Worked here for almost 3 weeks . I wouldn't even let my mom come to this clinic or even and enemy ! The doctor is very rude and unprofessional with employees and rude to customers . She ( Dr.alvi) expects employees to lie to the patients about almost everything ! Even things that there is no need to lie about ! Didn't feel comfortable doing so or even staying apart of that clinic. She does things for the money only !

I had a couple cavities filled roughly a year ago. A few months after, I had some pain but I just put it off until it was unbearable. I went to a different dentist and he told me the fillings had already cracked. I've had fillings that have lasted years and West Somerville Dental could not make them last a few months. Do not go here if you want quality work that will last as long as expected.

Dr. Alvi and all the staff at WSDA are the kindest, most professional team I could ever ask for. When I need to get full dentures, she was able to pull a great number of my teeth with NO PAIN whatsoever! My new dentures are a wonderful fit, and no one realizes that they are not my own teeth. The staff was very helpful in helping me to finance all of this, and are always prompt, friendly, and knowledgable. Clean, lovely office, with free WIFI, comfortable seating, and even a children's play area.

Edit: changing it from 3 to 1 star. They called back and pretty much trying to dodge responsibility of the bad filling they did claiming that it's been 2 yrs and filling generally last about 2 yrs. Complete bull, I had 2 they filled the same day and they were next to each other one came un done and the other is still there. And I had another filling done 3 yrs ago by a completely different dentist in Arlington that I've had no problem with. I haven't eaten anytime on that side of my mouth for 2 yrs because of the pain, so tell me how that isnt a result of low quality work on their end. Stay away from this place! They will try to get money from you and not stand by their work. I wish I've never gone to them in the first place! Read the review of the ex employee about their practices, they guy who's filling didn't last 6 months, and the person who mention them suggesting needing excessive work done. It's 3 stars because of the friendly front desk staff. It would be 1 otherwise. I had a filling done 2 yrs ago and the teeth had been sensitive since then. Each time I went in they said it was because of grinding and I should get a night guard and use anti sensiticity toothpase and mouthwash. Which I've always used. I visited another dentist recently that found out the filling has come lose and was why it was so sensitive. I couldn't even think to eat on that side of my mouth let alone touch it with anything cold. I had to get the filling redone. And the night guard I paid over $700 for never fit. I took it in to get it fitted and it still didn't fit. They kept saying try it for 2 weeks and see what happens. Except, it kept coming out over night and was so uncomfortable it made my teeth feel worse in the morning from having to bite down go keep it in. I took it in to my new dentist and they fixed it in that 1 visit. They had to add liquid acrylic to get it to fit my mouth. Of couse, when the acrylic wears off, it'll be back to being useless. I'm still waiting on their management to respond to my request for refund because this is just unacceptable. And during my last cleaning, early 2017, the hygienist was "done" in 15 minutes. I mentioned this to the dentist and they gave me a whitening tray in consolation not an offer to reschedule to redo the cleaning. They also told me I needed 3 more fillings, which my new dentist said isnt the case. Not that I would risk getting 3 more fillings done there when the last one had become a source of so much pain. So, go at your own risk.

My experience here so far has been wonderful. Their online scheduling is extremely convenient and they worked with me extensively on my insurance to ensure that I understood what everything would cost me. They create estimates without a request that detailed my exact cost for each procedure. A really caring staff who works hard to make you feel welcome.

I have had nothing but good experiences with West Somerville Dental. I had been without a dentist for many years when one of my teeth cracked. We chose WSD mainly because they were covered by our insurance, but I am glad we did. I ended up needing a root canal (which was completely painless). Every step of the way the dental and front desk staff reviewed my options and costs before any work was done. I have continued to go to WSD for the last few years for my regular cleanings, and my husband and small children have started going, too. They are also super flexible about appointment changes!

DO NOT GO HERE. I would give this zero stars if I could. For the last seven years I've been to the dentist 10 times for a root canal they did, except I never went back there after they did my root canal because it was one of the worst dental experiences of my life. Today I found out that after losing my crown for the 10th time in seven years that I'll need several thousand dollars worth of restorative repairs and bone graphs to fix the carnage they inflicted on my mouth with the butchered root canal they did. It was so bad the dentist I saw today asked me if I had it done in a third world country. The root canal next to it was done by Gentle Dental seven months after West Somerville did my first one and I've had no issues and it's still perfect condition. I would seriously advise ever coming here unless you want to keep spending money other places to have their shotty, terrible work fixed. Please I beg of you, NEVER COME HERE, you'll regret it the rest of your life.

I'm currently on travel sabbatical and am visiting old friends in Somerville. I was walking past the office on my way to the market and decided to give them a call because I have a chipped tooth that's been bothering me. The entire office staff were professional, prompt, and transparent! I was so impressed with how quickly they were able to schedule me in and how honest they were with pricing. This was VERY refreshing as a dollar goes a long way while traveling. My hygienist did a great job cleaning my teeth and showed me something with my gums I've never been shown before! The dentist (whose name I can't recall) did a wonderful job providing me quick respite from my abrasive chipped tooth! I highly recommend their office! Thanks again!

Excellent hospitality from the front desk staff, the dental hygienists and the dentists and specialists. I received a hand-written thank you after my last visit and was thrilled that that level of service still exists. I've since moved out of Somerville but will continue to go to this dental office.

I have been going to them since the beginning of 2017, before that I have not been going to the dentist for 7 years. They did a deep cleaning and fixed my cavity and then regular cleaning since. Last week I did a root canal with Dr. Alvi. I was extremely nervous about the procedure, I have heard horror stories about it, about how painful it will get afterwards and you can get severe infection and blablabla. Dr. Alvi was very nice and understanding when I expressed my concerns. The procedure was quite long, about 2 hrs, but I did not feel anything during it. and afterwards! My coworkers were a little shocked the next day when I told them I did a root canal the day before and was totally fine and functional the next day! Very happy about the process. Also the people who handle insurance and payment are very professional and patient. They go out of their way to find the best way for me to get the service I need with the least out of pocket money. So far I have dealt with 3 front desk ladies (sorry can't remember their names), they are all good! All the hygienists who worked on my teeth are very good as well! The environment is clean and pleasant! Overall I am very satisfied about their services, and will definitely continue going there unless I need to move very far away!

I was an extremely satisfied patient at West Somerville Dental for over 10 years then the practice was sold. I continued to have a great experiences with cleanings but very bad experiences with dental services and billing. It is my opinion they are looking for profit and money making opportunities above what is best for their patients dental health. I stopped trusting them and felt forced to move onto a new dentist. Very unfortunate.

They are very patient in explaining any procedures or requirements and do an excellent job when in whatever task they are required to do. From my past 15 years with this clinic I would whole heartedly recommend them.

As the previous reviewers have documented, this is a well run operation which still has that human touch which provides comfort in what could otherwise be an intrusive procedure. On this past appointment, I had a cleaning with a hygienist who has a gifted touch of bringing my teeth to their highest potential, while teaching me on how to maintain this level of quality between visits.

Very very worst experience !!!! I have pain in my teeth. I scheduled an appointment and went there. I asked them I have my masshealth insurance to cover my tooth extraction in emergency. They said their server is not working and they can’t check my eligibility. After my check up, I come back to the front desk. I have to pay $127 for my check up only. And they gave me a bill of amount $338 if I want to extract my tooth. Although my incurrence cover the tooth extraction in emergency, I have to pay $127 without doing nothing and they were asking $338 amount more for the tooth extraction. I think, it is a kind of another way to rub your pocket. Saying our server is not working and I can’t check your insurance eligibility. And surprisingly it had happened in this country.

West Somerville Dental has proven to provide excellent dental services to me for more than five years, from the standard preventative cleaning services, to replacing two teeth with crowns. Dr. Alvi is easy to communicate with and the front office staff is always pleasant and responsive. Christina is very knowledgeable and knows the ins and outs of how to process claims through insurance. I have recommended them to both friends and family members, and continue to do so, based on the high quality dentistry and customer service they provide.

I had the best appointment I've ever had. I felt comfortable and relaxed, and as someone who hates getting their teeth cleaned, that is saying a lot. The four stars, however, is a result of never hearing back about getting a mouthguard. I was told I would be contacted by them and my insurance regarding if it would be covered by insurance and I never heard back from either. This makes me think that a claim was never filed. Either way, poor communication and follow through.

I was super nervous about getting some cavities filled because it was my first time, but everyone was incredibly friendly and reassuring! I was in and out in half an hour and didn't feel a thing during the procedure!
