug and scrapped at my gums very hard compared to what I'm used to, basically forcing them to bleed, I was informed I had "pre-pariodontal" disease,(looked it up, doesn't exist). They than proceeded to fear monger me into believing I was going to be suffering from a number of horrible illnesses if I didn't get this worked done ASAP with a deep clean and root descaling. Their new dentist was horribly condescending, asking me what my "goals" were, and if I "wanted to keep my current teeth". She finally get around to telling my about the issue. I asked for cost, they informed me it'd be $700+(can't recall exact cost) to get the descaling done, they'd throw in the top jaw for free. And then recommended their pay plan. I said no, and they proceeded with the original cleaning. Only now it seemed I wasted to much of their time, becuase the cleaning I paid for was minimal at best and nothing compared to what I used to get. Alittle bit of research on other people's reviews show alot of this same issue. I'm going to get a second opinion, and if they are proven correct I'll change/update my review. Until than I wouldn't recommend them. The ladies at the front are the only real plus, every one of them are awesome.

Dr. Ye and her staff are very punctual, proficient, and professional . Dr. Ye identified a need for a gum tissue cleaning and a root canal and crown . I saw all of the X-rays and photos that clearly showed that I had the conditions that Dr. Ye identified . I at no time ever felt pressured to get anything other than the crown. The crown was important due to the giant cavity in my tooth and my tooth was close to breaking . She gave me a print out of all the costs and told me to think them over, I have a good insurance that covers about 80% of costs . I experienced no pain and was done within that same day . If you ever have questions about the procedures and the costs make sure you vocalize it to the staff they are more than transparent about it. All of the staff had been attentive , respectful, and helpful during each visit . I appreciate the quick but gentle care they have provided me at each visit .

Dr Joshua Frye, was extremely accommodating to my family, also the hygienist, Monique Rasmussen, was very nice and made our whole experience go smooth!!! My dental insurance was about to run out and they had a very short time limit to help us out, and take care of all our needs, and they went above and beyond to help me and my children, in a timely manner, the girls at the front desk are so helpful in arranging all appointments!!! Everyone there is very nice and helpful, they all work together to make you happy and comfortable, I have been to several dentists in my life, and this place is fabulous!!! Thanks to all of the staff for their help, glad to have you as my family's dental experience!!!!!

Customer of 6 years. Never going back again. My last cleaning I was told I have Pre-peridontal disease in one molar. They said I would need to come for cleanings at least every 4 months and if we did not get it "under control" I would need a deep root cleaning. This freaked me out. They never saw any problems like this before and all of a sudden I need this huge descaling?!? Funny thing is my sister, who is crazy obsessed with keeping her teeth clean, was just told the same thing today. They said it would cost $800?! I don't know when we stopped being able to trust these guys but I am never going back. If they recommend a deep clean RUN and get a second opinion.

The dentist them came out, promptly at my appointment time, and talked to me about my needs and the reason for my appointment. Not only that, but he asked questions about my life and seemed generally interested in me as a person, not just a patient. The whole dental team was kind and comprehensive. Everything, even the costs of work, were explained in detail. Even as my teeth were being cleaned, every step was explained to me. To be clear, I did not need or ask for this treatment. I wasn't having work done and do not have anxiety about appointments. I was treated this way simply because I felt cared for. I have already referred my friends and family and plan on being a patient for a long, long time.
