I walked in with an abcessed tooth on a Friday afternoon. The staff at the front desk was incredible and fit me in. Dr. Moon saw me immediately and prescribed antibiotics. Dr. Moon is the most calm, wonderful, professional dentist I have ever been around. They make it so you aren't afraid of the dentist!

I was beyond afraid of trying a new dentist. I'm a huge baby when it comes to my teeth. Dr Moon was so calm, yet detailed about the work I needed done he already started easing my anxiety. For the 1st time in my life I did not need rx pain meds after 2 root canals. Blown away! The next visit was 4 extractions and 2 temp crowns. Again no rx pain meds. I just got my new bridge and am smiling again for the 1st time in years. This is the best dental practice, period. I will recommend them to any and all people I know. Dr. Moon is amazing, his assistants are awesome, the office staff are great, hands down the best group of professionals I have ever dealt with in my life. If your a coward like me or a pro I truly hope you'll give Dental Care at Eldersburg a try. Great location and a beautiful welcoming environment.

Dr Knight insisted that I needed a deep cleaning and refused to do regular cleaning! Another local dentist and an orthodontist confirmed that I did NOT have deep periodontal pockets and did not need an expensive and painful deep cleaning!

I hadn't been to the dentist in over ten years. One bad experience as a teen, followed by lackluster care as an adult, left me scared to death. I had a bad toothache in my lower back molar and that pain began spreading into my jaw and my ear. I survived for three months on ibuprofen and Tylenol, took up smoking so I wouldn't feel so hungry, and dealt with it. Until I couldn't do it anymore. I walked into the office yesterday and began crying as I told the reception my name. Cried when I was in the exam room. Cried when I had to open my mouth. I'm a crybaby. The hygienist was absolute gold. She was patient and kind, didn't make me feel like I was the worlds largest pain in the butt, soft spoken, and gentle. She stayed with me the whole time. Dr. Knight isn't like any other dentist I've ever met. He doesn't have the attitude like he's better than everyone else, he's super down to earth. I came back this morning at 9am for my extraction. They gave me medicine to take last night and again this morning, something to calm my anxiety, and it worked. I also was given laughing gas and headphones, where an assistant played Prince as loud as I needed so I couldn't hear the tools being used. It was SO much easier than I ever imagined it would be. I will now progress in the future without my paralyzingly fear of the entire dental office. I'm 45 years old, and for the first time in my life I feel like I have found a lifelong dental practice. I'm still skittish, but I'm not terrified. That's a huge accomplishment that could not have happened without the help and care of everyone at Eldersburg Commons dental. I highly recommend to anyone with fear of the dentist. Let me add that my son has somehow changed the screen name on my google review thing and I have no clue how to change it back.

A. Dr. Knight is gone and he was great. B. They have rescheduled our appointments too many times for comfort. I had a Saturday appt for my kids that was booked for MONTHS and they call me 2 days before to tell me that they aren't able to do it now. They try to push me into an appointment for the week that we are on vacation. Don't waste your time. This place has gone DOWNHILL. I chose this place for the Saturday appointments so that I don't have to take off work and now those are the only appointments they'll give me. Done- moving on.

Went in for the $65 teeth cleaning from the flyer, they said I had 4 cavities and needed $1,200+ worth of work. Worried, I went to my cousin who is a dentist to see if I could maybe get a family discount, and my cousin said that I didn't have any cavities at all! Be careful! These guys will try to convince you that you need a lot of unnecessary dental work using the cheap tooth cleaning to lure you in. This should be illegal!

Just had to take the time out to give well deserved positive review about Dr. Ryan Knight DDS, MS in Eldersburg. I recently had to switch dentists due to some changes with my dental insurance. I loved my previous dentist but despite that still hated going for work. I was super reluctant to start seeing a new physician but did not have a choice. One of the things that first caught my attention when I arrived at Dr. Knight’s office was a small picture frame in the waiting area that was awarded to him for high proficiency in clinical care and pain management. I didn’t think much about it at first but after being under his care, I understand the great significance of it. His numbing technique is staged and he uses the smallest needles. In the end, I felt absolutely no pain whatsoever and couldn’t believe anything was even injected into me. The beauty of all this beyond the obvious is that I had no idea how traumatic the typical method of injections most dentists employ can be. I had a cap repaired on a molar with my previous dentist that gave me horrific pain for several months. I was so sure it was infected but after going back to the office I was told there was absolutely no sign of infection. I finally concluded that the pain was from consequent trauma in the area caused by the numbing injection affecting the surrounding nerve. So here I was with Dr. Knight again having to have another cap replaced and was very worried about it. Much to my surprise I had a cavity filled and the cap taken off and replaced with a temporary one and left the place with ABSOLUTELY no pain whatsoever. I figured in the morning both areas would probably be hurting however I woke up in the am with NO PAIN. This has profoundly changed my fear of going to the dentist. After all these years, I’m starting to realize that how your physician numbs you makes all the difference in the world. I don’t think in general people realize the damage that injections can cause to surrounding tissues. Most of the problems resolve but can take months. Dr. Knight is very knowledgeable, proficient and has an excellent bedside manner. The office is state of the art and the staff is outstanding including the dental hygienists and techs….love Alexa !! The front desk staff is also wonderful as well. I have had an outstanding experience with the Eldersburg Commons Dental Care and feel that we are very lucky to have had them open their practice in Eldersburg

It is exceedingly difficult for me to write a negative review on this establishment however I do it for the sake of the patients. As a physician assistant who has worked in cardiac surgery for 25 years I feel compelled to share with you my recent experience with Dr. Moon which I found to be alarming. Unaware that Dr. Knight had left the practice, I made an emergent appointment for what I presumed was an abscess causing me excruciating tooth discomfort. I explained to Dr Moon that I was having horrific pain that was substantially alleviated with a gram of amoxicillin, but that Tylenol did absolutely nothing for it. I also mentioned that I recently had undergone plantar fasciotomy and could not take anti-inflammatories for a month. Just hearing that amoxicillin helped with the pain should have made him think possible infection. He took an x-ray and told me it was normal and that there was no indication of infection. He did refer me to an endodontist and explained that they would take sophisticated x-rays or scans that he did not have at his office. I met with the endodontist, Dr Yelena Kholodenko, who after taking a simple x-ray informed me that I had an abscess that needed root canal. Coincidentally, she had the x-ray from Dental Care at Eldersburg Commons right next to the one she had taken. The x-rays looked identical. She mentioned to me that it was very plain to see. I asked her how Dr. Moon could have missed this and she very simply said……I don’t know. In no way was she criticizing Dr Moon, she was just real matter of fact about the x-ray and more concerned about my condition. We all have made mistakes on our jobs but at this juncture if a dentist cannot read a very simple x-ray then I strongly believe they shouldn’t be practicing in this field or they should go back for remediation. For the average person this is not too big a deal but for someone who has cardiac valvular disease or perhaps has undergone cardiac valvular replacement in the past, this could have easily turned into a case of endocarditis. What is that? Essentially it means that your heart valve that has a condition or has been replaced is being attacked by an infection in your blood stream. In this case it would have come from the infected tooth which is a common source of endocarditis. At times this can be treated with a strong cocktail of antibiotics and a long hospital stay or in the worst-case scenario you would need to have your affected valve replaced. So, if you were the person that already had a valve replacement and now must undergo a redo-replacement, your mortality rate just about doubles. Since it was Friday in the late afternoon when I saw Dr Moon, I could not see the endodontist until Monday. This gave the infection 3 whole days to fester which would easily give a person with cardiac valvular issues enough time to develop endocarditis. I really feel bad about this review but as a health care provider, I feel strongly that we must ALWAYS do what is right for the patient which is why I want the patients of this office to be aware. Deep down inside I also feel like Dr Moon thought I was looking for narcotics. That is just my assumption of course but the rest of the story folks are the cold hard facts. I really felt 100% confident with Dr. Knight and am so sorry he is gone. I will not be returning to this office nor will I be referring any friends or family. The one positive thing I can say about Dr Moon is that he is very nice but I need a hell of a lot more than that from my dentist.

Excellent Dentist! My son who is 12 years old had to go to the dentist because his baby teeth would not fall out. His adult teeth were starting to come in as well. After getting a thorough examination it was decided that he needed 5 baby teeth pulled. My son became very upset and anxious. We had to leave because he was to scared to have the teeth removed. Once my son was calmed done I took him back to the Dental Care and they discussed options to help reduce the anxiety he was having so he could have the teeth removed!! Once my son and I discussed the options and decided on a plan we booked his next Appointment. My son was very worried about this the whole time up to his appt. But, he walked in there and tried. Before he even realized all 5 teeth were removed. IT WORKED! He was in tears so HAPPY it was over with and that he didn't have to be scared anymore. Thank you Sherri Charmatz for helping my son and I get through this. I highly recommend Dental Care at Eldersburg Commons.
