I don’t want to be the person to leave a negative review on here, considering all the good ones, but my experience here was really quite pathetic. As a new client at this facility, I was feeling really positive about coming here at first. I had read the online reviews which were all outstanding and great, and my first impression talking to the receptionist was pleasant. But my experiences here took a turn and started going downhill very quickly. The day of this incident I received 4 unnecessary fillings from the dentist, and about 20 minutes into the procedure, he broke his drill off inside my mouth. He paused and told me the drill broke, and assured me that the pieces were pulled out from the suction. He and the assistant spent the next hour finishing the procedure and didn’t notice the drill piece still lying inside my mouth. I left the appointment with no notice that there could still be pieces of drill in my mouth, nor was I informed of the possibility before the procedure. Being completely numb, I had no feeling on the side of my mouth until later that evening when I went to go check the area over. Within literally 1 second of looking in the mirror, I saw that there was a foreign object sitting in the gum area of my mouth. It was the drill piece. (see photo) I emailed the office my concern with a photo of the drill piece attached and was completely dumbfounded when I received a response from not the dentist, but the office manager. No apology was given and my serious concern of having dental tools left inside my mouth to them was no big deal. It was brushed off as a common occurrence. Yet, I’ve never heard of this happening, this was not disclosed in the consent form, nor was I notified about the possibility before the procedure. Only after having a long discussion about basic common sense and courtesy with the office manager did I even receive a call from the dentist which ended up being a rather insincere “I’m sorry you feel this way.” kind of apology. He asked me what should have been done differently in the situation; I briefly started to respond before he obnoxiously interrupted me and unhinged his defensive ego. Had the situation been handled differently and my concern taken seriously, this would be a very different review. I am mind-blown and astounded at the negligence and pitiful service I received here. I honestly expected so much more out of this dentist and was confused at the lack of basic bedside manner and integrity he has. I honestly did not expect this kind of treatment and downright carelessness from such a highly rated dental facility. Treating patients as if they are a burden to you and pushing their concerns under the rug, really isn’t the best way to have good customer satisfaction, and goes against all of the morals advertised on their website. The words and actions I experienced from the dentist at this facility really show that he did not value me as a patient.

I have always dreamt of getting veneers due to a few teeth I’m the front of my smile being set back making every picture I took look like I was missing teeth therefore making me quite self conscious of ever smiling a big happy beautiful smile. While living back home in Minnesota for some time I decided to finally go for it and had known of river valley dental through family and friends in the area so I took the plunge and was beyond blown away by my entire experience. Dr. Pooley is a perfectionist who did amazing work and I get tons of compliments on my smile that I know show loud and proud everyday all day boosting my confidence high into the sky. He and all the staff also made me feel very comfortable yet everyone is very professional and catered to each and every question or need I had. I had had a few consultations throughout the years with cosmetic dentist in Beverly Hills and Chicago but never felt fully comfortable in their offices so I’m so glad I chose River Valley Dental. They couldn’t possibly have made the entire experience and after care questions etc any better plus my veneers are phenomenal and perfect. I would tell anyone I know who was liking to get veneers to go to Dr. Pooley and even jsit for basic dental care needs. They have all the top of the line new and best equipment and the best staff as well. I cannot thank everyone there enough for basically changing my life for the very best and providing me with a smile I could never have even imagined possible!

Computers shut down during cleaning (had to restart) and again during the exam with the dentist. I got the impression that the hygienist was a newer employee but has been there for 9 years. It didn’t feel like the cleaning reflected the experience but did manage to ask if I work and where am I originally from (is it cuz I don’t look caucasian?) The dentist stated he would check the photos from previous records later and let me know if he sees anything. Hygienist forgot to get the estimate of the cost of the fluoride (obviously the insurance wasn’t checked prior) but did give me my goodies on my way out of door. Don’t even know if I have a bill now since the computers were down.

They are very transparent about pricing and have great customer service! They made me feel very comfortable during my first appointment and really listened to my concerns. They have a screen in front of you that shows you what they are looking at on their screen so you can see the photos of your teeth, the x-rays, and any other notes. No other dental office has made me feel that involved in my treatments, and their prices are pretty good. I'll be recommending others to go here!

To start, I have dental anxiety. Second, I do not have dental insurance. Both of these things kept me from visiting a dentist for quite some time, but my wisdom teeth were making it difficult to ignore. When I heard about the $30/month program at RVD I immediately enrolled and committed to booking an appointment. Good thing I did... What a great experience! They made me feel so at ease and not at all guilty for having gone so long without a visit. I was able to get everything caught back up and make some plans for maintenance and. I now have several future appointments scheduled to make it a regular thing. This place is THE BEST!

I just went here for the first time and I am very impressed. The previous clinic I used had been giving me some conflicting information and I felt a little "out of the loop" for my own dental care. After seeing Dr. Pooley, I am immediately feeling more informed and confident about my dental health. I have a clear picture of what I need done and why, what should be done right away and what we can "keep an eye on" for now. I needed a referral and they scheduled the appointment for me while I waited. I was even sent an itemized estimate of my out of pocket costs. I'm very happy I switched clinics.
