I have profound dental anxiety and neglected my teeth for too long because of it. After considerable research, I chose Academy Dental to address my dental issues. It was a studied decision and one I don't regret. I have been with them (Gallagher and team) for the better part of two years. Though I have spent a ton of money there, it has been well worth it and they are most deserving of it. They are compassionate and knowledgeable people and an enviable team. My smile and my confidence have returned to me and they never judged me harshly for neglecting them in the first place. I recommend this practice wholeheartedly. Once again another super clean by Carrie Jo. She is so thorough with a gentle touch! My teeth came out spotless! She's has always encouraged me to floss. For some reason, I have never been able to do it more than 3 weeks past my dental visit. I know it's sacrilegious to say that to a Dental Hygenist!! This visit she asked me to use a water pick. Dr. Gallagher has been my dentist since 1981. There was no reason to change. Both my kids were raised in ABQ, and he was their dentist too, until they grew up and moved away. He's a great dentist, the entire staff is welcoming and competent. They are efficient yet you never feel rushed. Upon arrival for my appointment, I barely get a magazine open before I'm already being called in. Berta is the best hygienist ever! Dr. Gallagher is semi retired now - he only works on Monday. But his partner Dr. Gonzales is superb as well.

I hated the dentist my whole life. I’ve always had terrible experience with beside manner and billing. I wanted to get Invisalign and found Chelsea. I went in for my consultation and was treated by friendly staff. The procedure and price were discussed in detail, so I knew exactly what I was getting myself into. I have had several appointments there and I LOVE all of the staff. Faith is great will billing, all the hygienist are so friendly and we laugh. Most importantly they show me how to properly care for my teeth and gums. Chelsea is always smiling! She was real with me on what I need to do on my part to ensure I get the results of the Invisalign. I love that they have expectations of their patients and it’s clear. I have had about 6 visits so far and I enjoyed every one of them. I will be spending a lot more time over the next two years there and I’m looking forward to my teeth transformation. If you are looking for a good dentist and/or Invisalign, this is the place!!!!! I wish I would have found this 25 years ago.

I'm giving Academy Dental 4.5 stars and rounding up to 5....this is further explained below. I've been seeing Dr. Gonzales and Dr. Gallagher for 2 years now, and have had fillings, some cosmetic work, and a crown done. They have a very high level of attention to detail, something I have not encountered before. I'm in the medical field, I'm from NY, and have moved around a bit, and have been to my share of dentists, and they're by far the best. The reason I took off half a star is because the level of quality and care I've received comes at a cost. They're not inexpensive, but they accept insurance; however, you get what you pay for, which is why I rounded up to 5 stars and not down to 4. While I'm living in New Mexico, I wouldn't go to any other dentist simply because it's not easy to find the level of quality and care they provide. About a month ago, my pregnant friend had a dental emergency, and she asked who I used, so I told her...again. Dr. Gonzalez's staff got her in right away. She used to use the place that has billboards all over roads and highways, but they weren't able to get her in for a week, and she's pregnant!!!! My friend really liked Dr. Gonzales, they took care of her, she thought the place was immaculate, and even mentioned that she thought the staff wore cute outfits....go figure.

Dr. Gonzales is one of the best dentist I have seen in 23 years of my dental visits. Her staff is even extremely professional and proficient. She suggests best treatment and excellent treatment options regardless of business (money) . I have never seen her or her staff in hurry to get rid of their patients and catch the next one. An excellent definition of a word 'doctor' and 'professionalism' . The only catch is finance department. I don't know why they are in rush of getting money sometimes even before treatment. There should be more stars! Academy Dental Care is first rate and an exceptional dental facility for all dental work. Coming from Maryland where I recently had a considerable amount of dental work with one of the best rated cosmetic dentists, I started having a tooth ache. So after researching the best rated dentist facility in Albuquerque, made an appointment at ADC with Dr. Gallagher. Appointment revealed at least 4 of the teeth redone in Maryland needed replacing, along with a root canal. Not such a happy day. However, going through the process of fixing the teeth, ADC is doing an exceptional job. Dr. Gonzales is reworking the teeth, making them look much better than before, along with Melissa and Jeniffer doing a great job assisting. Since this is my second time around, Cindy has made the financial part less "painful", working with me for the needed repairs. Everyone from when you walk through the door, from appointment scheduling, to teeth cleaning, to dental work and billing is truly professional. Highly recommend Academy Dental Care for all family members. They take care of you.

I hate to leave a one star review however I do believe due to the severity of the issues at hand it is necessary to explain. The dental work that I have recieved from this practice and the lies that i have been told. It was stated to me that I had qualified for a program called Donated Dental for a year. I only recieved it for five months. When i asked why am I getting this taken away from me (it was only my fifth month) I was told by one of the employees that they were going to take it away from me because and I quote "Dr. Gonzales felt that a lady needed it more then you did. (I find that very rude and unprofessional) she even tried to tell me that I must not be flossing or i just forgot to for a couple of days in a dulcet sarcastic tone. Plus i still had work that needed to be done. There is another reason why this Dental Practice is receiving a one star review from me. During one of my visits Dr. Gonzales stated to me that I needed a tooth pulled. I asked her couldn't I just get it filled? She stat and I quote "NOPE" in a kind of stern and rude tone. So Dr. Gonzales drilled a little of the tooth and sent me on my way. I spoke to another person in the dental profession. That person stated to me "No it does not need to be pulled. Just cleaned and filled". Because of the open hole in the tooth that was left. I cannot afford that. 3 years later the tooth has broken off a little at a time causing the tooth to fall out more and more. It has fallen out. Now I am on fixed income due to Multiple Sclerosis and cannot afford to go to the dentist. That is why i counted on donated dental that was taken away from me at Dr. Gonzales' discretion (allegedly). There seems to be an infection in there and it bleeds as well has an odor to it from where the tooth was at. I brush it gently at least 3 times a day and nothing seems to be working to make it better. So at this time I WOULD NOT TRUST THIS DENTIST AT ALL. She over charges and misdiagnoses in my personal opinion. Because if she did not drill the hole in the tooth and refuse to fill it. Who knows I may have the tooth to this day. Now i have to search for another dentist who is reasonable and that can fix the issue at hand. Which should have been fixed properly in the beginning. I would be hesitant to make an appointment with this dentist. If you must have any dental work done by Dr. Gonzales. Before any work is done in anyway. Check around price wise and get a second opinion. I also have three teeth that she has filled that are chipped. I asked if she could fill it she stated that she did not fill those. This has been a three plus year nightmare. I have tried to look at the positive to where I would not have to ever give this dentist a low rating. However once the tooth fell out that was it. I not only feel self conscious I have actually cried over it. I do thank whomever uses their valuable time to read this lengthy review. Thank You Thank You for your concern and offer to redo an exam and xray at no charge that is very kind of you. However I am not sure how or what that is going to accomplish. Whats done is done, I trusted you Dr. Gonzales.You telling me that i needed a tooth pulled when in fact i didn't. it fell out THREE YEARS LATER. I had considered your offer but once again i thought what is that going to solve? The tooth is already gone. Then i thought "That is very kind of her to redo those two things".So you can tell me basically nothing and then file a claim on the work you did or stated would do for free? I don't think so. As far as you consulting the whomever about donated dental, yes you are correct to a point I was told year of whatever work was needed for a year. You Dr. in fact told me that yourself. The truth? More then one of your team stated to the REAL TRUTH of the reason why I did not have it for the ENTIRE YEAR in which I was stated i would have. That as well is what is done is done. Berta, the hygienist, was an absolute joy and made the entire visit more fun and comfortable. She did a great job of explaining each step of the check-up and cleaning. I met with Dr. Gonzales toward the end, and felt that she was attentive, professional and made me feel very taken care of as a patient. Cyndi, who works the front desk, is awesome too — she was my first point of contact with this office, and even just on the phone was engaging and friendly. This seems to be an outstanding practice that is absolutely committed to giving you a world-class experience. I have a follow-up visit next month, and am looking forward to it. So far, an awesome ABQ business! Note: Felt that the office was a *little* tricky to find. Once you arrive in their plaza on Wyoming, just know that the office is toward the northern edge of the plaza, a little tucked away. Would recommend giving yourself a little extra time to find it on your first visit.

Outstanding first visit. I would give 6 stars if I could. Had the most thorough check-up and cleaning that I've ever had at a dental office. Berta, the hygienist, was an absolute joy and made the entire visit more fun and comfortable. She did a great job of explaining each step of the check-up and cleaning. I met with Dr. Gonzales toward the end, and felt that she was attentive, professional and made me feel very taken care of as a patient. Cyndi, who works the front desk, is awesome too — she was my first point of contact with this office, and even just on the phone was engaging and friendly. This seems to be an outstanding practice that is absolutely committed to giving you a world-class experience. I have a follow-up visit next month, and am looking forward to it. So far, an awesome ABQ business! Note: Felt that the office was a *little* tricky to find. Once you arrive in their plaza on Wyoming, just know that the office is toward the northern edge of the plaza, a little tucked away. Would recommend giving yourself a little extra time to find it on your first visit.

I really like the staff's professionalism and friendliness. I found Dr. Gonzales to be knowledgeable, thorough, and personable. What really impressed me is the way they matched the color of the crown to the actual color of my teeth! I've been a patient for almost 2 years and have been seen by all of the dentists and they're fantastic. It's the best care I've ever had for teeth and gums. I've had multiple crowns done and the fit has been great. I also have my teeth cleaned regularly at Academy Dental and what an incredible. They do a superior job and are knowledgeable beyond what I had been accustomed to from other dental practices. Berta, my hygienist, is awesome. It's like visiting with a friend, but I can count on her to be thorough, encouraging, and honest about the condition of my teeth and gums. She won't hesitate to ask one of the Drs to have a look at my mouth if she suspects something.

Excellent! I was blown away by the professionalism and competency of the providers at Academy Dental Care. Normally, I hate the dentist and after a bad experience…I haven’t been back to the dentist in over three years; however, my dental hygienist, Gwen, was amazing! She was kind and patient and took the time to address all of my concerns. She then made sure that the dentist, Dr. Hong, also addressed all of my concerns. They made my experience personal and I didn’t feel rushed or hurried. They also explained my x-rays and physically showed me where their concerns were on my x-rays. They have reset the standard for me regarding going to the dentist and I won’t see anyone else. They are awesome!!

When I first came to Academy Dental Care, my gums were bleeding. I had one tooth that was cracked. Dr. Gallagher removed it and installed an implant. After 50 years, I had 3 fillings that had worned down and I had 2 infections. Dr Gonzales save the molars and crowns were installed. I now floss every day. My gums and teeth are doing great now.
