We had been at our previous pediatric dentist for 10 years. At the time, they were one of the first in the state, but on our last couple of visits, we felt like things were slipping and it wasn't convenient to our home any longer. We started searching and I came across Maplewood Pediatric Dentistry and I will say that the reviews won me over, but I tend to go into new places regarding medical/dental with a critical eye. We scheduled all 3 of our kiddos for their cleanings/checks and from the moment we walked in to the moment we left, we felt very well taken care of. Each hygienist came to introduce themselves to each kid. They told us the color room each would be in and let us float from one room to the next with ease. They were friendly with our kids while they worked efficiently. We very much liked that it was bright, colorful and full of animal paintings. There were no screens anywhere which made it feel much calmer and to be honest, as parents, we loved this aspect. Kids don't need screens in their faces as the go to distraction. The dentist was also friendly and informative. We were given info as we went along and follow up instructions. I felt relieved walking out knowing we had found our new dentist. I would highly recommend MPD to anybody looking for a dentist for their kiddos!!!

Very nice staff! I love the color theme rooms, and the child play area. This dentist was amazing with my 2 kids, one which was not too familiar with the process, but they were very patient. Did not rush through the process, talked to the kids through everything, and made sure they were comfortable and undertstanding of their tools and their dental plan. I would recommend this dentist to anyone with children.

This place is amazing! My daughter is 5 and has some sensory and anxiety issues, and needed a filling. Our previous dentist was recommending sedation because my daughter was not comfortable letting them attempt the filling. I wasn't sold on that being the best option so decided to try again somewhere else. The staff here built a great rapport with my daughter and made her feel comfortable. They could tell when to push a little and when to back off and distract her for a moment. They kept her engaged and focused and had no problems getting the filling done. I am so thankful for them and the care they put into their patients. I will be switching my other kiddo here as well!

Several friends recommended Dr. Mielke, so we made an appointment and we've been very happy right from the start. Every staff member treats us with respect. My son has special needs and this facility has amazed me from the second we walked in. Not only do they have plenty of toys and play areas for children to be preoccupied while waiting for their appointment, they have everything color coded and built to amaze children. My son loves how pretty the colors are in each room and loves the prize wall. They do such a great job making my son feel as comfortable as he can. We drive 2 hours to come to this facility and we don't plan on going anywhere else!

Our first consultation visit was great! My 5 year old daughter whispered to me while the dental assistant (Dianne) was out getting the dentist that she "really likes this place." The staff have some really child friendly tricks up their sleeve and make the kids feel so safe there. Although we really liked her previous dentist, my daughter was referred here for some more extensive pediatric dental work. I think we're going to make this our primary dental clinic for our children. How could you not?

Took my 2.5 year old daughter for her FIRST dentist experience. I am beyond impressed. My daughter is very shy and takes a while to warm up. I saw a different side of her today! She felt comfortable from the moment we pulled into the parking lot and she saw that it was “lello” (yellow) her favorite color. She was able to push the buttons to move the chair, and Wendy explained each tool to her! She wore sunglasses for the bright light and got to pick a prize off their prize wall when she was all done! If you’re looking for a dentist who truly knows how to make children enjoy going to the dentist and fee comfortable THIS is IT! I was not going to write anything but since you guys want to know.... I brought my daughter to you guys for her first visit, the dentist came in, no x-rays, no real exam just had her lay back and open her mouth for about a min if that, and said she needed 6 or 7 caps and a few small fillings..... we left with our daughter and brought her for a 2nd opinion "i told the other place she needed her first exam so it was starting on a clean slate!" paid out of pocket because you guys billed my insurance, she needed 1 caps and a few small filling! So if I gave you a 1 star why would we come back lmao no thanks! I will say if anyone goes here get a second opinion! I will never recommend this place to anyone even if it's the only place standing!

Both of my sons were comfortable coming here. I was grateful that they worked with me to set up a payment plan for extensive dental work my son required after breaking a tooth. However, at no time was I told they could not be seen for the dental cleanings while I paid off the balance. They are due for a cleaning and are being refused to be seen! My balance was over $1500 and with the payment plan they agreed to, is down to $245 remaining after 6 months. The payments are made automatically with my Health Savings Account. Not only that, I have insurance and the dental cleaning I was attempting to schedule is 100% covered. I am so disappointed that they refused to make an appointment for my sons to be seen for their cleanings. I was totally disrespected on the phone and made to feel like I did something wrong because I had a balance. I have never ever missed a payment in our agreed upon arrangement. Nothing like making your patients feel like garbage...what a shame.

First I was told they wouldn't accept our government insurance. Then I offered to pay cash. I was told that would be illegal which is total BS. Then apparently they "would make an exception because of the referral from our primary dentist." Upon arrival I notified them that I would opt out of x-rays due to protecting my child from further injuries and they agreed to the exam. Upon arriving Dr. Claire agreed with our primary dentist that the tooth needed to be extracted due to the likeliness of a deep cavity and absess on my four year old's gum, however she refused us service without x-rays and said, "I won't risk losing my license." Nice bed side manner lady. Overall, these people came off as money hungry liars who truly don't care about children.

I have never had an unenthusiastic employee here. They make your child feel extremely comfortable and not afraid. They never do anything unnecessary for their own benefit. The only complaint is not being able to turn left into the lot.

This was our first experience with Maplewood Pediatric Dentistry (first dentist appointment for our 23-month old) and we had a wonderful experience. The waiting room is very large and has a wide variety of fun toys and cars for to keep the kids occupied while waiting. All the toys appeared clean and well kept. And they even had a jungle gym with a slide! Our daughter had a great time waiting, as did we. The rooms themselves are adorable. Each one has a hand-painted mural with a different animal theme in each room. Everything was extremely well kept and clean. And the staff: everyone was very friendly and helpful. Both the assistant and the dentist were super sweet with our daughter and made it as comfortable for her as possible. She didn't even cry! I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone. And no, they did not pay me to say this

I was nervous how my 3 year old would do at his first dentist appointment but maplewood pediatric made it so easy! He loved the waiting room play fort and when it was time to clean his teeth the hygienist Alix was so sweet with him and showed him everything she was using so he wouldn't be scared, and he LOVED it! I'm so happy we found this place, anyone with kiddos cannot go wrong!

Clean, friendly, and welcoming environment. Dr Claire and Dr Michele are GREAT with my children's from nice and friendly, to calming and gentle, comfortable, and careful at explaining how to treat my children's teeth. The last couple of times that we visited, they keep me informed of any treatment changes. They are doctors that I trust to care for my children's like their own. Definitely will be our primary dentistry until the kids are older.
