Great staff and great doctors. Both Charles and Paul Mendez were very professional and informative. Had a root canal done and was in and out before I knew it. During the procedure, Dr. Mendez informed me of what he was doing as he was doing it. I was in no pain at all once the novacaine kicked in. Would highly recommend to everyone.

From a young age I was traumatized and hated going to a dentist, entering dentist office and the smell alone made me sick but years later I found Mendes Family dentistry on 550 Snelling ave s, St. Paul, Mn. We have been patients to this dental office for a good 30 years. My families members and I have been seen by Dr Mendes Sr. and now with Dr Mendes Jr. It started by accident. We were new to this country. I made dental appointments for my mother and her cousin to another dental office. But they mistakenly showed up at Mendes dental office instead. They were not speaking English well but they told front desk that they did have dental appointments. Dr Mendes Sr. agreed to see both of them. He did a fine job fixing their teeth. We found out later that they showed up at wrong dental office. We apologized to the doctor months later. My mother never stopped talking about how nice services she received and how happy she was. The rest is history. Mendes Family Dentistry have taken care of my families dental problems for all these years. We never had any problem coming in for visits and quite happy that we can always count on them to provide professional services. We highly recommend this dental office and still refer our friends and families when they need dental help.

I had the best experiences with both dentists at this practice. Everyone who works here is respectful and professional. I was relieved to find such a caring place after going to three different dentists who over-diagnosed me with cavities, did terrible jobs filling them (pain for 8 weeks), and would not treat me the same as others because of my insurance. Worst experience I have had at a dental appointment!! I went in for an exam and cleaning. They found several cavities I needed filled and had scheduled an appointment to return to have the fillings done. Once he began drilling I felt pain and let them know. He told me it was because of how deep the decay was and close to the nerve and continued drilling. It was a horrible pain. I have never felt so disregarded. I did not return to get the rest of the cavities filled. I went to another dentist and after doing a consultation they said that I only had 2 cavities they saw instead of the 7 they said I needed. Disappointed to say the least. I will not be returning. Yuk Foo

I just went here for my first cleaning today. It's been 5+ years, so I expected some grief and pain, but all the staff here was very kind, gentle, and understanding of my situation. They made quick work of the half-decade of solidified buildup on my chompers (with surprisingly little pain) and took the time to show me exactly where my worst problem spots were. TL;DR: I would highly recommend Mendes to anyone looking for a dentist.

The entire staff is wonderful. Our family has been seeing Dr. Charlie for years-since our adult children were little. How fun that some of us have transitioned into seeing Dr. Paul ( Charlie's son). Both are compassionate and understand when you are nervous about coming in! They are so good with children, which is great when introducing your children to the dentist. I wouldn't go anywhere else!

I was looking for a dentist after moving to St. Paul and I'm glad I found Mendes Family Dentistry! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful -- they went out of their way to make an effort to connect with me. I saw the elder Dr. Mendes, who was friendly, quick, and attentive; I didn't wait more than ten minutes for anything, which is a rarity for dentist offices nowadays. And, it was easy to get an appointment. I was very impressed and will be back!

Called to try and setup an appointment as a new patient and the Receptionist was rather unfriendly and very unhelpful. After asking for my information, she said she had to call me back so she can put my info into the system. I've never received a call back. Don't waste your time. Find another clinic that will be happy to help.

I have been going to Dr Mendes for the past 8 years and he has provided excellent care. He has offered reasonable and thoughtful solutions and and is the ultimate professional. My husband is also a patient of Dr Paul and he recently had to have his front 4 teeth replaced. He was obviously nervous that his "new" teeth would look natural and even more important that they would feel natural. We also were just getting ready to leave for vacation so needed the work done in a shortened time period. The office did a phenomenal job of reworking their schedule to accommodate us and followed up with the lab to make sure they would be ready on time. His new teeth are in and they are beautiful! Like his natural teeth only way better. And they fit perfectly. It so exceeded his expectations. We would both highly recommend Mendes Dental to anyone looking for great dental care!

Worst dental experience EVER! I've lived in 4 major cities in addition to the Twin Cities, so I've used a range of dentists. Needed to have 4 teeth extracted and Mendes Sr. shamed me throughout the entire procedure in front of his son/dentist and staff saying things like "this is the worst I've ever seen." After procedure, I was abruptly left sitting in the dental chair when a hygienist came by and asked, "What are you waiting for?" The receptionist took TWO phone calls as I stood in front of her waiting for my pain prescription. Rude. Unprofessional. Uncompassionate. DO NOT GO HERE!

Previously coming to Mendes Family Dentistry, I had a poor experience with a root canal which caused my tooth to look a little bit gray. I felt terrified to go back to the Dentist. The staff is hospitable and efficient. Both Dr. Charles Mendes and Dr. Paul Mendes took every step to ensure that my tooth would be back to the way I wanted it to look. First, they encouraged but not solicited me on whitening my teeth. Next, they sent me to a specialist who specifically curated a color to match my tooth. Lastly, on the appointment day the process went quickly and I was in out with 3 crowns. My tooth looks amazing, and I couldn't be happier with the way it turned out. They were flexible with me on times and able to complete this procedure in a month. I'm forever grateful!

There us no way were are talking about the same place Unless as I suspected they are discriminatory against patients with MA ( medical assistance) Everyone especially the lady at the front desk was incredibly rude everytime i call or go in. Doctor menendez himself the older one actually hung up on me I'm in severe pain and trying to get a tooth pulled and he keeps only trying to prescribe me only tramadol which im allergic to. I still have a week before my extraction I am im severe pain and cant get help

I retained Dr. Charles Mendes as my personal dentist on April 14, 2010 and I am always very pleased wth his practice and care. He pracitices together with son Paul. I moved here to St Paul from Washington DC. I found Dr. Mendes by consulting the Twin Cities Consumers Checkbook Review of Dentists in the Twin Cities area. In its dentist practice review, Mendes Family Dentistry was highlighted as one of the highest rated and most resonably priced dentists in all of Ramsey County. As he was at the top of the listing, I chose to engage Dr. Charles Mendes. Six years later I am stilling seeing him on a regular semi annual basis. My last routine visit was in July and it was also time for me to have new teeth X-rays. I expected, as has been the tradition in all dentistries for decades, to have to clamp tightly the hard pastic X-ray film cardholder in my mouth with one edge pressing uncomfortably into the upper roof of my mouth the the lower edge resting inside my jaw. But this time that did not happen!! I simply briefly held a small electronic receiver comfortably in my mouth, and within minutes digitized images of my teeth were available to see on a computer screen. A once somewhat physically discomforting process that once took almost an hour to complete is now done effortlessly with no discomfort at all in mere minutes! This is an example of how the Mendes Familay Dentistry is not resting on it laurels and is constantly seeking the most modern technology and services. I also recall from conversation with Dr Mendes after my July appointment, that his dentistry now has established its own in-house bridge and crown foundry casting capability within the Dentistry. This means the bridges and crowns can be ready for installation only a day or two after measurements are taken. There is no longer the multiple weeks long wait for a third party foundry to fill an order. Mendes Family Dentistry is now a rarity in densistry- It provides good service at good prices and it is vertically integrated to be able to almost immediately make the bridges and crowns necessary for your mouth care. If you are currently a frequent business traveler, like I once was, this is a very important point!. In summation, If you seek the best service at the best prices, and you want assurance your new crowns or bridges can be measured, made, and fitted before your trip aboard next week, BETTER CALL CHARLIE or BETTER CALL PAUL!

The office staff & dental assistants call me by name & and have been very accommodating & flexible with scheduling -- the office is very efficiently managed so I've rarely waited more than a few minutes in the waiting room. They saw me and helped immediately! In addition, my previous dentist told me that I'd have to get the tooth pulled. Dr. Mendes saved my tooth and relieved my pain! We've been seeing Dr. Charles Mendes for 25 years. A few years ago his son, Dr. Paul Mendes, joined his dad's practice. They are absolutely excellent. I've no idea why anyone would give them a low rating, so I had to jump in and counter those perceptions. Sometimes dental care is expensive, but in cases where expense was an issue I've had nothing but helpful cooperation, with a realistic assessment of essential treatment and treatment that could be delayed. Their office is up-to-date and well equipped; for example, their x-rays are top-notch and much safer than older equipment. This is a friendly family practice with highly trained professionals!
