Ocean Pediatric Dental is by far the best pediatric dentist in the area. I know I am so lucky that my kids actually enjoy going to the dentist now that we found this practice. I took my 2 1/2 yr old daughter there for her first visit to the dentist ever and she absolutely loved it! She was extremely nervous going there, as was I for her, but the dentist and staff there made her so comfortable she quickly got over it and actually had a really good time! She asked me the next day if you could go back, needless to say she had a GREAT experience! I would recommend this practice to everyone and I have!!

I wish I could give more than five stars! And it's a shame that their rating is brought down by people who are upset about their own insurance issues, everyone should be aware of their coverage or ask in advance, that's patient responsibility. Anyway, my 4 year old daughter is a little skiddish in new situations and she had already been to another dentist who said oh well try again in a year when she started getting difficult and scared. As soon as we got into the room at OPDA she started to get upset and despite my attempts to calm her she continued getting more scared.... Her (nurse/assistant) Donna was simply amazing... She asked me to step out of the room. About 20-25 minutes later, she exited the room to take the X-ray and by then had completed the entire exam. More importantly than being relieved my daughter received the care she needed, the first thing she said when I came back in the room was that she wanted "to come back here every day"! This will ensure that future visits will be a lot more positive and set up a lifetime of good dental health. I can't thank Donna enough for her care and understanding of exactly what my daughter needed to be comfortable and successful. Everyone I encountered was simply wonderful and I'd recommended them to everyone!!

When I first moved to New Jersey, I had a very hard time finding a dentist for my special needs daughter. Then Ocean Pediatric Dental Assoc and Dr. Elisa was recommended and off we went, I have never looked back. This practice has been a godsend for my daughter. And now unfortunately, in August will probably be our last time there as my daughter has outgrown them. Also to contradict an earlier review from someone who said they were all about the money, this is so not true, my daughter had some very extensive dental work done, and while my husband and I paid most of it, we did not have all of it, and they worked out a payment plan with us. My sister even took my nephew there upon my recommendation and they love it. Would totally recommend this practice.

We love Ocean Pediatric Dental Associates. My son was 3 when he started going to my dentist, as my dentist told me that was when he should start. Soon after that visit, we found that he had major dental problems and were referred to Ocean Pediatric Dental. My dentist did not tell me that my son should go to a dentist once he got his first tooth. Dr. Elisa told me at our first visit that he needed dental surgery; I agreed that it would be much easier for my son to take care of all the problems at once. I did not want this to be an every week issue which would turn into my son being afraid of going to the dentist. My son went under anesthesia at Community Medical Center at age 4, and the team worked on all his dental problems, as well as saved his front top two teeth. They were worried that they might have needed to be pulled. The Doctors and Staff at Ocean Pediatric Dental have taken wonderful care of my son, who is now 10. We never wait more than a few minutes for our appointments, which we love. Thank you all for you care and dedication to your patients.

I have been going to Ocean Pediatric Dental for many many years, my oldest son is now 16 years old and I have been going there since he was one years old. They were a smaller practice then. I have noticed over the years that the bigger the practice the harder it is to get an appointment. Now they joined up with Dr. Ernie for braces which I thought in the beginning was very convenient. I had 2 kids in braces at one point. Well, It is very hard to get an appointment with Dr, Ernie if you are working. As soon as my oldest son turned 16 years old they wouldn't see him for dental appointments anymore (he still had braces on) the excuse they gave me was that he didn't fit in the chair anymore, but he was able to fit in the chair when he had an ortho appointment, weird huh. Now my older son got his braces removed I have gone back 2 times for the retainers and one time they didn't fit correctly, the second time the clear ones fit correctly but the metal ones weren't ready yet so I had to once again make another appointment, then the snow storm came and they canceled the appointment on me the monday after the storm, when I called to reschedule they didn't have another appointment for 4 weeks, because I couldn't go there until after my job. The lady on the phone was very rude to me. They have many new people working there. The place isn't what it used to be. One time my youngest needed an appointment for a cavity, but because I WORK they didn't have an appointment available for 6 weeks, so I took it, the lady behind the desk told me that I shouldn't wait that long, I told her that I was coming back with my other son in 3 days can the dentist see my youngest then she told me no, so I said then I have no choice but to take that appointment 6 weeks away, she proceeded to let me know that was a very bad idea. I have no idea what she wanted me to do, I do not have the convenience of constantly taking time off work. At this point, if my youngest needs braces he will not be getting them from here I will be going to an out source place. Don't get me wrong, Dr. Ernie is really great with my kids and so are Dr. Elisa and Dr. Insano, that is the only reason I haven't left the practice and gone elsewhere. But I just wish that they would have kept the same morals they had when they were a smaller practice. Okay enough of my ranting.

I have to start off by saying, Dr. Elisa Velazquez that your front office staff are rude and unprofessional, your front office staff made my wife pay $253.00 before my daughter even sat in the dental chair, then after all said and done, your staff over billed my wife by $57.00 for work that was never done, your staff acknowledged the over billing at the end of my daughters visit and said the correct amount was $196.00 and that they would credit back the $57.00 in a couple of days to my credit card, well it was never done. It was only after, I called and was given the run around by your staff did they finally acknowledged the "OVERSITE" on the return of the $50.00 and not $57.00. The last time I did the math $196.00 minus $253.00 =$57.00, but your staff member became very condescending, when I called her on it. I then asked to speak with the office manger Mary, but I was told that she was off, I left my cell phone number for a return call. I would like to address the unprofessional behavior, while my wife sat in the waiting room, your staff were more concerned with collecting money and what they were going to order for lunch, then the over billing of my credit card. There were past incidents with regards to your office staffs poor demeanor, which they were given the benefit of the doubt. I can confidently say that my wife or I will no longer bring my daughters to Ocean Pediatric Dental Associates.

I have been taking my 4 year old to OPD since he was 18 months old. They are so great with him and he enjoys going! Crazy right? A kid being excited to go to the dentist! Of course they don't take our UHC insurance, hence can't help us with our daughter who is in pain. Nothing worse than a practice/clinic asks for your insurance and basically said "can't help you since we don't take your insurance". Wish one of these days US resolves their healthcare issue where everyone takes any type of insurance. Not only that it's hard to find practices with multiple doctors to get decent appointments, but also the selected insurance.

Going to the dentist can be a scary experience for children. The buzzing toothbrush, flossing between tight teeth and ... extractions! Dr. Matt Sones alleviates any fear that his pediatric patients might have. He gets down on their level from the minute that he introduces himself with jokes and kid-friendly explanations that make visiting a dentist less intimidating. My three daughters, ages 10, 8 and 6 love Dr. Matt so much that we left an office we had been at for 8 years and followed him to his new practice. Dr. Matt lets my girls feel like they are the ones making the choices about their dental health. They are excited to show off their well brushed teeth - especially if one is wiggling! From the big choice of which toothpaste to use during their cleanings to rinsing and spitting when they feel ready to getting their teeth painted with fluoride, the entire visit with Dr. Matt is a positive and encouraging one. Not only does he know how to deal with children, he's also good friends with the Tooth Fairy!

Ocean Pediatric Dental is definitely the best dental office I have ever used. I brought my nephew here, who has significant dental issues and they were able to completely put both he and I at ease. The office itself is truly kid friendly, with murals on the walls and games to keep them occupied while wait. But it is teh staff and the Doctors that make this place special. Everyone is so friendly and nice! Dr. Lisa took her time with me, made me understand all of our options and made me comfortable with the decision I made. I highly recommend them!

The lobby area is warm and inviting and the front desk staff is friendly and efficient. The hygienists are wonderful. The office is clean and visually appealing. If you are just going for cleanings and check up, they are fine. However, in a recent visit, I was told that my 2 year old needed 4 fillings. With insurance, the bill was over $700. When I asked questions, the dentist was curt and condescending. I just had a bad feeling. I went to get a second opinion from a less fancy office that was highly recommended. The dentist there looked at the xrays and identified 2 cavities. I then told him what Ocean Pediatric had recommended, and he was dumfounded. My daughter ended up getting two small fillings in one visit and has had no problems since. The total cost was $60. After telling a number of friends about my experience, a number of them had similar experiences. I kept getting feedback that they are "all about the money." I've never written a bad review before, but this experience was very disturbing.

Horrible Horrible experience. RUN away from this practice. They hardly take any forms of insurance and so you end up paying out of network. My network benefits are supposed to cover 90% and that has always been the case at other dentists. Not here. they charge OBSCENE amounts and won't discount or work with insurance amounts. The office staff is beyond rude and all about the money. They make you sign an acknowledgement about how much you'll have to pay after insurance. I paid. Then they dunned and dunned me for a tiny amount of money (less than $25) because they estimated wrong, rather than just writing it off. One dentist saw my child the first time and, when we came back from the procedure, the staff had scheduled us with the wrong doctor. It was a mess. I have never had such a bad experience at any doctor's office.

This was our first visit to the Dentist with our 4 year old Triplets, which was an important one as it would set the tone for future dental visits. The office is very welcoming and instantly makes your children feel very comfortable. First we had a cleaning with our Hygienist Nina, and she was so sweet, my children automatically liked her, she has the best personality. She makes what she needs to do fun, with three this can be a hard task, and let's just say I didn't know who my children were, that's how good they were for her, she has the magic touch!! Then we were seen by Dr. Linda who def is second to none, she is a natural with kids and its obvious by how your children respond to her. Nina and Dr. Linda were phenomenal,so friendly, so sweet and most important knowledge, thank you so much!!! When we left my Triplets said " That was fun, when are we coming back"? We couldn't recommend this practice more.

I strongly recommend Ocean Pediatric Dental and Dr. Elisa Velazquez. I have two children ages 17 and 8 and we are extremely pleased with the practice. From the murals to the video games, it is a child friendly environment. Support staff is polite and professional and follow up and appointment confirmations are taken care of.

My 6 year old daughter had dental work at Ocean Pediatric Dental with Dr. Velazquez. We were very apprehensive about having the work done because we didn't want her to develop a fear of going to the dentist. Dr. Velazquez listened to us, addressed our fears, and patiently answered every question we had. She went over all the details and tailored a plan around my daughter. Dr. Velazquez partnered with the anesthesiologist, Dr. Mendia, to have her sedated. The end result turned out beautifully and my daughter has no recollection of the procedure. She was able to have her dental issued corrected and now has a healthy smile and best of all she does not fear the dentist. Also, we have peace of mind knowing that she is in good hands if ever she should need dental work with sedation again in the future. My husband and I highly recommend Dr. Velazquez and the wonderful staff at Ocean Pediatric Dental to any parent whose child is in need of dental work.

These are the best group of dentists and assistants ever. They are always happy and bring a welcoming atmosphere to your child's dental visit. My son is 6 and has never had an x-ray done because he always gags when putting the piece in his mouth. They are very patient (unlike myself) and try a few times and then say we'll get it next time. They are very understanding and great with the children. I know a lot of people who highly recommend them as well. I wouldn't send anyone anywhere else.

The other day, my daughter was having awful tooth pain and I needed to bring her to Ocean Pediatric Dental immediately. I feel so lucky that I called first thing in the morning and they saw just a few hours later. It was amazing- I brought her in and less than a few minutes later, she was being checked out.
